About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- shannonwC3184FN0 contributionsHard to Describe how FantasticMy trip to Bhutan with Acorn Tours and Travel and guide Norbu Gyeltshen was an amazing experience. Setting up the itinerary was easy with Acorn Tours owner Karma, and all details were well attended to and even on the go changes handled effortlessly, that sometimes happen when trekking. Accommodations provided were solid and comfortable. Norbu is an amazing guide and thoughtful in every way. He is so knowledgeable about Buddhism, the cultural and religious base of Bhutan, and on our hikes knew every flower, tree, bird and animal. A wealth of knowledge and highly experienced for high adventure in Bhutan. I would visit again in a heartbeat! Fantastical, magical, mystical, amazingly kind people, and stunning natural beauty at every turn. Cannot say enough about the high level of service and commitment to our enjoyment by Bhutan Acorn Tours and Travel, Karma the owner, and most highly qualified guide in Bhutan, Norbu...and our excellent driver as well Dorgi.Written 4 December 2024

- G566ZCpiaj0 contributionsAmazing Experience! Highly Recommended.I had an incredible experience traveling through Bhutan with Bhutan Acorn Tours. Karma was exceptionally responsive, accommodating my requests to customize the itinerary, hotels, and meals before my arrival. Everything went smoothly and exactly as planned once I got there. The highlight of the tour was connecting with my guide, Kezang, and her sister, Tashi, who was also my driver. They were both so kind and dedicated, working hard to create a truly memorable experience. Their warmth and effort solidified my belief that Bhutan is a place I’ll return to again and again.Written 24 November 2024
- Pam L0 contributionsWorth the investment and worth the wait! This entire experience was unbelievable. I’d waited 16 years to make this happen and it surpassed my expectations in every way. The staff of Bhutan Acorn is the best! Our drivers, the Cook, camp support and our beloved guide, Lobzang, were genuinely kind, attentive, knowledgeable and took care of every detail. The tour was the perfect mix trek, culture and adventure. The scenery was as beautiful as the Bhutanese people, who made us feel like honored guests at the festival. 10/10 or 5/5 on this review. Simply amazing!Written 21 November 2024

- OnAir8263210 contributionsWonderful BhutanBhutan is a magical place ad we were very lucky to experience it on the Jomolhari Loop trek with Bhutan Acorn Tours. The trek itself is somewhat demanding so a good degree of fitness is recommended and we were somewhat unfortunate that the weather was not ideal for a few of the trekking days but that being siad the level of service given by Bhutan Acorn was excellent and this lead to us having a wonderful time. The guide Norbo, was excellent and Karma (the company owner) came along on the trek with us, which no doubt put pressure on the guides and help to ensure that everything went well. I was particularly surprised at the quality of the food we were provided with considering that it was always prepared in a 'field kitchen'. The excellent service continued once the trek was over and we spent a few days in both Paro and Thimphu. I could not recommend this tour company enough - if you are fortunate enough to be considering a trip to Bhutan use this company and be prepared to be completely amazed by the country and its people.Written 14 October 2024
- S5950MVcolinh0 contributions6 days of a life changing outlook of a place existing out of a dreamI cannot recommend this trip enough. It is for active hikers, but it is worth every step you take. If you get a chance, please request Tashi, he is one of the best guides out there. So happy and knowledgeable he really made us feel welcome. He taught us all about bhutan and buddism and how special this place really is. I cannot recommend this trip enough. It is worth every penny!Written 23 August 2024

- Mabelws0 contributionsAmazing experience of the natural landscapes, flora and fauna of BhutanOur guide (Samdrup) was a very experienced and knowledgeable hiker in Bhutan and took us through many different trails with different amazing views of Bhutan. Our driver was also excellent - even though the roads were rather windy around the mountains, he drove steadily and safely, and always made a point to ensure the vehicle was tidied up/cleaned everyday. We thoroughly enjoyed the company of both our guide and driver, who were always cheerful, friendly and accommodating, while also respectful of when we needed time to ourselves or time to rest. Highly recommended.Written 13 August 2024

- Mirella S0 contributionsThe Happiest Trip Of My Life!It is the happiest country I have ever been to. As a solo female traveller, I felt safe and in awe throughout the trip! The daily schedule was designed in such a way that it offered cultural visits, beautiful treks, and free time! Tashi, my guide, was just outstanding. His enthusiasm for Bhutanese culture and his desire to bring the gorgeousness and history of the country in front was extraordinary. He made each site visit enriching and engaging with his knowledge and enthusiasm :) He also cared for me to ensure that I was always comfortable and having fun, providing me with all my questions answered. Nidup, my driver, was also very good; I could not have asked for a better driver than him. Besides my comfort, he was also very careful while driving, making me feel safe. Furthermore, his friendliness was an extra plus that put a lot of creativity into the journey. All my hotels were comfortable and luxurious and made me feel quite homely. All the places that I came across were as charming as the others. The meals always tasted great, with a blend of Bhutanese dishes and continental! The most memorable part of the tour was the walk to Taktsang Monastery. The scenic views were incredible and left me speechless! I recommend this tour to anyone looking to explore Bhutan! I am already looking forward to returning as soon as possible!!!!Written 9 July 2024
- Exploration8266990 contributionsA Great TourI can't express enough gratitude to Acorn Tours Manager Director Mr. Phuntsho for helping me out arranging this unforgettable Bhutan tour. During the planning phase, I chose a start date based on limited knowledge about Bhutan. Later I asked if I could see a festival while I'm in Bhutan. Mr. Phuntsho altered my previous itinerary and recommend a new start date so that I could go to Tshechu festival in Domkhar on day 5. Seeing the festival turned out to be one of the most impressive experience of the tour. Our tour guide and driver are excellent too. They were professional yet considerate and caring. It was a pleasure to spend 10 days with these two wonderful Bhutanese people. I've visited many countries, Bhutan stood out as one of the most impressive ones. Its serenity, spirituality, pristine land, and its unique somewhat otherworldly culture all worth a visit. Definitely Recommend it!Written 5 July 2024
- Sightseer594345554930 contributions20 days from East to West through BhutanWhat an incredible experience ! This year I realised my more than 30 years old dream, which was to visit Bhutan once in my life, and I must say that thanks to Acorn Tours and Travel, and Karma’s perfect organisation, my dream was more than fulfilled. According to our wishes and with quick responsiveness, Karma organised for my friend and me a tailor-made 20 days tour through the country from East to West, with entry by road into the country from the Jaigaon (India) border. It included a 2 days stay with the Brokpas people in Merak, a stay in Ura to take part to the Ura Yakchoe Festival, with its colourful and spectacular dances, a 2 days excursion to the beautiful off the beaten tracks Haa valley with impressing view of the Himalayan snow covered summits viewed in the far north from the Chelela pass. Lodging choice was a good balance between typical bhutanese homestays/farmstays and conventional hotels of good level, mainly with lovely character. Food was good and abundant, a special mention to the tasty food in the homestays/farmstays where we appreciated the « not too low spiced and occidental tourists adapted » food ! Thank you to Norbu our wonderful, interesting, helpful and lovely guide, giving me a hand whenever the path was too steep or slippery, and very generous with all kind of informations regarding culture, religion, bird- and wildlife, and a pro-photographer on top. Thank you to Nidrup for your good and safe driving, your kind help and great sense of humour. Congratulations Bhutan Acorn T and T, we can only recommend you ! JC + DWritten 18 June 2024

This trip to Bhutan is one of the highlights of my 2024 round-the-world trip. This tour included all of the key attractions in Bhutan that you’d want to see, plus some days in more remote areas such as the Phobjika valley which were stunning. My guide Pema and Driver Dema were exceptional. They were charming, knowledgeable, and truly made this experience feel like a home away from home. I can’t say enough good things about the experience I had and would highly recommend choosing Bhutan Acorn when planning your visit to Bhutan. I’ll be back again one day!

I embarked on a remarkable journey to Bhutan together with my sister in January 2024, and the entire experience was nothing short of extraordinary. From the seamless online booking process to our departure from Paro, every moment was enchanting.
Our pre-travel communication with Mr. Karma from Bhutan Acorn was exceptionally smooth. His timely and detailed responses ensured we were well-prepared for the travel, and the efficient handling of the visa procedure by the agency allowed us to obtain the necessary permits promptly – within just four working days.
Our joy was further amplified by the presence of two outstanding Bhutanese guides, Tashi and Mr. Bumpa. They not only accommodated our last-minute preferences but also prioritized our safety and comfort throughout the journey. During hikes, they adjusted to our pace and made the challenging ascent to the Tiger's Nest enjoyable. Their insightful narratives on Bhutan's history and culture, coupled with their open-mindedness, great sense of humor and friendliness, made us feel like part of the family after just one week together. I will miss them enormously!
Bhutan, with its captivating isolation and authenticity, left a lasting impression. The people are intelligent and welcoming. For those choosing Acorn, I highly recommend opting for a homestay at Leki's in the Punakha Valley. This unique experience provided glimpses into the daily life of Bhutanese people, delightful home-cooked meals, and serene moments around the fire with the locals. The breathtaking view from the house ensured the most restful and profound sleep I've ever experienced.

Solo female traveler here (American). Visited for an 8 day tour and loved it - felt very safe. My guide, Tschering, was amazing and well-informed, and she accommodated for several personal requests throughout my tour. My driver Dorji was also very nice and a safe driver. Favorite part was the wonderful homestay with Aum Leki in Punakha - the area is absolutely beautiful! Even saw some black-necked cranes in the Phobjikha Valley. The hotels and service were excellent overall. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a trustworthy and reasonably priced travel group in Bhutan.
One thing that I might change would be to include the entry fees for the sites in the cost of the overall tour. It only added around $70 USD extra, but it was more including ATM fees etc. If you take this tour, be sure to hit ATMs in Thimpu to have enough cash for the trip!
