- Drake A0 contributionsA great safari trip! This was an incredible experience. Our guide, Paul, was so knowledgeable about the area, and constantly shared unique facts throughout the trip. He checked in often, made many jokes, and really brought South Africa's history and agriculture to life. The safaris, which took place at Buffelsdrift and Botlierskop game reservers, were excellent. We saw a lot of the big 5 for both safaris, and even though it poured down rain on the 2nd safari, we still got many up close and personal encounters with giraffes, buffalos, zebras, and more! The accommodations (we chose the 3 star) at Oakdene was great, and was well placed around a bunch of wonderful restaurants (had a 5 star meal at Jemima's!), and our hosts were stellar. This was, by far, one of the best experiences we could have had, and thats even when we were soaked for most of our 2nd safari! Highly recommend this trip to anyone!Written 14 March 2025
- sofier7730 contributionsAn incredible trip!An amazing and unforgettable experience! Our tour guide Mr Nev made the trip even better thanks to his enthusiasm and the interesting stories during the journey. I would definitely recommend this trip if you have limited time but still want a versatile wildlife experience!Written 13 March 2025
- mandisa720 contributionsDo yourself a favour and say yes!Was a last minute decision and best thing I did. Mr Nev our tour guide was so fantastic, gave such a great history of the are we drove through! Day one the elephant observation was one of the most incredible experiences, (extra cost), we stay at a beautiful b&b in Oudsthoorn and the next day safari was incredible. If you are short on time this captures so much. Again thank you to Mr Nev and the Hotspots for amazing trip!Written 13 March 2025
- Dillon R0 contributionsA great safari experience along the Garden routeA perfect addition for our South Africa honeymoon. Great value. I think about as good as we could have with this option, as we were not able to make it out to Kruger. Our tour guide Jose was phenomenal guide teaching us about our stretch of the Garden route and even went above and beyond honeymoon recommendations for our stay in Stellenbosch. Flexible pick up and drop off was also extremely convenient as we did not rent a car this trip. The 3 star accommodation exceeded our expectations. Would recommend trying ostrich at the local restaurant. The game lodges were great. I would recommend opting for the Elephant experience if that’s up your alley. Thank you Jose, Hotspots2C, and our safari guides Prime and others for the great experience. Hotspots2C even gave us a very generous honeymoon gift for the special occasion of which we are very appreciative.Written 12 March 2025
- E6809OElaureng0 contributionsExcellent animal focused tourThis was a fantastic 2 day tour, well paced, knowledgeable guide. We were able to see so many animals up close and I made some memories that will last a lifetime. Highly recommend, especially if you have time and budget constraints, it's a great way to get a 'safari' experience if you can't go to the national parks. Very accessible from Cape Town. Also, great communication from the team, shout out to Tammy who was super helpful and went out of her way to support the booking process.Written 9 March 2025

I honestly cannot rank anything under 5 stars ! Our tour guide Dylan was more like a best friend always singing, dancing, honest, funny and caring making sure we are okay and having fun. The hostels we were provided were stunning and spacious enough for all 10 of us and had a variety of options for breakfast however we did have to pay for our own lunch and dinner. The best activity personally on the tour was the elephant walk and one I’d recommend if you are ever in Cape Town. Thank you for all the hospitality and experiences !

Fantastic trip with beautiful views and experiences. A lot of travelling and this tour is packed but if you are lucky enough to have Mr Nev you are in for a treat and the journey will feel like an experience also, he is THE BEST tour guide. How one man can drive a bus and provide so much information and laughter and personalisation is out of this world, a credit to any employer.

This tour was great! My guide Dylan was so fun and kept our groups energy levels up the whole time. I am so glad he did not let me chicken out of the bungee jump ( do it- it’s worth it). On a more serious note, I’m a recurring solo female traveler and I was really happy to have been able to explore some parts South Africa in such a safe and efficient manner. I had a lot of incredible firsts on this trip including the kayaking and bungee jump and truly recommend it to anyone.

What a fantastic adventure!!

Huge respect for conquering the bungee jump—sometimes all we need is a little encouragement, and it sounds like guide Dylan was the perfect motivator.

We waited for over an hour for two guests who weren’t ready because the company instructed the driver to hold back the other 10 guests to wait for the two late guests.
This made us late for the day’s events. It also created an atmosphere where the other guests would make inconsiderate demands like requesting unique drop offs and pick ups at various times and places rather than stick to the itinerary of the trip.
Price does not include the majority of activities. After being taken to various activity locations- still need to pay to participate.
Price is primarily for the days of driving around and staying at a hostel. Might be more cost effective and time efficient to organize your own trip with friends/family rather than rely on this service.

Hi George, thanks for sharing your feedback. We appreciate your insights and are sorry to hear about your experience of your tour. We apologise for any inconvenience or confusion caused by your attempted last-minute cancellation. The booking terms agreed to for this tour does not allow refunds for last minute cancellations.
Our group tours usually include a free pickup/drop-off service designed for convenience and safety, following a route that accommodates all travellers’ locations within our free pickup area from Cape Town city centre and Stellenbosch region. This can sometimes result in varying pickup spots and a longer waiting time to start the tour journey from Cape Town. Pickup times vary from about 6am to 8am. In your case, the guide also did buy a round of coffee along the transfer route to help make the waiting time shorter. Our operations manager do actively use the vehicle's satellite tracking to monitor pickup and waiting times on tour. We encourage travellers to communicate their specific preferred pickup locations in advance to optimize each tour's transfer route, as this is always different. Instead of having a specific pickup point - free hotel pickup and waiting at your accommodation during this collection transfer period adds an extra advantage of security.
We also understand that traveling in a group can present challenges, especially when the group's preferences vary. Our tour guides focus on fostering inclusivity - aiming to make everyone feel welcomed and valued throughout the journey. We regret that this wasn't fully realised during your trip.
Regarding the activities, we want confirm that our tours do outline included and excluded activities online, and also on the confirmed voucher via email after purchase. Optional activities on tour are designed to enhance your experience, but they are never compulsory. This offers flexibility to accommodate different interests – and if you are not participating in a specific optional activity (eg. Bungy Jumping) - there is always an alternative on the schedule to do too.
You have chosen the more expensive comfort stay tour package and your did overnight in upgraded ensuite standard rooms. We do offer a dorm or backpacker hostel saver stay package for budget conscious travellers too. We are sorry to hear that you feel the tour rate your paid did not live up to expectation.
Once again, we appreciate your feedback and this case will be studied in weekly product and customer satisfaction meeting to improve future tours. If you have any further concerns or suggestions - please don't hesitate to reach out to us directly too.
Thanks for touring with us; a portion of your trip fee was donated to 2Cchange and the conservation charity projects it supports.

First things first, our guide, Nev, was amazing. He was knowledgeable, funny, a careful driver, and tried his best to accomodate us and have us see many beautiful landscapes across the route. He also took us to a place with great coffee. Extra kudos cause I am a good coffee addict. The three days were packed with activities. Special highlights where the elephant sanctuary and the Safari of course. Some activities were more for the summer so they could have been substitute (E.g to stay near the beach, it was freezing cold in the winter). The cayak also was not enjoyable in this cold weather. The first place we stayed was fantastic (especially being a dorm. The owners have done a fantastic job). The second one near the beach was not great. Too cold, the shower was broken and the beds didn’t have privacy. The Safari was excellent as was the elephant tour and both the guides were amazing. Overall it is a very nice tour but I would suggest considering changing some of the activities to fit winter and also change the second accommodation.

Thank you so much for sharing your detailed experience!
We're delighted to hear that guide Nev made your trip so enjoyable—he’s definitely got that perfect mix of knowledge, humor, and a knack for finding great coffee spots (sounds like he knew exactly how to win over a fellow coffee enthusiast!).
We're glad you enjoyed the packed itinerary, especially the elephant observation and safari—those are definitely highlights!
We appreciate your feedback about the winter activities and the second accommodation. We’re always looking for ways to improve, so your suggestions will definitely be taken on board to ensure future winter tours are just as cozy as they are adventurous.
Thanks again for traveling with us, and we hope to see you on another adventure soon with Hotspots2C.

TK was an excellent guide. He was very well informed, friendly, conscientious, and a prompt and safe driver.
The tour was very enjoyable. We saw a lot of wildlife en-route, but not as much on the safari as people expected. The safari guides followed footprints, but could not find the lion nor the elephant making them. It is not a zoo, and the animals are not tame, so this should be expected from time to time.
We were pleasantly surprised by the quality of lodging. It was very nice.

Thank you so much for sharing your experience with us! We are thrilled to hear that guide TK made your 3 Day Garden Route & Safari tour such an enjoyable one with all his expertise and friendly demeanour. While we aim for epic wildlife sightings on safari, nature sometimes has its own plans, and we therefor greatly appreciate your understanding of the unpredictability of wildlife encounters. Happy you got to see lots of wildlife en-route as well.

The tour was great. Everything as promised, met great people and had a lot of fun. Nature and animals were spectacular, of course. I was hugged by elephant trunks, and experienced rhinos, giraffes, zebras, elephants, etc. up close. Even a cheetah that had just torn an animal.
And the time in between was absolutely entertaining and fun with the whole troupe.

I would highly recommend this tour, as it is such a wonderful way to experience the Garden Route and Western Cape if time is of the essence.
The scenery in Western Cape is constantly changing and breath taking and the tour has a great mix of relaxing activities (such as canoeing or safari) and educational ones (cango cave, elephant walk). Our guide, TK was excellent - knowledgeable, attentive and accommodating, going the extra mile for us to have a great experience and leave the tour happier, richer in spirit and relaxed.

We had a great experience on our Garden Route tour, particularly because of our amazing tour guide, Nev!
The itinerary is quite packed as you do drive around quite a bit, so if you are looking for a relaxed weekend this tour might not be ideal for you. But, if you are looking for a few adventurous days, this trip was definitely the highlight of our vacation!
Since we had no car of our own during our stay here, it was great to be able to see a few different areas of the landscape along the garden route this way. The elephant walk was a particular highlight among the activities for us, as it was a really special experience to be this close to these magnificent animals. The only negative thing I would have to say is that the seats in the far back (at least in our bus) were uncomfortable after a while, so people with back pain should probably avoid them.
Nev excelled as a tour guide, providing us with a lot of interesting information all along the way. You can tell that he is very knowledgeable and passionate about his work, as well as very welcoming and accommodating to his guests. I especially appreciate that he made sure to tell us a lot about South Africa’s history, as I find it important for tourists to know.
His personal and warm approach to doing his job is what made this experience extra special for us and will remain in fond memory for this trip! Siyabulela!

His personal and warm approach to doing his job is what made this experience extra special for us and will remain in fond memory for this trip! Siyabulela!

Hi there!
Thank you so much for the 5 Star review and for sharing your experience!
We're super happy that your 3 Day Garden Route + Safari was a highlight of your vacation, and that Guide Nev made it extra special with his passion and knowledge.
We agree, the 3 Day Garden Route joined group tour is indeed an activity-packed adventure at a pace to keep to the itinerary’s schedule. However, for those that prefer a more relaxed route or longer trip over more days, we also offer private tours where there are more time and are also able to customize the trip as you please.
The Elephant Observation is indeed an unforgettable experience, and we're glad you enjoyed it.
Nev will be delighted to hear your kind words. His dedication to sharing South Africa's rich history and his warm approach truly make a difference.
Siyabulela! We can't wait to welcome you on another adventure soon.
Best wishes,
Team Hotspots2C

Hi What time does the tour arrive back into Cape Town on the Sunday? We would need to be at the airport for 3pm for our return flight.

Hi. Drop-off times after each day & after the tour can range from late afternoon to early evening and can vary between ±5pm to ±8pm.
– Please do not make any scheduled arrangements (especially flights) for the first or last day of the tour, as traffic and weather can delay the approximate pick-up and drop-off times. Hotspots2c makes all reasonable effort to keep to the tour’s scheduled timetable, but no liability whatsoever can be accepted for unplanned changes or late arrivals due to factors out of our control.

What can I do if I can just start the trip around 3pm on Friday?? I have my own car,,,
Written 19 August 2019
Hi. This is a scheduled tour that you can join as a passenger, not with your own car. Our tour departs early in the morning. We do make all the arrangements in advance so it is super easy and convenient to simply join our group tour with no need to worry about planning where to sleep or which must-do activities and attractions not to miss. If you can’t join on the Friday, you can also join our mini 2-day Wildlife and Safari tour starting on the Saturday. See you on tour - safe travels.

This tour runs year-round and is not seasonal, so any time of the year should be fine too join.
The Garden Route enjoys a Mediterranean Oceanic climate; naturally temperate and mild all year round. Summers are warm to hot, and winters are cool. Second only to Hawaii, the Garden Route is acclaimed for having one of the mildest climates in the world. See you in paradise soon.

Do you have to book in advance for the various activities, like the caves, elephant walk, canoeing, etc or can one just roll up. We will be there 19 Dec...
Written 3 November 2018
Hi, there is no need to book any optional activities in advance, unless we ask you before your tour - especially during peak season. We pre-book activities for our group tour and you can simply pay on the day if you are interested in partaking in the optional activities scheduled on tour. Looking forward to have you explore the Garden Route with us.
