Such a great way to see more! We were on an extensive road trip that was peppered with tours that required us to be in a certain place at a certain time. Because of that, we found ourselves with strange pockets of time to fill. This self-guided tour allowed us to see what we wanted and had time for and was interesting, inexpensive and easy to follow. Monument Valley was an amazing site to see. If you go, make sure you stop mid tour and get some incredible Navajo Fry Bread - it was delicious!

the visit was beautiful, breathtaking views. The APP worked properly offline even without a connection, as long as the GPS was working. The fact of being able to stop and resume at will is much appreciated, you are not tied to any timetable or group, in fact the fact of being in your own car is advisable due to the dust you get when going on organized tours that use open vehicles.
I definitely recommend it

Already at dawn at the entrance to the park. The slowly rising sun is constantly changing the landscape. Fine to do with a regular car, if you drive quietly. But this gives you enough time to see everything properly.

Our Navajo tour guide, John, was so interesting and informative about Najavo culture and life. He helped us with getting some great pictures. We had a very enjoyable time! Highly recommend taking the tour instead of driving yourself.

We had a wonderful stay in the View Hotel. Stay on-site if you can. Sunrise from the room was stunning! We had decided on the self-guided tour of the Valley Loop because we liked the flexibility to control the length of our stay on each stop. The Loop is stunning at every stop but there are many buttes all around the area so be alert to all surrounding sights. The road was very muddy and rough. Not sure I would attempt self driving in a sedan. We had trouble with the Travel by Action tool. It did not add too much to our experience.

We started our trip outside the visitors center but when the audio stated it was at stop 9. We continued on thinking we would find 1-8 when we finished. There was little to no signage in the park to tell you where you were. The roads were terrible with huge rocks and potholes. We had trouble finding our way out of the 17 mile drive. We had to follow the audio backwards to figure out how to get out. We never found stops 1-8. The rock formations were fabulous but better signage and better roads would have enhanced the visit greatly.

Deborah, It's unfortunate that you faced some challenges with the Navajo Tribal Park Monument Valley Self-Guided Driving Tour. The tour is designed to start from a specific point, and following the map's speed limits and directions is essential for the best experience. If you follow as shown, you won't need to reverse the tour to find your way out. Unfortunately, the signage and road conditions aren't related to my app. I hope you'll consider trying the tour, as it's valid for a year after booking!

Buying the self driving tour online was easy. Not sure I needed it though. Map pretty much got us around. One area, on the map was code talker point. Virtual tour called it artist something.
It was worth seeing. Didn't see a lot of smiling faces in the back of those open tour vehicles.
Flavor of the day was SLOW.

This is a great way to get Monument Valley info on a self-guided tour. More Native American lore and life from the native perspective would be a great addition to the overall history of the area that the app provides.
My only complaint is that on the way out of the park the app gives you the same info as you got on the way in. Other tour apps I've used know when you are traveling the opposite directio and gives you different info on the way out than you've already heard. Otherwise I'm glad we had it for our tour!

Kelly, thanks for sharing your experience with my Monument Valley tour! I'm glad it added so much to your visit. I hear you on the request for different stories on the way out — mainly native history. I’m working on creating that and appreciate the detailed feedback. I'm delighted you found the app helpful overall, and for your future adventures, check out my Action+ Tour Bundle for access to over 100 self-guided tours across the country. Happy travels!

I was not able to drive the tour route. The Tribal Park was closed to the public. The app worked just fine. I will never purchase this type tour in advance.

This is a self-guided audio tour, not an entrance ticket. As previously mentioned, we ask everyone to check park hours, pandemic rules, and entrance tickets on their own since we have no control over them whatsoever. One good thing is that this is not a one-time tour purchase — you have it forever. It’s like buying a CD. So you can still use this tour when you go back (or even if you want to listen from home). I’m glad the tour worked for you even though the park was closed!

There are so many fascinating things to see in Monument Valley. My wife and I have visited this magnificent desert landscape made famous by famed motion picture director John Ford and legendary actor John Wayne on four occasions. Each time, we left feeling that we didn't see it all. We have driven the 17-mile Navajo route, taken self-guided tours and hired Navajo guides for private tours. If this is your first visit to Monument Valley, we recommend the self-guided audio tour while driving the 17-mile route that allows you to enjoy the awesome panoramas while learning about Navajo culture, tribal history and Hollywood stardom. The adventure begins on the outskirts of Mexican Hat, north of Monument Valley on U.S. Route 163. Get your first look at the wonders of the rust-red land at the spot where Forrest Gump's long run finally came to an end in the famous Tom Hanks film. Continue into Monument Valley, learn about the mysterious Anasazi tribe, the first people who lived in this isolated area and left behind ancient dwellings among the cliffs that were abandoned even before the Spanish Conquistadors arrived. Hike the 3.9-mile Wildcat Trail, the only self-guided trail in the park. See the towering rock formations of East and West Mitten Buttes and Merrick Butte. Stop at John Ford's Point. Marvel at the Three Sisters, monoliths that loom 1,000 feet above the valley floor. Visit North Window Overlook, a perfect spot to catch a sunrise. End up near Camel Butte and Elephant Butte.

Thanks so much for your feedback, Taylor! The 17-mile Navajo Tribal Park drive offers a lot to its visitors, and we do our best to provide it all. I'm thrilled that my tour of Monument Valley added to your learning and that you enjoyed it. I also have 100 other self-guided tours for other parks, scenic drives, cities, and historic sites in the US — hopefully, you’ll get the chance to try them next time! Also, just to remind you, the tour you bought is yours for a lifetime. So, you can listen to it at home or on your next visit.
