Couldn’t have had a better guide than Basil for getting oriented and introduced to Petra. Bassil makes sure to take into account not only his customers interests but also what works best for them and offers excellent choices. I hadn’t been in Wadi Musa for more than 12 hrs before the tour and was still battling the 8 hr time difference. Bassil suggested an alternative for the route I had chosen and I still got in my hike while not starting the day going uphill. I had a wonderful day, and lots of beautiful moments captured by Bassil to remember by.

One the most memorable experiences, I would recommend the backdoor hike with Bassil. He informative and we went off the beaten track and saw so many more sights than just the treasury and monastery. I would definitely recommend

We did the back door hike into Petra in late December w a travel weary 11yo. Bassil was very patient w our hiking pace, and a fountain of knowledge regarding anything we wanted to know (or didn’t know to ask). I’m not sure there is a question he wouldn’t or couldn’t answer about Jordan or Petra — past or present. I especially appreciated that he explained some of the current issues in Petra that I’m guessing most guides would have avoided with unsuspecting tourists. I really appreciated that because I feel like it gave a more full version of both the site’s history and the present day lives of its inhabitants. All in all, an excellent tour and guide. Thank you!

When we finished an amazing tour of Petra with our guide Bassil, we asked for a dinner recommendation. He noted a few spots in the city center but then asked if we might enjoy dinner prepared for us by a local family in Petra. Absolutely! This is the type of experience you hope for, but cannot find easily. The hospitality of the family was incredibly generous, and the food was delicious. They prepared chicken maqluba. This meal is uniquely Jordanian; once the dish is ready, the pot is flipped over onto a big plate or communal tray, so the rice stays on the bottom, and the meat or chicken is left on the top. It was absolutely delicious. Additionally, the family made homemade kanafeh served with tea and coffee. The conversation and hospitality was charming and warm. I would recommend this experience for anyone looking for an alternative to the restaurant scene, where you not only support a real family in Petra, but also enjoy a traditional Jordanian meal in the home. Enjoy!!

Bassil was obviously the right choice — I think he knows everyone in Petra and greater Wadi Musa! This makes for a great experience beyond the hike through the back door as you meet many other local people and learn the history of the Nabataean city. This hike is absolutely recommended, as it is a nicer way to walk through all of Petra back to the visitor center without having to circle back after a long day. You can enjoy more sites along the way, keep an easy relaxed pace, and stop for lunch or tea as you wish. Bassil was a fountain of knowledge but also fun and generous with his time. We learned so much about Petra and he gave us priceless recommendations. We cannot recommend him more….enjoy!

We unfortunately made a mistake with our dates and booked it for a day too early. After receiving a text the day before to check we where ok to be collected at 8am in the morning, we realised the mistake and advised our guide who was super kind to refund us all of the money we had paid and help us find a new guide for the next day. Really kind and very helpful.

I found the people of Petra, and actually throughout Jordan, to be friendly, kind and most hospitable. Add to that a knowledge, fluent and accommodating guide and you get an outstanding experience. I have travel to every continent, travel almost 6 million miles visiting 70 countries, and the experience with my guide in Petra ranks at the top.

The best tour guide we had so far!! And we traveled a lot trust me in this! he goes out he's way to help you and accommodate you-took incredible photos of us, spent extra time with us and plus arranged horse riding above mountain. We had a wonderful time in Petra, and we wouldn't if he was not with us - worth every thing don't even think twice to hire him he is the best and very knowledgeable in the area

Petra is a must-see world heritage site, period. Bassil was the perfect guide with deep knowledge of area and its history. I highly recommend Petra and Bassil.
