    Get inspired by simplicity
It was a great personal experience. First - a guide is a MUST for 2 reasons: 1. You can easily get lost 2. You must hear the story Thinking of slum caused me to fill me pocket with change so I can give to beggars. But reality is so different. This is a city within a city. Fully functional, everybody works and contributes. Actually, without those working hands Mumbai and other parts of India will be affected. If you are looking for proportions, to be inspired by simplicity - you should go there. Tip- you will find few stores that sell bags, leathers and other handmade stuff. No-one will try to urge you - but it is highly recommended to take a look. Same is at the colorful market near by. I bought a hand made leader hand bag from a shop there. The quality is amazing - i shared a photo taken at the store entrance

Dharavi slum tour by Mumbai dream tours
We were recommended to Mumbai dream tours by a friend in London who had just returned. We were collected from our hotel (Taj Mahal Palace) and transported to the slum area where we met our guide Abhishek who explained all the various industries carried out in the “slum”. He changed our view of the slum from a deprived area to a hive of activity where families live for generations working hard to support each other. Abhishek himself had worked in the slum and now is the most excellent tour guide. He had us visiting many small workshops where people worked, slept and brought up their children. It was absolutely incredible. Dharavi is where the film Slumdog millionaire was filmed. Abhishek had us running (well walking carefully) through narrow alley ways, just like in the film. We met people he knew and who showed us what they do on a daily basis. FABULOUS Abhishek - we thoroughly recommend him and the company he works with. Arrangements were clear, they kept us fully informed right up to the moment they arrived to collect us. We were brought back after the tour too by our driver Manu. Many thanks: We highly recommend this tour, Mumbai dream tours And Abhishek Mumbaidreamtours.com

    Amazing village tour
We went on the village tour with Javed. It was a whole day tour from 8 am till approximately 6pm. We went on a Ferry to Mandwa and then a bus to Alibag beach and market. We got to eat Vada Pav, go to the Lotus lake and see women washing their family's clothes, see brick making, go to a local school, have lunch with a village family in their home, visit the tribal village and then see the piranha lake! It was an incredible day and I'm so thankful to have had this opportunity. Our guide, Javed, was amazing, friendly and super informative. Thank you for the wonderful work you do at Reality Tours.

    Best tour I've been on
This tour was incredible from start to finish. Leena was out guide and is so professional, friendly and knowledgeable. Leena travelled with us by train to Dharavi and then took lots of time to show us through the commercial and residential parts of Dharavi. It was so eye opening and I learnt so much. It was great to see how much recycling happens here and see all the skilled/ hard workers in each section of the slum. People were very friendly and lots of children said hello as we walked around. I love what this NGO is doing, by putting 80 percent of the tour cost money back into the community, providing children in Dharavi with better educational options. Thank you so much for this wonderful afternoon, Leena 😊

    A Must Do Experience
Incredible experience - a Must Do experience! Part of travel is seeing how other people live. I had ideas of what a slum was like but they were way off - incredible eye opener. Our guide, Mayur Dixit, spoke English well and answered anything we thought to ask. This is his life. He was enthusiastic about sharing it with us. Our driver, Genash, was amazing. FYI, This tour went much longer than estimated.

Helena and friends in India with Krishna! :)
My Friends and I did a tour around India for 14 days with Krishna! We started in Mumbai, then we headed to Goa for 3 nights. We went to Badami, Hampi & Krishna village in Herunjal where we experienced a really nice and traditional show!! After that we went to South India, Kochi and we finished our tour in Mumbai again! Krishna was absolutely amazing and showed us the REAL INDIA! Food, people, culture were the best and we are looking forward to visit India again!!! :) 🇮🇳

    A must do tour
A must do when you’re in Mumbai . The people here are an inspiration working so hard in cramped conditions to eke out a living . People in the west could learn an invaluable lesson . The guides are fantastic and explain the history as well as the current situation here and show you the amazing jobs people do to earn a living. You can only admire their tenacity and work ethic . Money from the tours goes towards teaching the inhabitants English and IT

Choose Reality Tours to give back to the community
Brilliant tour by our guide Leena - she gave us lots of information about Dharavi and showed us what life is like there for many people. Reality Tours is making a big impact through it's NGO so I'd recommend this tour for anyone that makes to give back to the community alongside learning and experiencing life in the slum. We also had a delicious lunch with a local family - the food was very tasty and there was lots of it!

    Great Street food tour
Terrific street food tour. Was easy to book. We had a wonderful guide and it was so much fun to explore different neighborhoods, sample food and learn about local cuisine. Heard warning about street food and glad I have booked this tour: this food was fresh, delicious and safe. Highly recommended

    Not for foodies
For tourist not traveler. Pros: - you take a train - you ride in a shared local cab - you can eat a lot of snacks Cons: - guide was on their phone for the whole tour - no facts and information was offered - the guide did not seem interested in the tour at all or very knowledgeable about the food we were eating - no customisation - although requested before the tour. - really basic foods that are easy to find and google We paid more for a private custom tour and agreed to focus the tour on non-veg options. What we got was obviously just the standard tour with no consultation about what we wanted. If the guide was to quickly check preferences before ordering on our behalf and it would have been better. In the end this was a very expensive way to eat some snacks we already had and some basic grilled chicken. If you’re really nervous about eating out in Mumbai then MAYBE this is for you. If you’re looking for a foodie tour or are a seasoned traveler avoid this tour.

    Spirit of community
The visit and tour around Dharavi had been the most thought provoking experience and enjoyable tour I had in Mumbai. Leena did a fantastic job in explaining the history, and the current ways of life in the vibrant, working community. The hopes, ambition and drive of the people of Dharavi in the 'City of Dreams' is powerful. Visitors can learn where true strength comes from.

    Insight to a world I don't know
Vasu gave a terrific tour, with lots of great information - from historic background to what we were seeing in front of us. He was very gracious and respectful to everyone we encountered.

We had the most incredible tour of the markets and temples in South Mumbai with Suja and Depak!! We spent 2.5 hours exploring and being told about the history of the area. We even took a little detour to try some street food! They helped me haggle when purchasing some fabric and also helped us at the end when the taxi had no change for us. We (2 women in our 20s) felt completely safe with the two of them and really appreciated the time they spent showing us around and answering our questions. We also love that a portion of the tour cost goes to charity. If you're looking to go on an adventure at low cost in Mumbai, this is the tour for you!

Visiting Mumbai for a few days. Been here before and did all the big tourist attractions then. We wanted to explore more of the local areas and markets this time. This tour did not disappoint! Chetan, our lovely, and very knowledgable young man, took us around the streets, markets and a few temples in the area. He gave us a running commentary on points of interest and areas we passed by. He told us some of the history of Mumbai and was full of facts. He even help me buy a sari for a friend. I am sure if I had gone myself it would have cost a lot more! The tour we just long enough, and at a good pace for us, in our late 50s. Would recommend this to all ages.

Excellent guides for the Markets and Temples tour provided just the right amount of information and were happy to answer our wide range of questions! We were taken to the markets and temples as advertised in the itinerary and to others off the beaten track that we would not have found or been confident to visit without our guides.
Highly recommended.

The tour covered so much and we saw many wonderful things. The tour guide spoke English well and added some personal insights as well. The only complaint is that it should have been longer and slower. We went really quickly through some parts of the market that we would have liked to linger in, but overall, one of the better tours we've taken.

The Market and Temple tour was tons of fun and interesting. Even in the ff and on pouring rain. We stopped to buy some spices and were able to smell them all. I learned so much. The guide was very knowledgeable and communicating before the tour was easy. We took and Uber too and from our hotel, which was also easy. The guide customized our tour because we wanted to skip the animal parts. Highly recommended as a way to deepen your experience in Mumbai. -American Family of Four.

I learnt about Realty Tours through Trip advisor, when somebody reviewing another tour operator wrote:" I should have booked Reality Tours instead..." It is not only about the good prices they offer, but the way they manage the tours, in a direct and uncomplicated way, gives You a feeling that You are among friends and one can feel that the guides really like showing their city to us. It also feels good knowing that there is a contribution to the slum by booking the tours. I have done almost all of the tours by now, except the bike tour. It is hard to choose a favorite because I enjoyed all of them, but I especially liked the ones when we moved around by other means than car, that is the two walking tours (Colaba and markets and temples), the local traffic tour and the street food tour. Although I also liked the night and the half day city tour as well, thanks to the good guiding they provided. Tomorrow i will be doing my last tour, the slum tour withfamily lunch. I am sure it will be as good as the other ones were. I came to Mumbai only to do tourism for over a week's time. And I must say that Reality Tours gave me the best experience of Mumbai I could wish for. I surely will book tours wth them if I come to other places in India. As they say in Hindi: Shiabash, mening well done, Reality Tours!

I have visited Mumbai a few times and wanted the chance to see more without getting lost. I was guided by the knowledgeable Chetan. We saw all kinds of markets, temples and the wonderful cow sanctuary. I would recommend it as a great way to get an insight into south Mumbai.

A really excellent tour hosted by knowledgeable guide with a great sense of humour. It was our first visit to Mumbai ( but not to India) and we really enjoyed being shown the local markets. Being with a guide means that you go to areas that you would not necessarily explore on your own ( indeed you might not necessarily find them!) and you have recourse to their knowledge and experience in being able to engage in conversation with the stall holders that you would not do if you were on your own. If you wish to make a purchase they can help you in recommending a realistic price without necessarily depriving the stall holders of their livelihood. The temple and cow sanctuary were of limited interest to us but an added a certain raison d'être to the tour.

My tour was supposed to contain 6 people, but the group of 5 did not show up, so I was given a private tour. My guide, Bipin, was excellent. He took me through all of the markets, describing everything in interesting detail. He knew the history and significance of each market. His English was excellent. I had mentioned that I was looking for a thali set (for Indian cooking) but that I didn't know where to get one or how much to pay, and he took me to a section in the market where they sold cookware and utensils, and when I saw a set that I liked, he did the negotiating for me in Hindi, getting me an excellent price. I enjoyed the tour very much and would recommend it to anyone coming to Mumbai.

I done one tour in 2020 and it was amazing and I have done two tours in the past week with my parents and they have both been fantastic. Guides are very knowledgeable and make sure you feel like you are in real India. The tours are very organised.

Mumbai city and market tour is fantastic and they take you places you probably would never venture to.

Dharavi Slum Tour was amazing too. Our guide met us at the Churchgate train station in south Mumbai and took us to Dharavi where we met other guides and other people. Our guide was lovely and she very knowledgeable. The company are very respectful of the people within Dharavi with their no camera policy. Fantastic tour all round.

I will definitely do tours in New Delhi too.
