This amazing tour went above and beyond what I could’ve hoped for in a great surprise for my husband on our 25th anniversary, combining his love of biking with our love of wine tasting. Bonus spending quality time with Gerardo and Ted (an incredible winemaker), and learning so much!

It was the highlight of the trip. To take a relaxing ride through Calistoga with a local wine maker was amazing. We spent almost 3 hours on the adventure while visiting a couple winery’s, tasting from barrels and visiting the actual vineyards. Finishing with a private tasting with the wine maker whom also led the tour and lots of Q&A from our group. It is a must.

I wanted to cycle in Napa and had no familiarity with the roads, no time to plan, and no knowledge of trustworthy local bike shops. Gerardo and the Vine Trail Adventures crew took care of all of that, and I had two incredible days of riding that I won't soon forget. My highest recommendations for this service!

Incredible! Gerardo was a brilliant host and guide. He communicated proactively, assisted me with my bike rental (from the Sports Basement in the Presidio) and worked around a last minute flight delay. We rode across the Golden Gate Bridge ascended Hawk Hill and traversed the Marin Headlands. The bespoke itinerary that he created took into consideration the fact that while I'm in decent condition, I am a relative novice when it comes to road cycling. Our ride was both challenging and beautiful. I look forward to returning to the Bay Area and riding in Napa and Sonoma with Vine Trail Adventures one day.

Ted was an amazing guide for our Ride with a Winemaker. He is so knowledgeable about Wine but also knows how to pick a great route, stop at the right times, inform the group of what's up next and make sure we were on a safe route. We had a great stop at Gotts and some amazing wine that all felt way better going down, paired with the ride.

My wife and I both enjoy wine tasting and biking. So what better way to explore the the wine country but on a guided bike tour by a local winemaker! The tour far exceeded our expectations! Our guide, Ted, was wonderful. He tailored the the tour to our abilities and our interest. We took about a 25 mile ride that started in Calistoga and descended into the Valley. We biked along the Silverado Trail and then across into more hilly terrain over Howell Mountain along Old Howell Mountain Road and back to Calistoga along the Silverado Trail. Along the way we experienced beautiful views of the mountains and sweeping views of the valley. We passed vineyards and wineries large and small. Ted who has been a winemaker in Napa for many years shared with us his personal history of winemaking in this region. Towards the end of the trip we stopped at a small winery for a tour and explanation of the process of wine making. We barrel tasted several varietals followed by a tasting of some of the same wines after bottling gaining a unique perspective of the evolution of the wine during vinification and aging. After our tour, Ted generously shared some other routes we could explore on our own for the remainder of our stay in Napa. Ted did emphasize that he tailors his tour length and difficulty to the desires of his clients. I enthusiastically recommend Ted and Vine Trail Adventures for a unique way to explore the wine country.

We had a spectacular day touring the Alexander Valley with Vine Trail Adventures. Gerardo mapped out an ideal ride that combined a thigh-burning climb and stunning valley views with fun rollers along the vineyards. Lunch at Diavola was delicious and perfectly timed after our big climb. Can’t wait for our next ride with Vine Trail!

Gerardo led us on a tour of the wine country backroads on a beautiful summer day. He knows all the quiet roads & best routes to get the very best from the experience but most of all, he is fun to be with and readily shares his passion for cycling and wine. We will repeat the experience (often)!

Gerardo took us on a great morning tour from Calistoga to Healdsburg ending with fun lunch. The route was moderately challenging but it still gave a great workout. It was also nice not to be on well travelled roads by using the Vine Trail

Gerardo took me on an amazing, and challenging, mountain bike ride above the Calistoga valley and then back to town to a cool local spot for drinks. Biking is always best when you're being guided by someone who knows what to do and where to go. Gerardo is a very interesting and charming fellow. Highly recommended for your next adventure!
