- We highly recommend booking at least a few months before the departure date so that we have enough time to ensure the flights are available. If you already have flight tickets to and from Bhutan, we can take bookings up to a week before the departure date. To process visa, it only takes 4-5 business days.
- There are only two airlines that connect Bhutan with the outside world and so securing air tickets can be difficult especially during the months of high season. We recommend you book your international flights a few months in advance especially if you plan to visit during the high season months of March to May and September to November. If you need help in arranging flights to/from Bhutan, please let us know much in advance.
- After you book the tour, kindly send us clear passports copies of all the participants. A biodata page including the machine-readable zone must be seen clearly. Passports should have a minimum of 6 MONTHS validity from the day you depart from Bhutan. You may also want to check the passport requirements by your next destination country after Bhutan. A copy of your e-Visa will be emailed to you once it is approved. It only takes 4-5 business days to get visa approval and it is 100 percent guaranteed as long as we receive clear passport copies of all the participants. The actual visa will be stamped on your passport upon arrival. Send the passport copies to the Local Supplier E-mail address.

About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- Rosalind K0 contributionsExtraordinary hiking and cultural tourAs a female solo traveler I had an incredible tour organized by Bhutan Acorn Tours and Travels. Bhutan has been the highlight of my Asia trip so far. I truly enjoyed the balance of learning about Bhutan culture, history and way of life, alongside, hiking extraordinary trails. My guide, Sonam, was amazing. I enjoyed learning about Bhutan through Sonam’s vast knowledge and in-depth story telling. I truly appreciated his encouragement and kindness as I wasn’t completely confident in my hiking abilities. His sense of humour helped me get through the hardest part of the hikes. I’m so grateful to have Sonam as a guide because he always goes above and beyond to either show me unique viewpoints or a great place/time to take the perfect photo. My driver, Tschering, was also amazing and I felt completely safe even though some of the roads in Bhutan looked harrowing (considering all the cliffs and hairpin turns). Tschering always offered a smooth ride and was always cheerful in greeting us at the end of each hike. I appreciated that both Sonam and Tschering would check in on me to ensure that I was having the best experience possible. I couldn’t have asked for better travel companions and guides!Written 22 March 2025
- H7496EKemilyo0 contributionsWhat a beautiful adventure !This trip was absolutely Incredible! We did the 10 day essence tour with my brother and Bhutan acorn teams made it a seamless and wonderful experience. The preparation and planning of the tour was very clear and detailed, with a very helpful team to support us. Our guide Pema and our driver Sonam were the best duo for this wonderful tour! We discovered all the wonderful treasures of this beautiful country and well preserved culture thanks to them! They made this experience memorable and great fun. Always attending to our needs, being able to see six districts in a very carefree manner with such a great driver, and gaining so much wisdom with Pema as our guide. The quality of service in Bhutan was excellent. What a great opportunity to travel, discover a new culture and be able to give back responsibly through the SDF.Written 16 March 2025
- RobinH3240 contributions9 Days of AweFrom start to finish, my experience with Bhutan Acorn Tours & Travel was wonderful. All of the pre-departure communication was clear, fast, and professional. As a solo female traveler, the agency assigned a female guide and female driver which I appreciated. Now that my trip to Bhutan is complete, I recognize that this team of sisters was the key to the positive experience. Kezang, the guide, has an incredible knowledge of the history and culture of the nation. Plus, she enjoys hiking as much as I do so our daily outings in the pristine mountain forests was always a joy. Tashi, the driver, maneuvered the narrow winding roads with precision letting me know that I was always safe as we traveled from village to village. During my eight night visit, I stayed in five different accommodations and each was comfortable, in good locations (some with amazing views!), and full of welcoming staff. There was so much delicious food! Every meal provided a variety of dishes that included both local fare and western-influenced options. . . I am a budget traveler so this trip was a big splurge, but it was worth every single penny since nine days of feeling awe, being immersed in natural beauty, and being surrounded by kind and respectful people is priceless.Written 1 March 2025
- pauldD7384WL0 contributionsMagical experience in BhutanWe had an absolutely amazing time on this tour. The company takes care of everything, providing you with a hassle-free experience. Our tour guide (Tshering) and driver (Gyeltshen) were incredibly receptive to our needs, and remained flexible if we wanted to alter the itinerary in any way. Thanks again for everything- it was a magical experience!Written 27 February 2025
- Meander6124420 contributionsAbsolutely incredible tour through Bhutan!Wow - what an incredible trip! Bhutan is absolutely beautiful with so much to see, I wish I had booked for a longer trip. My guide Norbu was so knowledgeable, helpful, and friendly. This tour combined history, culture, food, and daily life so well I feel like I got a slice of everything and learned so much about the country itself. The resorts I stayed at were lovely too. Major shoutouts to Norbu and our driver Nedup for making this an unforgettable experience!Written 7 February 2025
- MerrillHouse0 contributionsThe Best Guide/Driver in the Most Beautiful County! This is a Once in a Lifetime Experience!Thank you so much for arranging a truly unforgettable trip for us! Our guide Tashee and driver Edoo were bot absolutely phenomenal! They truly made the entire experience in your glorious country a magnificent one. We will never forget our time in Bhutan. It is a land of true beauty and both Tashee and Edoo helped us to understand and appreciate that. Make sure you request them!Written 6 February 2025
- Gabelek0 contributionsBest guided journey everBhutan is a different experience. My guide Sonam enriched me with the visual language of Buddhist art history and philosophy, and my driver Nedup was also keen to answer all of my questions without tiring out. This has been one of the two best journeys in my life, the other being Mongolia. Some of the hikes were memorable, like the one where we could see a valley from the top and walk down into it. The spiritual aspect was also interesting since it’s hard to doing an English guide who can explain it in other countries. Bhutanese food is too spicy for my liking but Sonam and Nedup took good care of my after I fainted from eating ema datshi. They also made sure I could come back safely when I chose to explore the town at night. This has been the best guided trip ever and it was in large part due to the fun and energy of Sonam and Nedup!Written 29 December 2024
- Sightseer154844117920 contributionsNo better tour agency to book your once-in-a-lifetime trip with! The trip with Bhutan Acorn Tours & Travel is amazing and we have absolutely 0 negative comments about it. They went to great lengths to ensure our itinerary was customised to our comfort, and our tour guide and driver, Tashi and Tshewang, gave us the best seven days we could've asked for in Bhutan—caring, attentive to details, and very knowledgeable. The attractions, services, meals, and accommodations are all worthy (or even above) of their value; and we liked everything included in the tour. Mr. Karma and his team are very responsive and ensured we are comfortable with the arrangements and everything throughout the process. We booked our trip during the lower season but still had one of the most amazing experiences ever!Written 23 December 2024
- Tourist3097200 contributionsA magical expereince.Having the local guides and knowledge was a blessing. They took care of us in every possible way, from the accommodations, food preferences, flexibility with the itinerary and when folks were not feeling well. Norbu was very knowledgeable about the sites, culture and personal experience. The tour operator was very responsive and flexible. Thank you for a magical, mystical and beautiful experience.Written 16 December 2024
- Kurt H0 contributionsAmazing week in BhutanThis was by far one of the best trips I have ever been on. Normally I prefer to explore places on my own, but doing this trip with a guide and driver felt perfect. From my first contact with Bhutan Acorn Tours until my flight out of Bhutan everything went very smoothly. Bhutan Acorn Tours takes care of everything for you: visa, flights,... They provide you an itinerary, but they are open to you making changes. For exemple: I wanted to see some takins, so they added a visit to the preserve on the first day. The rest of the trip was simply amazing. Friendly and fun guide and driver (almost felt like a road trip with friends), stunning temples and dzongs, breathtaking views, rewarding hikes, delicious food,... Bhutan just has so much to offer, and Bhutan Acorn Tours delivers it in the best way! I will definitely return to Bhutan one day to visit other areas and I will definitely reach out to Bhutan Acorn Tours then.Written 11 December 2024
- shannonwC3184FN0 contributionsHard to Describe how FantasticMy trip to Bhutan with Acorn Tours and Travel and guide Norbu Gyeltshen was an amazing experience. Setting up the itinerary was easy with Acorn Tours owner Karma, and all details were well attended to and even on the go changes handled effortlessly, that sometimes happen when trekking. Accommodations provided were solid and comfortable. Norbu is an amazing guide and thoughtful in every way. He is so knowledgeable about Buddhism, the cultural and religious base of Bhutan, and on our hikes knew every flower, tree, bird and animal. A wealth of knowledge and highly experienced for high adventure in Bhutan. I would visit again in a heartbeat! Fantastical, magical, mystical, amazingly kind people, and stunning natural beauty at every turn. Cannot say enough about the high level of service and commitment to our enjoyment by Bhutan Acorn Tours and Travel, Karma the owner, and most highly qualified guide in Bhutan, Norbu...and our excellent driver as well Dorgi.Written 4 December 2024

- G566ZCpiaj0 contributionsAmazing Experience! Highly Recommended.I had an incredible experience traveling through Bhutan with Bhutan Acorn Tours. Karma was exceptionally responsive, accommodating my requests to customize the itinerary, hotels, and meals before my arrival. Everything went smoothly and exactly as planned once I got there. The highlight of the tour was connecting with my guide, Kezang, and her sister, Tashi, who was also my driver. They were both so kind and dedicated, working hard to create a truly memorable experience. Their warmth and effort solidified my belief that Bhutan is a place I’ll return to again and again.Written 24 November 2024
- Pam L0 contributionsWorth the investment and worth the wait! This entire experience was unbelievable. I’d waited 16 years to make this happen and it surpassed my expectations in every way. The staff of Bhutan Acorn is the best! Our drivers, the Cook, camp support and our beloved guide, Lobzang, were genuinely kind, attentive, knowledgeable and took care of every detail. The tour was the perfect mix trek, culture and adventure. The scenery was as beautiful as the Bhutanese people, who made us feel like honored guests at the festival. 10/10 or 5/5 on this review. I spent 6 days with Acorn in Bhutan, and I highly recommend them. Everything was incredible: driver, guide, company responsiveness, flexibility, itinerary. We arrived at the Tiger's Nest before anyone else and had the place to ourselves. And restaurants and hotels were all great.

Dema and Kencho met me at Paro airport coming in from India and I was immediately put at ease with their friendliness and Kencho's careful driving through the mountainous roads in a very comfortable, warm and solid SUV car.
Unfortunately I became very ill the next day (something I had eaten in India)and everyone, Dema, Kencho, Karma, Lhendup and the hotel staff were so caring and attentive and offered to take me to hospital. Luckily I was a lot better after a good sleep and some hydration salts they gave me. I felt comforted that I was in good hands being on my own in a foreign country.
The rest of the trip was amazing and I didn't feel that I had missed anything seeing monastaries, dzongs, a museum, shopping, lunch at a farmhouse, attempting archery and the beautiful scenary. The weather was beautiful and sunny during the day and the hotel rooms were warm and comfy at night. They made sure I was going at a pace I was happy with not feeling 100%.
I feel that I made some beautiful friends in Bhutan and I would love to return for a festival and do the Tiger Nest hike.
I definitely would recommend Acorn Tours who genuinely go above and beyond from the visa and flight bookings to caring for you as a person.
Thank you Dema, Kencho, Karma and Lhendup.

Dear Lorraine,
Kuzu Zangpo la! Thank you for a gift of 5 Star rating. Dema and Kencho are thrilled to hear about your review. It was quite unfortunate that you weren't feeling so well on your very first night in Bhutan. It is our moral duty to take care of our guests right from the time they step out of the arrival hall up until they step into the departure hall. I am glad that you felt comfortable with Dema and Kencho. We look forward to your next visit.
Until then we wish you good luck from the Kingdom of Bhutan!

We are very fortunate to have chosen Bhutan Acorn as our tour guide. Me and my friend have a blast experience every day and since it’s just the two of us, they make our tour very flexible. Whenever we reached some place, they never rushed us so we have time to enjoy the place. Sonam was our tour guide, he’s like sunshine, always in high spirit and he always tried his best to give excellent service and make sure that we’re alright and happy. Jigme was our driver, he made the 2 and 3 hours ride so smooth even in the not so good condition of the road. Both of them were always ready whenever we needed them. Lhendup and Karma are the owner of the tour and even they came up to see us in person. They treat us like a family and gave us unforgettable experience of a life time. Everything is perfect from the beginning to the end. Thank you so much for such amazing service.
