JD’s home was beautiful, his family (and neighbors) super friendly, and now, all other masala chai tastes like water. - W6684KSisabellav0 contributionsFive Senses, One TourHad such an amazing time with JD! Was worried that 48 hours in Delhi wouldn’t be enough to experience it, but he really showed us places we wouldn’t have ventured ourselves. The food was so good, no issues with hygiene (written nearly 24 hours after the tour), a lot of exposure to different religions that you wouldn’t get outside of India, and incredible sights / smells! One tour, all of your senses will be activated, and JD is nothing short of great. He’s friendly, he’s kind, he’s funny, he’s witty, and so easy to talk to. We did 2 other excursions with him, and it felt like a friend showing us around, not a guide. Could not recommend this more!Written 28 November 2024
- Roving161580991110 contributionsThe best one! That was truly amazing. In less than an hour i learned from scratch to prepare a special Indian masala tea, one that all my guests and family now saying is the best tea they tried. - DayTrip125487990950 contributionsGreat time on JD’s Delhi street food tour, exploring Chandni Chowk with tasty food & top-notch safety. Highly recommendMy husband and I recently went on JD’s Delhi street food tour and had an amazing time exploring the city's vibrant food and market scene, while wandering through the historic lanes of Chandni Chowk in Old Delhi. The guide JD is very knowledgeable and we learned a lot about food and cultural practices on a tour (3 pax + guide) where we ate great food and had fun all together. I also appreciated the focus on food safety, as JD ensured we visited trusted and carefully selected vendors who followed proper hygiene practices and high quality ingredients. The tour was both educational and enjoyable, offering a deeper appreciation for Delhi's rich street food culture during which we felt safe and well guided. I highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Delhi!Written 19 November 2024

- akb1239430 contributionsA super interesting and super delicious way to explore Old Delhi, with a personal touch.Loved it! We met JD on another one of his tours - and loved his story-telling, unique insights and character so much that we also booked into his Old Delhi Experience as well. Come hungry as you will be eating all sorts of sweet and savory street foods, without worrying about getting sick. On top of that you visit the Sikh temple, and have a personalized tour of the kitchens. JD has put a lot of thought into the tour route to also share history behind the food and makes sure you are safe and comfortable the whole time.Written 16 November 2024
- 7CherylK70 contributionsA wonderful authentic experienceJD is an excellent host. He has carefully chosen the activities in this experience to reflect the diversity of culture in Delhi. Communication prior to the tour was excellent so we knew exactly where to meet him. We especially liked the thoughtful explanations of each place. The visit to the Sikh Gurdwara was a highlight and you could really feel the spirit of community there. The food along the way was extremely tasty and plentiful and JD has specifically chosen vendors with food safety in mind. He also balances time in the hustle and bustle of the market with quieter places so you can recharge. Highly recommendedWritten 13 November 2024
- Morgan Rachel C0 contributionsExciting and delicious day in Old DelhiJD makes sure you’ll eat delicious food, learn about fascinating temples and get the exhilarating experience of winding through busy Old Delhi sidewalks. Highly recommended!”Written 12 November 2024
- akb1239430 contributionsA truly unique experience with a passionate host, and very chilledAn amazing tour you must make time for when you are in Delhi! We loved meeting JD - super knowledgeable, super passionate and a really nice guy. JD showed us his favorite street art and shared all the stories behind them, including when he met the artists and saw the murals being painted. Halfway through he does a chai stop with his own special recipe which is delicious. Finally a stop at Lodhi gardens. JD also took great pics for us and shared other local tips. A peaceful and unique experience, which really made our Delhi stay special, thanks JD - I hope to see you again soon!”Written 11 November 2024

In short, this was a truly special experience and I would strongly recommend for anyone visiting Delhi. JD is a brilliant teacher and a beautiful person, meeting him and his family was a highlight of my travels in India.
JD and his family welcomed me into their beautiful home with smiles and a cup of their delicious homemade masala chai (best I have ever had!). We sat down to enjoy the chai and chat, it felt more like talking with an old friend than meeting for the first time. Instantly I felt welcome, such was JDs friendly and curious nature.
JD walked me through the lesson plan explaining how it would focus on the technique and unique aspects of Indian cuisine, rather than getting bogged down into the specifics quantities. He later shared all the recipes, with clear detailed instructions and alternative options to make it simple to reproduce back in Australia!
The lesson had obviously been thought through in great detailed and planned perfectly to get as much as possible out of a single session. Even though we constantly had multiple dishes cooking at once, I never once felt lost or overwhelmed. Within the 1.5hr lesson we maid Kheer (rice pudding), Jeera Rice, Chicken Tikka Masala, rotis and paranthas. JD always explained the purpose behind what we were doing, was patient and focused on helping me complete the actions independently. We would often pause to taste or smell after each step, to see how different spices would change and add to the flavour. I absolutely loved learning about all the different spices and flavors involved, many I had never used before.
But the best part of all was sitting down and enjoying the meal afterwards, knowing that I had cooked it myself (with quite a bit of help!). JD and his father are incredibly talented and passionate chefs, learned over decades of their family business. They are clear and patient teachers, who get much enjoyment from sharing with others.
I've already signed up for an online lesson from back in Australia this weekend with my girlfriend. My family and friends are very keen to try his Masala Chai Masterclass!
Ill be following JD's journey on Instagram @artofindiancooking with great excitement, he's on his way to great things :)
Thank you my friend for a truly special experience.
Look forward to meeting again

This was a once in a lifetime experience with JD and his father. Learning to cook authentic Indian dishes in a local family’s home was amazing. Incredible attention to detail and patience was given in teaching us the art and appreciation of Indian cooking! JD and his father were wonderful hosts and the company made for an incredible experience with lots of laughs along the way. Would definitely recommend this tour to any one visiting Dehli and will most certainly return if I am ever in the area again 😀

Look no further! JD was an amazing host for our cooking experience. I highly recommend anyone who is even considering this to absolutely go ahead and book. The dishes we cooked were amazing but not only that we just had a great time talking to JD and learning more about the Indian culture. He goes above and beyond and his passion is absolutely incredible. Our 10 year old daughter even participated in this event and she was even able to cook like a pro. This is quite the
unforgettable experience! You must book his other tours as well I can't even express how fantastic of a tour guide he is as well. We have made memories that will be cherished for a lifetime.
Thank you JD!!

An incredible evening spent with JD and his father. We were kindly hosted for a brilliant long cooking class with a full menu. JD is a brilliant teacher and we now feel very confident in cooking his meals. He provides cooking notes, recipes and ingredients lists digitally to take home and can customise your menu around dietary needs.

JD is a perfect cooking teacher. His technique is well paced and he explains every step of the cooking really clearly. I am not a confident cook but feel I can now make the dishes JD taught. The food is amazing.
He is a lovely person and very patient, taking time to make sure we understand what to do. A joy.

I really liked the cooking class because it’s really local and you get a lot of attention. The focus is also more on the technical parts than the basic stuff witch I really liked.
You can also see the passion of the family with cooking, because you are really in there home (it’s a nice neighbourhood). There really friendly and welcoming.
