About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- marionhH3466MS0 contributionsYou get what you pay for - totally worth itThe tour with Don was the highlight of our stay in Monument Valley. A knowledgeable and witty guide who customized the tour according to our wishes. He showed us the best places to take photos and pointed out many things that we could easily have missed. His wealth of knowledge about the history of his people, the landscape, geology and political situations made the tour something special. There was also no shortage of personal stories and anectodes. The tour was definitely worth the investment. Don is a sweetheart and we had so much fun.Written 2 December 2024
- EricM4390 contributionsUnforgettable Tour of Monument ValleyMy Wife and I booked the private sunset tour with Monument Valley Safari on 10/03/24. Let me say that it was nothing short of amazing. Our tour guide, Don Mose, was incredible. In addition to showing us the very best sights, he taught us some Navajo words, told Navajo stories, explained the meanings of the Petroglyphs that we saw and gave a full history of Monument Valley as well as the Navajo people in general. The tour was visually stunning while also culturally deepening. Don took us to some places where the regular tours don't go and even helped us adjust our camera settings for maximum image capture. If you are planning on visiting Monument Valley, look no further than Monument Valley Safari. If he's available, ask for Don Mose - it will be an experience you do not forget.Written 11 November 2024

- lorisM7596ZL0 contributionsAmazing Birthday TripMy brother and I took our father to monument valley for his 87th birthday. The private tour we took with Don Mose was the definite highlight of our trip. He is a remarkable man with so many amazing stories. He takes the time to educate about Navajo culture and history which we thoroughly enjoyed and appreciated. It is well worth the extra cost to experience monument valley in a small group with Don Mose. He knows the best photo spots to help you bring back awesome memories. He made our dad's birthday very special. Be sure to ask him about his work preserving the Navajo language and his trip to Moscow and Siberia.Written 3 October 2024

- Landscape630 contributionsTotally Evocative3.5 hour morning tour. This tour was an absolute highlight. Bobby our Navajo guide was outstanding and gave us a special insight into the landscape and the wildlife and people who live within it. We appreciated the small size of the tour party (6 of us) which made for a more personalised approach. Bobby was talented in his photo taking and took time with each of the couples. We were treated to a visit to a hogan/family home and demonstration of traditional spinning and samples of weaving from a Navajo female who also shared her philosophy of life. We saw petroglyphs, tracked a coyote and visited rock windows, but the real highlight was Bobby's flute playing at Big Hogan Rock. Totally evocative.Written 14 September 2024
- SUSAN N0 contributionsWow- what a wonderful experienceWe did a two week/4 state trip and this was by far the biggest highlight of our trip. Our guide was wonderful and informative. The entire experience was transformative. I recommend this wholeheartedly.Written 12 September 2024

- virginiagailp0 contributionsAwesome privacy tour.Don Mose was outstanding. We three on his private tour were all very impressed. Don used a SUV. Perfect quiet and dust free. Our goal was to learn the Navajo culture, what the petroglyphs meant, and how the Navajo migrated to Monument Vally. Don made sketches on paper and gave each of us a flat stone inscribed with symbols we later saw viewing the petroglyphs. Awesome tour. Highly recommended. John, Gail, Laura.Written 11 September 2024

This was our first time to Monument Valley and I wanted to get a professional guided tour to help explain what we were seeing and the history of the area. Also, hiring a guided tour is the only way to get access to some other off the beaten path places.
The day that we booked just happened to be the worst day weather wise - cold and cloudy - but Toney our guide made this trip unforgettable.

There were so many different tours listed, I wasn't sure which one to select. I tried to call several, but only Monument Valley Safari returned my call so I went with them. The young man who called me back was very personable and answered all my questions. We booked the 3.5 hour tour--I believe it was the sunset tour for a time late in the afternoon on the day of our arrival. The meeting point was in The View hotel lobby, which made it easy to find. We were greeted by our guide, Don, and the tour started on time. The tour and our guide were both amazing. I can't imagine coming to this incredible place and not going on a guided tour. The experience and expertise of our guide added so much to our visit. I would highly recommend taking this tour with this tour company.

We were supposed to go on a trip with them at the beginning of August but of course due to the COVID-19 we couldn’t leave Our country to enter the US. We already knew about that issue in June and we’ve tried to contact them in every way but they have never replied our emails (even though the policy of the company says that it is possible to cancel the booking before 24hours in advance and 2 months of advance fully respect the policy). Their contacts are not valid anymore. We would like to receive a full refund as their terms and condition voucher say.

Tony our Navajo guide was so interesting with his background and stories about the area. He showed us things in we would never have noticed ourselves. We stopped and he took our cameras and new just what to do to create fabulous pictures. We stopped to enjoy the environment while he played his drum and sang a few Navajo pieces. It was more than worth the trip cost, a real investment of a pleasant morning. Watching the sun come up over monuments. Excellent am

This was an amazing trip! Tony was a wonderful guide! He showed us these beautiful landforms and surrounding landscape taking to ancient sites. He was knowledgeable about the history of the land including from a cinematography perspective. He also took some beautiful panoramic pictures of us and included a beautiful Navajo song in the tour. This tour was definitely worth doing!

Monument Valley was the part of our trip I was most looking forward to and it didn’t disappoint. Toney was the perfect guide—friendly, interesting, and knowledgeable. A great representation of the Navajo Nation.
At the beginning, I was disappointed that our tour vehicle didn’t have a speaker system which would allow Toney to describe what we were seeing as he was driving. It only took catching up to a couple of other tour vehicles to understand—the sacredness of the Valley is compromised with the speakers. Toney was also very good at stopping the vehicle and getting out to explain things to us and also encouraging questions. We got out of the vehicle many times to get closer to the formations and take pictures. We highly recommend this tour and hope that you get to learn from Toney, too!!

Well, I would have to say that Toney was the reason that Monument valley came to life. The names for the monuments and the stories behind them and his personality was terrific. He took us places you would never see on the regular track. Showed us petroglyphs, incredible acoustical spaces with beautiful holes above sang a sunrise song with his drum that his grandmother loved. Showed us best camera angles and shots. Amazing tour and landscapes and history of Navajo people. Really a highlight of our trip!

We did the sunset tour and our guide was Toney-extremely patient guy, since 4 people arrived 30 min late due to time zone confusion and 2 had to walk back to their cabin for their park entrance tickets. He was very attentive and was taking interesting pictures for us, helping with suggestions for better pictures, helped me find my camera, which had flown out of my pocket some 50 yards earlier and at the end of the day suggested a marvelous place to have dinner with not to miss Navajo tacos - at the Goulding's Lodge. The tour had breathtaking views and Toney was showing us all the imaginative profiles in the rocks to look for. It was a good time of day, a little breeze with plenty of sun and a little shadow, we enjoyed it immensely, thank you!

WOW! This tour was absolutely amazing. Our guide, Toney, was kind, knowledgeable, and talented. He shared stories of the Navajo, how they live, where the kids go to school and everything you need to know about the valley and the monuments. He answered all of our questions, took the time to take our pictures, I could go on and on. He played music for us and we saw arches that you cannot see on other tours. If you are going to Monument Valley, we highly recommend Monument Valley Safaris and Toney!

What a great experience! We took this tour in early May 2022, had eight people total in our extended jeep. While taking the tour, you can visit areas that are off limits to tourists driving the loop by themselves.
Our tour operator Bobby was awesome! He gave a lot of information on different formations and areas we were seeing, and even played the flute at one stop (totally magical time).
Wonderful tour, enjoy!
