- dave160920240 contributionsSierra was a great guide!Sierra was a great guide. She knows the history and kept us entertained and moving along. Her dress up outfit set the mood, and she made sure we could all hear her when she spoke.Written 8 October 2024
- GhoulL900 contributionsSomething fun and different to do!Overall had a good time, wish there were more stories packed in- but I enjoyed how bits of Mystic’s history were sprinkled in. Interesting to learn a few things!!Written 8 October 2024
- MeganBOct20240 contributionsWalking Ad for Local BusinessesThe tour felt more focused advertising for all the local businesses rather the stories. Tour guide was good at keeping the group together but completely overused a few phrases at every stop. It is a great concept for a tour, but they need to rework their script and focus less on advertising the businesses and more on the stories themselves.Written 6 October 2024

My husband and I agreed this was the highlight of our Mystic weekend. It set the tone for an eerie and historical visit. Our guide was great. She was not cheesy and very informative. I'm not into the cheap tricks or easy scares and this was none of that. This was simply a retelling of a historical area through the eyes of those who believe in paranormal activity.
We really enjoyed learning about the area and love a good ghost story. The weather was perfect as it was just a little crisp with clouds rolling in, really adding to the storytelling. We went on to stop at all the spots mentioned on the tour. I highly suggest not only doing this tour but making it your first activity. Knowing about the place your visiting, while exploring, changes your experience. We felt like we were really immersed in the history, even after the tour was over.

Despite the rain, our downtown mystic ghost tour with Jason was an unforgettable experience! Jason was enthusiastic, funny, and kept our attention the entire time—even my 11-year-old daughter, who usually can't sit through a full movie, was captivated! The ghost stories were not only intriguing but also well-researched, with evidence to back them up. Jason's storytelling made the history come alive, and we had a fantastic time. Highly recommend this tour to anyone looking for a mix of history, humor, and a few chills!

For the most part, I enjoyed the tour, and finding out more about the town.... however, the tour was entirely overbooked... there were so many people on the tour that we couldn't even hear the guide's stories most of the time, plus she didn't even wait for the group to assemble before she started talking and so most of us missed a lot of the stories.

Thank you for your feedback! We are glad you enjoyed learning about Mystic. We understand that it felt crowded but assure you our tour group on this evening was a little over half full so plenty of space was available and we weren't overbooked. Downtown Mystic is such a busy and heavy trafficked town on summer weekends so it can feel crowded sometimes with all the folks around. We recommend the graveyard tour for folks wanting a more intimate experience without that! As for the volume and timing, we will absolutely be able to remedy these issues with our voice amplifier and some longer pauses and will let the team know of your concern. Thank you for visiting us!

Based on the multiple positive reviews, we expected to be thoroughly entertained. We’ve participated in and thoroughly enjoyed a few ghost tours over the years and The Downtown Mystic Ghost Tour was a big disappointment. Our tour guide was obviously following a script but frequently “lost track”, was repetitive, and was not very interesting. Most of the stories also lacked content. There is so much to do in Mystic, but we cannot recommend participating in this tour.

Hi Carol! Thank you for your review about our tour. We are incredibly saddened to have disappointed and as you noted in other reviews, that is not at all what we aim to do. Due to guest demand, our October tours have always been an adaptation of full tour focusing more on the ghost stories. Throughout the year when it isn't spooky season, we are able to go into greater historical depth our guests. That said, each of our guides works hard to bring their own unique voice to the tour content and each performer is different! We would love to offer you an opportunity to return and try this tour again or try an alternate tour with us. Please reach out via our website at your convenience and let us know how we can accommodate this.

Wow! What an impressive company! Everything is thought out so carefully for its guests. I do a lot of ghost tours and you can see the passion these guides have for their job and storytelling. The stories are spooky and entertaining and the route is easy to do. If you are looking for a fun night this is it! Come with an open mind and a positive attitude and you'll enjoy your evening. You don't have to be a ghost believer to enjoy this tour. There is plenty of history and fun facts about the area. You can tell the owner has put a lot of time and research into each story. Highly recommend it if you are coming or passing through Mystic.

Our guide Jason was entertaining, enthusiastic and knowledgeable of Mystic. The tour was about 2 hrs which was a nice way to learn how to get around Mystic city center as well. I love history and learned a lot more about Native American history and colonialism. Would definitely recommend this to all ages

My husband and I took the Mystic tour through town. You are definitely on your feet the entire time with no where to sit, so be prepared. The tour doesn't end where it starts, so we had to walk back a little less than a mile to get back to our car after standing/walking for an hour and 45 minutes. The guide uses a speaker so you can hear everything, however, it is a bit loud and as we are standing outside restaurants and stores, I would imagine it is distracting to the customers of those places.
Yes, all the above can get filed under "Our problem, not Seaside Shadows problem." Agreed, if you are a walking machine you will love this tour. Our guide was very well versed in the history of each location and was filled with tons of information at each location. I was hoping to see a ghost, LOL, but the stories were great either way. It also doesn't need to be an hour 45, they could cut it down. The last place on the tour, the Captain Daniel Packer Inne had the best stories and possibly the best opportunity to see a ghost. Based on that recommendation, my husband and I went there the next night for dinner. Definitely add that to your visit, the food was great and the Inne is very period. No, we didn't see the ghost that haunts it.

Hi Krista, thank you for your feedback and joining us -- Yes, we do advertise our walking tour is a grand total of a mile including the walk back to the car and we bring you back part way -- it is not an additional mile back to where we started as it is one full circle. Additionally, we like to make sure you have as much content as possible and get your value's worth in your time with us. As for local businesses -- we make sure to keep a respectful place and pride ourselves on our relationships with the other small businesses in the community so we can all operate together in celebrating our small town. We are glad you enjoyed your guide's information and the Daniel Packer Inne was also fun for you.

Clearly he loves his town and its history. He tells his stories with respect for them and for his audience. We were 20+ people from 6-ish to 80-ish. The narrative and the surroundings held us all. Who know that Mystic CT itself IS a ghost. Except in the mind of the USPS, Mystic is not a geographic entity! We learned history, geography and of strange happenings. The fertile imagination of my 9 year old grandson kindled bad dreams but no harm done. Thank you for a fine evening, Jason.

We had a lovely time! As a history buff, I loved it, but as a ghost enthusiast, I loved it even more. Jason took us around downtown Mystic, shared many historical events, but also shared some very spooky stories! He was great! This was our second tour with the company. If you want to be a little more spooked, take the cemetery tour! Such a fun experience and will definitely book again!

This was the best part of the day! I visited Mystic for my birthday and I am not local. I was worried about staying in town so late because I had a long drive home, but I really wanted to do this and Im so glad i did. Our guide was a master storyteller who kept us enthralled for the entire evening. The mix of history and ghost experiences made me really get a sense of the area. I will definitely be taking another of these tours when I’m back in town.

It mentions historical murders but is not scary. Children who can’t walk fast for an hour should not attend. They say 13 and up. We had a kid who was about 10 in our group and it was appropriate content. However, small kids would be detrimental to the other guests’ experience.
