About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- dawnk3240 contributionsBeautiful sights! My husbands family is from this area. Sometimes you take for granted the places you visit frequently. This was an informative way to see some of the same sights we have already seen while visiting. I want to take our children on it with us next time.Written 27 December 2024
- Go3037850 contributionsToo long with detours. Good stories but too little time in the park and too much on the highway. The one detour to get to a lookout was supposed to be a short walk. The gate to the drive was locked so it was quite a walk to get there. The Thurmond detour should be taken out. Once we got there and saw the narrow, dead end, very steep road to get there, we turned around. After 4 hours of driving, with no indication of when it was over, we turned it off and went to eat. The stories were interesting and the stops in the park were nice but too much time was spent on the highway.Written 16 November 2024
- ndbtdr0 contributionsFun and EducationalWe wanted to know what we were seeing while driving around the area and this did exactly that. It was very educational, and in a fun way, with some interesting topics (e.g., historical figures and bugs). I liked that the audio was up-to-date and didn't whitewash the history of the mines and workers' difficulties. We linked the audio to our car screen, so we saw photos of what the audio was instructing us about, too. It took a few stops to learn how the GPS moved the audio forward, and then it was very easy. We appreciated that we could do the tour on our own time, stopping or moving on as we wanted.Written 4 November 2024
- Maps7618290 contributionsAbsolutely amazing!!! ! Highly recommended so much fun!!!This was the coolest add on to my trip. So helpful and had cool historic facts from the area we traveled!!! New Gorge River.. I've never heard about this before and it was well worth the money .. it narrated the trip step by step and was more precise then the Google Map. I would definitely recommend and definitely buy again..Written 1 November 2024
- ticoalra0 contributionsScenic tourThis was a beautiful drive and really showed you what it was like to cross the river before the bridge. Plenty of places to stop and get out.Written 27 October 2024
- Explore061518427650 contributionsThe tour was just fine, with an amazing narrator! The guided tour was great. Took a few minutes to figure out the app. The learn more part could be a little more, quickly, accessible. It should have a button of its own. The tour, however, was fantastic. Lots of stories and stuff. The must points actually helped a lot for my kids' photo sessions. They enjoyed a lot more than we did, honestly. Definitely would try this again for another tour.Written 21 October 2024
- Stay232859155380 contributionsExcellent tour.Easy to use and informative. Every part of the park was scenic, specially the lookouts gave beautiful views of the New River. Highly recommended!Written 8 October 2024

This review is our second for this company. We found their other tour so useful we purchased this one. Very easy to install and download. Both tour guides from this company are installed perfectly into the same app. Works without GPS for pertour planning. One cool feature we really liked is that you can read and listen to the commentary.

Could've been much better, but we only got to hit two of the planned three stops. The guide could've done a much better job of time management to get people back on the bus to make sure we had time. We also waited quite a while for a couple that was late for the tour and never ended up making it. Had we not waited, we may have still made the last planned stop.

I apologize for the inconvenience you experienced during the Grand Canyon Tour. I am mentioning the shuttle information in the tour app and listings. I also have 100 other self-guided tours for other parks, scenic drives, cities, and historic sites in the US — hopefully, you’ll get the chance to try them next time! Also, to remind you, the tour you bought is yours for a lifetime. So, you can listen to it at home or on your next visit.

I followed the instructions, watched the instructional video, and downloaded all the tours the day before so we could be ready. Although the explanation of the process stated that you could enter any tour at any time, you can if you view the correct tour, which we were, but info was given about walking and catching a shuttle bus, which was not done, so we followed "our way" to disastrous results.
Because we had issues with the first tour and not knowing how to get to the "right" section, we skipped it and began the 2nd tour. I was not understanding the map usage, and our car was not in sync with the audio or the map. We wasted about 30 minutes trying to fix this issue and ended up driving outside the park by the east entrance because we were driving in the opposite direction. After figuring out where we should be, we started the 2nd tour in the right place.
The instructional video needs to be more clear with better visuals on what to do.
Once you know how the tour program works, the video is spot on, and audio comes on at the right location. All in all, we enjoyed what we viewed, and received great information. It is a good option and learning experience, and gives your fantastic views.

Grand Canyon South & East Rim Self-Driving, Walking & Shuttling Tour
Tusayan
Disappointing App
App tells you where to begin. I assumed that at the start point there would be someone who could answer questions such as "is there food available along the route?" Same for restrooms. Tour is 3 hours - is that one way or round trip time?
Starting point was a 3-way intersection with no one around.
Map shows a red route and a blue route. No indication of which route you are to be on. Map does not show the location of your car. There is no way to determine where you are. When you select "recenter map" it centers on some place without any roads shown
It's a complete waste of time.
We gave up and headed east (opposite direction) and 10 miles completely off route the app kept talking as if we were following one of the western routes.
Unless you have psychic powers I'd forget this as an option to see the grand canyon.

I'm sorry to hear you had trouble with the tour. I provided detailed instructions on setting up the app and tour beforehand, along with a tutorial video. Launching the app should guide you smoothly once you reach the starting point. No one will be at the meeting point, as it's a self-guided tour, but my support team is always available to help. The tour is valid for a year, so you've got plenty of time to complete it. If you have any further questions, feel free to contact me!

Luke was a great guide. His enthusiasm and knowledge made the trip enjoyable and educational. We had walked along the grand canyon on our own for a couple of hours earlier in the day and taking this tour helped us to see it in a while different way . God is truly amazing and with each stop we were reminded of just how amazing He is. Thank you Luke for the great tour!

I I think you guys did a great job showing and telling me about the grand canyon. I don't think I missed anything on the south rim. The East Rim I didn't get to until later in the afternoon. The guides comments at each point we're very good.

The self guided tour worked really well, better than I expected. Easy to find the starting point and skipped a couple spots since we were short on time. Interesting and informative at each stop.

Scenery is spectacular. Not as crowded as I expected. Less wildlife than I anticipated. Did run into one storm, but we should have paid closer attention to the weather forecast.

Aside from the price of the guided tour, what other expenses/entrance fees can I expect?
Written 8 July 2022
The park has its own fees. Visit the National Park Service website for the most up-to-date info.

Is it necessary for us to bring our own car, or will one be provided on-site?
Written 5 April 2022
This is a self-guided tour and you must bring your own car. Part of the tour also includes use of the park’s shuttle system (the tour will explain when & how).
Written 6 April 2022
Does this work from both entrances to the South Rim?
Written 5 April 2022
The Grand Canyon’s South Rim has two entrances — the South Entrance and the East Entrance. The tour currently works best for the South Entrance. We are working on the East Entrance version and it should be available soon!

Will this entire trip work for a private car with 6 adults? If so, does each person need to purchase a ticket?

During the summer, Hermit Road is not accessible by private car. The tour will direct you to park at stop 15 and walk from points 16-22 before boarding the shuttle for stops 23-31. The stations following 31 on the park's eastern side may now be reached by private car.
Because you must board the shuttle after Stop #22, you may need to pay for the tour for each individual.

Is vehicle rental required, or can I drive my own vehicle?
Written 20 September 2021
Actually, it’s the opposite — we don’t do rental cars. This is just the self-guided audio tour. You experience it in your own vehicle!
