Even the weather couldn’t ruin an amazing experience
This was our first trip to Kruger and one we will never forget, the rain when we were being transported to Kruger at 5am in the morning was biblical. Our guide for the day, Remember , had to drive in some very challenging conditions but he did a magnificent job..
We saw 4 of the Big 5, the leopard is proving to be very elusive. Our journey was curtailed due to flooding closing some of the bridges . Our guide had to take a 60 km detour because of road closures and there was no complaints as we had additional time time to stop and view animals.
My only criticism is not about our tour, it is that self drives should be limited or banned within the beauty of Kruger as it is in danger of being a car park for people who are also unaware of the etiquette when approaching animals.
The guides are the experts and they should be responsible for all visitors to this stunning location.
My last comment is that when visiting any safari park , the birds and smaller animals are as enjoyable to view as much as the Big 5 or “Ugly 5”
Nature is a visual spectacle when left to its own devices.

Thank you for your feedback, it is always much appreciated. The rains were certainly epic and created immense challenges for all. We love to hear that there are still people who can appreciated the finer/smaller aspects of Kruger. Our mottos is, and always will be, "It's not just about the Big 5". Remember is a fantastic guide and he clearly navigated his way through the flooded areas successfully. Hopefully you will return to Kruger again in the future.

Excellent experience with an expert guide
We had a great tour with our guide Trevor yesterday. We saw the big 5 and a lot more animals (like the rare wild dog). Excellent experience! Shuttle service from the lodge included. Ad it began raising really heavily on the way back, we even changed cars to get more comfortable (out of the more open jeep to a normal closed car).

Unbelievable experience!
Top-notch experience! Our guide Trever was outstanding! He found us the Big 5 before breakfast! We saw lions, leopards, Cape buffalo, a rhino, elephant, cheetah, impala, kudu, zebras, wildebeest, hyenas, hippos, African fish eagle, warthogs, giraffes and I’m sure others I’m forgetting. Trever was very entertaining but professional and knew all the places to find animals. We highly recommend Elephant Herd Safaris!

Thank you for the review. We wish we could clone Trevor. He is an asset to our company with his knowledge of the African bushveld and animal behavior, not to mention his amazing sense of humour and a contagious smile, even at 04h30 when he fetches vehicles to collet guests for the days safaris

We used Safari bookings (chap named Sam took us). It was epic. THE best safari/ tour we have ever done. We were on honeymoon here (the perfect destination, has everything!) and the full day tour was incredible, the guide was so knowledgeable and passionate, we saw the Big 5 (several times!) had some very special moments inc a Leopard up a tree with a kill, and a lion kill of a giraffe...! Everyone is freindly, polite, and cant do enough for you. The tour lasted longer than we booked we were so grateful! Thank you Safari Bookings!

Amazing experience

From start to finish it was one of the best days of my life. Our driver/guide Trevor was very informative know where to look for the big five. We managed to see four.
My high light of the day was seeing a lion approx a road width away just sitting majestically. Would highly recommend as our vehicle only had five of us in it which made it more spacious and enjoyable. We made two scheduled stops, for breakfast and lunch. Picked up and dropped back to our accommodation.

We had a great time driving with Raymond. He was very experienced (having being a guide since the 1980s) and knew where to go and find things. In just one day we saw so many animals. Elephants, Lions, Hyenas, Rhinos, Hippos, Giraffes, Water Buffalo, Wildebeests... the list goes on.

I cannot describe how awesome this place is.
What can I say. Marvelous, wonderful, fantastic, beautiful and any other superlatives you can think of. We saw hyena, elephant, giraffe, impala, kudu, zebra, eagle, hippo, bushpig, lion, crocodile, spoonbill, hornbill, baboon, vervet monkey, buffalo, sundry small mammals and numerous inidentifiable birds. It was possibly one of the best days I have ever had. Don't come to South Africa and not go to Kruger, you will regret it.

Perfect safari experience

We booked both a sunset and a full day safari with Elephant’s Herd. Our communication upfront with Brandon was perfect: very clear as to what to expect and we received replies within a day at the latest. We also informed him that we did not have a very extensive budget and they advised the perfect internery for us, including self-drives. They really gave us the feeling they wanted the best experience for us and not trying to get us to book the most expensive trips if that was not what we needed.

On the evening of our Sunset tour, we were picked up at our accomodation after which we received water and blankets as it can become cold. We had a nice talk with our driver on the way to and from Kruger Park and he turned out to be our driver for the next day as well. He was very friendly, gave lots of Information and tried to show us as much as he could possibly do. After our safari, he even gave us advice for a self-drive safari and notified us about unexpected closure of the Paul Kruger Gate.

We would advise anyone travelling to Kruger Park to book with Elephant’s Herd! It was the perfect experience for us!

We had a full day Safari with Keegan this month - it was fab. We have done safaris before but this time found Keegan much more informative than past guides had been.
We saw a large variety of animals and birds and he was able to answer all our questions.
He went out of his way to search for the wild life that we mentioned we hadn’t seen and he did find a leopard !!!

Great Time!
Brendon, the owner of the company, helped to organize my entire trip to Kruger. His answer to emails were prompt, he reviewed my accommodation before I booked, and he even found me the most affordable transport from Johannesburg to Hazyview. That is excellent customer service. Brendon also picked me up, personally, before 5am to assure we didn't lose time on our game drive having to pick up customers in another part of town.

Keegan was our guide. He was an absolute pleasure, and I cannot express how integral he was to making my trip to South Africa, a complete success! He is very well informed, and answered all of our questions without hesitation. He truly knows what he is talking about, and you can see his passion for nature and all that he does. Keegan made sure we were happy with out photos & sightings before he left any one spot. He was on a mission to find us the animals we wanted to see. Keegan was easy-going and fun. The day was full of surprises, and our group was awesome. (Probably the best) We all made friends and had a phenomenal day! I was lucky enough to have Keegan for 2 more game drives, and he did not disappoint.

Elephant Herds offered more than I could have hoped for my first African Safari. If you want a great day in Kruger, be sure to ask for Keegan.
