Pickup details- We can pick up at any accommodations or addresses in West Yellowstone, Big Sky, Old Faithful area, Old Faithful Inn, Gardiner, or Bozeman. if you're staying in island Park we request that you meet us in West Yellowstone at a convenient meeting spot with safe/ free parking for the entire day. We have 6am or 7am listed as a suggested pick up time but we can pick up your group at any time that you want. For those that want to maximize your wildlife viewing experience and want to get ahead of the crowds we can start your tour as early as 5am depending on the time of year and your starting location. Just let us know what works best for your family or group. We do not provide breakfast. Please plan ahead by making coffee in your hotel room/ lobby and pick up some fruit, yogurt, donuts, snacks, etc the night before your tour from a grocery store to eat for breakfast. You are welcome to eat our assortment of healthy snacks for breakfast to keep you full before lunch. We visited in November and would have never seen so much without his assistance. Immediately when we drove into the gate he spotted coyotes. From there we saw antelope, deer, elk, bison and rams. Even a very complacent moose. The best part was when he took us to an isolated overlook for my fiancé to propose. He fed us a delicious lunch. Then the finale was when we found the Mollie’s wolf pack trying to take down one of the bison. We will definitely be back in another season to see all the creatures that were sleeping this time!Written 28 November 2024

We tend to get guides to help us ensure we get the most out of our trips. While we have had some great tours in the past, Andrea surpassed all of the previous guides we've had on other adventures. He was polite, professional, kept us safe, and was knowledgeable on every question we asked. We only had 2 days in Yellowstone, but saw more wildlife, waterfalls, and geysers than we could imagine! - shellya5480 contributionsExcellent High End Tour of YellowstoneWe were looking for a more “luxury” tour of Yellowstone for our family of 6. I couldn’t have asked for better. To start off with, we were staying in Cooke City and most tours come out of west Yellowstone. When I told them where we were staying, our guide actually came to Cooke City and stayed so we didn’t have to drive to him each morning! To start with our guide , Andrea. He was just fabulous. I can’t say enough great things. He immediately was comfortable and conversational with everyone. This is no easy feat with 3 teenagers. He is incredibly knowledgeable about the park and wildlife but easy to talk to and never felt like he was stressed or bored. He tailored our tour to our group. If a hike was too much for my mom, he offered to stay behind. He immediately figured out what was comfortable for everyone and always recommended alternates. We would not have begun to see the wildlife that we saw without him. We saw wolves, grizzly, buffalo, antelope and everything in between. The suburban was clean, nice and roomy. All the water and portable snacks you could want. Lunches were great (again, 3 teenagers and no complaints). I would 100% book this again and recommend anyone I know. Worth every penny! We were able to see grizzlies, bison, big horn sheep, elk, grouse, a horned owl and the best surprise of the day an unexpected wolf. The knowledge of Andrea took us to exactly where the wolf would cross the road and we got awesome pics and videos. Absolutely amazing day. Would recommend to anyone.. A+Written 10 September 2024

Despite initially missing Old Faithful, Alex expertly timed our visit so that we got to see both Old Faithful and the Beehive geysers erupt simultaneously—a truly unforgettable sight! He also took us to a breathtaking spot by the lake for a peaceful lunch and guided us on walks to scenic vistas that we would have never discovered on our own. - 700francescae0 contributionsAmazing Yellowstone ExperienceMy partner and I had the most amazing tour of Yellowstone hosted by Noah! He was extremely friendly and very knowledgeable about the area! It was completely private so it was just us 3! It was our very first time visiting and we appreciated being taken to the less well known spots and unique hideaways that most people won't get to see and that, had we have taken ourselves would never have found. It was about a 10 hour day, Noah tried to fit in everything he possibly could, we had tonnes of snacks, drinks, plenty of bathroom breaks and lunch was delicious! And we picked us up right from our accommodation and dropped us back. We will 100% be back to do the wildlife tour, thanks for a once in a lifetime experience!Written 26 August 2024

She was very knowledgeable about the animals, the history, and the geological features. She picked us up at the Canyon Lodge at 6:00 a.m. An early morning in Yellowstone is an entirely different experience. There were few cars and people, and the sunrise was amazing. She took us to see wolf cubs playing by their den through her spotting scope. We did so many things that made our trip very special. My Aunt was searching online when she came across Derek and his adventure tour company that has excursions offered within Yellowstone National Park. She was able to speak to him directly on the phone. He was so kind that he actually took her call while he was on a movie set in LA. My Aunt was just amazed he even took the time to talk to her while working on a TV set. But as we all discovered later, that is the type of guy Derek is. My Aunt and Uncle were going to be in Yellowstone May 10-13. According to the Yellowstone Adventure website there were no tours available on those dates. Derek is so incredible that he was willing to open up the tour schedule early so my Aunt could book the tour with when she was requesting. She booked a full day trip that could accommodate up to 5 people. This is where I come in, since the price does not change if you add additional people up to 5, both my husband and myself we able to come on the trip too.
The day of our excursion we were to be ready at 8:30am at the Snow Lodge near Old Faithful. Derek pulled up in a big black suburban with a big, goofy grin on his face. He just exudes love for life and positivity. We all were instant friends and at ease with each other. Though it was obvious, my Uncle let Derek know that he is blind and would appreciate any and all descriptions he was willing to give while we road around. Derek passed out professional grade binoculars to all of us except my Uncle (ha-ha), and our trip began. We made our way through the park keeping our eyes peeled for anything that moved. Derek dazzled us with his vast knowledge of the park and its rich history as we rode around looking for wildlife. My Uncle was like a sponge the entire trip, just soaking every word Derek said.
My Aunt conveyed her love of birds so Derek made sure we stopped to see the Harlequin Ducks that only stop by Yellowstone a couple of weeks each year. We just happened to be there at the right time. My Aunt loved them. They were gorgeous. My husband was hoping to see his first wolf. So Derek gave his all. As our trip was coming to an end, it was unbelievable timing, we actually spotted a wolf in the distance. We were also lucky enough to see not one but two grizzly bears! The day long excursion was EPIC due to Derek and his incredible personality, knowledge, and compassion for his guests to have their best trip possible.

To say the tour was magnificent is an understatement! Derek took us on a day long, wonderful tour of Yellowstone. His knowledge of all aspects of the park was phenomenal. His insight gave us an appreciation beyond just the beauty of the landscape. The information he shared with us about the wildlife and geology was remarkable and reflects his training and experience. His know how of getting us in and out of the heavily trafficked spots allowed us to use our time efficiently so that we got the most out of our visit. No detail was unattended to. We stopped for ice cream and even went to his secret spot for a private lunch (complete with a cloth tablecloth) at an discovered spot in the park..... you will have to take the tour to find out where it is. Derek’s sense of humor and genuine hospitality made a long day seem to fly by. He was an excellent guide and will exceed your expectations. This tour is highly recommended. There’s no way you would be disappointed!!!!

This tour of Yellowstone with Derek as our guide was a true example that you get what you pay for, and this amazing day was worth every penny. Derek’s knowledge was apparent form the start. From information about the geothermal sites to the extensive facts about the animal populations in the park, we finished the tour knowing that we would have had to study/read for days/weeks to gain this info on our own. Derek even gave recommendations for our itinerary the next day to see wildlife in the early morning and a few other geothermal features we did not see that day.
Beyond the comprehensive tour hitting all of the main sites and a few more unique, less crowded parts of the park, Derek was easy going, fun and kept us laughing the whole day. Our family had special requests that he and the company were willing to work with. I don’t think any other guide would have been as accepting.
The picnic lunch was actually really good. It was enjoyed in a secret spot with views. All in all, this private tour was the one to do in Yellowstone if you want to both see and learn everything you can in a day. You won’t regret it.

Steve was a knowledgeable, attentive tour guide. Before our tour he suggested that we start our excursion 1.5 hours earlier to avoid crowds and have the best conditions for viewing the famous sites. Steve is a passionate bear photographer. He shared stories about years of tracking a grizzly named Raspberry who lives in Yellowstone. The picnic lunch by the lake was delicious, and my family enjoyed the scenic view. Steve knew the perfect times to observe the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone, Old Faithful and Grand Prismatic. He went above and beyond to make this experience comfortable and memorable for our group. In the days following the tour, Steve sent us pictures of our tour and his beloved bear, Raspberry. I would highly recommend this excursion to all, and kudos to Steve for being an amazing guide!

Derrick was an awesome tour guide! He knew all the secret spots and avoided all the crazy traffic and lines. We saw bison, elk, big horn sheep, and a mama bear and cubs! We saw the best of Yellowstone, geysers, thermal pools, water falls, canyons. He even picked us up from Bozeman at 6am. He was very knowledgeable from both his experience and educational background. We really enjoyed his company and would recommend to anyone who is looking for a high end, private experience that’s not your typical Yellowstone tourist trip.

My girlfriend and I went on a full day winter safari in Yellowstone. Derek picked us up from our hotel in Bozeman and drove us down to Yellowstone. The whole ride down we learned about the Yellowstone 101 and some of the animals we might see. Once we got to the park, Derek was able to find us all the animal highlights: wolves, coyotes, pronghorn antelope, elk, bison and big horn sheep. It was a great day and definitely the highlight of our trip. Derek was a great guide, easy to spend a day with and full of knowledge about the park and wildlife. I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone, especially those who are truly interested in learning about Yellowstone. Thanks Derek!

We had a spectacular day with Derek of Yellowstone Adventure Tours! Derek is extremely knowledgeable about all of the wildlife, geology, plants and Yellowstone NP history. His tour gave us a much more in-depth understanding and appreciation of everything we saw. He also made the day adventurous and fun by taking us off the beaten path. (Be prepared… he might spring a trivia question on you at any moment 😉). We saw all of the main attractions, but got away from the crowds too. He tailored our hikes to fit our groups interests. There are certainly no guarantees on spotting wildlife, but Derek knew the best places to look. We saw a ton of Elk, bison, a mamma grizzly with 3 cubs, another grizzly feasting on the remains of a deceased bison, ravens, long horned sheep and the elusive harlequin duck! Our group had a second car following Derek’s vehicle and he did a great job of keeping the people in that car feeling included and engaged through a walkie-talkie. I absolutely recommend Yellowstone Adventure Tours and Derek for anyone making a visit to Yellowstone NP. Our day with Derek was the highlight of our two week trip!

We had an incredible day touring Yellowstone with Dave, our private guide. He picked us up at our hotel at 6:30 AM and had us back by 4:15. His knowledge and expertise enabled us to see the entire Lower Loop region and learn a lot about not only the sights we saw but the entire ecosystem of the park. He knew the best routes to take to avoid traffic, he knew where the best spots to see animals were, the best viewing spots for the various places we went, an incredible spot for our delicious deli lunch, and even where the best bathrooms were throughout our day. He was courteous and kind and it was well worth the cost of the trip. Highlights included the Upper and Lower Falls (with a short easy hike), the Grand Prismatic Spring (with another short hike), Old Faithful and the historic and beautiful lodge, and lunch on the beautiful Yellowstone Lakeside. We learned about the various rivers that flow through the park, the fires that had burned through the lodgepole pine at various times, the volcano that produced the huge Caldera that Yellowstone sits in, and the different bacteria that produce the many colors throughout the park. We learned about (and saw) the difference between springs, geysers, and mud pots in the thermal areas. Although the wildlife was not as prevalent as we might have hoped, Dave knew the best spots to see various animals, and we did end up seeing bison in multiple spots, a mama bear with two cubs, and a mama elk with 2 babies. There is NO WAY we would have seen all we saw and experienced in one day without Dave! Couldn't recommend this tour highly enough. One suggestion--with customers in all rows of seats in the comfortable Suburban, a microphone would have been helpful.

Book this tour! It was awesome! Derek (the owner) took my family of 7 on a 2 day tour through Yellowstone and we had THE BEST time! We saw and learned so much. We hiked, we saw animals, geothermal pools and geysers and all the major sites! We would have never come close to seeing all the sights we saw if we had tried to guide ourselves.
The picnic lunches at 2 scenic spots were perfect both days & he packs a variety of drinks and snacks as well!
We have 3 girls ages 5,6,7 & Derek was so good at keeping them entertained as well. He can tweak and adjust what you’ll see & how long your day lasts based on your group’s interests and energy levels. Since we were a larger party, we were able to put a few people in his Suburban and a few in our Suburban which followed behind him all day. Finally, Derek knows Yellowstone!! He taught us so much to begin with & throughout our adventure with him, we threw so many questions at him and he answered all of them. There was nothing he didn’t know! We were so impressed and so thankful we booked this tour and would definitely do it again!! Book this tour-you won’t regret it!
The picnic lunches at 2 scenic spots were perfect both days & he packs a variety of drinks and snacks as well!
We have 3 girls ages 5,6,7 & Derek was so good at keeping them entertained as well. He can tweak and adjust what you’ll see & how long your day lasts based on your group’s interests and energy levels. Since we were a larger party, we were able to put a few people in his Suburban and a few in our Suburban which followed behind him all day. Our family had a great time on our tour of Yellowstone with Derek. This was the first for most of us and he provided an experience that both the kids and adults could enjoy. There are so many things to see in Yellowstone and he provided an experience that catered to each of our interests. He also knew all of the amazing spots off the beaten path which are often overlooked by many visitors. We had one young child and he was great at keeping him engaged, our son hiked well past the point where he would normally complain and had a great time. Not only did we get a great tour of the park, but there is no way we could have covered as much as we did with Derek. This is just a small example, but we were able to experience Old Faithful by driving up minutes before it erupted and watching away from the crowds, an experience that would have easily been 1-2 hours for us to do ourselves as tourists. But more than the experience Derek is a great person and really fun to be around. We will definitely do another tour with Derek next time we visit Yellowstone and he has an open invitation for dinner with the family anytime.

How easy is the walking aspect of the tour . Plan on bringer older adults . Thank you

Derek asked about our "walking desires" and if we had any restrictions and then he made the day's itinerary to fit our needs. Agree that if you don't want to walk very much then most of it will be on boardwalks along the geysers and hot springs. So the walking aspect is very easy.

I agree with the previous answer. There are a limited number of seats in a suburban. But this is a great tour!!

Are masks required? i.e. will the driver be required to wear a mask while my family and I are inside the vehicle with him/her?

My answer would be the same. Our guide was totally cool with whatever we wanted to do. We preferred not to wear masks, but if we wanted to wear them (or if we asked him to) I'm sure he would have accommodated our request.

I would call and ask Derek. We were in a Tahoe. I’m not sure what the passenger max is, or if he has any other vehicles. I would definitely reach out to him if I were you. He does a great job.
