- philsax2n0 contributionsGreat tour of MumbaiI totally recommend this tour. I had been many times to Mumbai on business but had never really seen it! Our guide Alam was both knowledgeable and engaging as we went to all the sights of Mumbai. We had a fabulous day and really enjoyed the diversity of the trip from the uniquely Indian laundry to the almost British station. Our driver Suresh was also very knowledgeable and added extra insights during the tour - and was super safe at driving!Written 23 March 2025
- Michelle E0 contributionsTotally recommend this tour. Great insight into Dharavi, walk inside laundry and explanations of LunchboxesJust do it! Totally recommend it. The local guide was from Dharavi and gave us great insight into the community, construction, living and operations. The place was a real eye opener but totally loved it. The laundry tour had us walking around the wash bays, machines and houses. Lunch boxes are a great cultural aspect of Mumbai Movies to now watch - The Lunchbox and of course Slum Dog Millionaire again.Written 11 March 2025

- BillieWalter0 contributionsBAIT AND SWITCH - AMAZE TOURS are unreliable!I booked this trip two months before leaving on vacation and paid for it in advance. The day before I left they emailed me asking me to cancel my reservation. They said that a cruise was in port and that they were very busy and could no longer honor our reservation. When I wrote to tell them that I wanted to keep my reservation, they abruptly cancelled me. BAIR AND SWITCH. Do not use AMAZE TOURS unless you want to get ripped off!Written 5 March 2025
- BillieWalter0 contributionsBUYER BEWARE - BAIT AND SWITCH!We booked this tour more than a month before we left the states. When they realized that we were coming from a cruise ship. they promptly cancelled us. They told us that we would have to take a large group tour with a much higher price or take the cruise tour offered by the ship. BUYER BEWARE - THIS IS A BAIT AND SWITCH. If they can get others to pay more, they will cancel you and take them!!!Written 4 March 2025
- Adventure027736756900 contributionsAn Excellent Walking TourThis was a really interesting walking tour of the three sites. Our guide, Loki, was excellent. He was very informative but also took great care to make sure his clients were safe throughout the tour, particularly when crossing busy streets.Written 4 March 2025
- reenamistry0 contributionsAn excellent adventure through Mumbai by trainWe went on a tour led by Maze, he was very knowledgeable and very punctual, so we didn't miss a beat with the trains. A very fun tour that I'd recommend to adventurous people who are curious about the people of Mumbai!Written 3 March 2025
- julieP9538YU0 contributionsBest tour guide everBest tour guide ever! My friend wanted to buy a sari. He took us to a wedding/sari shop, we were the only non-Indians, no tourists. I wanted to go to the Leopold Cafe, which wasn't on the itinerary. He took us there for lunch. We had a blastWritten 3 March 2025
- TinyTeen890 contributionsHighly recommend group and private toursWe had a great morning visiting Dharavi and Dhobi Ghat on the group tour, both very eye opening and interesting experiences. Loki was a fantastic guide, we also enjoyed going on the train as this is daunting first time on your own, you have to be quick! In the afternoon we took a private trip with Loki again, he is a fountain of knowledge in all things Mumbai, hitting off all the top sightseeing spots. The car was modern, very comfortable with AC and a friendly driver who handled the chaotic Indian roads safely. A lot was packed into the day and great value worth every penny. Loki made sure we had Westernised toilet/ rest room stops and chilled bottled water on hand. He was always very clear and we felt the pace was just right and we were never rushed. Arranging the trip was easy and quick over WhatsApp with easy online payment. Thank you Amaze Tours for a great day, we really enjoyed Mumbai and would be happy to recommend the company :)Written 3 March 2025
- Mary C0 contributionsGreat way to see the main tourist sites of MumbaiMumbai is a bit overwhelming for the uninitiated like our party of 4 so it was really great to be guided around. The tour pretty much took the whole day. We received a very helpful and detailed reminder communication the day before. Pick up and drop off at our hotel went very smoothly. The driver was amazing as the traffic was something else! Our guide was quiet but answered our questions well and modified our itinerary slightly to meet our requests. Would recommend.Written 1 March 2025
- Wanderer2998790 contributionsInsightful tour of Dabbawalla, Dhobi ghat and Dharevi slum with a fun train ride!Such a good tour guide who ensured we had an amazing tour - giving us an insight into the systems the Dabbawalla use for distribution of the lunch boxes. The visit to Dhobhi Ghat - the laundry area was fascinating to see, we loved riding on the local train and it was so eye opening to see how productive everyone in Dharevi slum is and also how proud they are to be living there in harmony with people of different backgrounds. A really amazing tour - thank you!Written 25 February 2025

Add Elephanta to your list of great things to do around Mumbai. There's a relaxing boat trip of about an hour each way to 'get to the island (going with a tour guide can be smart since they get the boat tickets and know which queue to be in and so on). there's a very funny little train ride to the base of the hills once you get there, and then a fairly steep and hot walk up. Plenty of refreshment stops (I had a great lunch on the way back) and stalls selling souvenirs,, I stopped several times to catch my breath and watch the crowds. Finally, the main cave. Cool and dramatic and beautiful. The main carving of the multiple Shiva heads is really something to take in. Pleasant wanderings around to the next cave, but the first one is THE one. Going with a guide helped a lot - Rahil from World of Bollywood Tours made everything clear and easy to get around.

The private tour was conducted by Daivat, a native of the island, who has a passion for Indian history as well as a deep knowledge of the Hindu faith. This meant that he was able to provide not only the historic but also the religious context and significance of the man-made caves and the carvings they contain. The caves are quite breath-taking: understanding how they were carved and seeing the scale and quality of them makes it hard to believe that these were produced with hammer and chisel. The depictions of Shiva and Parvati are simply monumental. An experience I would recommend to everyone, but with a guide and I would recommend Daivat, otherwise you may not fully appreciate all that heavenly glory.

Our guide Krupesh was excellent, native to the island and therefore very knowledgable about the caves themselves and the community that live there. Booked a group tour but ended up being just us which was lovely.
Very punctual with meeting point time and assisted us with getting the boat across, giving us the option of the land train or walking route from the boat drop off. So you wouldn’t have to walk too much if you didn’t want to.
Only criticism would be that food was not included but due to the timings of the tour being 10:30-14:30 and very hot temperature, we didn’t feel we needed food.
Overall amazing tour and would recommend. Krupesh was brilliant!

Lovely way to spend a morning in Mumbai. Guide arrived on time and as a solo traveller I felt included and looked after.
The caves are amazing.
Could have slowed everything down and spent longer there.
Mihind was very knowledgeable about the carvings and the history of the site.

This is yet another must do tour while visiting Mumbai. The tour of the caves was incredible and our tour guide Nitin was excellent, not only giving us great information, but also serving as our photographer to ensure we got the best pictures with the best angles. After the tour of the caves he even showed us around his village and his home, to give us a real view is what life is like for the people of Elephanta Island. A once in a lifetime experience that is highly recommended. Thanks again Nitin!

I didnt know what to expect when we first signed up for this however i was blown away by how much i enjoyed both the tour and Dev our tour guide. As someone who doesnt know much about Hinduism, i learned a lot during the tour. Dev was very good a communication and teaching us the meanings of all the carvings and history. He took very good pictures of us as well. He treated my friend and i well, getting us through the entrances and bathrooms with ease and as women traveling i alone , it is always comforting to have someone who treats us kindly and makes ua feel comfortable.
I would do this again, 100%

Dev was an incredible tour guide. He was really knowledgeable, patient, and a great photographer. He walked us through the meanings of the statues, connections between them all, and helped us get to know the Hindu religion more deeply.
I feel more connected to India after this trip and recommend Dev!

I had a great time in Mumbai thanks to my tour guides - Alam who was responsible for my city tour , was very friendly and shared a lot about the city. I was really happy with his explanation. He was very accommodating with my needs and was checking if I was having a good time the entire tour.
Daivad - who was my elephanta caves tour guide was extremely knowledgeable about the history of the place and his detailed explanation impressed me

We were stoked! David was not only a very good story teller, he was an excellent photographer. We were in awe to know the story of all the valuable statues inside the Elephant Cave. I highly recommend David to be your guide in your visits. Excellent experience.
