About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- 454kristien0 contributionsGreat way to spend an afternoon! We didn’t have a lot of time in Buenos Aires and wanted to do something fun with the little time we had. This turned out to be a great experience! Every stop was delicious and just the right amount of food. We really enjoyed learning more about Buenos Aires and Palermo. Frank was an excellent guide. Highly recommend!Written 7 November 2024
- Angie94530 contributionsA delightful visit to Palermo Viejo!Natalie our guide was excellent. She ascertained any food allergy information before we started and was conscious of it the entire tour. Her demeanor was outgoing and extremely friendly. She taught us a great deal about the culture and customs of Palermo. Her knowledge of the street art was impressive. We thoroughly enjoyed the tour and Natalie's presentation. We would highly recommend this tour.Written 7 October 2024
- K2175OJbrians0 contributionsPlentiful, authentic food - great history. This tour saved me - I didn't know where to eat in Buenos Aires, what to order, what to see. In fact, I was rather overwhelmed by the possibilities. This tour was great as we started with a light, traditional Argentinian breakfast and proceeded from there. We toured and learned about the Botanical Garden, Palermo Soho with its vibrant street art and progressive community vegetable garden fed by the city's compost and we even learned how difficult it is to score a card to ride public transportation, which, like the rest of the vehicles in the city, is rather crazy as we saw in Plaza Italia. The food was great and it was served in such portions and we did enough walking that it never seemed like too much. We ate at a neighborhood parrilla rather than a tourist trap one. We had amazing cheese at one stop and I discovered my new favorite drink - limonada!! The amount of meals you get and the information you learn and the sites you see for the price is phenomenal. If I had done this one my own, I would have spent significantly more, ordered incorrectly and missed the story behind the sites, not to mention a lot of the sites themselves. I cannot believe what I got for the price. ALL the meals are included in your tour price!Written 16 September 2024
- Chrispaddler0 contributionsA great 'taste' of urban Argentina! We very much enjoyed this unique local experience with our expert guide, Agustin! It's hard to find an experience that combines history, art, food, wine and great conversation - all in a half day's leisurely stroll around such a beautiful city. It was my wife's favorite part of our time in Buenos Aires! We would highly recommend this casual outing to get a great 'taste' of urban Argentina...Written 15 August 2024

We explored several parts of Palermo, stopping for amazing food - including black sausage, steak, empanadas and gelato. Josephine was very knowledgeable, providing just the right amount of information and history about the area, making it personable and accessible. We learned a lot from her! I’d highly recommend this company, the communication was great and it was absolutely good value.Written 20 April 2024

- jimfryefrye0 contributionsPalermo history and food experience! Not to be missed!A great tour of Palermo and vicinity with Frank who gave us great insights to both the rich local history as well as a wonderful food adventure. The combination of both were just perfect. Made it fun, got in some needed walking and the conversation was wonderful. His ability to customize to what we wanted was the best and we will be returning for much more! P.S. the wine tasting was amazing.Written 21 March 2024

It was a wonderful excursion , Frank is extremely knowledgeable of the history of the neighborhoods we browsed through and the food stops were great ! We started with croissants and coffee , had a special juice break in the park, went to a fabulous wine tasting , special sausage lunch, more coffee, and ended our day with gelato ! Frank will plan your tour to fit your agenda . I highly recommend!!Written 19 March 2024
- Katy D0 contributionsWonderful Day TourWe started our visit to Buenos Aires with this tour and it was so much better than we anticipated it would be! We are so glad we discovered it. Our guide, Josefina, was absolutely wonderful. We started at a small restaurant where we had typical medialunas and my husband had a typical drink, a submarine, which was new to us. While we ate, Josefina learned about us andmour interests and explained the tour to us. Josefina’s English is perfect and she is very knowledgeable about Buenos Aires history, culture, and food. We visited many sites that we would have never seen if it had not been for this tour. Josefina explained to us all about General Garibaldi in Plaza Italia and after giving us some of his history, she pulled out a thermos of Garibaldi drinks! Our tour included a wine tasting which was in a beautiful boutique hotel. We had a delicious steak at a little local place that we would never have chosen on our own. Throughout the tour, Josefina related history in a meaningful way and she was also able to tell us about current events in Argentina. She has a nice sense of humor. The day flew by! After the tour, Frank sent us a beautiful photo album along with more information about monuments and murals we saw. And, Josefina helped me findna store that sells those little white penguin pitchers . This tour is well worth the price. One of the best ever. Go!Written 27 February 2024

- nlwenzel0 contributionsAsado Food Tour PalermoWe do food tours everywhere we travel. It is a unique way to learn about the local culture through food. I reached out to Frank many months ago and he provided me with recommendations and sound advice for enjoying Buenos Aires. This tour was exactly what we hoped based on how well Frank treated us. Fernando was our guide. He was very informative with both the food and the culture. Thank you to the team for welcoming us and showing us the local cuisine. The memories will be discussed for a lifetime. Muchas gracias!Written 19 February 2024
- tonypE2913VA0 contributionsA most excellent food and wine adventureMy wife and I booked the Palermo Food and Wine Tour with Asado Adventure Foods. We like the experience of guided food tours, especially when we have never been to that city before. It gives us insight into the history and culture of a place and its people. We booked the tour a year in advance with the owner Frank who was also very helpful providing information on local hotels, sights and restaurants. On the morning of the tour, we were reminded by text where to meet our guide and advised to be sure to dress comfortably and wear a hat as the weather was going to be sunny and very hot. We met our vibrant and engaging guide Natalia at a local restaurant where we enjoyed coffee and pastries while she discussed the days offering. Our day took us to the botanical gardens, where Natalia came prepared with bug spray, just in case, then past local historical sites where she took pictures of us and the sites and told us about the history of what we were seeing. We then moved on to food tastings at several local eateries, places that you would never know to stop at on your own, but at which we enjoyed delicious examples of the local food and Natalia told us about the customs surrounding food and family in Chile. Finally, we stopped for wine tasting at the Miravida Hotel and Wine Bar where Sandra, the most knowledgeable Hotel sommelier shared some delicious wines. Between the food and wine stops, Natalia took us on a tour of local wall art in the Palermo area providing us with information on the history of the area, the artists and Chile. Throughout the tour Natalia made sure to check on our comfort (it was a very hot day) and made sure we had plenty of water and shade. This was an exceptional tour and we enjoyed ourselves immensely. It was worth every peso.Written 11 February 2024

The two of us had a wonderful day wandering the streets of Palermo with Frank, getting great information about the street art, which explains some of the history of Argentina. We shopped, including wine tasting, we assisted with food preparation, and then we were educated in the art of Asado. A great lunch and overall a very enjoyable experience.

Today we met Frank at his lovely home in Palermo from where, after learning to make carmelized pecans and chimichurri, we launched into a street art/food shopping tour of Palermo Viejo. Frank was wonderful at explaining the history of the neighbourhood, the street art with its meaning and importance and many little quirks of Buenos Aires that make it such a facinating city. After the tour which included wine tasting at a beautfiul wine shop and restaurant, we returned to Frank's home to eat what the grillmaster had prepared. Lunch was fabulous - all Argentine classics explained by Frank and devoured by us,.
Frank has very thoughtfully put this tour together. He does many small things which make the tour special e.g. taking pictures during the walking part of the tour and slightly modifying some of the offering to suit non-Argentine tastes. If you have time in the city, you should really join Frank for lunch!

An INCREDIBLE experience! If you are looking for a more personal and casual introduction into the world of Argentina life, Frank is the man! He will invite you into his home and for the next 3+ hours will tell you and show you the beautiful culture of his neighborhood in BA. Frank is the ultimate host. You will be fed extremely well and will leave feeling as though you spent the day with an 'old friend' who just introduced their world to you. Most definite, one of the highlights our our holiday in South America. You will be very glad you have this experience. If vacationing in BA this is the experience not to be missed!

This review is for the walking through (of about 5 restaurants) in the Palermo district with street art between each location
We did the walking food tour and really enjoyed the experience. We were in Buenos Aires between Christmas and New Year and assembling plans mid-flight. Frank was back in the US for the holiday but was incredibly communicative and helpful in figuring out how to make a trip work. He kept us posted and was very patient with us as we waffled back and forth on other scheduling conflicts and paying in person and online. Then Augstin was a wonderful tour guide. He was patient as we asked ENDLESS questions about everything. Because we did the tour on New Years eve, some of the restaurants were closed but he improvised and we still had a great experience. All of the restaurants selected were excellent and you truly gain a better understanding of Argentine food and culture. Highly recommend!

I am so glad that you enjoyed the tour! I only wish that I could have been in Argentina to meet you. It's always a challenge to run the tour during one of the biggest holidays of the year, but we manage to improvise. I greatly appreciate your patience in that type of situation.

This was my favorite activity we did in BA! Felt like such an organic, non-touristy experience. We were welcomed into Franky's super cool home in Palermo (awesome neighborhood!) where he sat with us for a bit and explained how we would spend the day. We learned about his background and then began some prep for the meal we would be having later. He led us around his neighborhood, explained the impressive street art, shared some history about Argentina and BA, and then took us to his local market to pick out the meat for the asado. We also went to a wine shop and had a glass of Malbec and learned about the wine industry in Argentina. Then we headed back to his house to enjoy the food in his courtyard! The grillmaster cooked up some incredible meat, and we got to try interesting food that I hadn't eaten before. We also enjoyed fernet and coca-cola, two kinds of wine, and we learned about (and drank) mate. Frank is informative, helpful, and fun, and this just felt like such a personal experience, to be invited into someone's home and see how the locals live. My advice...book it!!

I had a great time hosting you in my home and I'm so glad that you felt like it was non-touristy, that is exactly what I always try to make everyone feel like. I want everyone to feel like they are just visiting a friend and hopefully learning about a new culture over some great food and wine.
Thank you for spending the day with me!

Frank is the ultimate host! We met at his house, which is lovely, and moved on to prepping some simple foods and then a fantastic street art tour. After many great sights, we visited a grocery and a wine shop. Frank has invested a lot of time in his research about the neighborhood and the murals. It enriches the experience. We came back to much food and good conversation. Highly recommended!

We simply cannot recommend AsadoAdventure highly enough. Every part of the experience was enjoyable and a perfect way to spend a day in BA. It was the best way to take a deep dive into traditional Argentine food and its preparation as well as Palermo Viejo's history and its rich tradition of street art. Our group, even the teens, was engaged in all parts of the day, including the food preparation and firing up the asado.
Frank is an excellent tour guide and a generous host. He was patient when the kids got peckish on the neighborhood tour so he led us to an excellent donut store that made everyone happy. His home is beautiful and our group of three families felt very comfortable in the kitchen, living area, and outdoor patio. The afternoon culminated in a truly fabulous and authentic Argentine meal and experience.
Communicating and scheduling with Frank was seamless before our visit. He is incredibly resourceful and was very helpful to us before and during our time in BA.

Dear Jennifer,
Thank you so much for taking the time to leave these very nice comments. I'm so glad I was able to help out with some of the other activities you chose as well as the information you requested.
But the best thing for me was to be able to spend the day with your family and seeing how even the teenagers loved the food even though they didn't know what some of it was (note: the parents instructed me not to tell them what they were eating... and they loved it).
I had a lot of fun showing you around my neighborhood and hosting your group in my home. Thank you for sharing the day with me!

I was fortunate enough to experience this tour as my first activity when I arrived in BA. Due to a cancellation of other individuals this turned out to be a solo/1-1 tour with Frank.
He graciously welcomed me into his beautiful home and started informing me about the history of Argentina as well as some of the dishes and foods we would be consuming later. After we set initial light to the fire for the asado we then explored the streets of Palermo taking in all the beautiful street art and buying the best in meats, cheeses and wines. When we returned the grill master himself, Max, was already hard at work putting the finishing touches on the courses that we would soon consume.
Everything about this tour is first-class, genuine and authentic. From the hosts themselves to the succulent meals and everything in between, this tour is simply not to be missed. Thanks again Frank and Max, well done!

One of the things that attracted me to visit Argentina on vacation was the asado, a backyard grilling experience that brings families and friends together over a delicious and relaxed meal. But since I don't know anyone in Argentina, I thought there was probably no way to experience it for myself.
Just a few weeks before our trip, I did a Google search to see if there was a tour group organizing one. Although I came up with a few hits, it was clear from the reviews that Frank's Asado Adventure was the best choice. As an American who has lived in Argentina for more than 20 years, he had insight into both cultures and could share what was unique.
The house was beautiful, just a 20-minute walk from our hotel in Palermo Hollywood, and introduced us to a great neighborhood we returned to a couple more times during our visit. The food was excellent (and plentiful...I think we skipped dinner that night), and it was very interesting to see the street art as we walked to the butcher shop and wine shop.
In our case, Frank went above and beyond, so it was closer to six hours than the five advertised (although we could have certainly left earlier). I would definitely recommend this experience to anyone and would further recommend not to schedule anything right afterwards so that you'll have time to wander the neighborhood. There are lots of interesting shops and beer gardens nearby.

Dear Tom,
Thank you so much for such a nice review. It sometimes happens that the visits last a little longer. I am very glad that you liked the whole experience from starting the fire, to making the chimichurri and going shopping for some of the additional ingredients.
I am very grateful that you chose us to be a part of your vacation.

Hi Andrea, I know this is very late in responding, but I never received notice that you left a question and I'm sorry about that. You can always reach out to me directly. Hopefully, I will get notification of these questions in the future. The Asado tours start at 10:30am normally.

Do the students get to cook each item and then eat them? Or do they just watch the chefs prepare each dish?
Written 7 October 2018
Our visitors learn how to light the grill directly. They then prepare the chimichurri while we guide them. After that we head out shopping for the main cut of meat, the bread and the wine. We learn a bit of neighborhood history and street art while we walk from place to place.
When we get back to the house, there is a picada already waiting. Once we finish that, our guests also help put the salads together.
We then head out to the grill and we show everyone all of the cuts that are on the grill. This is the moment that we talk about the meat, how to cook it, how to cut it, etc. We then sit down to eat.
