What to expect
Meet your guides in the fashionable neighborhood of Palermo Viejo to begin your 4-hour culinary experience. Begin by learning how to light the parrilla (the grill) and make chimichurri. Once the chimichurri is complete, it’s time to head out into the neighborhood for the approximately 1-hour shopping portion of your tour. During your walk, you will stop at a plaza to learn about the history of the neighborhood. You will also see excellent examples of street art and can learn about the artists who have created them. Your first stop will be at a family owned, hand-made knife store. Learn about the important role knives played in the history of the local Gauchos. Next, head to a local wine shop to find excellent wines to pair with the food you will prepare. Then it is time to stop at the butcher shop to compare the different cuts of meat. Then, make one last stop at the bakery before heading back to the guide’s home to begin preparing the asado. Learn how to prepare the meat, create the salad and build the fire with charcoal and wood. While the food cooks, enjoy a light snack and a traditional, local drink, a ‘fernandito,’ while learning about its place in Argentine history. Then, as the food you’ve helped prepare begins being placed on the table, switch over to delicious wines and enjoy your hearty meal. To finish off your meal, help prepare a typical Argentine dessert and enjoy a classic mate with a unique twist.

A must-do in Buenos Aires!
Mar 2020
This was my favorite activity we did in BA! Felt like such an organic, non-touristy experience. We were welcomed into Franky's super cool home in Palermo (awesome neighborhood!) where he sat with us for a bit and explained how we would spend the day. We learned about his background and then began some prep for the meal we would be having later. He led us around his neighborhood, explained the impressive street art, shared some history about Argentina and BA, and then took us to his local market to pick out the meat for the asado. We also went to a wine shop and had a glass of Malbec and learned about the wine industry in Argentina. Then we headed back to his house to enjoy the food in his courtyard! The grillmaster cooked up some incredible meat, and we got to try interesting food that I hadn't eaten before. We also enjoyed fernet and coca-cola, two kinds of wine, and we learned about (and drank) mate. Frank is informative, helpful, and fun, and this just felt like such a personal experience, to be invited into someone's home and see how the locals live. My advice...book it!!

I had a great time hosting you in my home and I'm so glad that you felt like it was non-touristy, that is exactly what I always try to make everyone feel like. I want everyone to feel like they are just visiting a friend and hopefully learning about a new culture over some great food and wine. Thank you for spending the day with me!

A really wonderful day
Mar 2020
Today we met Frank at his lovely home in Palermo from where, after learning to make carmelized pecans and chimichurri, we launched into a street art/food shopping tour of Palermo Viejo. Frank was wonderful at explaining the history of the neighbourhood, the street art with its meaning and importance and many little quirks of Buenos Aires that make it such a facinating city. After the tour which included wine tasting at a beautfiul wine shop and restaurant, we returned to Frank's home to eat what the grillmaster had prepared. Lunch was fabulous - all Argentine classics explained by Frank and devoured by us,.
Frank has very thoughtfully put this tour together. He does many small things which make the tour special e.g. taking pictures during the walking part of the tour and slightly modifying some of the offering to suit non-Argentine tastes. If you have time in the city, you should really join Frank for lunch!

Wonderful tour and lunch
Feb 2020 • Friends
The two of us had a wonderful day wandering the streets of Palermo with Frank, getting great information about the street art, which explains some of the history of Argentina. We shopped, including wine tasting, we assisted with food preparation, and then we were educated in the art of Asado. A great lunch and overall a very enjoyable experience.

Asado adventure
Jan 2020 • Friends
We recently spent the day with Frank exploring the wonderfully decorated streets of his neighbourhood, buying the meat for our Asado and stopping along the way for a spot of wine tasting.
We ‘helped’ Frank prepare some of the dishes in his beautiful home and settled in with our personal grill master to spend the afternoon enjoying the parade of deliciousness served to us.
Frank was a wonderful host, very personable and knowledgeable, and this was a day to remember. He has also shared photos and recipes with us. Do yourself a favour and spend the day barbecuing the Argentinian way.

Amazing tour of Palermo Street Art and Asada lunch
Jan 2020
Frank was an amazing, welcoming and knowledgeable host. First, we were welcomed into Frank's home(beautiful kitchen/living space and courtyard garden) - where we prepared chimichurri sauce and roasted pecans and learned a bit about Frank's journey to Buenos Aries! Then we were off to walk the streets of the Palermo Viejo neighborhood - learning all about it's rich history and street art. Frank is very knowledgeable about his neighborhood and is a good story-teller. Then it was to the market and the wine store to gather the items for the Asada back at the house. The meal was delicious and Frank continued to tell us about Buenos Aries culture and traditions. We had Fernet and Coke (a very popular drink...I think it is an acquired taste!!) and shared Mate. Franks took pictures of us on the walking tour with the street art and e-mailed the link to us, along with the recipes for the dishes we had for lunch. It was a perfect afternoon!

Amazingly unique experience & eating adventure - Frank is the perfect host!
Jan 2020
We were recommended to Frank's Asado Adventure by friends on our cruise ship, and even with the bar set high, we were not disappointed. What an amazing and different time we had - just what we were looking for! We got to see Frank's house, walk the streets of Palermo, visit some markets and a wine bar (for some tasting!) - all on the front half. Frank was such a good guide and host - being an expat from Chicago but now immersed for 20 years in the Buenos Aires lifestyle! We learned so much about the culture, the Palermo area, the people, the food, the wine, and more!
And then, back to Frank's oasis in Palermo! We had earlier got to participate and make some roasted pecans and some chimicurri sauce! Then we sat down to some appetizers and Fernet & Coca Cola. Quite a different drink! Finally, a wonderful Asado meal cooked to perfection by Max and served out in the patio on a beautiful sunny day. Thank you Frank for a great time. We hope to get back to Buenos Aires and if so, would do your craft beer tour! I

I'm so glad that you enjoyed the Asado tour and having me show off the neighborhood and the house for the day. I would love to show you some of the best brew pubs in the city, nestled in an off-the-beaten track residential neighborhood when you come back to Argentina!

Perfect Argentine Experience
Dec 2019
We simply cannot recommend AsadoAdventure highly enough. Every part of the experience was enjoyable and a perfect way to spend a day in BA. It was the best way to take a deep dive into traditional Argentine food and its preparation as well as Palermo Viejo's history and its rich tradition of street art. Our group, even the teens, was engaged in all parts of the day, including the food preparation and firing up the asado.

Frank is an excellent tour guide and a generous host. He was patient when the kids got peckish on the neighborhood tour so he led us to an excellent donut store that made everyone happy. His home is beautiful and our group of three families felt very comfortable in the kitchen, living area, and outdoor patio. The afternoon culminated in a truly fabulous and authentic Argentine meal and experience.

Communicating and scheduling with Frank was seamless before our visit. He is incredibly resourceful and was very helpful to us before and during our time in BA.

Dear Jennifer, Thank you so much for taking the time to leave these very nice comments. I'm so glad I was able to help out with some of the other activities you chose as well as the information you requested. But the best thing for me was to be able to spend the day with your family and seeing how even the teenagers loved the food even though they didn't know what some of it was (note: the parents instructed me not to tell them what they were eating... and they loved it). I had a lot of fun showing you around my neighborhood and hosting your group in my home. Thank you for sharing the day with me!

Fully immersive and delicious day tour
Our group of 10 had an amazing day with Frank. From being welcomed into his stunning “hidden gem” of a home, to exploring the neighborhood, to sharing a delicious meal together - we loved it all. This was a perfect way to get to know Buenos Aires, Argentine culture and history, and most of all the range of food we could expect during our upcoming week in the country. Our teens were engaged and the adults were fascinated by Frank’s knowledge and stories. Definitely a great day for all-ages. And best of all, the food was simply amazing. Thanks again, Frank!

Thank you so much for visiting with me! I loved it that your group not only didn't let me tell the teenagers what they were eating, but the teenagers themselves loved all of the food, they tried everything on the menu and some of the items were the first time they were trying. I loved seeing that happen before my eyes. It was a real treat hosting your family in my home.

Excellent way to see more of Buenos Aires
Jan 2020
Frank is the ultimate host! We met at his house, which is lovely, and moved on to prepping some simple foods and then a fantastic street art tour. After many great sights, we visited a grocery and a wine shop. Frank has invested a lot of time in his research about the neighborhood and the murals. It enriches the experience. We came back to much food and good conversation. Highly recommended!

A HIGHLIGHT of our Visit!
Jan 2020
An INCREDIBLE experience! If you are looking for a more personal and casual introduction into the world of Argentina life, Frank is the man! He will invite you into his home and for the next 3+ hours will tell you and show you the beautiful culture of his neighborhood in BA. Frank is the ultimate host. You will be fed extremely well and will leave feeling as though you spent the day with an 'old friend' who just introduced their world to you. Most definite, one of the highlights our our holiday in South America. You will be very glad you have this experience. If vacationing in BA this is the experience not to be missed!
