About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- T4230SGcharlottek0 contributionsAmazing experiences with Isaac!Isaac was incredible! We could not have been happier with any tour guide! He is very kind and extremely knowledgeable about the places, culture, history, wildlife, and anything else we could have asked. I don’t usually opt to take guided tours as I like to explore on my own, but I am immensely glad I ended up on a tour with Isaac, and we explored a lot! I would not have had such a great time without him and his knowledge. He was very communicative not only with us, but also with the other people in charge of parts of our tour (at the hippo sanctuary, at the village we visited, at the leather making spot, and everywhere else). Additionally, he went on the Safaris in Mole National Park with us, and though I assume the Park Rangers were knowledgeable and did point loads of wildlife out, Isaac was still the one answering all of our extensive questions (he clearly knew the answer to them all!!). Additionally, he was very good at spotting wildlife, and I was specifically impressed by his knowledge of birds in the park. Isaac was also always punctual. He was right there waiting for us at the airport, and drove us to the Hippo sanctuary very early in the morning. I also always felt safe with him driving! He is an expert! He worked in additional experiences along the way as well including stopping to try cashew fruits, bringing us Baobab fruit juice, an other things. He also facilitated a lot of the money transactions so if we ever weren’t sure of the price/how to pay/how much to tip/or how to barges at the souvenir stores, he was very helpful. I could not recommend touring with Isaac more.Written 23 March 2025
- S1117OIpatriciak0 contributionsThe guide made our experience in north Ghana both easy and rewarding.Isaac provided the perfect tour experience. He is professional, warm, thoughtful, knowledgeable, cooperative and helpful. He is easy to get to know. He will lend you binoculars, help you buy water along the way, remember to call ahead to order lunch, and tell you all about the villages, plants and animals you encounter. His connections and know-how helped us get the most from our trip. We think of ourselves as pretty rugged, rustic and flexible, but if we had tried to do this trip without Isaac as our guide, it would have been twice as difficult and half as rewarding.Written 23 March 2025
- laurarj20220 contributionsThank you Isaac and Grassroots! From the start of our tour (beginning with booking) to the end of the tour (flight departure) our tour guide, Isaac, was reliable, professional, and communicative. We spent four full days with him and never stopped leading us on amazing adventures. Things not listed on the tour included visiting a tannery - the oldest mosque in West Africa - souvenir shopping - and more. Everything was pre-arranged with thoughtful timing and excellent guides at each of our stops. It was clear that Isaac was always planning two steps before we got to a place and when we arrived to each place it was clear that he was respected by the community. In addition, Isaac took care of things while at Mole confirming meal orders and checked on my health when I fell a bit ill from previous travels. It was clear that he cared for us- truly! Isaac made our time in the area at Mole, Tamale, the Hippo Sanctuary, and the various villages we visited well worth the flight from Accra!Written 22 March 2025
- dylanaX2030MF0 contributionsWould definitely recommend!Amazing experience and breathtaking sights as well! Our guide, Isaac, has been phenomenal throughout the trip, making sure that our journey goes as smoothly as possible, while taking time to show us all the culture and knowledge around the area. Would absolutely recommend!Written 10 March 2025
- gavinf7710 contributionsRockstar tour guide!Emmanuel was very informative and helpful. We enjoyed seeing so many animals including 11 elephants in one day. We had a great time!Written 1 March 2025
- ShleyLantos0 contributionsIncredible Experience!Absolutely loved it! Emmanuel was so kind and knowledgeable of the area. We had just finished a long week of work and were looking to have a bit more time to just relax. Emmanuel worked with us to adjust the schedule and made sure we did all the activities that were we’re looking forward to. Would love to do another tour with him in the future!Written 27 February 2025
- 188marianc0 contributionsA taste of GhanaOur visit to Mole was within a longer tour in Northern Ghana which included more urban settings and people-oriented activities, so together a great balance. The trips with experienced guides in canoes, 4x4 and on foot offered great variety of opportunities to admire the birds, beasts and environment, and the accommodation and food was fine - the swimming pool being an unexpected bonusWritten 15 February 2025
- T2030OIdavids0 contributionsGreat Safari tour of Mole Park! Highly recommend!Amazing tour! Our guide Emanuel was awesome! Very knowledgeable and excited to show us Mole Park and the surrounding areas. Everything was as described in the tour package and everyone was very professional. It was easy to add additional safari tours and to make adjustments along the way. Grassroots and Emanuel are fantastic. I can't recommend them enough.Written 28 January 2025
- Dashs_Dad0 contributionsAmazing experienceThis was the highlight of my friends and my 2 week trip to Ghana. Everything was excellent beginning with the communication beforehand. Our guide Emmanuel was exceptional. He had grown up in the park and was a ranger/guide in the park prior to operating tours so each safari we went on had the ranger/guide and Emmanuel so nothing was missed. We were able to get up close with elephants and really experience the awe the inspire. We chose the lesser expensive Mole lodge to stay at which was fine for us, the food was great, the pool over looking the watering hole was great. I will warn you (as they warned us) that the ride to the Hippo area was long and on poor roads, but that was a wonderful experience as well. Really, really can't say enough! ThanksWritten 28 January 2025
- B1488WUanaf0 contributionsGreat experience! My family and I had an amazing experience with Grassroot Tours. On a recent vacation to Ghana, my family and I wanted to explore the northern region, but we only had family and friends located in Accra. Since we would be going alone, I looked for a tour company that would ensure a smooth and seamless experience. From the get-go, starting with booking, Isaac was very accommodating, answering all my questions quickly and patiently waiting for my booking confirmation due to a delay in getting our visas as well as a flight cancellation. On the tour itself, our guide Emmanuel was kind, patient and very knowledgeable. He took care of transportation, tickets for the safaris, etc. It was great to explore the region worry-free, not having to think about a thing. Accommodations - Zaina Lodge was significantly more expensive than Mole motel but I’m glad we went with this option. The lodge is beautiful, the food was good and the room and view was a dream. On our last night, an elephant came to drink from the fountain at the front of the resort and the workers called us from our room to ensure we saw the epic sight. Safaris - this tour includes 2 safaris. We had a great time on both and saw several elephants on the afternoon driving safari. An added bonus is that Emmanuel was a former safari tour guide himself and was able to provide us with additional information and facts on top of the official safari leader. Overall, great experience and highly recommend!Written 5 January 2025
- catherinefindlay10 contributionsWonderful ExperienceAmazing experience! Issac is a wonderful guide. He is attentive, prompt and flexible to our needs. We will come again and highly recommend him and his company.Written 1 January 2025
- jah130 contributionsReally good Ghana toursGreat experience on a 3 day safari to Mole National Park and a 2 day trip to the Cape Coast. The guides- Emmanuel in Mole and Isaac in Cape Coast- were both excellent. In addition, Isaac really helped adapt the trips to ensure we were able to add things we wanted additionally, such as a visit to Global Mamas to try batik making on the Cape Coast. All in all a great few days. I’d really recommend using them.Written 13 December 2024
- 676daltonc0 contributionsExplore Nothern GhanaThis tour was fantastic. Isaac my tour guide did a fabulous job. My experience was educational and fun. One of my best vacation tours to date. Big thank you to Grassroot tours that made the experience possible.Written 26 November 2024
- Sophie M0 contributionsView from Mole Hotel over the Park was the highlight.I really enjoyed the visit to Mole National Park with Grassroots tours. Isaac was very knowledgeable and made us feel welcome and at ease, Mole Hotel is basic and the food is expensive, the best thing about the hotel was the view over the park which is absolutely stunning. On the Safari I was a bit underwhelmed as we only saw antelopes, birds monkeys and one elephant. Overall I would say it was a good experience.Written 21 November 2024

Fantastic time with tour guides Isaac and David, doing 2 nights in Tamale and Mole National Park.
We booked very last minute for the tours and they were able to accommodate us, pick us up from the airport and help us plan a packed itinerary, including the safaris, tamale market, red brick art studios, larabanga mosque, Mognori village and much more.
Their local knowledge is incredible and they really show their love for the area, it’s people and the nature. They made everything very easy for us.
It was an absolute joy spending time with them both and we cannot recommend them enough!

I went on a 4-day tour led by David. It was truly fantastic! We did both a jeep safari and a walking safari in Mole National Park. Additionally, we visited the hippo sanctuary, the oldest mosque in Larabanga and more. To wrap up, we went to the cultural center of Tamale. I had an amazing time and wished I could have stayed longer, especially in Tamele, because there's so much more to see. The park is truly beautiful, and we saw elephants multiple times.
There are too many highlights to mention. One thing I really want to express my appreciation for is the tour guide. David is truly an amazing tour guide! He grew up in Mole park and the surrounding area, so he can tell you everything about the park, the animals, plants, local dishes and the culture. Besides, he's a very kind, calm person whom I felt very comfortable with, not to mention very professional. I highly recommend him as a tour guide.
I would definitely recommend spending multiple days to immerse yourself in the nature and culture of this region. Props to Grassroots Tour! I will definitely come back.

The trip with Isaac was vwry well organised from beginning to the end. The pick up from my hotel n Tamale and drop off back was a good part of the service. I appreciate the maximal effort of all guides to find and see the elephant which really happened at the end of the day. I also appreciate the Isaac's parience with little foot injury I had at the day.

I highly recommend it. Ideal if you don't have lots of time for a multiple-day safari/exploration. In 12 hours we managed to see a decent amount of animals (elephants included) and get to the eco-village (bought some shea butter). Big credit to my guide David, who was with me all the way (important for safety and security) giving me tips and advice, as well as head-ups for different situations. He grew up in the Mole national park, so he could give extra inside information. Very polite and professional in his job.

After months of planning we made it to Ghana and was not disappointed! Our tour centered “On The Return” and the connection between Jamaica and Ghana. Full with historical site visits, amazing dinners, loads of shopping and a visit to a local school. Grassroots gave us their best with Issac and our driver Mr. Ebi from the moment we got off the plane until we had to say goodbyes! Can’t wait to do it again!
