About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- M9740RFerikaa0 contributionsBreathtaking experienceBest excursion I've done in Ushuaia and one of the best hikes I've ever done overall, it doesn't happen every day to walk up a glacier in Tierra del Fuego. Our group was of three people (including the guide) which made it even more special. The guide was lovely and very friendly. The hike is steep but the views at the top are all worthy it. I 110% recommend it, just remember to wear waterproof hiking boots for the snow and mud.Written 17 November 2024
- prutchi0 contributionsSomewhat challenging hike, but the view from the end of the trail is worth the effortPick up was very smooth. Upon arrival to the Fin del Mundo Park, our guide Sonia gave us hiking poles, crampons and our lunch. The hike up to “Mirador de Los Cóndores” was somewhat challenging because of the steep slope, but Sonia made sure that we did it at a comfortable pace. We were rewarded by a magnificent view from the top. Highly recommended.Written 13 November 2024

Regarding the trekking, the climbs are challenging, but the landscapes are stunning. It was one of the most beautiful places I've had the opportunity to visit. I want to express my gratitude for having had this incredible experience. It's wonderful to know that we belong to such a beautiful universe!Written 27 July 2024

- MirianM4180 contributionsVinciguerra TrekkingThe trail to Vinciguerra is a little demanding at times, but the beauty of the place, the charm of the glacier and the feeling of intimate contact with nature make every inch worth it. The Arpon guide, Léo, was very careful, set a good pace and brought safety and lightness to the walk. A nice lunch and hot drink make all the difference when hiking for many hours and the trail equipment also helps a lot, all provided by Arpon.Written 7 May 2024

- GeistGuy0 contributionsGreat trip, and I am over 60I had another tour plan with a different company, but they never showed up. My hotel put me in touch with Arpon, and we got things set up on very short notice. I'm 61 years old and in reasonably good shape, but certainly not a marathon runner. I was concerned with the length of the trip and whether or not I could make it. I rented some boots, which you absolutely 100% will want to do because it is very muddy, and there are also areas with bog, and that is occasionally wet as well. Including the guide we were a group of four, and it was a great trip. They were patient with me and made occasional stops so I could catch my breath. There were some challenging hilly areas, but nothing dangerous. You also will want climbing poles. Everyone in our group, as well as anyone we saw on the trail, was using them. Our guide was very friendly and helpful, and I'm proud to say that I made it all the way to the top and all the way back down without a problem. Keep in mind that this is is a somewhat challenging hike and is about 14 km (8.7 mile) round trip. If you're not in at least reasonably good shape, this probably isn't for you. That being said, it is not a dangerous hike, and I never felt like I was going to fall off a cliff or down a mountain. But it's not a walk in the park either. Our guide was friendly, obviously experienced, and did a great job overall. The bag lunch they provided was also excellent and plentiful. Great experience, and great things to say about Arpon.Written 1 April 2024
- nkadhim0 contributionsFantastic trek with a great tour companyThe company was so responsive and professional and on time . The guide loved his job and easy to speak to and his English was good - Manuel- and had lots of local knowledge. Overall a wonderful and once in a lifetime experience . So fabulous to trek on the glacier as well as Laguna esmeralda !Written 28 February 2024
- rosemaryjose0 contributionsIncredible experience in UshuaiaVery well organised and absolutely incredible scenery. Also, a relatively small group which I liked. Considering the fact that I barely speak any Spanish, I felt very welcome the whole time. The guides maintained a very good pace for a difficult hike (mostly due to the terrain - snow and rocks - and not altitude) to make sure everyone got to the top. We were given helmets, crampons and a walking stick. Lunch was also delicious as we were given a hot cup of pumpkin soup at the summit. They translated all the information for me as well as they could and I appreciated it very much. Would definitely recommend.Written 28 January 2024
- Manuel1503970 contributionsOtherworldly Experience!Unforgettable experience! Truly a memorable trekk all the way to the glaciar. My guide was Carlos Torres, who I recommend asking for, as he set the right pace for the group, was very knowledgeable and a great dude overall to chat with along the trail. I totally recommend it!Written 2 July 2023

- Dana T0 contributionsGlacier hike, just wow! What a truly incredible hike! If you want a moderately difficult hike, this is for you! The view along the way was incredible and the pinnacle glacier was worth the trip! We didn’t walk on the glacier since it was too warm, but it didn’t matter because we were able to still get very close. Our guide fantastic and made the trip fun for everyone. Possibly my favorite part of our trip to Ushuaia!Written 5 March 2023

I did this walk with a group of five other people and our guide, Pamilla.
Pick up was on time and we arrived at the starting point in good time. The track is extremely muddy at the moment due to all the rain and Pamilla was great at picking a good path and looking after all the group. It is 5 km to the lake where you have a break and then 5 km back. A light brunch is provided at the lake with tea, empanadas (excellent), fruit, dried fruit and nuts and cakes.
Some the hike is challenging - there is climb uphill for a section and also some peat bog to negotiate. Poles were provided. I thought it was a terrific day and would recommend using Arpon. The lake is beautiful with the glacier and mountains above it and you walk through some nice forest and also an area where the beavers have dammed up a river.

The truth is that it was incredible, I would recommend wearing good boots, a jacket and waterproof pants in case it rains and because of the mud that is generated on the trail, as well as a medium-sized backpack to carry water, the lunch that the company gives you, and a hat and gloves, etc. Violeta was my guide and the truth is that it is clear that she loves what she does and was able to solve problems that I made to her. Thank you very much 🫡

Abrazos

A wonderful day. What an experience. The lake was frozen so it was not possible to see it in emerald color. However the trakking on the snowy, frozen landscape was incredible. Walking on snow was a unique experience. I went in June because I wanted to see snow. The effort level is low for those who already do some physical activity. However, the slippery ground in some frozen parts makes the route medium difficulty. It is essential to use the correct equipment. Congratulations to Arpon. Our guide was Gaia, very attentive and friendly. Travel time as advertised.

Terrible coordination between your sales people and your guides. They say one thing and others say another. They did not comply with the agreed time. They said that at 8 o'clock then at 9 o'clock and then not at 10 o'clock. I wanted to cancel and the WhatsApp person said there was no problem and within an hour they changed what they had told me. You can go without a guide, it is not worth hiring them

The operator is excellent! The information sheet and instructions are sent well in advance, which gives us security. The guide Eugénia has experience, patience and is very careful with everyone under her care. It teaches a lesson about the city, about the biome, what we are seeing as we walk! Carry our hot water on your back for the infusion that will be served to us! An incredible experience!! I recommend it 100%.

A great day out! I was collected from my hotel on time, given a lovely lunch (without tomatoes as requested). Joaquin was very friendly, helpful and filled us in on lots of details in the area. Everyone else spoke Spanish so he told them first and then as we walked along he filled me in in English.
It isn't a technically difficult walk but with the thick mud it was trickier than I expected. But, it is definitely worth it for the view!

I chose to go with Arpón for a trek to Esmeralda
Picked up by the driver and Carlos from my hotel. It was a small group which was great
We were giving cramp ons and walking stick to make the trek easier
Carlos our guide was amazing he is very knowledgeable and experienced when it comes to this
We always felt safe and had a lot of fun
The hike itself is fairly easy. The lunch box we had was good too
Carlos did his best to help me feel part of the group as I was the only non Spanish speaker in the group

Going to Laguna Esmeralda is a great visual experience and connection with nature!🏔️
To enjoy and based on my experience, I suggest:
✅ You must have adequate physical condition to climb 5 km and then return. The road is full of mud, stones and if you are lucky you may get snow. 🌨️
✅It is important that you wear boots and hiking shoes. I had to see many people who were wearing nice sports tennis shoes, however, in addition to the fact that the tennis shoes came back dirty, for safety reasons it is not the most optimal.
✅I brought a thermal sweatshirt, my waterproof jacket and my snow jacket and it was super cool.
✅Consider that your pants are also special pants for hiking and waterproof type.
🏞️There are many places to rent this type of clothing in Ushuaia.
🆒 The Arpón Trekking team is very good and highly expert as a guide, I felt very safe, they were taking us on the right path and the guide was always very attentive to each one of us ❤️👏🏼👏🏼

A great outing. There were 11 trekker with a couples and solos. The guide was great: good pace, appropriate stops, good information, and friendly. I would highly recommend this trek. The organization and the guide have a high emphasis on safety and ensuring the trekkers have the appropriate gear. The lunch of empanadas, hot coffee, and snack bar was perfect. I noticed that they catered well to dietary restrictions with others lunches. I highly recommend Arpon Trekking.
