- yvonnedY621RF0 contributionsHoover Dam - don't miss this one!Our trip to the Hoover Dam was outstanding. Of course the scenery was gorgeous and the transportation was top notch. But what made it outstanding was the personality and depth of knowledge of our tour guide. The information she conveyed about the history of the area was amazingly detailed and woke me up to the dangers the area is facing due to global warming. Many thanks!Written 5 October 2024

- Bradley201220080 contributionsHoover TripThis claimed that I could be picked up from my hotel but I had to Uber from MGM to The Excalibur. The trip started late. He said a bus broke down on the first trip. The driver was friendly. He shared a lot of information. The views were amazing. The air conditioner on the bus was not cold enough in 108 degree heat. The water was room temperature. I appreciate the views but would not do this again.Written 8 July 2024

Bob was a great guide, very informative on the history of the dam. It was a shorter tour, which was perfect. We were able to stop at a few spots to see Boulder City, Lake Mead, the Tillman Bridge and views from the Arizona side as well.

This tour was fantastic! John was incredibly knowledgeable, personable, humorous, and attentive to our needs in every respect. He offered little courtesies that would make our experience more enjoyable, and was open to questions all along the way. We not only saw Hoover Dam, but also Lake Mead and Boulder City. John gave us an explanation in real life terms of the triumph and tragedy that was the history of building the Dam, putting it into the context of the times.

Awesome Trip. Chris our guide was amazing. Chris was early to pick up and spotted us right away when we arrived. We left promptly on time and headed out for the Hoover Dam. On the way Chris was very informative, giving us tips on local Vegas things and history of the area we were traveling through. We stopped along the way briefly to see some mountain goats up close and got some great pictures. When we arrived at our destination he gave us ample time to take pictures and view the dam from atop the new bridge. He took as many pictures as you wanted of your group and I must add he is very good with an iPhone camera. Onto the dam itself for more history and information and photos. Chris was a wealth of knowledge about the entire building of the dam and the history around it. He had lots of trivia and little know information too that he shared with us. One example was we learned that at first a little if the young men in their 20’s hired to build the dam were quitting because of the hard long hours and small pay. But then some women suggested the government hire men in their 30’s with families who had more to work for as this was during the Great Depression. Sure enough it worked, less men were quitting now and the dam was actually finished ahead of schedule. Chris also gave us some very interesting information about how much water in Lake Mead is gone because of a severe drought in the area. He pointed out several ways we could see this. On the way back he spotted an even larger number of mountain goats grazing in a park, so he pulled back into the park for a spectacular photo shoot. There were over 20 goats grazing and we were able to get up very close for some great photos. I would highly recommend Chris and Mr.Las Vegas tours for a tour of the Hoover dam.

Great experience on this tour. Melissa was extremely friendly and knowledgeable about the history of the valley and talked through the need for the dam. Tour takes you through historic Boulder City and you stop at Hemenway Park for your first photo opp of Lake Mead. You then head to Mike O'Callaghan - Pat Tillman Memorial Bridge which provides helicopter-worthy photos of the Hoover Dam... Just amazing views! You wrap up with a stop at the Hoover Dam gift shop for final photo opps and souvenirs. Tour comes with snacks and bottled water. Looking forward to using Mr. Las Vegas Tours for future tours!

I was picked up in a clean white van right on time. Our driver used a headset microphone so all could hear in the van. Easy drive to the dam with a stop at a park to see big horn sheep grazing and then drove through the historic district of Boulder City. We saw the old mountain railroad tunnels now used as walking/bike paths and the gorgeous blue colors of Lake Mead. We walked to the middle of the expansion bridge for perfect views of the dam then drove to the Arizona side for a view of the dam lake side. During our travels there were bathrooms at two locations. Nice drive back to the Strip.

Our driver was the best. From the pickup to to drop off, he was entertaining Not only was he able to share a wealth of knowledge about the destination but also about Vegas in general.
He was very polite, funny and just a guy you could feel comfortable with.
The sights were awesome, the Hoover dam and such but the driver was it for me

This trip was great for what we wanted. We stopped on the way to Hoover Dam and our guide Bob told us history about Boulder City and Lake Mead. We then went on to the Dam it’s self. 3 hours was a perfect amount of time to cover the key sites. Snacks & water were included also which was a welcomed bonus :)

This is a “must see” site near Las Vegas. It is truly a marvel in construction and engineering. Our guide, John, pointed out or stopped at the most advantageous points to take photos. His knowledge of the history of the area and the construction of both the dam and the new bridge was extensive. He encouraged our group to interact and share our experiences, making our trip more enjoyable

Our tour guide Chris was so informative and made the trip to and from the Hoover Dam seem short with all the information he provided about hotels, dining, Boulder City, the Hoover Dam and more. Also friendly and so willing to take pictures for everyone. Great experience!

Hi I just googled Things to do in Las Vegas or something similar to that and it was one of the things that came up. We enjoyed it and we also saw the Michael Jackson show with an image of him, but the sthow was STUPENDOUS!!!

Just want to confirm the duration since we have other plans. Not sure if the 3 hours includes all the drop offs & picks-ups. If I book the noon tour about what time can I expect to be dropped back off at the pick-up point?
Written 27 December 2022
Do allow a little extra time depending on your drop off location. We were back by 4:00 but we also encountered some traffic . Have fun!
Written 28 December 2022
I read online that currently "the interior sections of the Hoover Dam are closed". Is that correct? That might affect the type and/or length of the tour I want to take. I assume this is due to the transformer explosion that happened there a few weeks ago.

Does this tour actually let you get out and walk over the main dam bridge please? If not then which tour does, as not obvious please?
Written 6 July 2022
They let you walk across The Mike O'Callaghan–Pat Tillman Memorial Bridge in front of the Hoover Dam. It is the best view of the dam for photos. Google the bridge and you will see the photo ops you will get. I hope that helps!

What is a COOLER (AS REFERRED TO IN THE EXCLUSIONS)
Is it just an insulated cool bag or something else ?
Written 11 May 2022
I believe they mean as in a six pack size bag/box. There is no storage room in the van so all your belongings need to be in your lap or beside your feet such as a purse.

I think he does the pickups based on where the guests are located for a particular tour date and time. For my tour, he did pickups at Treasure Island (my hotel), Excalibur, Tropicana Hotel and Marriott Vacations Club. I don’t think he just has set hotels where he picks up from. Depending where persons are located for that particular tour, then he will set the pickup. However, if it’s not your hotel, it’s usually within close walking distance.
