- 1Kunjapuri Devi Temple is a scared temple of immense importance in Hindu religion. Located at an height of 1676 meters on the hills of the Tehri Garhwal District, Kunjapuri is one of the 52 shaktipeeth temples in Uttarakhand. It is believed that the chest of burned Sati (Lord Shiva’s first wife) had fallen there, hence the name Kunjapuri was given to this temple as kunja means chest in sanskrit. The temple not only has its religious and spiritual significance, but offers panoramic views of the snowcapped mountains and peaks surrounded by it.

- travel0guy0 contributionsAvoid Amusing DestinationsWe booked this trip through Getyourguide, but it was provided in country by Amusing Destinations. The initial interaction I had with the Service Provider was very positive as they kindly agreed to pick us up from our hotel, which was located across the river from Rishikesh main town to save us walking around. The problems started when I was contacted by the guide Bhupinder the evening before our trip. He firstly insisted we changed the pick-up time from 0700 to 0600 "to avoid the heat' strange, I thought, given we were going to be out for 10 hours. Then, once he knew where our hotel was located, he tried to get us to meet him over the river in Rishikesh, which I refused given the Service Provider had agreed to pick us up from the hotel. The following morning, I received WhatsApp messages from Bhupinder at 0530 asking if we were ready yet, to which I replied we would be ready at 0600 as agreed. On pick-up there seemed to be an element of frustration on the half of both the guide and the driver. There were no introductions or chat about what our trip would entail, the usual things you would expect. Then, for the next 30 mins, we were subjected to aggressive, high-speed driving on narrow, twisty mountain roads, which nearly resulted in several head-on collisions, only avoided by last-minute breaking. On stopping for a cup of tea at a roadside cafe, I reprimanded the guide and told him in no uncertain terms to make the driver slow down telling him that the driving was not only making us feel sick but scaring us. To be fair the rest of the journey to Devprayag was a bit more sedate. On arrival in Devprayag, Bhupinder took us to the confluence of the rivers, which was stunning and to a small temple there. This was followed by a lovely breakfast in a roadside cafe. In total, we spent about an hour in Devprayag. Following breakfast, we got back in the xar and headed back in the direction of Rishikesh, with us assuming we were going to visit both the cave and waterfalls - not to be!! The drive back was again unpleasant, and while no near misses with oncoming traffic, the driver reverted to type, speeding again and overtaking traffic on blind bends, etc. As we neared our hotel, I asked Bhupinder if we were returning to our hotel, to which he relied yes. We asked to be dropped off near the old Lakhsman Jhula Bridge. On getting out of the car, I showed Bhupinder the online itinerary for the trip and asked why we were not visiting either the cave or the waterfall to which he looked confused as if he didn't know it was part of the trip. We just walked off, leaving the pair of them standing there, no doubt expecting a tip. I emailed the Service Provider to tell them what had happened, expressing my disappointment. They eventually replied after speaking to the guide and driver who denied driving unsafely as expected, but more annoying was that the guide told his boss that they had offered to take us to the cave and waterfall which we declined. The Service Provider didn't apologise. he just asked me not to leave a bad review as it wasn't deserved. Sorry, I disagree. I have since reported the issues to Getyourguide who are dealing with it. So, Devprayag is definitely worth a visit. It is beautiful, but be careful when choosing the trip provider and ensure you visit all the locations on the itinerary. I certainly wouldn't recommend Amusing Destinations.Written 7 November 2024

- meyuy0 contributionsBasically the tours I need for the dayIt was quite a short trip but basically all I need for the day. Very convenient in terms of transportation because I don't need to wait for a ride in the middle of scorching hot Delhi. The guide named Sachin was really helpful, he even offered to give my fussy 6-year-old a piggyback ride!Written 22 July 2024
- sbhargava20130 contributionsdevine!!we went to neelkanth mahadev from rishikesh , it took around 1.5 hours by taxi . you can hire shared taxi for 8 people which is cheap . the temple is on a hill . long ques are expected on week ends . there are a lot shops for prasads who also take care of your foot wear . in peak season the taxi drop you about 1 km away from the shrine .although I saw some shared taxis near to the shrine . may be there are some way to bend the rules . the darshan was devine and that is what important . jai mahadevWritten 2 April 2024

We came all the way from Denmark and took the Safari tour, and we saw nothing and they dont inform you about anything. There is no guarantee and the have no animals in the park, basically 5 Tigers who hide away in the winter. All you see is trees. STAY AWAY! Find something else. They dont give you any money back even though alot of people have seen nothing there.Written 27 November 2023

- TW8930 contributionsSMOOTH AND EASYMoving from flight through Immigration amd Customs was quick and easy. Having read countless tales if woe about getting a taxi from the airport to the city center, l was very apprehensive. In reality - it was a stress free breeze! Paid the correct money. Recieved two pieces of paper (of pre payment) and wandered out to get a yellow and black cab. Easy job! ATMs are frequently not working or empty - be aware!Written 18 September 2023

- nandinib20160 contributionsterribleWell, we don't even know if the tour is happening. We have not had responses to 4 queries about when and where our pickup tomorrow is at local time 9 am (it is 10 pm now). We have read other recent reviews indicating similar terrible experiences for those who did go on the tour. We want to cancel for a full refund, given THESE particular issues. The tour operator is silent, as they have been for the last 20 days. PWritten 10 June 2023
- D5461OUsarahz0 contributionsDo not book this tour. Explore on your own!Do not book this tour. I booked this trip a few weeks in advance and up to the day of the actual tour had not received any information from the company about where our driver would be picking us up or anything. I called the number they had given as a contact but the number does not exist. Finally we got into contact with the company through which they shared our guide details. He showed up an hour late and we found out that he does not speak English (which was our requested language) and he was not a guide but only a driver, which is not what we paid for. After another hour of being on the phone with the company they were searching for a guide for us which would have required another hour of waiting. In the end we cancelled it and left very unhappy. Plus the price is outrageous especially because 2/3 of the activities where it says "Admission included" are free temples. Better off exploring alone!Written 29 May 2023
- Martin_138570 contributionsYou must do this trip!Rishikesh was great, we took a boat across Ganges then walked the suspension bridge back. The visits to ashrams were amazing. We then went to Hardiwar for Aarti ceremony, such a spiritual place, I have felt blessed by the experience Our driver Ajay was phenomenal and attentive, a great driver who never blew his horn and he speaks excellent English. This trip is a must!!Written 5 April 2023
- axelsL1196YB0 contributionsYes, it happened! - here at DEL airport, New Delhi for the first time, january 20 years ago. :)Yes, it happened! - here at DEL airport, New Delhi for the first time 20 years ago. :) Not really a review here, - perhaps more of a recollection! Thinking in this connection of G.D. Robert's book "Shantaram" and the chapter on money exchange :) Upon arrival at the airport early in the morning after immigration, the first thing was to exchange money for taxi, food and hotel stay. In addition, delivered train tickets were to be paid to the hotel on arrival. (e-tickets were not commonplace yet, this time) I found money exchange and the queue for foreigners. I still remember that bank clerk; wearing a lovely new leather jacket - the only one among the other 8-10 clerks. Professional and quick exchange, counting by hand, receipt and "next thank you" :) I didn't notice anything, later in the hotel room I realized that a note was missing, about NOK 125.- :) Ok guys; being vigilant still applies!! Good trip and lots of great experiences!Written 3 April 2023

Shelesh and driver were right on time for our pickup 5am from Rishikesh. We enjoyed masala chai around 6 then walked the last steps to the top to watch. The Himalayas were visible in the distance. The sunrise was beautiful and a must see. After sunrise we gave offerings in the temple and tied a scarf piece for good luck outside. Then we walked back to chai place and had breakfast. After breakfast we began our trek all downhill to Tapovan. It was a great adventure and Shelesh was a friendly and knowledgeable guide who asked us questions too and has very good English! We enjoyed the trek and suggest wearing hiking boots or trainers with good traction for this expedition. We highly recommend this guide, company and particular tour.
