We went riding last year with Diego and it was a great experience! Horses were excellent, scenery outstanding and his guiding was terrific. Steaks were great too!

          Excellent experience
Excellent experience riding in the foothills of the mountains followed by a typical ‘Asada’ with beef and sausage. Diego was helpful and informative and we spent a couple of hours on the spectacular trail. Recommended. Martin and Sheila.

          A great day!
One of the best days ever with our guide Diego. The horses were beautiful and easy to handle, the mountains were rugged and beautiful, the lunch was fantastic and the time spent with Diego was great. Highly recommended.

Amazing family 4 day trek into the Andes
We have just returned from the most amazing 4 day trek up into the Andes with Diego and Nico from Gaucho Estate. The communication beforehand with Lucila was great and enabled us to customise a trip that would work for our family of 5 (2 adults, 3 children ages 6, 9 & 12). We met Diego in person the day before the trip at our hotel to discuss everything and then were picked up as planned from the hotel to meet our horses. Having lived in Buenos Aires the last 3 years, we have had some experience horse riding at estancias, but were certainly not advanced riders! Diego and Nico spent some time ensuring we had all the basics covered and then we set off towards the first ranch. We averaged 4 hours a day for the 4 days, camping at 2 different ranches, however the real highlight was the last 2 days where we trekked for 4 hours up into the mountains and camped overnight, quite literally in the middle of nowhere, sleeping on the horse saddles, collecting water from a nearby stream and creating a fire from dried wood to cook an amazing asado. The views were spectacular and the trip was challenging and rustic in all the very best ways. Nico was incredible with the kids, staying with our 6 year old throughout the rides making sure she felt safe and confident and we always felt that Diego had all the organisation completely under control. Cannot recommend Gaucho Estate enough, they really gave us the most unforgettable trip.

Hugo and Diego and crew were amazing!
Unforgettable experience riding and galloping through the Andes. Small intimate group. Dinner and wine was way above expectations and listening to the local musician was very memorable.

          Do it !
What an experience this was. We (two of us) were picked up from our hotel in central Mendoza, then driven up into the mountains to the north of the city. The two of us saddled up with Diego (the main guy), were taught the ropes, before heading out onto the trail. Don't worry if you can't/can barely ride a horse - we couldn't either! The scenery and views were extraordinary, and Diego was a wonderful guide - both very knowledgeable and helpful. Despite our questionable expertise aboard these beautiful horses, we were trusted to gallop into the ranch to conclude the two hour ride. This wasn't it though, with a wonderful lunch cooked on the grill for us. Having sampled plenty of Argentinian beef on our travels, this was the best we had had, particularly when combined with the homemade chimichurri. Diego also got us in touch with a white-water rafting company, and organised us to go and do that in the afternoon, before making sure we got back to the hotel in time to be picked up. Overall, this was an incredible experience, and cannot big this up enough. If you're in Mendoza, you just have to do it.

          Fantastic Experience
Diego and his team guided my wife and on an amazing adventure up into the Andes. He taught us some horse riding techniques, provided an amazing lunch and then we relaxed with some wine and singing around the fire! I would definitely book with Diego and Gaucho again.

The best riding, scenery, asado, hosts in Mendoza!
I met Diego in 2010 when I visited Mendoza for the first time. A couple of friends and I went on the Cabalgata al Atardecer. It was amazing! I fell in love with the Andes and Mendoza. Diego was a great host. At that time my Spanish was not great and he was very good about accommodating us and explaining everything in English as needed. The views, the horses, the hospitality, the food were all amazing. After dinner we drank wine and talked and played guitar and enjoyed the evening before returning. It was such a great experience that I knew I wanted to return for a longer ride. Nine years later I returned to Mendoza in June 2019 with my girlfriend and I had to contact Diego and take her with me. We went on a 2 day, 1 night ride. It was amazing. Diego is a great guide, host, and person. He will make sure you are well taken care of an have everything you need for a fantastic experience. The other guides and associates working with Gaucho Estate are great as well. Everyone is so nice and welcoming. Diego will go out of his way to make the experience unique, beautiful, and fun. He even helped me set up lodging and other excursions, wine tours, etc. The horses, views, and experience are amazing, but Diego really won me over with his cooking. He prepared a picada with whine, cheese, meats for us the first day which we enjoyed while looking down over Mendoza and watching the animals and scenery around us. It was lovely, but nothing compared to his parrillada. I have never eaten asado like this anywhere in Argentina. It was absolutely incredible. He plans every last detail of the trip including the food, and he does it well. If you’re in Argentina, consider visiting Mendoza. If you are in Mendoza, I highly recommend booking an excursion with the Gaucho Estate. You will not be disappointed.

Highly recommend this excursion. It was extremely relaxing and enjoyable. We rode horses at sunset in between the mountains, rode back and had an “asado” family style dinner with the rest of the riders and all you can drink wine. After, we sat around the fire and continued to drink wine while the owner and another worker came and played the guitar and we continue to sing, share stories, watch the stars and enjoyed the breeze until it was time to go. Trustworthy and extremely personable team.

This was a funny and different type of experience than I'm used to. With this you're able to ride horse through the the mountains and appreciate some amazing views of the city. After the horse riding you're served a great dinner with plenty of asado and wine. The best part was getting to chat with other people that were there. Only downside was I was told that I was told not to bring my dslr camera on the ride, so I had to settle for my phone to take pictures.

An outstanding all around experience with Gaucho Estate. It's no wonder they are rated so highly and have a fantastic reputation.
5 Stars all the way thanks to all the staff; Diego and the incredible chef.

They were very punctual and the drive to the ramch was very comfortable.

We enjoyed arriving at the ranch and seeing the animals and getting a briefing from Diego.

The ride along the river was incredible with stunning views and the climb up and down the mountain was memorable; Diego timed it perfectly for sunset.

The horses are very well trained and maintained.
Upon our return, we were greeted with a delicious Argentinan BBQ including salad and Malbec wine. We then enjoyed some more wine by the fireplace.

Overall it was a really magnificent experience and we can't thank Diego, and his staff enough. A must when visiting Mendoza.

We booked this tour as part of our trip to Mendoza and we were so pleased we did! My husband was apprehensive as he had a bag experience with horses as a child but once we were on the tour he loved it!

Everything from start to finish was exceptional! The transfer bus was pristine, the tour guides spoke impeccable English and were very engaging, the ranch itself was beautiful and the horses very well cared for and beautiful

On arrival at the ranch we had a practice in the riding school before heading out. The horses were all very well behaved and fairly easy to manoeuvre.

The trek itself was an experience you could only get on horseback. The scenery was beautiful and being sunset the weather had cooled off which made the trip a lot more comfortable.

After the horse ride we went for dinner which was great. The ranch were very accommodating as we are vegan so prepared us a special meal which was very nice. The meat was plentiful for everyone else and the wine free flowing!

The camp fire was a great experience and our group ended up dancing to Latin songs played by the great gaucho on the guitar. All in all this was a wonderful experience! I highly recommend.

No one on the tour was an experience rider and no one struggled so don’t let inexperienced with horses put you off!

        10/10!

Terrific experience exploring the Mendoza landscape via horseback, including views of Mendoza City. Riding in sunset and twilight really accentuates the view. The horseback riding itself was smooth and steady. While my girlfriend and I are not very experienced, we learned over the course of the 2-2.5 hours how to navigate, motivate, and generally show the horse who is in charge. The asado and fresh vegetables after the horseback riding was great and an important aspect — they slow cook on the grill the entire time we are away. If we had more time, wish we could have done one of their multi day trips up into the mountains.
Thank you to our able guide (and founder of Gaucho Estate) Diego for an excellent day. Learned much about horses, Mendoza, and Argentinian cuisine through our conversations.

This was an amazing experience and one of our favorite memories from our trip to Argentina. You don’t need any experience riding horses to be able to do this experience, as it’s quite easy to pick up. You ride for around 2 hours, going along side the Andes Mountains, expediting different variations in terrain. It starts off easy and towards the end you’re able to do some more challenging terrain, going up a small hill to see beautiful views!

Diego, our guide, was such a warm and welcoming person. He helped everyone get situated with the horses and made sure we all were able to handle the horses okay throughout the ride. You can tell Diego loves what he does and genuinely enjoys sharing the gaucho (cowboy) culture with others.

The BBQ at the end is AMAZING! Some of the best meat you’ll have and it was so enjoyable talking with the other people on the tour. After the sun sets, Diego played songs on the guitar and sang for us. It was such a beautiful evening we didn’t want it to end.

If you’re in Mendoza, you HAVE to do this!! My only regret is not doing a longer trip with them!

(Make sure to wear pants though as you go through some brush with thorns on them. Diego pretty much had to tell every person to change into pants when he picked us up since that wasn’t communicated beforehand.)

Beautiful horse ride. I have not ridden a horse in 30 years, and the tour guide was very helpful to us beginners. Gorgeous sunset views. Nice and quaint dinner of Argentinian BBQ and red wine at the conclusion of the ride. If you are looking for photographic scenery and a new experience with horses on a single track trail in the foothills, I would highly recommend. Also an excellent way to get to know others on the tour, very interactive experience.

Terrific gauchos and gorgeous vistas! Accompanied by a country-casual barbecue (parilla)! We loved the 90 minute ride, it just long enough without getting sore;) The countryside is really stunning. And we really enjoyed the company of other international guests and a Spanish guitar sing-along. Highly recommend for a casual, fun night!

The sunset ride with the Gaucho Estate seriously exceeded all expectations. The pickup was on time, the horses all prepared for the trip, but the path surprised me, never had climbed mountains on a horse. Happiness over the asado after the riding reflected on everyone’s faces and the guitar & singing by the fire was a cherry on top. Definitely worth recommending to all friends traveling to Mendoza.
