Always part of our Costa Rica trip
We have been to Manual Antonio area three times and every time we go, we take the sunset catamaran trip. The crew is amazing, the trip is just the right amount of time, food is great, snorkeling is fun and the sunset views can't be beat! Always a great time and we highly recommend it!

        Beautiful views of the coastline!
A wonderful trip along the Manuel Antonio coast. Beautiful views and friendly staff. The snorkeling was very fun and we saw quite a few tropical fish. Would definitely recommend!

        Sunset cruise
Because of the Covid restrictions only a few couples were on board. This actually worked in our favour as the crew had plenty of time for us. The fish dinner was wonderful and very fresh. The drinks or plentiful and cold,But beer is available for purchase only, unless you bring it with you. There is a small shop in the marina where you can buy beer and wine to takeaway.

        Perfect Sunset trip
I’ll be honest - I was at first worried that four hours at sea may be too long but I was wrong. We spent 1.5 cruising to our snorkeling spot. As someone who has gotten sea sick, I was fine without any pills but it was a little wavy if you are worried. The entire crew was super fun and supplied us with drinks and fruit. Once we arrived at the snorkeling spot they took those who were interested out to see the fish. We opted to stay near the boat and talk to the crew and got an early start to the slide and jumping from the roof. The dinner they served was delicious! Somehow the time passed by so quick and I had a wonderful time. Would recommend! Pura vida!

        Friendly crew & fun sail!
The little bus picked us up from our hotel in the morning. Note - bring your own towel, sunscreen, hat, & shoes you can slip off as you can't wear shoes on the boat. We were on the trimaran morning sail. We had about 20 of us on the boat & we all had a great time! Everyone was kept in supple of fresh drinks - water, juices, sodas, & alcohol. We cruised around for a bit & followed some playful dolphins, then headed around to the snorkel area. The snorkeling wasn't really very good - few fish, lots of people from other boats, & the water wasn't very clear. It was nice water to swim in & our boat had a waterslide! While we were swimming a delicious lunch was being prepared in the boat's galley. Hats off to our chef for preparing grilled fish & roasted veggies in that little space!! It was delicious! We headed slowly back to the dock while we ate & listened to reggae music over the boat's speakers. It was a wonderfully relaxing morning! We think we'll try the sunset cruise next time we're in town!

        Excellent Cruise
The Sunset sail was amazing. From the staff at the office to the crew on the boat were so friendly and helpful. My favorite part was going into the cove so we could watch the Sunset. Thanks so much! You make this a fabulous part of our vacation.

        Birthday Celebration
We came to Costa Rica for a birthday celebration for a friend. The Sunset sail was amazing. From the staff at the office to the crew on the boat were so friendly and helpful. They even had a birthday cake for our friend. The Best part was them going into the cove so we could watch the Sunset. I can't thank you enough for all you did to make this a wonderful part of our vacation.

        Highly recommend this tour company
We are sailors and looked at trying to charter a boat for the afternoon. We were not able to find that as an option and this was the second best thing for us. I did a bunch of research because we wanted to take a sunset sail but didn’t want to be on a huge party boat to nowhere. Our hotel recommended another outfit but after reading reviews, went with Sunset Sail. While we were out sailing, saw the other companies on the water and it confirmed I made the right decision for us. The boat had maybe 35 passengers plus crew. Price included dinner and drinks. $80 per person. Alcoholic drinks included except for beer which was $2. We saw tons of dolphins on our way out which was beautiful. We were on the trimaran and I was able to sit on the bow and hang my feet in the water. They served fresh fish for lunch and fruit. We stopped at a snorkeling spot but the water was pretty choppy so we didn’t see much. They provided all the gear. Don’t forget to bring your own towel and sunscreen! If you get seasick, then consider going earlier in day when water is calmer or ask when you call. The company is family run and the crew were all extremely kind, attentive and knowledgeable. Definitely recommend using them if you want to get out on the water.

        Sunset tour on Trimaran
We've been on this tour every time we come to Costa Rica and it's always fantastic. The crew are all bi-lingual so communication is never a problem. You can be picked up at your hotel or meet at the Sunset Sails office at Marina Pez Vela if you have your own transportation. The trip lasts several hours and scenery is always amazing as well as the drinks they server on board. Much of the trip is spent moving along the coast from Quepos to Manuel Antonio at a slow speed to enjoy the view. Depending on time of the year, you may see dolphins or whales. We went out past the islands off Playa Espadilla in search of dolphins. We saw a few but they were interested in hunting fish and not playing in the bow wave of the boat. There's a stop for snorkeling and swimming in the bay off Playa Biesanz. The boat has a slide to go down or a platform to jump off which are both fun. While we're all off playing in the water, they're cooking up a delicious meal of fish and veggies. This is always one of our favorite things to do when visiting Quepos/Manuel Antonio. We think you'll enjoy it too.

        Amazing Experience!
Sunset Sails had a phenomenal crew that was extremely knowledgeable about the area and very respectful of Costa Rica’s natural resources and wild life. Our captain and crew helped us spot a humpback whale and her calf in the bay, and we were very impressed at how they made sure to give the whales enough space as to not scare them. The crew gave us a lot of detail about the whales migration and breeding- they come up to Costa Rica to give birth in the warmer waters! We had an awesome morning swimming, snorkeling, and using the water slide once we anchored by Beisanz Beach in a cool alcove! The atmosphere on the boat was so relaxing- it was a smaller group of tourists on this boat compared to some of the massive boats that also went out that day through other charter companies. This helped to make our experience so much more personal! The open bar drinks were also fruity and fantastic :) We highly recommend Sunset Sails.

        No sails on the sailboat
Disappointed. I was looking for an authentic sail trip. This boat only has a motor. Snorkeling was non-existent. The crewman threw bait into my face by mistake in an effort to bring a few colorful fish close to the surface. I got a mouthful of the bait. Disgusting. The crew played the stereo so loudly any signs of wildlife quickly retreated. Dinner consisted of an odd presentation of refried bean paste in the shape of a pet’s lawn deposit, fried fish and boiled potatoes. The private tour was very expensive. Cash only.

        Worst tour ever!!
This company is truly awful. I have never wrote a bad review like this but the excursion was a waste of money and they tried to brush off a mix up in booking rather then fix it. They mixed up our reservation and put us on the trimaran instead of the sailboat. When we tried to talked to them they brushed us off and refused to talk to us. The. The cruise was seriously a 15 min ride then we sat in the ocean “looking for wildlife”. No up the coast sail, nothing. Then we went for another 10 min ride to where we snorkeled and sat there for the rest of the time. It was 10 min approx from the dock. You see nothing of the coast and just sit in the water for most of the time. The food was good and plentiful but for the price not worth it. We have done many many snorkel trips and this was by far the most boring and the snorkeling was not that great either. With so many amazing excursions to choose from DO NOT DO THIS ONE. I did try to talk to the staff after and he admitted there was a mix up but then tried to recant after he realized what he had said. Definitely not a Pura Vida type day.....

        Fun Sunset Tour
The Sunset Sails Tour was perfect! The staff was super friendly and knowledgeable about the waters and Costa Rica. The boat was very clean. We had a blast snorkeling. The fish were beautiful. For more fun they had a slide and ramp to jump off of in the back of the boat. The food and non stop drinks were awesome! Can’t wait to come back and do it again! Put Vida

A top notch experience from beginning to end! Staff were knowledgeable and were able to identify many birds and differing landscapes within Manual Antonio Park. The food served at lunch time was amazing and the open bar a plus! Snorkeling, swimming and the water slide were a blast. I would highly recommend!

We've been on the Sunset Sails tour many times over the years (We have a home in Manuel Antonio.) and always enjoyed it, so we try and bring family and friends along with us whenever they visit us. This last time we were lucky enough to see a mother humpback whale and her calf, which was exciting. Also a leisurely cruise around the busy, bustling Quepos/Manuel Antonio area provides a whole new, interesting perspective on it. Also I love being able to more closely observe the crowded, raucous colonies of seabirds that roost in the area. Of course the staff are an important part of a tour like this and the Sunset Sails staff are unfailingly friendly, helpful and hardworking--getting drinks, serving food, and then, when it's time to get in the water, fitting guests with snorkels, fins and masks. Finally, I love that they always accompany the sunset with Izzy's version of "Somewhere Over the Rainbow." A beautiful finale to a beautiful experience.

The sunset tour was great. We got to see dolphins. The transportation pick up and drop off was easy. We ended up going on a smaller boat with less people which we enjoyed.

This was SO FUN! My mom and I went on the morning cruise and it was fantastic. Minor is amazing and made us laugh, but also gave us a lot of great information about the environment around us. We saw tons of birds, fish, an eel, and a starfish! Snorkeling was so fun, as was using the slide into the ocean off the boat. The bottomless drinks were so nice, and the fresh Mahi Mahi was incredible. I highly recommend going!!

I've been on a few catamaran sunset cruises in different Countries and this
Was one of my favorites. The crew was wonderful, the staff was knowlegele and The food and drinks were much better hanI would've imgined.

I also felt comfortable enough to try snorkeling and ocen swimming for the first time. The equipment was provided on board. Lots of beautiful marine life to view in the Bay. There is also a dive platform/waterslide that was a fun adventure if you plan to get in the water. We were lucky enough to see a momma whale and ber calf as they swam, fed and cleaned their flippers. The sunset was wonderful and we were back right on time. would definitley say it was worth the money and tIme.

My family of 16 booked this tour. It’s a few minutes walk in the beach to get to the boat from the hotel. There was large group already waiting to board. The water was very choppy to board. Had to hold the kids tight, as the waves kept moving the ramp.

The sail was nice. Had to get seats like a crazy person as most was already taken and secured by the adults.

Had to put stop to grab more people. Sailed to a small cove to swim along the same coast as the hotel. There was no “white sand” as we were promised. The water was nice and calm, nice green water. Snorkeling and a small cave exploration was offered, which we opted out of because we always do that in Mexico. The swim was a nice relaxing swim with calm waters like Aruba. You are only there for 1/2 hour. Then board the boat again for the slide they take us a little out of the cove to do that. Which most of my family did about 3 times. The slide was really nice.

Food served was not what was told at the purchase of the excursion. My family doesn’t eat pork. They served a chicken and pork mixed rice, chips, pico de gallo, and guacamole. We could only eat the chips, pico de gallo and chips. What we were suppose to be served with rice, beans, chicken, fruit. It was a disappointment. My kids didn’t eat because they didn’t want what was being served.

The sunset was nice. A great experience with my kids and extended family.

Returned at dark of night. Had to walk back to the hotel in the dark. We all had to turn on our phone flash lights to get back to the walkway to the hotel.

Although the sunset was nice. It was a brief stop, rushed to get off and on. Wouldn’t recommend if you want to feel rushed. Paid $120 USD per adult and $50 USD for kids.

Thank you for your review, from what I have read in your review, you went with another tour company and not Sunset Sails Tours, as we serve fresh fish (mahi-mahi) on the boat, rice and vegetable, and we also have chicken or vegan options available for our clients but we never mixed them with rice or give pico de gallo with chips. Pluss our price is $95pp Kids under 3 come for free. And we never rush our clients, we depart at 2:00pm and always let our clients pick theire seats. Pura Vida! Cristian G.

Christmas Day Morning Cruise was the perfect way to start our morning. We had a group of 15, ages 12 to 80 and everyone enjoyed the trip. The staff, captain and their family aboard on Christmas Day incredibly attentive and hospitable. Music lovely noise level, clean and safe! We snorkeled, swam, fun on the slide and a delicious lunch! I would highly recommend this cruise for family and friends!

This trip went beyond my expectations! The crew do a really good job to ensure everyone has a good time. I knew snacks were included but the grilled mahi-mahi dinner was an amazing surprise. We celebrated my oldest sons birthday and there was even a surprise cake for those celebrating. If you go, you will not be disappointed.
