- ericcL9182WO0 contributionsGreat Tour on a Rainy Afternoon with Big SwigHad a wonderful tour with Brian on a rainy afternoon in Anchorage in early August. Brian was very informative throughout the day at all three stops. Met some remarkable owners / managers at the craft breweries. Not a big fan of IPAs but that Alaskan glacier water makes quite the difference. On our return trip to Alaska in 2026, we will definitely take the Seward "Big Swig Tour". - 748elises0 contributionsWay better than a bus transfer! Incredible memories made!Bryan picked us up at the Seward cruise terminal and transferred us to our AirBnB in downtown Anchorage. It was late in cruise season so ended up just being 4 of us which made this an even more amazing, intimate experience. I cannot say enough about what an incredible experience this tour was. To even call it a tour seems inaccurate since it felt more like we were picked up by an old friend that we hadn’t seen in a while who wanted to show us the best of Alaska. I highly, highly, highly recommend this as an alternative to a simple bus transfer to Anchorage. The initial 2 hour drive through “postcard Alaska” was breathtaking and Bryan shared a ton of information about the area, including the earthquake that altered the area topography in amazing ways. The tram to the top of Alyeska was stunning and lunch was tasty among such a gorgeous backdrop. The first brewery in Girdwood was by far our group’s favorite stop. Every beer was delicious, our host, Jake, was fun and knowledgeable, and they made us feel like family. We could have stayed all day. The second stop at the Anchorage Distillery was super informative, the staff very friendly and the cocktail was superb. We ended at Double Shovel and could not have asked for a better ending to the trip. We were met with a gorgeous day sitting in the open air tasting room and sipping on the tastiest ciders I’ve ever had. They’re truly masters of their craft with a cider for every taste. Throughout all of this I cannot stress enough Bryan’s professionalism, kindness, and depth of knowledge about Alaska. You can tell he takes immense pride in what he does and that he’s forged deep and meaningful relationships with the vendors on the tour. If cost is making you hesitate, I will say that this was worth every penny and more. Don’t hesitate and book today!!Written 14 September 2024
- leslieb460 contributionsFun TourSuch a fun tour! Bryan is a great host and selected three "away from downtown" breweries. Great tour at King St, Excellent charcuterie board at MIdnight Sun , great tastes at Cynosure. It was wonderful to have recommendations for samples, but also freedom to try other pours.Written 9 September 2024
- paulgD5676QO0 contributionsA+++One of my best brewery experiences ever, and I’ve done many brewery tours. Bryan took us away from the tourist trap downtown breweries to the neighbourhood ones. Each had a personalized experience. And most importantly, the beers tasted great! Highly recommend to any beer lover visiting Anchorage.Written 8 August 2024
- Jen M0 contributionsPhenomenal TourThis was by far the best brewery tour we’ve been on. Phenomenal mix of breweries 10/10 on the quality of each stop. We really appreciate the local history as well.Written 6 July 2024
- louisefJ1180RJ0 contributionsA Must Do!This is my third Big Swig Tour. I keep coming back because the owner / tour guide is just an amazing guy taking us to amazing places with amazing beer. The customer service level is through the roof and I will continue to return every time I'm in Anchorage. Great job!Written 29 June 2024
- DennisF10980 contributionsAmazing beer adventureWe absolutely love this tour! As repeat customers already, we will definitely be back again. If you like craft beer you can't go wrong with Big Swig. The tour operator has the background and information that allows him to provide detailed information on each brewery and beers. It's a unique opportunity to chat one on one with the actual brewers at the breweries in which they craft such fine products. I simply can't rate this tour company high enough.Written 27 June 2024
- stevenb80 contributionsOutstanding brewery tours with unexpected in-depth experiences.Bryan led us around to 3 breweries and really gave us a great appreciation for the local brewing scene with in-depth experiences from big to small brew houses. Beer tastings were plentiful and well geared to individual tastes. I've already recommended this tour and the places we visited to others.Written 11 June 2024

- kylem8400 contributionsLocally Focused, Very Fun Beer TourBryan was so nice and waited for us when we were running a tad bit behind schedule. My wife and I had so much fun. We went to King Street, Midnight Sun, and Cynosure to sample beers. We even had a small charcuterie board at Midnight Sun. Bryan is a fantastic person who is very personable, upbeat, and knows so much about beer and the local scene! We appreciated that it had a local focus instead of hitting the big tourist draws. Getting the chance to talk with Lead Brewers and owners make for a step above the typical bar crawl. We had a fantastic time and really do recommend Bryan and his tours to anyone in town.Written 2 June 2024
- SparkleBaby560 contributionsDON'T MISS!Don't miss the chance to learn about brewing and local history, fabulous conversation and TERRIFIC beer on this tour! Bryan went above and beyond to ensure we had a memorable experience - HIGHLY RECOMMEND!Written 19 February 2024
- neilsJ7881VI0 contributionsBook your tour alreadyWe had a great time. Bryan was awesome and informative. If you like beer, I recommend it, you will not be disappointed. The tour at King St. brewery was one of the more in-depth tours I have had, and they had a really good cherry sour and other great beers as well. We had an amazing charcuterie board at Midnight Sun Brewery and the beer was funny and delicious. At Cynosure Brewing, they had a fantastic Bitter that I wish we could have sent home.Written 1 September 2023
- TrailBlazer7122310 contributionsGreat tour and great beer! The tour was really fun and the price was great given it was a 4 hour tour, all transportation included, along with lots of beer, and a charcuterie board midway though. Bryan and all the brewers shared tons of info along the way. Definitely recommend this tour - and will go back to the 3 breweries to enjoy their tasting rooms!Written 19 August 2023
- ranem20230 contributionsCan't Miss In AnchorageHad a great time. The beer is great and varied you get to sample the ones you personally are interested in. You also get to talk to some very knowledgeable and fun people in the business and see the actual production area. Tour guide is extremely knowledgeable and takes care of his customers. Van is big and comfy. It seats 15 and we had 6, so experience may differ slightly in bigger groups, but i think our size was normal. I would highly recommend.Written 14 August 2023
- Chris P0 contributionsBeer me! 10 out of 10 Experience. This was a fantastic experience and if you are a beer lover don’t miss it. Our guide, Brian picked us up at the hotel and it ended up being a private tour for just the two of us. Brian is very nice and really knows his beer. We went to King Street, Midnight Sun and Cynosure Breweries. At King Street we actually spent close to an hour talking to the owner Shane. We also met and had a beer with the couple that owned Cynosure, Clark & Cindy. I had a LOT of beer and got a little drunk. It was so much fun.Written 7 August 2023

Bryan was amazing. We have been on many brewery tours, this one was the best. If you are staying in anchorage after your cruise and don't want to be herded around with hundreds on trains and buses, this is the tour for you. Educational, fun, relaxing, and tasty. What more could you want. Bryan even dropped us at the house of our Turo car rental. That is the above and beyond customer service you always appreciate.

Looking for a phenomenal day with a personable, knowledgeable guide and a different flavor, you can’t beat Big Swig. We lucked out and the four of us had Brian to ourselves. The van looked like he drove it from the showroom floor to pick us up at the port in Whittier, Alaska. For the rest of the day, he drove us first to lunch at the ski lodge at Alyeska in Girdwood then to Girdwood Brewing Company for great locally crafted beers and lots of stories. We wrapped up with a stop at the must go to Anchorage Distillery that included a fascinating tour of the facility. Brian shared a wealth of information about Alaska during the drive. Finally, we had to deviate from our planned schedule a bit, which was no problem for Brian when he took us to the rental car location. All in all, it was a great experience which we highly recommend.
