I highly recommend Gerrie if you are thinking about going to Kruger. We had a truly magical experience at Kruger and a big part of that was down to Gerrie, whose enthusiasm, knowledge and passion for everything Kruger is unparalleled. He ensured we saw everything on our bucket list and he took some wonderful photos for us too.

Gerrie was, without a doubt, the best guide I’ve ever had the pleasure of touring with. His incredible knowledge and genuine passion for wildlife made our two tours an unforgettable experience. From expertly spotting animals to sharing fascinating details about their behavior and habitats, Gerrie made every moment of the safari engaging and memorable. What made the experience even more special were the insightful conversations we had with Gerrie about South African history and life. His understanding of the country’s culture and past added depth to the journey and gave us a greater appreciation for the region. If you’re planning a safari, I couldn’t recommend Gerrie more highly. This was a superb experience, communicative, punctual, and all round gave me comfort that it was a professional operation prior to the trip. The transport was great and you could see so much more from the high position. And with regards to our guide Gary, he was knowledgeable, responsive, very friendly and a pleasure to spend the day with. We saw the big 5 no doubt due to his skills and deep knowledge and understanding of Kruger

Our trip was so wonderful that I don’t even know where to start. Gerrie made us live a very special and unique experience and there isn’t a single moment of our trip with him that we would change. First, the organisation is seamless and perfect. Him and his wife worked very hard to make sure we would feel at home and with the right “tools” (fantastic leopard print blankets for early morning, water bottles, lights, raincoat, …) to enjoy our safari. Second, Gerrie is the most respected and dedicated guide in all Kruger and we understood why: he simply never gives up! From following a Rhino or a Hiena, asking everyone on the parc advice, building the best itinerary based on what you want to see. On top of that he has a very special bond with animals and knows all the families and history of them. Third, he is very friendly and engaged toward Kruger. Gerrie and El are simply beautiful people and spending time with them and listening to their story is a delight. Thank you so much for those 4 days, definitely one of my most wonderful trip.

We had a fantastic half day sunrise safari tour with Gerrie. The early start was more than worth it to see the huge range of wildlife on offer. Gerrie was so informative and knowledgable of the animals and the park, and answered all the questions we had. He did his utmost to find the animals we wanted to see, and gave us recommendations for our next safari. We saw lions, giraffes, buffalo, elephants and a variety of beautiful birds to name a few. We thoroughly enjoyed our half day private safari experience. Well worth the early rise to see the different animals in this beautiful park. The communication and directions from Gerrie prior to safari made the trip easy and our guide for the morning was informative, helpful and well suited to our family. Our 14 year old son had many questions to which our guide engaged with, while actively searching and using his knowledge of the park to find the animals we wished to see. The was super awesome. All people in our group it was their 1st game drive, to make it even more awesome, we saw all big 5. Our tour guide Rufus was like an encyclopedia, he knew and taught us a lot. Big upset Kruger Gateway Safaris. It was indeed a blessing knowing the company.

It may not be necessary to add another 5-star review here, but it’s certainly well deserved. We had a sunset safari on our first day and two full days with Gerrie. He also organized our transportation to Johannesburg. He truly cares about your wish list, but also adds some really interesting and unexpected about the flora as well. He is very patient and doesn’t give up, even when you do not see the “obvious”. We’ve traveled the 7 continents and over 60 countries, so we know the difference between an okay, good and exceptional guide. Gerrie is one of the few exceptional ones who truly cares, isn’t bored with the job, and proudly educates you. He has the knowledge, English proficiency and attitude you need for a great safari. Its a long way to get here, not cheap, so get the best guide available for your trip.

I was looking for a great experience and great photo opportunities when I sighed up for a 5 day safari with the highly rated Kruger Gateway Safaris. My trip with Gerrie far exceeded my expectation. He has an incredible sense of where to find the best animals and get into position for some wonderful head shots photos. In addition, Gerrie is such a great person to spend time with. The best for a family trip! Highly recommend Kruger Gateway Safaris. This is now an annual trip that we book with Gerrie. Third year and as exiting as the first time. Gerrie is so knowledgeable and the kids just love doing a trip with him. Will most definitely book again next year for our Kruger holiday!

We spent a wonderful half day with Keegan mainly looking at the vast number of different species of birds to be found in the area around Skukuza camp. For anyone who wants to see more of the abundant bird life and other smaller species in Kruger, Keegan is simply excellent.

We booked a Day out in the Park with our family on the 18th May 2024. Our guide was the Awesome host and guide Gerry.With his very first question to us being what was on our to see whishlist, he made every effort to tick off the list through out the day.He was amazing with our grandchildren, even better with the adults. Gerries knowledge of the Kruger Park, the animals, birds and local history was extensive as he kept conversations flowing. Gerrie is the best ! the experience was remarkable, we are a group of 9 people & we did a whole day self drive safari too to see the difference between Kruger gateway private safari & with our own car inside the park but the difference is very obvious and he just gave an out of the world experience , Gerrie knows his job , I would recommend to converse with him and get to know more about the flora and fauna of the park as he loves to share his knowledge , he is very communicative ,we loved the way he engages with children , the drives were never boring & we spotted all big 5 in just 2 game drives & spotted interesting birds on the way , i highly recommend Gerrie - Kruger gateway safari , you don’t have to think twice and just go ahead with your booking with Gerrie

We had the most amazing journey with Gerry exploring the Kruger park! It was such an unbelievable experience, Gerry picked us up from Jobourg, facilitated the whole trip, and gave a 200% attention to every small detail; From the accommodation, throughout the vehicle, journey, and safari itself - Gerry (and his lovely wife as well!) made sure we are the most comfortable during this trip, communicated with lots of patience to every small question we had, and was very prompt and professional, to give us the most unforgettable trip. Don't expect the same luck: but it is undeniable that Gerry knows the park and it's ways (and the animals ways) so well, that we saw all magnificent seven in one day! This safari with Gerrie was the highlight of our SA vacation. We did the Half Day trip. Gerrie was right on time pre-dawn at our doorstep at the resort and whisked us away to the Phabeni Gate entrance of Kruger. What followed was 7 hrs of incredible viewings! Gerrie is very knowledgeable about the flora & fauna in the area and kept us informed throughout the safari. And we saw the most amazing sights: leopard hunting and devouring an antelope about 10 feet away from our vehicle, group of endangered wild dogs feasting on a carcass only to have it stolen by hyena, lions, elephants, giraffe, rhino, buffalo, zebra, hippo, an ostrich(!) and much much more. Check attached pics! Gerrie knew exactly where to take us, sometimes off the beaten path and it paid off! It was the most fantastic day and we thank Gerrie and Kruger Gateway Safaris for making it happen!
