Excellent day out! We joined the tour at the Long Street office. You can also join at the Waterfront location. The team included Brahm, Leanne, and driver Julian that worked well together. We had an amazing day trip.

They use a really nice double decker bus with extremely comfortable seats. We left at scheduled time of 9:42am. We arrived at Simon’s Bay for the Penguin colony at 11:00AM. This was a two hour stop, which included time for lunch. We appreciated the 3 different options for lunch so you could go with your own personal budget. Some brought their lunch and had lunch on the beach. You could also buy sandwiches at Cafe Penguin, eat there or takeaway to eat o the beach. The third option was sit down at beautiful, affordable SeaForth Restaurant. Right on the water, with reserved seating at the best tables! We chose this option and had excellent fish and chips. (Hake, similar to cod). Excellent service as well.

Next stop was Cape Point. You could take the funicular almost to the lighthouse. Or you could walk up. You had the option to hike (guided) from Cape Point to Cape of Good Hope. The guide was really upfront about the difficulty so you could make up your mind if it was right for you. The other option was to take the bus, about 15 minutes to Cape of Good Hope.

Although a bus tour (ours had 36 people) it was so well done, options that suited everyone’s ability, and it felt very relaxed, not rushed.

We had been considering a private tour and were so happy that we chose this option instead! Saved us money without sacrificing quality.

We did the full day Cape Point Tour with the City Sightseeing Bus Co. We travelled in an air conditioned bus, with USB ports, free wifi and the ability to purchase water. The guide Charles was very knowledgeable, humerous and entertaining. The tour was excellent, it allowed plenty of time at each stop off and was great value for money. We didn't need to stop off at other stops such as Hours Bay or Camps Bay as we had already done these on the Blue Hop on Hop off bus tour.

Lunch was a stop off at the Seafront Restaurant.

I would definitely recommend this day trip.

Would recommend the Cape Point and Penguin red bus tour to anyone visiting Cape Town, of all ages and from all countries.

The sites visited, pacing of the day and information we learned was fantastic. “King” Charles our tour guide, Jade his assistant and driver Musa could not have been more accommodating and knowledgeable.

We were visiting for our honeymoon and had so much fun learning from Charles and chatting with other visitors. The first stop to the penguins at Boulders Beach was great and we especially loved the restaurant Seaforth we visited for lunch.

The Cape of Good Hope and Cape Point tour were our favorite parts. The hike to the Cape of Good Hope is optional (you can have the bus drive you down) but highly recommended.

The most convenient and inexpensive way to visit Cape Point and Penguins at Boulder's Beach. The drive to the Cape is interesting and there is plenty of time to see everything at the Cape, have food at the restaurant and take an optional hike down to the Cape of Good Hope.

Be advised that this incredibly scenic hike starts out very gentle on poorly maintained boardwalks. Trail deteriorates when the boardwalk ends. There is substantial sections of no trail requiring scrambling over boulders. As you head down (a steep portion of trail) toward the Cape of Good Hope parking lot other climbers will be coming up the narrow trail. There were sections where it was very difficult for people heading in different directions to safely pass. The park department should make this a one-way trail.

The time at the penguins was more than adequate. There were lots of penguins and easy to see from the viewing platform. There is a walk on a city street, from the bus parking lot to the penguins but everyone seemed to not have any difficulty.

I found the HOHO buses to be immaculately clean, everything in excellent repair. All staff I encountered, both at Waterfront office and on buses, to be pleasant, friendly, incredibly patient and helpful.

Absolutely fabulous trip. Patrick was amazing providing interesting and oftentimes very amusing updates. Everything ran so smoothly with clear updates. Walk from Cape Point to Cape of Good Hope was really good though ensure-you fit enough for some scrambling up & down. Jake & driver great too. So friendly. Highlight of trip to Capetown.

What also single out City Sightseeing too is their excellent service. We were due to go on this trip day before but due to foggy weather and port closed, the ship could not dock for 4 hours so was at anchor in bay. This meant we would miss bus and no way to catch up at subsequent stops as midday before fog cleared to let ship dock. This was totally outside of our control. Wendy in City Sightseeing was so so kind and helpful getting us booked on same trip following day. Fabulous service. Thank you all so so much for a great day. We will be back!

The tour was a wonderful experience! The bus was on time and the tour guide, Charles, was extremely accommodating. As the tour bus exited the city bowl and moved through Muizenberg, Charles entertained and educated us with his beautifully told stories and games. Seeing penguins free and in their natural habitat was a sight to behold and the restaurant at Boulders Beach served amazing food. The drive through Simon's Town was scenic and seeing the Cape of Good Hope was a life-changing experience. The entire park is covered in Fynbos which is a sight in itself but the expanse of ocean visible from the highest point is immense. The drive back was through Kommetjie, so much of the Cape can actually be seen on this trip. I would definitely recommend this trip to anyone wishing to see and learn an incredible amount in one day.

This tour is overpriced and the Boulder Beach tickets arent for the beach.

When you get on the bus you are told you need to buy tickets to BB. Fine, but what you actualy buy are tickets to a viewing platform at a visitor centre not the actual BB. For this you walk past the visitor centre on a wooden pathway and pay another 178R where you can walk on the beach and get much closer to the penguins than those on the wooden viewing platform. Why anybody would go there is beyond me, perhaps like me they didnt know so hopefully this helps future visitors.

There is one restaurant but you need to go to eat at 11.45 so either dont have breakfast or simply bring food to eat when you fancy it

Also, the coach had the heating on. When i asked if this could be turned off i was told it couldnt be. I wouldnt mind but mid 20s you dont need the heating on a coach and the metal case got hot which if touched would hurt.

Thank you for your review, which factually is sadly not 100% correct. We pride ourselves at our credibility and so I feel obliged to deal with your comments as follows: 1) The tour is overpriced? Based on what? If you research this a bit you may also find that its about 50% cheaper than any other Cape Point tour. Our basic tour without entry is currently R 439 online. I challenge you to find a cheaper tour online. 2) The National Park Boulders ticket we sell on the bus is for International visitors and costs EXACTLY the same as at the Boulders beach gate. R 170 per adult - youre welcome to check our ticket machines. We encourage International visitors to purchase these on the bus so they can fast track past the entry point which usually has a queue of folks purchasing tickets and since Covid, National Parks only operate 1 cashier. South African citizens and members of the SADC community can get cheaper tickets IF they buy directly from the cashier at the gate by standing in the line, and we tell our passengers the same, as you need to produce photo ID or Passport to get cheaper tickets (these are National Park rules - not ours) 3) As for the 2 separate Boulders entrances. The same ticket is valid at both entrances. All you would have needed to do was the present your ticket and they would have allowed you in without any fuss or having to pay again! 4) We arrive at Boulders beach at about 11h45 and most visitors visit the penguins first and then have lunch afterwards (starting lunch at about 12h45) so not sure why you went to lunch first? 5) As regards the coach heating, I will ask my team but heaters and can be switched on and off easily so there is no good reason why the driver could not switch it off? Sad that you had less than a 5* experience with us, perhaps listening to the guide may have overcome some of these issues on the day and resulted in a more enjoyable experience for you

I booked an organised tour and met up with the tour minibus at the V&A waterfront. Was met by Charles the tour guide who followed all covid protocols to ensure all of the passengers were all safe.
Charles was very friendly and knowledgeable, sharing facts and personal stories on our journey and keeping things interesting and interactive during the trip by having quizzes
Whilst driving through Fish Hoek we saw a whale and stopped to view. The African Penguin sanctuary was very interesting. Charles shared some penguin facts before we went in and then let us tour in our own time
There was an optional lunch at the local restaurant, but I chose to walk back into Simonstown and view the historic naval base instead
It was a beautiful day at Cape Point. We were given sufficient time to explore before having the option of a group hike to the Cape of Good Hope (or a drive down)
We saw lizards, Ostrich and Eland in the nature reserve with some fantastic views of the coast.
Highly recommended for a very reasonably priced day trip with an experienced friendly guide. Even though I had visited all of the sites previously, it was an enjoyable and educating day tour

This wasn't five stars. It was six. All because of the guide/driver, Brahm (I hope I am spelling his name correctly!). The tour took off promptly at 9:30 and from the start to the end, Brahm offered the most insightful commentary. One of the most knowledgeable and funny guides I've ever experienced. The sights were incredible, too. Weather was amazing and we saw hundreds of penguins at Boulder Beach. Brahm took us to a nice and affordable restaurant for lunch before heading to Cape Point National Park, where we spent a few more hours hiking and reaching Cape of Good Hope. Absolutely worth your while to book this trip, with the hope that Brahm will be your guide. An unforgettable day.

Tip one, you must purchase the access to the park as well as the bus fare, this is not optional, so add this to the basic fare. Having said that, the day was well worth all the money.
Tip two, opt for the left hand side of the bus, there seemed to be most of the action on that side. Sit upstairs, most views are long ones.
Tip three, if you have seen penguins before, stick to the free beach as there were a lot of them here. There was no access on the beach in the paid area as the penguins were moulting so you had to stick to a boardwalk.
Tip three, don't take food with you, the baboons are very quick to take anything tasty.

The team were very professional, Brahm was a great guide and explained everything clearly with humour. Jade did all the admin and helped everyone with pictures at Cape Point along with the driver, Friday.
A truly memorable day, highly recommended.
