Every visitor to North Goa has driving past the white church of Saligoa. This tour takes you into the stories of the village that is home to it.
Ameez did an awesome job of immersing up in the stories and the surprise home visit at the end really leaves you steeped in the experience for long after you're back home.

The Saligao tour was a wonderful experience with an equally wonderful tour guide Ameez who unraveled such fascinating facts about the village which despite my Goan origins I was unaware of.The Mae De Deus church was so beautiful and the walk into the village wards through the trails flanked by beautiful fields was mind blowing. But the highlight of the tour was the visit to Mr. Vaz's house that showcases Portuguese style architecture and interiors. Saligao is definitely an unexplored treasure!

Had an amazing amazing experience with Make it happen folks at goa. I was there for 1 week and 'make it happen' made my trip all the more memorable.
Their story tellers are filled with energy and are super helpful, most of them are history majors or are studying history.
Murli and his team of story tellers are little bundles of energy and joy!
I went for their saligaon, divar island, old goa and fontainhas tours. Would love to go for more next time when I am around.
Amreen Shaikh was my storyteller for the Saligaon tour, she helped me see goa for a completely different perspective, never realised goan history could be this intresting.
These guys have strived very hard to help people know that goa is more then just beaches, party and alcohol.
Highly recommended!

This was our third event with Make It Happen during our short trip to Goa. We really loved the slow pace of the walk - it truly was a delightful saunter.
Our storyteller Amreen really kept us engaged with so many interesting anecdotes and stories about Saligaon. We really appreciated the level of research and effort that went into making this tour - it was so unique and gave us a great sense of the "sussegad" pace of life in Goan villages. We also enjoyed getting to learn about Amreen's experiences as a historian - the personal touch was really appreciated!
What made this tour even more special was that one of the people in our group had great grandparents who grew up in Saligaon!!
We would highly recommend Make It Happen to any people visiting Goa that want to truly get a sense of this beautifully diverse state!

We loved the walk, starting with our story teller : Amreen, who beautifully captured the soul of Saligaon for us. We must have crossed the church, those beautiful heritage homes and the streets quite a few times, but never paused to know the stories behind them. It isn’t physically demanding as well, just in case that’s a worry.
Must thank Murali who helped us with the bookings. Overall, would recommend the walk to everyone.

The Saligoa Village saunter takes you into a little known side of Goa. All the stops on the walk were unique and totally offbeat. Abhijeet(the story teller) who hails from the village, had so much to share about it's history and cultural roots. The highlight of the walk was the high tea and biscuits in the very house of people, who played an important role in shaping the village. The fact that the house is now being converted into a museum and such an experience will not be possible anymore, made it all the more special.

A wonderful walking tour that brought to life an otherwise quaint little village in North Goa. There was so much I got to learn about Goa's history and culture and the village itself was beautiful. I particularly enjoyed the local music they played for us midway through the tour.

Make it happen is the go to place for tours in Goa! We had storyteller (Guide) Amreen show us around the church and Saligao village. She was incredibly informative and interesting! Amreen is a historian and nature enthusiast, so was able to explain the history
of the area very well while keeping the tour fun and engaging.
Seeing the De Souza house along with its history was so cool and the tea/coffee was really good!
If you are visiting Goa, Make it Happen tour is a must!
I can't recommend this tour enough!
( We even booked another make it happen tour for the next day because we loved it so much!)

It’s great to see such walking tours in India, especially one that tries to bring out lesser known parts and history of Goa!
This was our third tour with MakeItHappen, having done Old Goa and Divar island previously. We were hosted on this tour by Vaishnavi, a wonderful storyteller, who is also quite knowledgeable about Saligao. Thoroughly enjoyed the tour interspersed with interesting personal anecdotes from her days of growing up in and around the area(thanks for sharing those with us, Vaishnavi!). The tour ended with a high tea at a historic villa - its current owners are so gracious opening it to tourists, letting us soak in the rich history of the place! Kudos to MakeItHappen for putting this together and looking forward to participate in their other tours too!

This walk started in the courtyard of a beautiful Goanese church, with Neo Gothic architecture. Mae de Deus. The storyteller was a fascinating and vibrant young historian Amreen, who incidentally happened to be on her Ramzan fast, and on a very sultry afternoon at that.
The story started with a tale from the Skanda Purana about Lord Parshuram reclaiming the land from the sea.
Story moves on to history where the original settlers of Goa happened to be 96 Gaud Bramhin families from Bengal. And that Konkani language and food habits have actually evolved from Bengali! As we tramped through the beautiful village, we see influences of the Portuguese, in art and architecture. We are hosted for tea at a quaint Portuguese villa by an elderly gentleman and his extremely photogenic cat. We got to know about the feni trade, the Cantonese artifacts, the emigration waves to East Africa and Karachi.
The walk left me with the most surreal feeling that this is the India we live in, a melting pot of so so so many cultures, religions and influences, and so much beauty. I know I sound clichéd, but this walk was a thorough cleanse from the hatred and otherness that we experience in our daily lives now.
