You have to see this even if you’re not a racing fan.
I enjoyed learning about the history of the Kentucky derby. The exhibits about the jockeys and how the horses are trained was very interesting.

Lots of interesting history
Oct 2021
A group from work went as a celebration and team building trip to Churchill Downs. We got a group rate discount and saved a few dollars per ticket. The reservation desk was very easy to work with ahead of the trip and the check-in was very easy. We watched the video (20m), did the track tour (30m) and toured the museum after. All of it was interesting and a great addition to our track trip.

Informative Tour, But A Bit Too Brief!
Sep 2021
This is an excellent museum and wonderful tour. I did not have a long time to visit, so appreciated the tour being quick, but truly I wish I could have spent longer there. The tour felt a bit too brief as there is so much to be discussed and shared. It is quite exciting to get to walk into the stadium!

Fun & informative visit
We there a :30 tour with Logan & heard about the history of the park & derby. We watched a :20 film that was 360 degrees around us about the people & horses that tell the backstory. We enjoyed the interactive exhibits getting a little silly. We spent 2 1/2 well spent hours here. I

This event included a 30 minute tour into Churchill Downs. This was very informative for a 30 minute tour. We learned about the race track and saw a race. The museum has so much information about the derby from the very beginning to present times. Definitely recommend a visit.

Well-worth the visit and a great multimedia experience of The Greatest Race. If we had had more time, we would have absolutely taken the Churchill Downs walking tour!

Barnyard and Backside Tour
Barnyard and Backside Tour + general museum tour

Keana was our guide for the early morning barnyard and backside tour. She was so informative and answered all of our questions. She was excited with us despite a steady rain. What a great introduction to the Derby and Churchill Downs. The tour is conducted from a van. Easy to hear our guide and see the grounds. Really neat to see the starting gate used in the Derby, the stables, the backside of the track (looking at the iconic grandstand), AND most importantly watch the horses and riders during an exercise block.

The museum is of manageable size and laid out well with more information about the Derby and specific race winners.

The general admission tour was somewhat repetitive after the previous tour, however, it was raining harder then and our movement was somewhat limited. Definitely recommend checking out the tours above and beyond the general admission.

Parking was a bit confusing in the early AM dimness but ample and included. Recommend reference the website, check by phone the day prior, and give yourself a bit of time.

For equestrians, I would love a tour that included information about vet care, farriers, saddle making, and hearing from someone with a trainer’s experience.

I think more could be said (either through an exhibit or on tour) about the care of the horses, especially after their racing career. Rehoming them is a major effort. Like all purebred horses and athletes in high level competition, they are susceptible to significant disease and injury. The racing industry must commit huge resources to R&D on improving conditions etc, it would be good to learn more about what they are doing to keep the horses safe and healthy.

Overall good experience at iconic KY destination.

Cool Place
Very cool place to go see. For a family that didn’t know much about the history of the Derby, we certainly learned a lot. There’s so much to see and there’s no shortage of items to look at. The tour we took was neat especially going out by the track. The guide was very knowledgeable and didn’t leave any questions unanswered.

A must for horse racing fans
Sep 2021 • Friends
Such a fun experience if you’re at all a horse racing fan. So informative and well-done. You must stay and watch The Greatest Race. It’s the free movie with admission and is shown on a cool 360-degree screen. It gave me goosebumps! Would definitely go again.

Kentucky must see
The tour was a bit shorter than expected but it was awesome seeing the grounds. Guide was knowledgeable and fun. I enjoyed the round theater movie as well.
