- 806alinai0 contributionsGreat experienceThe sunrise hiking up to Lions-Head Mountain was very interesting and i learned a lot about culture, history and nature. It can sometimes be a bit challenging if you're afraid of heights. But I felt safe the whole time, thanks to our guide Codi.Written 13 December 2024
- Excursion287182265580 contributionsMust Try If you can with CodiIt was astonishing how what we achieved! When we sign up the trip, we didn't fully apprehend what was involved to get up to the peak. Four of us went, but only three of us get up to the top. This is 1st time for me to climb the mountain like this to the summit. Without experienced tour guide like Codi, I couldn't make it! Codi is excellent guide, well planned stops and timing. He also watched all the group members carefully, gave advice and tips to climb challenge paths. We were very tired but exciting and happy to enjoy joy at the summit and rest while watching the sunset - amazing view!!Written 12 December 2024
- 529seemab0 contributionsAmazing Hike with Kurt!Hiking Lions Head was the highlight of our Cape Town trip! Firstly they were very accommodating with our reservation (I had to change it last minute due to an injury). Next, the experience that Kurt provided was amazing, He was patient and knowledgable, catering to all of us equally (I was clearly more scared of heights than others!). He set clear expectations of what to expect, took the right breaks and timed the hike perfectly. And the finale sunset spot was the cherry of the top. Never seen such a gorgeous sunset from such a comfortable spot that was so isolated. I wish we had more time to hike with him!Written 11 December 2024

- A1915YXadamh0 contributionsBrilliant sunrise hiking experienceCodi was an absolutely brilliant guide for our sunrise walk up Lion’s head. And what an experience! He is really knowledgeable about the area and history of Cape Town which was very interesting and he had time To answer everyone’s questions and stopped several times for some great photo opportunities. Really good experience and would recommend to anyone. Also great communication before the trek to make sure everyone knew the correct starting time and location.Written 9 December 2024

Kurt the guide was incredible, very knowledgeable and attentive making sure everyone felt safe on the hike. - Charlotte Y0 contributionsHighlight of our Cape Town tripThe highlight of our trip to Cape Town - the most incredible moonset and sunrise all at once! Codi was an amazing guide, reassuring us as we climbed ladders, rocks and navigated the path to the top. He also gave some really great information on the local area and was a great photographer at the top! Highly recommend this experience but not for people afraid of heights/climbing.Written 9 December 2024
- sarahkP5921NQ0 contributions10/10 experienceI really wanted to do a sunrise hike while in Cape Town, but was nervous to go alone so me and my friend signed up as part of a group hike where Idrees was our guide. He was super communicative and paced us really well. He also gave ample time to take pictures (and even took some for us), while still making it to the top on time. I would definitely recommend doing a guided hike with Idrees :)Written 8 December 2024

- T9356UAalisono0 contributionsLions Head Hear me Roar 🦁The hike was amazing thanks to the incredibly wonderful guide, Kurt. He gave a great overview of what we could expect along the way and ensured everyone felt safe and secure along the route. He thoughtfully invited his wife join as he anticipated the needs of the group would vary based on age and activity level. I was the tortoise of the group but never felt stressed and hurried along. I made it to the top with their help and encouragement. The views were amazing and Kurt doubled up as a first rate photographer for all. Safe trip down in the dark with the provided headlights and Kurt waited to make sure everyone was picked up before leaving. 10 stars ⭐️ from me.Written 3 December 2024

I booked a Table Mountain sunrise hike with The Cape Town Local and it was amazing. Despite some messy communication on my part and a last minute change of plans/dates, Tauriq was very flexible and made sure we could still go.
In the morning we were met by our guide Codi who took us up the India Venster trail. We weren’t really aware of the level of difficulty of the hike, and one of us decided to go back down. Codi made sure she knew where to go and meet up with us at the top.
The hike itself was beautiful with amazing views of Cape Town. There was plenty of time to take a rest and look around and to really take it all in. Watching the sun come up through the venster was something I will never forget and will recommend to anyone who wants to hike table mountain to do. Plus, if Codi is your guide, he will know how to capture the moment beautifully on camera!
The hike had a few climbing/scrambling parts during which Codi made sure I got up the mountain safely. He knows a lot about the mountain and Cape Town and is great company to hike and have a conversation with.
So if you’re up for a little climbing/scrambling challenge with beautiful views and a great and knowledgeable guide, for sure go on this tour! This has been the highlight of my brief Cape Town visit, and I would do it again in a heartbeat.

Tauriq Gamildien really lives up to his nickname (The Cape town Local). He has so much mountaineering experience as well as vast knowledge of the history of our beautiful city and mountain which make the hike so much more informative and special. Thank you to Tauriq :)

Get ready for an extraordinary experience led by Miles, an exceptionally experienced guide. He effectively communicated prior to the event, including what to bring to be best prepared. Prior to our ascent, he explained safety protocols, as well as, what we might expect from the mountain conditions. His generosity included bringing light snacks and delicious hot tea for our break. Miles was encouraging, motivating and helpful throughout the entire hike. Thank you, Miles!
Our day started with an early 5:45 am meet up. Don’t be put off by the early morning. It is quite a treat to experience the mountain as the day begins to wake up. Additionally, an early morning provides relief from potential heat as the hike progresses. We reached the summit in approximately 4 hours. Slow and steady is the way to go.
The hike, while not long (roughly 5km) was a personal challenge. We warmed up with a combination of level ground and slight incline before moving on to more complex terrain. Be prepared to hike, scramble across and over rocks and climb rock faces. It is quite an exhilarating experience and a personal sense of accomplishment to say the least.
The views are spectacular!! You will not regret taking this route up with the cable car ride down. Additionally, don’t be discouraged by clouds on the base of the mountain. The higher you go, fog and cloud layers can potentially shift, leaving you with grand opening of the skies and incredible views.
Words of advice…dress for a proper hike, layers, protective shoes, water is essential, small backpack to carry items (you’ll need your hands to be free), be open to the challenge and the beauty.
In a nutshell…my body, mind, emotions and spirit were all stimulated, conditioned and awakened on this journey.
Highly recommend this excursion led by Miles and this tour company!

I really enjoyed the hikes with Tauriq and recommend him as a guide to anyone visiting Cape Town. He knows the area very well and I learned a lot about the history and some useful things about nature. We went for a sunrise hike on Table Mountain which was incredibly beautiful.
The views made my last weekend in Cape Town memorable and rounded out my time in Cape Town perfectly. Although I don't usually hike much, on these 2 hikes I found my passion for it again

Camps bay, Cape of Good Hope, Cape Point, Boulders Beach , Chapman’s Peak drive , stopped for lunch at a lovely restaurant and finished the day by going up Table Mountain which we couldn’t do in the morning due to strong winds. This was the adventurous route up to the top of Table Mountain. Tauriq is an experienced and knowledgeable guide helping everyone along the way. The are sections on the route that requires some scrambling at high heights. We didnt once feel nervous and Tauriq assisted in guiding us every step on the way. Tauriq stopped at lovely secret spots for those perfect Intstagram pics and when we got to the top he had some lovely snacks to share with us! Thank you for the lovely cookies your wife baked! they were delicious :) I would definitely recommend this route to all of those seeking adventure and would definitely recommend Tauriq to show you how the locals do it!

Tauriq is not only an incredible guide with expert knowledge of all of Cape Town’s mountains, he makes you feel like the impossible is easy! One step / handhold / ladder / chain / rock at a time and some how you’ll find yourself at the top feeling accomplished for the day! There’s never any doubt with Tauriq leading the way. He literally runs these trails at night so he knows them like they’re his own. Just a lovely person and an even more amazing ultra-marathon trail running athlete. Could not recommend more highly. (Ask about his wife’s cookies also)

Highly recommend this hike, the more adventurous route with very few tourists. We hiked back down the usual tourist route and the views do not compare! Tauriq, our guide, was great from start to finish. Great communication, gave us an insight in to the local history and supported us throughout the hike and encouraged us to take things at our own pace.

it was nothing short of amazing, the knowledge shared and the care given to navigating this route. a route which definitely requires some guidance to the "venster" and ofcourse a ever necessary picture :) inside the "Venster" with views that feast the eyes all around.
Further to this, the trek up is challenged with some technicality, but all was made easier through the guidance and carefully instructed assistance of our Guide Tauriq, This gave me comfort in attempting something a little out of my comfort (the couch) zone.
Seeing cape Town and its splendor from all angles for me was the highlight of this "hike", well i deemed it more of a true adventure. great weather allowed us clear views with great conversations on the various parts of cape town, from the cape flats to the Atlantic seaboard. I highly recommend this one, i got to be honest, its not a walk in the park, but a journey beyond your boundaries in safe well trained hands ;). i loved it, and loved the journey down via the Cable Car . well for the experience, view and uhm.....fitness :)

Tauriq was an awesome guide. Despite having various levels of fitness within the people of the group, he managed to take us up the challenging route in a way that met each of our needs and expectations. I would say that I was one of the fitter and faster people and with high expectations so this is high praise.
Despite this being a popular destination, we hardly encountered anyone at all on the way up even though there were many people at the top. If you are looking to get off the beaten track and do some scrabbling along the way, this is your route and Tauriq is your guide! I would definitely use Tauriq as my guide if I am ever in Cape Town again.

I am very interested in doing this hike with my wife and 3 kids. The kids are all athletic and good climbers but they are young (12, 10, and 6). All of them have done a lot of backpacking. I want them to have an adventurous climb up table mountain, but also want to make sure we are safe. Could this hike be done safely with kids these ages? Thanks… looking to book in 2 weeks.
