    Amish immersion, not exactly
Our tour guide, Moses, did a great job. Would like to have felt more “immersed” in the culture. We drove around and he pointed out the farms etc but “immersion” means contact with the Amish to us.

    Knowledgeable Guide
This gave us the whole back round of the Amish and their traditions very informative. We were the only 2 on our tour, and they still took us which was great because we only had that morning to go.

    Amazing tour!!!
Never have I been on tour where time flew! On the way to each stop you’ll hear and learn about the Amish, the stops really complement the knowledge you learn. What makes this tour special is visiting some of the homes of the community, gives a very individualized experience. You’ll leave the tour having gained an appreciation for the community while gaining the knowledge. I would describe the tour as pleasantly unconventional experience and would come back with more family. Also the ice cream is a nice added bonus (even in winter!), hands down best ice cream I’ve ever had.

I wanted to experience an in-depth tour with a native guide. What I received surpassed anything I could have imagined! Idriss proved to be a remarkable guide; he engaged me from the moment he collected me in 'his' beloved city through fascinating tales, comprehensive insights, and genuine hospitality. He skillfully guided us to key sites and introduced us to people from his personal circle. These authentic connections made everything feel so real and special. It was like stepping directly into living history. Many thanks, Idriss!

Thank you for our excellent tour of the "Unique Amish Immersion in Lancaster"
Mike was an excellent tour guide who has been well affiliated with the Amish community members who knew him. He was very knowledgeable in presenting information about the tour sites as well as the Amish way of life and culture. He was able to answer any questions we had, and as a result...we learned so much. I even learned more than when I was at another nearby venue. We would highly recommend this tour to anyone! Thanks so much for sharing your knowledge, Mike. Happy holidays! Jeannie and Siena

    Wonderful food with wonderful company
We met Dale at the tourist centre and instantly hit it off with our love for Rugby! Dale is the font of all knowledge on the Amish, Lancaster and Pennsylvania history! Was fascinating to hear all the knowledge he imparted on us. For the trip, Emma and her daughter were wonderful hosts in their home and the food was amazing! Will definitely be cooking some of them at home with thanks for Emma’s cookbook! Only teeny niggle, Emma was quite shy and as there was no one else but us on the tour, it made it a little awkward at lunch but overall, amazing experience!

Very Informative with a knowledgeable guide.
The tour was very informative and full of details. Jamie was very knowledgeable and personable. We weren't expecting to spend so much time in the van. Pulling up to a historical site and listening to the story behind it but not getting out to actually see it was a bummer. We also kind of felt we were going to visit all of his friends, It was just a bit weird with that par/

Mike is an amazing tour guide! He’s well versed in Lancaster history. We thoroughly enjoyed walking around the city while he pointed out so many interesting historical references. The beer/beverage stops were pretty cool places to sit and have drinks. We ended up going back the next evening! We are grateful for such a wonderful experience in Lancaster. Thank you Mike!!!

This tour was amazing. It ended up being just my fiancé and I, but we had such a great time learning about the history of Lancaster. Our guide was very knowledgeable about Lancaster and answered all our questions in depth. The breweries that we visited were great & had a great selection! We would definitely recommend this tour to anyone who is interested in the history of Lancaster, as well has the impact of prohibition here.

This tour was easily the highlight of our weekend in Lancaster. Mike led our tour, but it felt more like hanging out with an old friend that happens to know a ton about the city.

We learned so much in such a short time. I had no idea what to expect from Lancaster, but the history was fascinating. Mike offered details and stories that offer so much context to how Lancaster was built up and operates.

After a couple hours out on a hot summer day the beers at the end of the tour were the perfect ending. I never thought Lancaster would be a location we'd make a point of visiting again, but we can't wait to go back for another tour with Lokalexperiences.com

Next time I'm really hoping to book one of their Amish Experience Dinner parties. Way more authentic than anything else you will find with travel sites. If you want to truly experience Lancaster or the Amish culture get in touch with Mike. You will have an unforgettable time.

My two best friends and I savored the history and the beer in equal measure.

Michael has a relaxed but professorial style which holds your interest throughout. He is justifiably proud of the efforts made by so many to restore and preserve the history of his home town.

The tour route is well conceived and consistently interesting. There is so much more to Lancaster than The Amish (which are never mentioned). Highly organized, Michael came equipped with extra umbrellas (which we needed). But for his being from the blue side of the Dickinson vs. F&M rivalry - he was perfect.

Our tour of Lancaster was the highlight of the weekend. Learned the origin of “stogie” and the ingenious means by which Lancaster’s brewers circumvented the Volstead Act.

Thanks to A.J. for loaning us her husband.

Old college rivalry aside, you guys were great guests too. Thanks for moving off the beaten path of Lancaster tourism and exploring the deep history of our great little city. I thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon. Thanks for reviewing and come back again some time.

History, beer and Mike-3 of Lancaster's many gems. Informative and entertaining-not to be missed. It is amazing how much history a small city like Lancaster has in a relatively small area, and Mike knows it all.

Mike was extremely knowledgeable and shared a lot of interesting history information with us. We were a little disappointed because we only had 2 beer stops at the end of the tour. Our past experience with beer tours have included multiple stops throughout the tour. Overall we did enjoy the tour.

Thanks for the review, and we appreciate your feedback. For those reading this, this is designed to be primarily a history tour and not a pub crawl. We do make 2 stops for beers, but it is not the focus of the experience.

This was a great walking tour of downtown Lancaster with an added bonus of a couple of beers towards the end. Our guide was interesting and knowledgeable about the history of downtown Lancaster. The tour was easy to hear due to an earpiece provided and the level of walking was modest so manageable even on a very hot day. Definitely recommend!

My friend and I did this walking tour on a beautiful Saturday in October.
Mike was a very knowledgeable guide. He knew a lot about the history of Lancaster and had great enthusiasm. The two brew pubs we frequented at the end were an added bonus and the drinks were included as well.

The tour guide was extremely knowledgeable and a local. The tour provided history with a stop at 2 pubs. The pubs had a great selection of craft beer. The history we learned was interesting and informative. I would recommend the tour. It is about 1 and a half hours of walking, with 2 stops in pubs. You will learn about Lancaster, its history and its relationship with breweries.
