About
Welcome to Minneapolis, the home of Nerf Balls, the singer and songwriter Prince, and, yes, Zubaz pants. On this self-guided audio tour, you'll stroll along the Mississippi River and cross it on the Stone Arch Bridge. You'll end the walk on an island overlooking St. Anthony Falls. Along the way, you’ll hear about: • The history of the milling industry in Minneapolis • The massive Washburn A Mill explosion of 1878 • The 35W Bridge collapse of 2007 • The secret history of "Funkytown" • An ugly mansion with 86 TVs • Cougar attacks • The untimely death of Tiny Tim • The hiring of a hitman in St. Paul • ”Untalented but adventurous” German artists, to quote the author Jonathan Raban • How long it takes a single drop of water to travel down the Mississippi – and how long it take a person to make the same journey This walking tour can be enjoyed on location or even virtually at home with VoiceMap's Continuous Play function which disables the GPS playback. As a native Minneapolitan, I was skeptical. But a friend recommended but this tour, and it was awesome! I learned things about my hometown I never knew. Would definitely recommend for locals or visitors who want a deeper dive into the city’s past.

Great trip/intuitive tech: the oldster (Nana) in this group was responsible for getting this trip organized and it was super easy AND absolutely possible even for Luddite grandpa. Love that the gps directions allow you to leave your phone in your pocket or take pictures. The narrative was informative, humorous and good variety of “input” from Minneapolis writers. Loved the story of the family canoe trip. We started after hours at the Open Book so missed the action there but met a lovely “host” who thought Open Book should/could make more of being the starting point - she keeps meeting people but didn’t know the connection. A very enjoyable hour+ in the cool of the evening.

As someone who moved to Minneapolis several years ago, I found this tour both illuminating and fun. My mom, who was visiting, and I learned a lot and loved the walk. The mix of humor with history makes you feel like you're being led around the area by a knowledgeable friend. It's great that you can stop at any time, wander off and come back on, or even finish another day. Definitely worth it for anyone who is wanting to have a unique experience.

We enjoyed the snippets of personal experience and historical tidbits that the narrator included. Pleasant speaking voice.
The tour did seem to end abruptly leaving me to wonder if we’d missed something since we were a long way from our starting point.

This was my first time visiting Minneapolis, and the tour was a perfect introduction to city, sights, and history. I'd highly recommend even if you live in or around the Cities. It's fun, funny, and perfect way to spend an afternoon in and around the river. Five stars.

I bought 8 tours for myself and friends. It is a beautiful tour with great narration. You need to allot about 45-60 minutes to download and study this app and more to help others. Not intuitive.
Unfortunately the download and operation of the app did not work well on my android. One of the other I-phoĺnes had a little trouble all the others loved it.
So while I could hear my wife's phone in the low noise areas, I have damaged hearing and it was SUPER IRRITATING. My tour kicked in an out at random and I restarted the app 4 times before giving up.
The walk is great but not circular. It essentially doubles your time walking back the same route.

Thanks for the feedback on this – and we're really sorry you had trouble using the tour. We are a little constrained by the the fact that Tripadvisor only gives us room to explain how you download the tour on your ticket under Before You Go. But the steps listed there are straightforward, I think: 1. Install VoiceMap 2. Create an account 3. Go to Tour Codes 4. Enter the code listed on your ticket, right beside these instructions We offer over 750 tours like this one and most same-day purchases are redeemed in under 5 minutes, but if we can make this easier, we absolutely will. Can you let us know where you got stuck? You can just reply to the email we sent you, which also gives you access to a free tour. Thanks again, Iain

Great way to spend an afternoon outside. Love his soothing voice. Well written and enjoyed by me and my husband. We were able to stop for lunch and carry on with the tour. Loved the flexibility of this. Perfect for social distancing.

We enjoyed the conversational style. As if you were visiting a friend who's showing you around.
Also liked the reminders of things to see and do in the riverwalk area!

We learned a lot, informative, self- paced.

Good directions, enjoyed. It. The bridge was closed so we weren’t able to complete half the tour but that was no reflection of the tour.

We're sorry you couldn't finish the tour Sandra! If you have another opportunity, you have access to the tour for as long as you like – and you can also use it at home, with the virtual playback mode.

Nice way to see the city and get a little history. Easy walk. Definitely recommend. The app was a little confusing.
