Overview
Cruise Skjalfandi Bay, one of Iceland’s top whale-sighting spots, on this tour from Husavik. Booking ahead means you’ll avoid ticket-buying hassles and helps ensure your preferred departure time. You’ll travel in a traditional, Icelandic oak boat with plenty of room for great views. Onboard commentary provides background on Iceland’s marine life, and you’ll enjoy hot chocolate and Icelandic donuts as you sail.
What to Expect
Select your preferred departure time, and head to the dock in Husavík, Iceland’s whale-watching capital.

Settle on deck on the traditional, spacious oak boat. If the weather requires it, you’ll be provided with a coverall and raincoat.

Admire the views of the Vik’s mountains as you cruise to Skjalfandi Bay. The sheltered inlet offers a high chance of spotting various types of marine life, from harbor porpoises to blue and humpback whales.

Although June to August brings the best chance of sightings, the crew has recently reported more early spring and autumn sightings, increasing the number of visitors who see the whales.

Learn about the marine environment via live commentary from the onboard guide. Plus, enjoy hot chocolate and an Icelandic kleina (twisted donut) before your cruise ends back in Husavik.

Wonderful morning on Husavik bay

We got a stunningly clear calm morning on the lovely oak boat Faldur. Petur our captain and Daniel our guide did a great job. So many whales in the bay that spotting was easy. We saw many humpbacks and extra specially saw a pod of...More

Whale Watching in Husavik

I realized early on from my countless whale watching trips that every outing is unpredictable with regard to sightings. Typically I plan multiple trips just in case the first tour doesn't net the sightings I hoped for. Unfortunately in this case I only planned 1...More

Lived up to expectations

Yes, we have seen the whales. But what's more was the special clothes that warmed us up during the trip, the guide with an incredibly soothing and calming voice (I believe he was a native Spanish speaker, don't remember his name but highly recommended), hot...More

Excellent Experience

This far exceeded our expectations. We saw 11 different types of humpback whales - most of which were only a few meters from our boat. Brilliant guide too. Highly recommended. Must do.More

Hello, It depends from the tour, but you must consider at least 2/3 hours. I took the one with the regular boat and the one with the RIB and they're both wonderful. You won't regret it :)
