Overview
A carriage tour of downtown Charleston takes you to the city’s top historic sites in a short amount of time—perfect for first-time visitors. Stay out of the sun without missing a sight in the covered, open-sided carriage as your guide regales you with stories and fun facts from the Holy City’s long history.
Highlights
  • Horse and carriage tour of historic Charleston is a classic experience
  • Ride past key Charleston sites in a covered carriage with open sides
  • Fully narrated tour provides insight into Charleston’s long history
  • Cover more ground in downtown Charleston in less time on a carriage tour
What to Expect
Arrive at a centrally located stable in downtown Charleston at least 30 minutes prior to your scheduled departure time. After meeting the horses, board a comfortable carriage and begin to make your way through the heart of the city. The carriage is covered to protect from the sun but open on the sides for easy viewing. Tour through 20 blocks of the Charleston historic district, visiting top sites such as City Market, the Battery, and Rainbow Row. Your guide fills you in Charleston history—from its early days as a small colony in 1670 to its recent revival—and exemplifies the South’s distinct humor and charm. The tour concludes at the Old Brick Barn, the oldest active stable in the city and a good jumping off point for the rest of your day’s exploration.

We expected an overview of the town, so we could choose where to spend more time. On our tour we never saw the nicer parts of Charleston with description of architecture nor did we see the pretty pastel houses. Before you leave the horse and carriage area, the driver “draws” a
