- rpcascardo620 contributionsFun holiday nightIt was very enjoyable. Music was fantastic and crew was fun. The sights were beautiful. We really enjoyed the holiday cocktails too!Written 3 December 2024
- snorkelthebay0 contributionsNo dogs pleaseOnly reason we gave it a low rating was because of dogs on boat. Otherwise would have had best rating. Love riding the boat. One of many trips we have taken. However the space is too small to accommodate both people and pets. Just not enough room. Already a tight fit on a full boatWritten 27 October 2024
- pambH9476KU0 contributionsLearned some history…We learned so much history about Wilmington and the Cape Fear River. Captain Mike and his crew were awesome and so knowledgeable about the region. Captain Mike was so personable and we enjoyed our cruise with him. The Cape Fear is lovely.Written 26 October 2024

The guitar player was excellent, not too loud, good selection of songs. We had a couple of drinks and enjoyed our relaxing night.Written 9 September 2024
- tuck t0 contributionsSeeing Wilmington from the water is fascinatingCaptain Patrick is so welcoming and knowledgeable about the natural history and social history of the area and the modern day conditions of the river, the Port and shipping, and the city. The crew also are very hospitable with a well stocked bar and snacks. Wilmington Water Tours supports all those impacted by severe weather also!Written 7 September 2024
- kpetroski4120 contributions1-3It was OK nothing special. Narration was kind of boring. It was just someone stating facts, we are more used to these tours being a little humorous.Written 4 September 2024

The day of our tour was pretty cold, but the boat is enclosed so it was OK if not as comfortable as it would have been on a warmer day. The captain had a good amount of information to share and it was entertaining to listen while watching for the sights on shore. There is a bar onboard, but a small alcoholic beverage being $12 I passed on that. A child nearby was making himself the center of attention which made the trip a little less pleasant than it could have been. If a child can't enjoy it and parents don't choose to exert supervision then maybe home is the best place for him or her. There are a few good photo ops-tugboats and ships. Keep in mind that nearby parking may not be free. The lot we pulled into almost directly across the street was $9.00/hour.

Very enjoyable. We took the Noon cruise, which went upriver and gave us a view of the boardwalk and the battleship as well as some beautiful wetlands. The captain gave an excellent narration of the sights and the ecological significance of what we were seeing. We highly recommend. Also, drinks are available on board.

After a day on the beaches and state park, we booked an 6pm cruise before dinner. We were greeted by a friendly staff. The Captain and crew made us feel welcomed. A bar is located on board. The tour was very informative and the scenery was beautiful. The Captain told jokes and delivered the history of the river and surroundings. Look into their sunset cruises which I imagine is very beautiful. I recommend this tour for the staff, history, and the price. We will do this tour again the next time we are in town.

Thoroughly enjoyable 50 minute trip with history of shipping on the Cape Fear River moderated by Captain Judd. We learned about this event through Trip Advisor and purchased 4 tickets which were listed as "from $24.00 per ticket" under the advertising. When we arrived at the venue, tickets were actually sold at $18.00 per person. While I do believe that there should be an appropriate fee for mark up of events, the $6.00 difference from actual on site purchase of $18.00 (25% increase) is excessive and buyers should be aware of the potential mark up on any events when booking any trips associated with Trip Advisor.

Thank you for cruising with Wilmington Water Tours on our Eagles Island Cruise south to the State Ports. So glad to know you enjoyed learning about the Maritime History and what's going on at the State Ports here on the lower Cape Fear River with Captain Judd. Booking with trip advisor is brand new for us, we may be able to work with them to decrease that mark up. Thank you for your review!

We recently took the North cruise on Eagles Island and had a wonderful time. The 50-minute narrated boat cruise was both informative and relaxing. Our captain and first mate shared fascinating stories about the area, making the cruise enjoyable for the whole family.
While the cruise was relatively short, it was a great way to see the local sights and learn about the area's history. We would highly recommend this experience to anyone visiting the area.

We were planning to drive an hour to Wilmington to spend the day on the Riverwalk and in the historic district, and this boat tour was one of our planned activities. We looked at the forecast and booked the day before, but the weather changed and it was pouring rain on the day of our booking. Obviously we weren't going to drive an hour each way to spend the day in the rain, so I tried to get a refund, but was denied because the captain had not canceled the tour due to weather. I wonder how many other people lost their money that day.

We do have a 24 cancellation policy. The day of your cruise we did not need to cancel any cruises due to weather. I understand our office manager offered to move your cruise to another day. This is still an option for you. Call me directly and I will reschedule you. My name is Diane my contact # is 910-632-4095. I look forward to hearing from you.

My two children, their spouses, and I came to Wilmington to celebrate my 80th birthday, and this tour turned out to be the highlight of our trip. We chose to take the downriver tour toward the commercial docks, which turned out to be a great learning experience that we all loved. Patrick, the genial captain, was a remarkable fountain of information. He seemed to know everything about the river, the boats, the commerce along the river, the bridge, etc., and he seemed genuinely pleased to share it all with us. A friendly crewman assisted him and a friendly young woman handled the drinks and snacks. They all contributed to our overall memorable experience. It was a beautiful, breezy day, so the boat was open on the sides, allowing us to feel very close to the river. The cost of the tickets was modest compared to the pleasure this wonderful tour provided.

Thank you for your kind review! Captain Patrick began working as first mate and went on to become Captain. When he's not on "the Wilmington", he is exploring the area on his own boat. He is a wealth of information and loves to share his story. We are fortunate to have six Captains who all bring their unique personalities, stories and love of the Cape Fear River and area to life.
So glad to know you enjoyed your cruise.
Thank you for your support!

Relaxing boat ride and friendly staff, but that was it. We saw the Naval ship from a distance, fish jumping out of the water, various types of sea grass…and a lot of dead Cyprus trees…that’s it. It was somewhat of a dud when highlights of the attractions included pointing out the local roof top bar and barriers around the bridge supports so boats don’t damage it.

Sounds like you Meh'd our Eagles Island Cruise North. This cruise follows the 2 mile long river walk viewing the historical homes and businesses on the river front as well as the newly developed "Northend" with our multimillion dollar Marina, Live Nations Outdoor Music Pavillion, passing alongside the Battleship NC, the most highly decorated American Battleship of WWII and inclued history narration about downtown, the Battleship, and more. I totally agree, it's impossible for everyone to enjoy a 50 minute boat ride on the Cape Fear River. We all do our best to offer our guest a safe, fun, educational experience.
regards, Diane

The entire staff was wonderful. We had the entire boat to ourselves for my moms birthday and they made it so special, even with the rain. Holly was an awesome bartender and Captain Patrick was real easy to talk with. But what really made it was Owen, the speaker. He was funny, knowledgeable, and had a customer service smile that made us all feel so welcome. We have come here every year and will be back in the future for sure!

It started as a very casual trip down the Cape Fear River on a beautiful evening. As we cruised and had a few drinks (try their rum punch cocktail), people loosened up and the boat was full of chatter. Many sights to see as the sun set and the moon started to rise. We all made friends and chatted as the super moon rose and Nick Black played our favorite tunes. It was the perfect way to top off the day.

Thank you for cruising with us and for taking the time to write a review! The Cape Fear River is magical, add a Full Moon/Sunset/Full Service Bar & one of Wilmington's favorite musicians, Nick Black... Well I believe you said it all! Hope to see you again soon!
