About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- Georgie_Girl_56430 contributionsBarbaric experience - 50 shipping boats chase distressed dolphinsThe most disgusting example of animal distress I have ever witnessed. I booked the Mnemba Island tour which consisted of dolphin watching and snorkelling. I’ve been dolphin watching many times before and the animals welfare should always be the top priority. Unfortunately, it was not the case here. Arriving at the starting point, there were over 100 small motor fishing boats ready to depart. I assumed these were all for different types of tours. They were not. They were all to spot the same 3 dolphins we found. Once we climbed into the boat we took off chasing over 50 other fishing boats (I counted) to where 3 poor dolphins (a mother, an auntie and a calf) were being surrounded by another 45 boats (I counted!!). As we arrived to where the dolphins were last spotted, there were boats everywhere, circling around the last spot the dolphins had breached the water. Then the dolphins appeared about 15m outside the circle to which all the boats then took off chasing them. Boats almost crashed, the stench of petrol was ridiculous and these poor dolphins were almost mowed down. Drivers then told their customers in the boats to jump into the water, getting so close to the dolphins the almost landed on them. I’ve never seen something so inhumane in my life. Not to mention, terrifying at how close people (and children!!) were to being mowed over by boats who had no concept of health and safety. This was a repetitive cycle and after witnessing it 3 times the look of disgust on my face was clear. The 2 other families in the boat with me agreed and we stopped “observing”/harassing these poor dolphins. For context, when a calf is born, the mother will normally take it away from the main pod, along with another adult, to teach the baby everything it needs to survive without the risk of it getting trampled by the adults in the main pod. This mother had tried to protect her baby, and all this tour had done was put it in jeopardy. Next we went to snorkel near Mnemba island, which only lead to more disappointment. We parked up in the middle of the reef amongst so many other fishing boats, I didn’t even bother counting this time. All you could smell and taste in the water was petrol. The range and number of marine life was sparse, clearly showing the marine area and life has suffered from the level of pollution and excessive numbers of people. I appreciate local tour companies will always want to capitalise on their local marine life but it should be done whilst ensuring marine life conservation. A really disappointing experience. In the next few days I also went on the turtle sanctuary experience. Whilst seeing these majestic creatures was incredible, there again were too many people in a small area of water with them. Lots of turtles + lots of people + a small area meant the turtles were getting pushed and kicked by swimmers. Again, not something I thought was acceptable.Written 19 August 2024
- DebHowse0 contributionsWhat a fab day!Prebooked before we arrived and finalised everything a couple of days before, We left our hotel at 4am ready for our flight at 6.15. We arrived back at the hotel at 7.30pm. Everything was well organised and went like clockwork. We had a fabulous day and saw so many animals/birds - lions, elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, hippos, hyenas, warthogs, wildebeests, crocodiles, fish eagle, kingfisher, vulture and more! Our guide Abel and driver shabani were excellent, both finding the animals and providing lots of information. It was definitely worth the early startWritten 29 September 2023
- dianelN7804OR0 contributionsExceptional time on safariWe had a 3day 2 nite safari. Collection from hotel to airport and meeting our guide in Arusha. 1st day was Tarangire national park, very good day out, our guide was patient and answered questions that we asked. We then visited a Masai camp on our way to farm of dreams for our 2 nite stay. Up early at 5.30am for breakfast, to leave at 6.30. We went to Ngorongo crater, what can I say, we was absolutely spoiled. We seen everything we wanted, even had a lion walk the side of the truck so amazing. A day we will never forget. Our next day was lake manyara, as we had a magnificent day before this couldn’t compare. We was took back to the airport for our return flight to Zanzibar. Cannot recommend this tour group enough. We truly had a fabulous time on safari, everything from start to finish was very tentative. 5 starsWritten 5 August 2023
- Daniel K0 contributionsWhat an exciting dayVery nice tour, the weather wasn’t that good, what means it was very (too) windy with our 3 year old daughter. You should observe that when you start your tour! Nice and very eager guides on the boat. We did the tour with Mussa and his team, could highly recommend him and his brother for the German guided tour! The island of Nakupenda was far too crowded but the lunch was fantasticWritten 14 July 2023
- lornaarob0 contributionsDisasterDo Not use this tour team They are a rip off We had a horrific deep sea fishing trip with a substandard boat not enough crew, no toilet!! Inadequate fishing gear and crew experience We asked after 3 hrs to return to shoreWritten 8 March 2023
- RebeccaM27030 contributionsPut this on your list of things to doWhat a beautiful trip! The boat is very comfortable, down to the lovely crew who made it very enjoyable. Taking a gentle sail to find a sand bank, snorkel in crystal clear water and a delicious lunch provided aboard - certainly worth a visit.Written 9 January 2023

- 279barbora_0 contributionsAmazing day on the seaDuring the day we tried 3 different ships. The crew was amazing and friendly. We also had our photos taken by present photographer Mike - reccommeded if you want a nice memory :) we had a grilled seafood lunch and life music on the boat. But the best part of the trip is a visit of a "dissapearing" sandy island and snorkeling around beautiful underwater reef. Also, we managed to see dolphins 😍Written 26 September 2022

- Andrea D0 contributionsNakupenda loversBeautiful experience that allows you to visit two picturesque and characteristic islands of Zanzibar, Prison Island (which it turns out was never a prison) and Nakupenda. Beautiful giant turtles, snorkeling and especially the fish barbecue at nakupenda. Eating lobster on that wonderful island is priceless. The guide Amedeo is number one!Written 20 September 2022
- ZanziVibes0 contributionsGreat DayExcellent service during Prison Island and Nakupenda Trip. Multilingual guides serving with passion. Prison Island is charming, you'll get to know nice history facts, see the giant turtles, peacocks, little forest dears. Later You enjoy boat trip to Nakupenda sandbank, having some fresh fruits and local Tea. The Sandbank will make Your day with snorkeling, relax and afterwards the best local food I've eaten on any excursion.Written 20 September 2022

- anthesve0 contributionsIncredibleI did the safari on august, it lasted 1 day and it was incredible. photos are not as good as your eyes are, so seeing animals in front of me, sometimes 2 meter between them and you, is something out of this world. Guides will try their best to satisfy you and the organisation is perfect. If you can, the safari is a must-do thing. surely !!Written 5 September 2022

Unforgettable trip. Tomek is the best guide for this type of events. Very involved, always helpful with a great sense of humor. The safari itself is very nice, we saw the animals as they live, we entered the park first and we left it last. We could drive very close to the animals We highly recommend this safari.

Trip was quite well organised but for £416 it was very disappointing. Even after driving round for 6 hours Nyerere national park it seemed to have hardly any animals in it. Mostly deers and monkeys. Hardly saw any others. Didn’t see lions, tigers, cheetha etc. Every else I know who has been on a trip to Tanzania said how great safari was so I only assume this park isn’t good. It was very under-whelming. I was picked up at 4am but didn’t get lunch or any other food till 12pm. No other food and I got home at 6.30pm. Not worth the money.

Another fantastic trip flying in a small propeller plane from Zanzibar to Selous. Every part of the trip executed really well, we were in the "Simba" group, staff were all fantastic. Our guide, Felix, was really knowledgeable and made us feel very welcome and passed all his knowledge and information about the animals and trees etc to us. Very happy to answer all our questions and stop for fantastic photo opportunities. Very worth while trip. Thank you Flash! Thank you Felix

The picnic was excellent, not many animals, we began to think the two elephants, one hornbill and a few giraffes had been planted.
Tour guide worked very, very hard to find us lions and we eventually saw a pride with two cubs under a tree.
These must be tame as we were 2 meters away in an open safari truck.
The hippos, monkeys and zebras were plentiful

Horrible trip. The flight couldnt go back to Zanzibar so we had to stat at a dirty place in the middle of the bush over night. 5 other operator on the same trip but they all manage to bring they’re clientele back before our operator did. They were lying all the time and tried to save money.

Firstly , We apologize for the inconvenience caused happen on safari tour,
Secondly let us clarify the situation of the safari tour dated 08 June
The Safari Tour went normally all the day but there were unexpected heavy rainfall mid of the day and destroyed Mtemere Airstrip (video attach), while the clients were waiting for the plane to land and take them back to Zanzibar, the wind was very heavy and plane couldn't land and had to go back to Zanzibar for the safety of the clients as advised by the pilot
we had to look for another alternatives like small planes but we couldn't find as it was already late for a plane to take a route to selous from Zanzibar , though there were a small flight with 13 seats where by we consider old clients and pregnant women to take them and we didn't send it from zanzibar it was already there
For the remaining clients we arranged for them full board accommodation in Africa Safari Selous lodge and they stayed overnight while on our side we were searching for solutions for the problem.
Second day we managed to find 2 flights 1. Small Seneca plane which carries 05pax only for the people who have departure on that particular day and it went to pick them at 11:00 and second flight Caravan which carriers 12 pax which it went to pick them at 13:15 and our buses were waiting tin airport o tack them back to hotels
there were another option for busses to take them from Selous to Dar Es Salaam and Dar Es Salaam to ZNZ but we didn't accept as it could take 6-7hrs to reach DAR and it's not safe for our clients as the roads were rough because of the rain and muddy.
Flash tour had covered all the extra costs as overnight full board accommodation and extra two private flights form Zanzibar to Selous to bring the clients
We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused as it was not our fault neither the client nor the weather was not friendly on that day.

We had a great day! We've seen many animals, some of them really close. The guide and driver were friendly and had plenty of knowledge to share. A nice lunch and water were included. Unfortunately, after lunch we had to hurry to get back to the plane on time, so there wasn't much time to stop and take pictures. However, it was worth every penny!

It was an amazing experience, which was much better than we expected before. Drivers were determined to show us as many animals as possible. Moreover, they tried to get the best position to watch the animals. That was worth the money.
