          Fantastic trip
I had a fantastic 4-day trip along the Garden Route, and it truly exceeded our expectations! We managed to pack so much into a short time, and our guide, Mawande, made the experience unforgettable. His knowledge is exceptional, and he brought each location and attraction to life with fascinating stories. From the charming seaside towns to the thrilling game drive, to the unforgettable experience of seeing elephants and zip-lining – every day was a new adventure. We loved every moment of this trip and would highly recommend it to anyone looking to explore this beautiful region!

          Garden route private tour
We did a private tour with Mawande. He was knowledgeable and informative. Our conversations were always interesting and stimulating. He showed a great deal of patience while always being on time. He exceeded our expectations and enhanced our experience by highlighting all the points of interest along the Garden Route. This tour is highly recommend.

Our guide Vaughan made the trip
We'd been on the Garden Route a few years previously, when I drove ourselves. This time we thought it would be more relaxing for someone else to drive and guide us, and we chose Bokbus tours, and were so glad we did. The scenery, experiences, accomodation and general organisation were very good. But what made the trip for us, and, I'm sure, for the other 5 clients in the minibus, was our driver/guide Vaughan. He was funny, helpful and knowledgable and gave us good background tips on what to look for. He was instrumental in getting us all to gel as a group and allowing us to make group decisions without imposing his own views. For example, there was some reluctance to go to Addo Elephant park as it was thought that it would take a long time to get there and back and leaving little time in the Park itself, with no guarantee of seeing many elephants. We came to a group decision not to go, although Vaughan was happy to take anyone who did want to go. Instead we had a relaxing time in Jeffery's Bay. Having all gone to the Elephant Sactuary the day before, and given that there would be elephants at the Game Reserve, nobody thought that they were missing out.

A great way to see lots of South Africa
I had a great time on this tour, seeing so many different animals (elephants, lions, cheetahs, rhino, ostriches, antelopes, penguins) with a visit to an ostrich farm; Addo elephant park; 2 game rides at a stunning game reserve and a penguin colony - plus baboons and other animals we saw along the route. The tour takes you up to the arid desert area of Little Karoo, past lush vineyards, through forests and grassland, beautiful beaches at Plettenberg and Jeffrey's Bay, and coastal towns and stunning viewpoints. The accommodation and food throughout was excellent. Our guide Chris was fantastic: friendly, super-knowledgable and very accommodating of the different things we all wanted to do (I had a great time feeding elephants at a sanctuary; others went zip-wiring). It was very safe and fun. Highly recommended.

Our amazing trip was full of nature and adventure experiences which included safaris, animal encounters, nature walks and beautiful coastal towns. The vehicle was clean and comfortable for the journey. Our guide, Mawande, was a very experienced guide whose knowledge of this area was very interesting and informative and made our trip all the more special.

          Four day Garden Route experience
Great guide Mawabde de who was very knowledgeable and gave us great insights into S African history and a lot of information about the area The accommodation on first night was lovely and a lot of nice touches but no view which was a shame as thats what the Garden Route is about. The restaurant was great..good value and good atmosphere Second night accommodation in Stormy River Village was average and tge meal was in a “ back room” and would have been better in a restaurant with a view. Garden Route Safari…great accommodation and great guide for Safari on which we saw everything we expected. Would have been nice to have more time there before game drive. Overall a good taster..a lot of driving and the first two nights accommodation would have been better somewhere with views . Highlights.Garden route lodges snd safari/good guide/views on drives

A good tour if you have a few spare days.
The 5 days garden route tour was a very good experience. Alot of driving but also the opportunity to visit may places. Our guide was an excellent driver, very communicative and informative. He has always been The accommodation of the first. 3 nights are very basic but always clean and safe. Breakfast and wifi generally poor ( except on the 2 day, excellent breakfast). Last night at the garden route Lodge we had a very nice accommodation, excellent food and two great game drives. For sure the highlight of the tour. We were only two in this week so we travelled in a car instead of minibus. I would have expected to have at least a map of our itinerary, a bottle of water and a charger in the car that anybody could use. The reality was no map, no water and I bought the charger. This is just to say that with some small attention and better accommodation the tour could be excellent instead of just good.

          Unforgettable Introduction to South Africa
Our 5-Day Garden Route Tour was the most incredible introduction to South Africa thanks to our guide, Chris. What a fantastic time! From our first meeting through our farewell, Chris made sure we saw and did everything we hoped to do on our tour. His knowledge of South Africa made our visits to landmarks and stops along the way so much more meaningful. His passion for the history and culture of South Africa was infectious, and he brought so much enthusiasm to our trip. The accommodations at each stop were first rate, and the meals were delicious along the route. We will never forget this trip -- from the game drives to the viewpoints to the animal encounters to the gorgeous landscapes. We highly recommend this tour as a powerful way to experience so much of South Africa along the Garden Route. Ask for Chris!!

One of a kind, Garden Route tour adventure
Hi my name is jack, and I absolutely loved this tour! This Adventure created a lot of fun and life long memories. My tour guide Mr Vaughan was an absolute legend. He was very fun and enjoyable to be around. We had a very challenging group for him, but he was able to problem solve and make everybody happy throughout the trip. From walking with the big elephants to petting a wild cheetah. And also doing the world’s highest bungee jump. This tour had a ton of fun excitement!!! Highly recommended 100% and would do again in a heartbeat!

Short on time - great on experiences
A fantastic opportunity to see the amazing scenery of the Garden Route. There were opportunities to do adventure activities like bungee jumping or zip lining, but those who didn’t want to could still enjoy the locations of the Storms River and Mosselbaai. Mawande was a brilliant guide providing interesting insights into the areas we were going through. We greatly appreciated his driving skills travelling over the mountain passes. He was careful to ensure our comfort every step of the way. We’re really happy that we took this small group tour.

We were part of a small group (9 in total) that were taken to the Garden Route Game Lodge for an overnight stay.
Our early start on the first day began with a visit to see the Stony Point Penguin Colony at Betty's Bay. Having visited Boulders Beach the previous day, this provided a more natural environment to see the penguins. We then travelled to Hermanus for a brunch stop on the seafront. Our scenic journey then continued to the Garden Route Game Lodge.
Throughout the day our Driver and Guide Mawande provided a wonderful commentary, and provided us with information on life in South Africa at the present time.
The Garden Route Game Lodge provided a great location and base for an afternoon and early morning Game Drive. The accommodation and restaurant facilities were first class, and the Rangers very forthcoming with their knowledge of all the wonderful wildlife we got to see during the Game Drives.
After a hearty breakfast we set off back towards Cape Town. On the return journey we took in Cape Agulhas, the most southerly point of Africa.
Although this tour involves a high amount of travelling, the open roads and various places of interest were brought to life by our friendly and knowledgeable Guide Mawande.

Benjamin did a great job on the trip! Showed us everything around the coast! He waited for us to finish our errands in each location and made sure everyone was comfortable at all times!

The location of the safari was really nice but you only get an hour to spend at the location (swim in the pool and enjoy the views, which are incredible). Got to see the big 5 but the Giraffes are only open to see if you stay at the location more than 2 days.

At the safari restaurant there was a waitress who was serving us who was rude from the beginning, we tried to ignore her but she seemed to be in a bad mood throughout. She told another couple from our group that they cannot order food until everyone from the group arrives which was untrue. All other staff were very friendly!

One thing that was confusing is that if you buy this package you have to stay with your group at all times including dinner + breakfast. Better to buy package with friends or family not for couples.

        Dec 2022
We toured December 22&23, 2022 with Dylan Curtis who was an outstanding tour guide! He made sure the 8 of us touring introduced ourselves first and continued to share his vast knowledge about the animals and his extensive knowledge of South African history. He is well-read and knew so much information that we were captivated for the long ride to the Garden Route Lodge and back to Cape Town. He was courteous and gracious and we were more than satisfied with his service. I highly recommend this tour.

Note that this tour is a long amount of time driving with several rest stops in between. We left Cape Town at about 7:00am after picking up all passengers and arrived at the lodge at 2:30pm. We rested a couple of hours then we went for a game drive at 5:00pm which was wonderful and saw many animals. Then they provided dinner which was okay. You pay extra for alcoholic drinks.

The cabins were lovely, though we had to call maintenance twice for some minor repairs but they came immediately to make corrections. Dylan checked ed on us during our stay to make sure we were okay and satisfied. I’m very happy we went on this 2 day tour.

Another note: this tour is on a game reserve that rescues African animals so do not expect a full open land safari where the animals are free to roam. There are fence lines and restrictions where animals can go to protect them at all times. The lions are fed by hand because they were not taught to naturally hunt at birth. However, seeing the big 5 up close and personal with the game guide to explain about the animals is worth doing the tour. Our guide, Abi, was excellent driving us through the game reserve.

This was a great trip. Our driver Vaughan was very lively, humorous, personable and flexible. He gave us just the right amount of background information, gave us adequate stops for food and drink and created the best itinerary before and after the visit to the Game Lodge. The scenic routes we took were breathtaking and made the very best of each route. I would recommend this trip to anyone.

We cannot recommend this tour enough … The description of the trip is far exceeded by the reality ! Our tour guide , Vaughan , was absolutely brilliant .. He’s a lovely gentle soul but with a fabulous wealth of knowledge and full of kindness . We knew we would make a stop at Hermanus and Betty’s bay but that was it . Instead we were collected at 6 am and driven with another family of 3 to our first stop Napier for coffee and the best ( still warm ) Almond Croissant I have ever tasted ! … We drove on then to our next stop , a farm kitchen for tradional South African toasted sandwiches made on the Braai . All along the route Vaughan pointed out interesting sights . He also brought us to Cape Agulhas the most southerly trip of Africa where we literally took dozens of photos !! When we arrived at the game reserve we checked in and were shown to our accommodation … v cute and v clean rondavels … gorgeous … We met our reserve driver , Tracey , and headed off on the first of our drives … we saw Lion , wildebeest, buffalo , hippos and a rhino just to mention a few . Back in time for an amazing dinner and then fell into bed for a good sleep ! Next morning we were up for coffee at 645 before taking our second drive out to see Elephants , leopards , lions again , Zebra , springbok , eland and a massive variety of birds . The breakfast after that drive was quite incredible with everything on offer from waffles to smoked salmon , fruit bowls , sausages ,bacon , eggs , pastries and cereal . We were all very happy (and full ) heading back to Cape Town with Vaughan …
Then the trip home was even better than the trip there as we came home via Hermanus … unfortunately we are not here during whale season … nevertheless Hermanus is gorgeous .. v arty and cool … we had a long lazy lunch outside looking over the bay and we had some time shopping in the flea market ! Our only regret was having spent so much time over lunch we didn’t have time to visit a few art galleries but definitely will make us come back ! … After Hermanus we drove directly to Betty’s Bay to see the colony of African Penguins … the cutest things ! … Vaughan seemed to love surprising us because the coastal trip home was simply mind blowing … coming at the end it couldn’t have been beaten as the end of an exceptionally good trip … once again this trip exceeded all of our expectations and is definitely value for money .., I would say if you can to stay for two nights at the reserve as we would have liked a day there also to enjoy their offerings , pool , spa etc etc . Try to find 2 days for this on your holiday to CapeTown , it ticks tons and tons of boxes in a very short time … if you can get Vaughan as a driver you are onto a winner there too we think .., 6 stars from this family … thanks again for it all .

This was a Birthday to remember for my now 12 year old boy. We have been in Cape Town for a while from the states and have been looking for a Safari that met our needs. Not many Cape Town Game reserves seemed to have a great hype or satisfying reviews, so I started researching Joburg for better options as Kruger was everyone’s biggest suggestion, yet this being a holiday time off for families and kids places sounded over crowded and over priced.

Then I came up on Bokbus and their amazing crew. Everything was was so seamless from the time I WhatsApped them directly for the Garden route game reserve tour, thorough packages were clear and filled with more activities then I expected. It was a bonus to even see the most southern art of Cape Town as my son always wondered out the two oceans met. Booking directly the owner gave us a small discount that was much appreciated being a single mom surprising her birthday boy with a unforgettable celebration.

What’s even cooler is our group tour turned in a group of 3 of us ( 1 extra tourist) creating an intimate tour with what felt like a personal driver in a luxury car. Benjamin our driver was so friendly, informative, punctual to everything and catered to all of our needs. We all learned so much about each other and our driver really gave history about questions he had every answer to and personal experiences with. I hope to take another tour with them for longer days as we didn’t want it to end, but no doubt the 2 days was just enough for our first Safari trip. I think this tour is the way to go instead of driving there with no guide. I want all my friends who visit to take their tour as they will learn and experience so much about cape town.

This excursion from Cape Town is about four hours each way however, it is worth the time and early wake up call to see the true South Africa. Vaughn was an excellent tour guide, taking into account anything we asked to do and providing us with as much additional information as possible on the route to the Seregenti reserve.

Aside from the Seregenti reserve we visited the whale watching capital of South Africa and wandered the market and saw many whales from the shore as well as the southern most tip of South Africa. We asked to stop at shops and view points which he incorporated into our trip, he really made the trip a special experience before and after we did our safari.

The Serengeti national park and safari was out of this world, we saw; hippos, elephants, buffalo, wildebeest, zebra, lions and much much more. Our ranger was incredibly professional and could answer every question asked by the group about every animal we saw, she took the time to allow us multiple views of each animal and therefore, a great range of photos! Our lodge chalets were really well set out and the food was incredible, our only regret is we did not stay longer!

We are aware that this company offer a longer tour which may be the better idea as we really did enjoy our weekend with Vaughn and could have easily seen more of South Africa with his support and knowledge.

Thank you for the excellent service and vibes Vaughn, we will be back!

Mwande was a great guide. He was so knowledgeable about SA culture, history, and places. We learned so much from his sharing and have such a better understanding and appreciation of SA because of it. The stops were great, just the perfect amount of time spent with great views/opportunities for photos. The safari experience was definitely the highlight! Here we wish we could have spent more time. We would definitely recommend this to all family and friends who can’t make it to Kruger National Park due to limited time.

Our trip to South Africa was absolutely incredible, and a huge part of that was thanks to Dylan (D)! He didn’t just take us from place to place—he gave us real insight into the country, its culture, and everything that truly matters. From breathtaking viewpoints to an unforgettable safari, every moment was perfectly planned. His time management was spot on, ensuring we made the most of every experience without ever feeling rushed. I did the 2 days Safari Tour and it was nice. It's a very long drive to get to the Garden Route Lodge and the scenic road of Clarence drive was closed so it felt quite a long journey not very exciting. I was picked up from my Airbnb in Capetown by driver and guide Mawande which arrived very punctual. I was disappointed by the Garden Route Lodge Game as I wish I would have known in advance that it's quite a new reserve with many animals that were rescued and not used to be fully indipendent in the wild. The reserve has only two elephants, some very elderly lions which can't hunt and were sleeping but we also saw other animals like Bufalos, rhynos, zebras, a cheeta and more. The safari guide of the Garden Route Lodge was fantastic and the lodge is very nice. Bear in mind that if you choose the 2 days Safari you can't see giraffes as that's only for guests who book at least 2 nights in the lodge, I wished I'd known that as well in advance. All reviews I read were so good that I think my expectations were high. Overall it was a good experience and I enjoyed the stop at Hermanus and Betty's Bay. I think the price is fair as it's include also other stops and the chance to visit other places outside of Cape Town which are quite far of reach if you don't drive so I was overall happy about it. I think that if your interest is to combine the safari with the opportunity to see other places in South Africa then it's a decent deal. If your dream is instead an unforgettable safari experience perhaps there are bigger reserve close to Cape Town you'd prefer to go that are more expensive like Aguila.
