- S6215JOjoshuar00Ol Doinyo Lengai hikeI went with Kilisa on a two night trip from Arusha and climbed Ol Doinyo Lengai. It was a wonderful experience! The guides were thoughtful and helpful, and explained everything very well. Everything was as advertised, and we were always on schedule. I would happily do another trip with them in the future.
- 11bernyc00Highly recommend Kilisa Tours for Kilimanjaro trekMy friend and I just finished a 7-day Lemosho route trek with Kilisa Tours that ended in the successful summit of Kilimanjaro. I cannot praise our team from Kilisa enough and highly recommend them for any Kilimanjaro trek. From our pre-trek communications to our airport transfers and throughout our time on the trek, we were treated and cared for exceptionally well. Kilisa seemed to us to be a smaller tour operator. While this meant they didn’t have a fancy bus to drive us around, it also meant we didn’t get a “big tour” experience and received more attention and heart than expected, truly living out their mantra “One Team, One Dream.” It starts with our guides, Goodluck and Nickson. As the primary leaders of the expedition and the ones most directly responsible for our wellbeing, they were both exceptionally professional throughout. They were both concerned about our experience, maintaining an open dialog about daily expectations and about any questions that came up. On the health front, they measured our blood oxygen levels and pulse nightly, and we openly discussed our feelings and concerns to ensure we were all on the same page. Importantly, I felt they did a great job picking the right hiking paths and maintaining the right hiking pace for us. We felt this was critical to successful acclimatization, minimizing exhaustion, and ultimately to our successful summit. Lastly, they really encouraged us to enjoy the journey and not just the destination. They were very knowledgeable about the geology, ecology, and history of Kilimanjaro and they freely shared their knowledge. Having the right guides is essential and I feel like we got the best in Goodluck and Nickson. But our positive experience didn’t end with our guides. Incredibly we had 9 additional people (11 in total) supporting my friend and me on our adventure. And they were all wonderfully caring, too (“One Team, One Dream”). Our chef made wonderful, filling meals for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, we had a waiter/water attendant, we had a person who attended our private toilet, and six additional porters who were incredibly hard working setting up, breaking down, and transporting our camp from site to site. To a man, they were exceptionally supportive, friendly, and fun-loving, and it was truly heartwarming to be surrounded by a wonderful group of people who all wanted to see us succeed. A great example: After we summited, my friend and I were struggling to come down the mountain due to exhaustion. Our guides messaged the base team, and six additional members met us 1/3 or 1/2 way up the mountain, carried our packs, and arm-in-arm helped us get back to base camp where they all congratulated us with hugs and high-fives. The Kilimanjaro trip was the fulfillment of a decades long dream, and the exceptional experience with Kilisa Tours made it wonderful. I highly recommend them.
- troelskingo008 day Lemosho route Kilimanjaro trekI went on the 8 day Lemosho trek to Kilimanjaro with Kilisa Tours. The whole crew with guide, cook and porters was amazing and ensured that it was an incredible trek to the top. The whole proces of planning and booking the tour, information, pick-up at the airport and the trek itself was very professional. The company was extremely service-minded and easy to get in contact with. When I was unlucky to have unforeseen problems with a cancelled flight they were very flexible and was able to reschedule my trip with short notice. All in all booking and going with Kilisa Tours was an impeccable experience. The service and people were amazing and I give them my best recommendations.
- Kennedy M00Kili-Marangu Colobus TravelI heartily recommend Kili-marangu colobus tour to travel with you around Tanzania national parks, Tanzania waterfalls and climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro. 20 years experience in travelling.
- TRAIG7900This trip won’t be the same without Kilisa teamI had the best trip I can hope for, the team their sprint, support and continuous encouragement was a key for all our success in reaching the summit. Without them this won’t be even possible.
- Green_CV007 day Lemosho Route and Safari in TarangireI had a great adventure of a lifetime. The 7 day’s hike via Lemosho route was a success all credits to our lead guide the legendary Goodluck, Abraham and Oscar. They made the hike easy and fun through the games we played as we ascended each terrain. The guides are really patient, understanding and very helpful especially tackling the challenging route. Anyway, Every time we arrived in the camp ground, the tent are set up, the basin with water is ready to clean ourselves up and that’s because of the porters. They made sure that we had a pleasant and relaxing night so to be ready for the next days adventure. The food is plenty and is really good to fill our hungry tummy. Ahsante Sana Kilisa, you made sure that our journey is safe and memorable. During summit night, I was panicking and had stomach upset but Goodluck, Abraham and Oscar and the rest of my team keeps me calm and pushed me to keep going. After the hike, the team went safari in Tarangire and is still under Kilisa Tours and Safaris. Our guide Chris is really awesome and very knowledgeable about the animals inside the park. There is no dull moment as we explore the park. All good things must come to an end, Kilisa Tours and Safaris are always there from our arrival until our departure they never left us. Ahsante Sana, Naick and the Kilisa Tour and Safaris staff. You made our journey unforgettable. Highly recommended.
- Lea B00A Kilimanjaro dream come true!A huge “Thank You” to the amazing Kilisa team who took good care of all our needs to have a successful trek to Mt. Kilimanjaro. The whole team of porters, the chef and our guides, GoodLuck, Abraham & Oscar carried us through our journey with their positive energy, & continuous encouragement. Much love & appreciation to all of them!
- candacewaytan00The Best Adventure Ever!Every part of the journey was my favorite. One of them was the games that we play as we hike. It helped us forget that we are hiking. It was fun. We liked the meals served every single day. They served plenty of food which we can't consume. The positive vibes, the care, the endless patience, the spirit of camaraderie, the swahili words that we learned, the love, and many more. Asante sana, Kilisa. You made this dream possible. Hats off to our three incredible guides headed by the legend, Goodluck, Abraham, and Oscar. You all are brilliant strategist. Thank you for a very succesful summit night. No one was left behind. Thank you to all the porters. You are the backbone of this successful journey. Without you, this may not be possible. Asante sana to the entire staff of Kilisa Tours and Safaris headed by Naick Msemo. From the booking to our departure and everything in between, you never let us down. You took good care of all our needs, made adjustments, answered ll our questions, made everyone feel safe and comfortable. I can go on and on and on....Thank you. More power to this incredible company! This company, KILISA TOURS AND SAFARIS is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
- petrafly00Life changing experienceI was solo female traveller, first time in Africa and I choose Kilisa for 3 different adventures and I have no regrets. From the start, Naick answered all my questions quickly so I was able to book the trip I wanted. Everything went well and i felt really looked after through my entire trip. I did 3 day MT MERU with guide Tammy. If you do anything with Kilisa, I can not recommend enough for you to specifically request Tammy!!! He really tries to understand what you need and make sure you not only summit, but you are enjoying yourself and are happy. Warning: you will likely gain new brother :) He preaches the same to his crew and we all had really a lot of fun. The whole crew really did several small touches that made my trip special and successful and also for this reason Mt Meru tour was my favourite experience in my whole 3 week stay in Tanzania. I also did 7 day LEMOSHO ROUTE. Unfortunately Kilisa decided to change my guide without informing me as initially Tammy was supposed to be my guide for Kilimanjaro also. This was the only dislike towards Kilisa, but it was a strong one. While I enjoyed my time with the new crew, I would have much different and better experience with Tammy and his crew. Again I highly recommend you specifically request Tammy for your Kilimanjaro climb. Apart from this, of course I still enjoyed my climb. My guide was Goodluck. He is very knowledgable in terms of plants and know also the scientific names, so if you are botanist, you would enjoy Goodluck as your guide. He is kind, calm and friendly. His crew was really nice and made sure my summit was success. I was experiencing some nausea/stomach cramps and they did outmost to make me feel better. I was really not feeling well during my summit push and Goodluck was encouraging me along the way and I did manage to make it to the top. I really urge you to allocate decent budget for the tips for the crew. They work really hard and as you will see the terrain is not easy for carrying heavy/bulky packs and the tips makes huge difference in their life. You would not make it to the top without them. I also regret I have not gotten more gear from me and my friends to donate to the porters. I also did tour to CHEMKA HOT SPRINGS with Kilisa. My guide was Nixon, we had a lot of fun on the way and I learned some new Swahili words. At the springs he took a lot of pictures for me and came to check up on me few times to make sure I'm ok and that I dont need anything. Lunch was included and was really nice. The tour is nice because you get to spend really a whole day at the springs. Majority people came there for hour or two and left and I got to spend really a long time. This was nice specially in the afternoon as it got really quiet and at some points there was nobody else in the water. I also want to give shoutout to Kilisa's driver Ellias. He is bit shy, but he was my driver few times since I did several tours and he has been really kind and funny.
- M754JSminam00Safari with KilisaWhat an amazing 7 days expedition we had with Kilisa!!!!!! Enjoyed every minute of it. The hike to Mandara hut was outstanding. Guidance of Bakari and Nixon helped us get to the top even though we started hiking a bit late. All along they were patient and kept pouring out all the knowledge they had and encouraged us to ask questions as well as climb “pole pole “( slowly, slowly). On the Safari, Beatus kept us entertained. His eyes in locating the animals as well as his skill of taking pics thru binoculars was amazing. The accommodations for four nights during the safari was GREAT. It was like an Oasis in desert!!!!!! The meals were well thought of. Naick, the big boss is perfect in his own place…… what fun memory we made on the very first day 🙈 we met in person. He was prompt in replying any of the queries we had before we reached Tanzania. He made us comfortable in leaving our extra luggage at his office when we went on safari. Last but not least the pick up and drop off by Juliana was awesome. She made us feel at home by talking all about Shahrukh Khan and playing Bollywood music. Thank you Kilisa for helping us make great memories and put a smile on our faces every time we would look at the pics. ❤️
- Traveltheworld24400Amazing Serengeti & Ngorongoro SafariWe had the most amazing Safari with Kilisa! Everything was so well organized from start to finish and we had an absolutely great experience in the Serengeti National Park and Ngorongoro Crater. Especially wonderful was our safari guide Said who really went out of his way to make this the best possible experience for us and was so knowledgeable about all kind of animals and definitely taught us a lot. We basically saw all animals and also up very close which was amazing. Can recommend this to anyone!
- tatsiana00Reliable, safe, professional KilisaIf I wanted to hike Kili again, I would certainly do it through Kilisa…. again! From the first first email to the last day in Moshi I felt like I had a family to support me. I planned the hike on my own but of course I had the whole support team: Naick, Juliana, guide Bariki, cook Yahaya, and the porters: Israel, Jackson, Elfadhali, Baltazari, Ramadhamani. They were all amazing. Naick was always available through email before the trip, sending recommendations and making sure I was prepared for the trip. There was a car waiting for me at the airport and the hotel booked before and after the hike (great hotels too). I had all my equipment except for sleeping bad and a liner, which I rented from the company. I actually arrived the day earlier so Naick was available at all times with suggestions on what I could possibly do before the hike. I felt safe and prepared at all times. Bariki was great throughout the day making sure I was feeling good and adjusting the speed if needed. He pointed out various plants along the way, and had all the answers to questions I possibly had. He would have a briefing every evening on what to expect the next day and how to prepare. The food was amazing and abundant. I actually didn’t use any of my snacks since there was so much food. Cook Yahaya was absolutely wonderful making different food every day and it was DELICIOUS! All the porters are truly hard working, respectful, helpful and just wonderful! You can never thank them enough for what they are doing. At the end of the trip, again, Naick and Juliana were there to help me figure out what to do with the rest of my days in Tanzania, whether it was an advice on hotel or restaurant or some fun things to do. Again, I am very happy I went with this company and recommend everyone for their future hike. If you have questions or need more ideas or input, send me a message. Would be happy to reply. Thanks Kilisa!!!
- Imranzaman00Kilisa - no one comes close to them , great teamOutstanding experience with a great team that was Personal , Friendly , Professional and qualified to make my dream come true . Helped me To feel safe and comfortable at all times and Tammy the guide was so sincere that I can say I have a new brother for life . Thanks Kilisa for your great work you doing . Happy to recommend you to others and be available for any feedback .
- 988lillyp00Incredible Kilimanjaro experience with an amazing teamIf you’re like us and can’t decide which tour operator to go with for Kilimanjaro then look no further - these are the guys that you need to book with!!! We had such a wonderful experience that I wanted to write a review of our time and give this team the credit that they deserve. During the planning stages Naick was extremely quick to respond to all of our emails and made sure all of our questions were answered. We opted for the 7 day Machame route which gives enough time for acclimatisation, as well as a great variety of views over the week. Unfortunately when we landed in Kilimanjaro, we realised that my luggage had not arrived. One of the Kilisa team were waiting at the airport to pick us up and so came through to take care of the administration for us - removing all the stress from us! :) We had planned on starting our hike the next day, but with no luggage we thought this would be impossible - but in true Kilisa style, they had everything covered and were able to give me all the equipment I needed to start the hike on time. A note that the quality of the equipment they hired was good and I’d recommend if you’re limited on space, or forget something then they will have it for you to rent at really reasonable prices. The hike itself was incredible - We had two tour guides, Good Luck and Oscar who were AWESOME - they really knew their stuff about the mountain, pointing out different wildlife and plants along the way. They made us feel completely safe at all times, adapting the pace to our needs and keeping us entertained with songs and stories on the ascents. The food and drinks provided were always delicious, and there was lots of it! You won’t go hungry :D And we can’t forget the porters who are the true superhero’s of Tanzania - it wouldn’t have been possible without them. Whilst I was hiking, Kilisa had been liaising with the airline and were able to have my bag delivered to the mountain which made me so happy to have all my personal belongings again. We would 100% recommend Kilisa tours for anyone planning a trip to Tanzania, they were professional, responsive, reputable and went above and beyond to make sure we had the trip of a lifetime. Asante Sana!
- Ryan S00UnforgettableKilisa Tours and our guides, FC and Matthew, as well as our porters, far exceeded any expectations I could have had for our climb. Before we even set foot in Tanzania, they were welcoming, informative, and helpful. Day 1 we were greeted by our driver Nixon and our guides, who walked us through the climb and checked our gear to ensure we had everything we needed. The items we didn’t have, we were able to rent for a very reasonable price. The Lemosho route was an incredible experience, with beautiful, sometimes alien landscapes, but was truly made unforgettable by our knowledgeable and encouraging guides, the porters, our cook Tom, and our waiter Musa. The food prepared on the mountain was probably the most unexpected, as it was different and delicious each day and was truly appreciated. Every aspect of the trip was well planned and executed by Kilisa. Thank you again for everything.

This was the best experience I have ever had in Africa. The Safari was amazing. Our guide "Chris" was knowledgeable, personable, and was able to get us to all the animals on the safari. When you take this safari ask for Chris. You will be amazed by him.

Amazing bucket list vacation with an amazing company. We went on an 6 day safari with guide Chris. Saw every animal, stayed in great accommodations, ate wonderful food and had the time of our lives. Could not recommend Kilisa's safari more.
Following our safari, we embarked upon a Kilimanjaro trek along the 7 day Lemosho route with guides Rama and Bacari and crew. Everyone was so FRIENDLY and catered to our every need (lots of needs at 15k+ feet). We successfully summited and don't think we would have without the Kilisa team looking after us.
Unforgettable trip that really lifted our spirits after no traveling due to global pandemic. Everyone in Tanzania is kind, warm and welcoming. The team at Kilisa is no exception. Please consider Kilisa and guides Chris, Rama and Bacari on your safari and trek!

I was in Tanzania for almost a month and went through Kilisa to arrange my activities on the mainland. This was a last-minute trip, and I contacted several tour companies with basic questions. Naick at Kilisa was the most responsive addressing my questions in a prompt manner. Kilisa's rates are competitive and they use quality equipment. I spent several days based in Moshi during this time. Nickson picked me up from the airport, and was my guide for day trip to the Materuni Waterfalls. He was very knowledgeable about the plant life, and the area. He's very accommodating.
When I had a needed to buy a shaver and had a question about a flight to Zanzibar, he took me to a mall, and also to the airline's office in town. I also booked a 5-day safari with Kilisa. Chris was my guide and was great in finding animals and catered the trip to animals and attractions that I was interested. He answered all my questions about animals, history, & Tanzanian culture. It was just Chris & I for the safari, which involves a lot of driving, so glad that we got along well. The time went by really fast. Chris also made sure everything went smoothly with the hot air balloon ride company (add-on activity to the safari). The Land Cruisers they use are well-maintained, and very capable of handling rough terrain. The canopy lifts up giving you a panoramic view of the wildlife. The vehicle is equipped with USB chargers and Chris had a pair of binoculars. No AC, but you don't really need it as you are constantly opening the windows for photos anyways. The lodge selection for the safari was very good. I stayed at Marera Valley Lodge & Embalakai Authentic Camp. (also stayed at The Panama Garden & Parkview Inn in Moshi). Lunch on the safari was prepared by the lodges and fancier than I was expecting. We'd find a picnic table each day, lay out a tablecloth and enjoy rice/pasta with an entrée. Kilisa provides water, coffee & tea for the trip. Kilisa has a safari packing list and FAQ on their website. For camera gear, a telephoto lens (more than 300mm) gives the most flexibility for capturing wildlife, but I used my phone quite a bit as well. I wish I had brought a tripod or bean bag to rest the camera on. I was expecting the top of the vehicle to be flat when canopy is raised, but it's actually slightly curved. It also gets dusty inside the vehicle so bring something to wipe your lenses with. If you have luggage that you don't need for the safari, you can leave it at the hotel in Moshi.
I also booked a Kilimanjaro Trek though Kilisa with the intention of joining a group going the week I wanted to go, but one person got sick the day before, so they cancelled. Naick gave me the option of doing the trek on my own (supported by a full team), or joining a trek with another company (there weren't many tourists in Tanzania when I went due to COVID & climbing season just started). I went with the 2nd option and was glad Naick was able to find another high-quality company for me to complete the trek with.
In summary, Kilisa offers good value for the tours they offer (competitive rates, high-quality experience). Being able to make all your arrangements through one company simplifies trip planning. I really enjoyed my time in Tanzania and much of that can be attributed to working with Kilisa. I would recommend them to others.

When we graduated my Beasties and I spent a considerable amount of time reviewing different companies, we found a lot of companies with great’s reviews as we went through trip advisor and other sources to look for the best tour agency who will organize perfect trip for us but then we finally decided to go for Kilisa Tours & Safaris. It was funny but really this was the right choice we made.
The planning stage went very well with Naick “the owner of the company” being very responsive to all questions and clear emails on time and professionally. Then, we decided to go with 8 days Lemosho route & 5 days Safari
Everything was great when we landed as they took care of everything and we didn't have to worry about transportation, Accommodations and Meals once in Tanzania
And during the hike we were set up by amazing guides, porters and cook. team work of Mountain crews helped us success summit Kilimanjaro
After a long climb we went to Safari 5 days at Tarangire, Serengeti and Ngoro Ngoro. Every experience was just incredible
I must admit that this was great adventure for our life and all credit goes to Kilisa Team for Making all that possible
I can't say well enough about this but If you're looking forward for Mt. Kilimanjaro Climbing or Go on a Safari, I and on behalf of my friends I highly recommend Kilisa Tours & Safari to everyone and we're definitely coming back at some point.
