If you’re the sort of foodie who likes to explore off the beaten path, book this tour to Qibao, one of Shanghai’s less-visited water towns and a mecca for local food-lovers. You’ll taste up to eight dishes, including local specialties and Chinese staples, then sip tea in a teahouse. Choose from a morning or afternoon departure time to suit your schedule, and upgrade to include a traditional foot massage.
What to Expect
Greet your guide in People’s Square and board the subway to Qibao Town. Stroll along Old Street, admiring the historic buildings, beautiful stone bridges, and tranquil canals.
The south side of Old Street is known for its street food. Here, your guide will introduce you to up to eight foods. You might try beggar’s chicken, lotus-leaf pork, crab-meat dumplings, Haitang cake, or Qibao specialties like cooked mutton with special sauce. Then continue on to visit a teahouse next to a canal, and savor a cup of Chinese tea.
Upgrade to enjoy a traditional Chinese foot massage before your guide walks you back to the subway station, from where you’ll make your own way home.

Great trip for your long layover

Fantastic tour

Queena took me on a fantastic tour of the ancient town which was much more than just about food. She was an excellent tour guide and explained a great deal about Chinese traditions and culture. Highly recommended.
