About the operator

- 602natashaa0 contributionsGreat experience!Trip was seemless from pick up to drop off. Tour guide Tobias was very nice and always translated to English when providing historic facts and details throughout the drive to the national park. He made sure he repeated the details of where to catch the boat, where he will be to pick us up after the boat ride and what time to be back on the bus to end the day. Tour picks you up from hotel and brings you to the park. I highly recommend the boat ride as it's the closest way to see the glacier. After the boat ride you have 2hoursish to walk the walkways which was perfect amount of time. It was a great day and worth doing.Written 24 May 2024
- heatherk9990750 contributionsAbsolutely amazing glacier tourThe most incredible tour. Really informative guide who spoke both English & Spanish. Stopped at a great look out, then onto a 1 hr boat tour up close to the glacier, then had 2 hours to complete a walk of a choice of 3 and have some afternoon tea. Best day ever. The glacier is just fantastic.Written 25 April 2024
- PAD30 contributionsMoney is a BIG problem in ArgentinaThere is no money in Argentina. Do not book anything that requires cash. The banks are inept and can only dispense small amounts of money with high fees. Please do not book anything in advance and do not book any places that want cash. There's is NO cash here. Their economy is stuffed. I would recommend booking accom when you are about to come because if you book in advance....you are paying too much. Either bring USD in cash or you are in trouble. Some places charge 20% to use a credit card. That is because they know their money will drop in value before they get payment. Tricky landscape....but still great.Written 25 April 2024
- Adventure7172070 contributionsFine as a whistlestop tour and good valueAn okay excursion to El Chalten but only a couple of short walks rather than actual treks. Guide (Camilla) was helpful and informative. Probably too much time spent in El Chalten at the end of the excursion. Decent price and value for the trip but probably better options if you want to do longer treks.Written 5 April 2024
- dac550 contributionsGlaciers are stunningWe decided to go for the full "Gourmet" trip and included the disembarking at Perito Mereno Glacier. The Spegazinni Glacier was worth the time and money spent doing the sailing tour. We took a boxed lunch from our B&B as was cheaper. The pick ups were good and organization of the tour was excellent. However, if you are on a budget, just a visit to the boardwalks and a short boat ride at Perito Mereno is OK and a must do.Written 24 March 2024

- kimikos20210 contributionsBest tour guide everThis was an incredible experience from before the trip all the way through. The male tour guide (who's name I sadly forgot) was without exaggeration the best tour guide we've ever had. So great and informative in both Spanish and English and he made us all feel well taken care of. You can tell he cares and is really good at his job. Of course the glaciers were amazing as well. The roar of the glaciers when they break is simply breathtaking. The WhatsApp communication before the tour was also amazing. This company really has it together. 10/10 recommend!!Written 7 February 2024
- B9148UApamc0 contributionsEl Chalten and WaterfallGreat trip but weather was not the best so views of El Chalten not very good. Our guide definitely looked out for us. If you bring your own lunch nowhere to eat if raining. We ate our own lunch in a restaurant and bought a beer. Awkward! You are dropped off for lunch in a place with no shopping. You have one hour ish. for lunch. We also took a short hike to a Waterfall which was amazing! We definitely got wet! But, it’s just water! . Wear layers and bring rain gear just in case.Written 3 February 2024

- courtneym-ca0 contributionsTerrible customer service!I went on the El Calafate to Torres del Paine tour. The tour guides were very friendly and helpful, as much as they could be for the tour. The scenery was beautiful! The vehicle was terrible because the air conditioning was broken, making 10 hours in the vehicle very uncomfortable. When I tried to speak to the company about it, they completely ignored my messages. Had I not booked through Get Your Guide, it would have been a really awful customer service experience. Thanks, Get Your Guide! I wouldn’t recommend going on any tours with this company, given how terribly I was treated afterwards.Written 11 January 2024

The trekking is really fantastic and we had a great time, definitely visit the glacier if you’re in El Calafate.
The organisation of the tour could have been clearer, we were told we would be picked up from the hotel at 8.15 but this was actually the time the bus leaves their office, so we waited almost an hour and had no idea why our bus was so late (or even if it was coming). We also thought we were booking an all inclusive tour but when we arrived in the national park the bus stopped and we had to pay an extra fee to enter the park. There is also nowhere to get food until the end of the day (4.30pm) and they didn’t let people know, luckily we brought a packed lunch, but other people on our tour went hungry.
While I would recommend the trekking, it might be better to book it with the company who actually run the treks (I think they are called Hielo y Aventura), or just be aware of the extra fee, the need to bring food and the loose timing of the buses.

Absolute nightmare getting any sort of response from this third party company. We booked online for the mini ice trekking including a transfer by bus, paid the money and then got an email saying that actually we couldn’t go on the transfer and could we just make our own way to the glacier. Despite sending multiple emails and text messages asking how to do this and asking for a reduction in price if we were expected to make our own way there, we heard nothing back. Unprofessional and disappointing. We cancelled and found the direct company that offers the trek (hielo y aventura) - book directly with them for half the price and much better customer service.

Outstanding tour company. We booked multiple things with them. We did the glacier gourmet cruise as well as mini trekking. They also did our transfers to our hotel from the airport. These guys were outstanding from the start. They communicated immediately on WhatsApp to confirm everything and kept that line of communication open during our entire time in Calafate. The excursions were awesome although to be fair, the excursions themselves are run by other companies - but Patagonia organizes everything to get you there and back to your hotel. Since they organize it all, communication was key and they were outstanding at that. I would definitely book with them again.
And with highly recommend both the excursions that we did above.
With the glacier gourmet, definitely add on the walkways - the views are beautiful and this add on gives you more time on the walkways (90 minutes) than the time given during the mini trek (50 minutes). The walkways are actually tons of steps so be prepared that if you want to get to all the good spots, you will have to work for it climbing up and down. My watch said I had climbed up and down over 1000 feet of stairs by the time I was done with the walkways on the 90 minute day. Take water with you.
Mini trek was amazing. It’s a little bit of effort but not too much effort if in decent shape. More a matter of just walking mindfully so as to not step in a hole or get a crampon caught on a pant leg, lose balance and go flying down the ice. It’s probably a total of around 2.5 miles of hiking with totally elevation gained of 500 feet over land and ice combined.
Great excursions, thanks Patagonia Dreams!

Fantastic experience while you still can. Our guides were very skilled yet funny.
If you have any doubts about whether it is worth the money... don't do it... just book if you want to take a walk on this beautiful glacier.
Keep in mind that you also have to pay the entrance to the park and an additional 12,000 pesos (dated October 17, 2023).

An experience to absolutely do if you are physically able. Seeing the glacier is one thing, discovering it through this trek is totally different. It’s a unique experience. However, Patagonia Dreams only transports us to the port. We are then taken over by another company which has a monopoly on site. I did not book this tour directly with them. I went through another intermediary whose price was significantly lower.... quite incomprehensible....
Be careful, you have to pay an entrance fee to the national park and they do not accept cards or USD, bring Argentine pesos. It would be simpler to include this fee in the price of the excursion...

Overall a great day. Matthias and Mooty(sp?) were great ice trekking guides - careful, kind and fun.
We spent more time on the glaciar than I expected, enjoyed the celebrated whisky on glacial ice and headed home.
The boardwalks are great for viewing this spectacular glaciar, and the boat ride got us closer still.
Totally recommend the tour — but here is a tip: Hielo y Aventura run the ice trekking. You will see this tour offered by many different tour companies. From what I can make out — what the other companies do is provide transportation to the park and back, and get you on the boat.
Buy the tour with transportation if you don’t want to bother with a taxi, Uber, or rent a car. And if you want to see every street and hotel in El Calafate (more than once) on the milk run pick up — for an hour or more. This happens both on the way to the park and back.
If you just want to get out to the park, see the glaciar early, have lots of time on the boardwalks and do the ice trekking, save yourself a few hours and find your own transportation.

Extremely well run and professional! Picked up on time from our hotel in a comfortable mini van with a tour group of around 15. The team, Guadalupe and Marcelo, were excellent and gave great background and tips on the trip to the glacier. Once at the glacier, you are allowed about 2 hrs to walk at your own leisure through the boardwalks and then you are driven to the port where you take a ferry across for the mini trekking. Ferry and trekking is done by a separate company, but Patagonia dreams organises everything for you and waits for your return for the trip home. Excellent excursion. You will need to bring lunch or alternatively purchase at the snack bar.

This was a very unique experience. The boat ride and hiking to the glacier was as enjoyable as the glacier trekking. A very fun day but I can’t give this experience 5 stars because there were just too many people on the tour. I think there were 17 in our group once we got onto the glacier and it made for a lot of stop and go. It was hard to get good pictures with that many people around. But besides that it was still an enjoyable experience.

Dear Nicole
Thank you a lot for your comment, this really help us, as there are other travellers reading the forum.
Usually, groups are made between 10-15 people per group, may be the day you did the tour, there were more people in English, so the guides decided to make larger groups.
I am sorry if this was an inconvenicence, we try our best for you to have the uniqueless experience in Patagonia!
Thank you again for the comment, and i hope this wasn´t something that overshadowed the tour.
All our best

This was an excellent experience walking on the glacier. Our guide Luis was very knowledgeable, informative, and gave good instructions. It is a very scenic setting. The morning was spent walking on the several balconies across from the glacier to get many picturesque views and enjoy a picnic lunch. In the afternoon we took a boat across the lake to gear up with crampons and safety helmets to walk on top of the glacier. Highly recommend and a good value.
