Delhi boasts of celebrations that take place throughout the year of festivals from across India. A must visit during festival times like Lohri, Janmashtami, Diwali, Ganesh Chaturthi.Written 16 July 2024
- pambosp20140 contributionsColorful experienceThis was one of the best things I did in India! I attended the Experience with my friends at Host's home in Delhi. Nidhi and Roopak are very welcoming and I learnt a lot about Holi Festival while celebrating it. They went above and beyond before, during, and after the Experience by providing me with information about the Festival. They organized a simple mini Quiz and even shared Recipes of different items which I was served during the Experience. I would recommend this Experience to anyone looking for participation in authentic & local Holi Festival in Delhi in a welcoming home!Written 3 July 2024
- Icsuey0 contributions5 stars tourThis was a great way to celebrate Holi with locals in Delhi. Everything was very well organised and I was well taken care of. I met several other Guests from different parts of the world for the event. I felt safe and comfortable and served snacks & Lunch during the Tour apart from celebrating the festival itself with abundance of colours. I particularly liked the fun games organised by the Hosts around the theme of Holi. I highly recommend this Tour with the Hosts.Written 22 June 2024
- christianheide0 contributionsWonderful, Must DoIt was an exceptional Experience and I am glad that I did this one after researching a lot of similar types. This Experience is organized by a local family and therefore I got personal attention right from the time I booked it. I attended the Experience on the day of Festival itself and was totally satisfied. I celebrated Holi, got drenched in colours, danced on music and had a wonderful meal. Nidhi and Roopak are very kind & warm Hosts. They gave me a lot of info about Holi Festival and I felt totally comfortable while celebrating the Festival with them. I highly recommend this Experience for Holi Festival in Delhi. Look no further, book it if you wish to enjoy Holi Festival in India. You can thank me later!Written 11 June 2024
- 526cristyc0 contributionsBeautiful Holi ExperienceBeautiful Holi Experience It was awesome to celebrate Holi with a beautiful local family - Roopak & Nidhi and their 2 adult children. They offered a lot of snacks pre-celebration, including the best masala Chai I've had during my travels in India. Everything was well-organized and they provided a lot of fun & useful information. They welcomed us to their home as if we were family and the community we celebrated with was also very welcoming. I recommend this colorful experience with Roopak & Nidhi.Written 14 April 2024
- 673jamalp0 contributionsHoli Festival with Roopak’s familyThis was a wonderful Experience with Roopak's family and a big community on Holi Festival. This was a complete colour riot and the food was amazing with plenty of options. I also got to learn about the Festival in a fun Quiz from the Host. My colored clothes are now my most prized Souvenirs from India. I enjoyed the Experience thoroughly and highly recommend it to Guests visiting Delhi in March.Written 30 March 2024
- Rasha810 contributionsA Lovely experienceThis was such a fun experience with Roopak & Nidhi at their home in Delhi. I got to eat lot of snacks and sweets besides playing Holi with several international Guests and local community on the Festival day. Roopak was super excellent in communicating with me immediately after I had made the Booking and answered all my questions. As a female solo traveler, I felt very safe with the family during the celebrations. The Experience ended with a delicious Lunch together with Gulab Jamun - my favourite Indian dessert. I highly recommend taking this Holi Experience since it is organsied by Roopak & his family at their very home giving the Experience a personal touch of Indian hospitality. 10/10.Written 30 March 2024

Then we went to the community's area and celebrated holi with everyone, which was an incredible experience! - 679stefanw0 contributionsFriendly, welcoming, unique! I met a guy from Singapur and a couple from Japan together with Roopaks Family! This activity was actually for Diwali - Not Holi! However it was recommended to me by a friend that visited Roopaks place two days before me. We had a pleasant time and the family was very welcoming. The place is neat, original and has a good vibe to experience a real local feeling. The instructions of coming there were plenty and clear, also providing us with WiFi and such. If you want to get to know more about Diwali, you came to the right place. And i am sure, if i'd be around in Dehli for Holi, i come again :-)Written 13 November 2023

Roopak was super kind & warm making the Tour so much enjoyable & fun. I had enough of sweets & snacks during the Tour apart from a delicious lunch. I found that the price is very reasonable compared to other such Tours in Delhi. Highly recommended for Guests travelling to India in March.Written 1 July 2023

Apart from delicious snacks, food, sweets & drinks which I got to eat, I learnt a lot about the origins of the festival from Roopak. I also got a chance to interact with Roopak's family and so many locals when I participated in the festival. The Tour was really fun and surely not to be missed if you're in Delhi. 5 Super Stars and highly recommended to all.Written 18 April 2023

Wow!!! This is honestly one of the best experiences we have ever had on any trip. We’ve been to so many places and experiences and this is something totally special. Before we had even arrived Roopak was incredibly helpful and sent us lots of information to prepare for our arrival including directions for travel. He picked us up from the station and had water in the car ready. We arrived and Roopak’s beautiful house and were greeted at Roopak’s lovely wife and daughter with a traditional greeting which was so special (I won’t say what as it will ruin the surprise!). We had a special arrival gift which was very thoughtful and lovely as a memento. We helped ti make some chai tea and drank it in special cups which we were given to take home. We had a tour of their home which was absolutely stunning. There is so many personal and unique pieces and Roopak explained everything with such detail and clarity. We spoke with the family and they are all so interesting and willing to share so many facts and information with us, never tiring of our endless questions. We helped to make dinner which was absolutely incredible. They were so very generous with the portion sizes and drinks and could not feed us enough. Everything we ate was delicious and we loved it all, we even had third helpings! We were taught some key language phrases and words and learnt historical, tradition and religious facts - we asked so many questions and they were all answered with detail and understanding. When we left we were given a leaving gift which was very kind and we were not expected to give the money over ti be counted, it really was an anonymous amount and we left it in a box so felt no pressure at all. Nothing was too much for Nynid the family; they were all so kind and generous and lovely. We were driven back tj the mentor station and even detoured to a pharmacy and Roopak helped me get the things I needed. He then walked us to the ticket machine and directed us on our way. When we left he was kind enough ti message again. We have made three friends for life in Roopak and we hope we will meet again one day. We had the most unique and wonderful experience and are so so grateful to have shared the evening and made wonderful memories with three very kind hearted and generous people. We cannot recommend this experience enough as it is something you cannot get anywhere else, and we are so so thankful we were able to meet and immerse ourselves in Roopak’s family and life for one evening.

This turned out to be my best Tour in Delhi. The Hosts are truly professional, kind & warm. With Roopak and his wife, Nidhi, I enjoyed my evening at their home to the fullest learning about India more than I could during my week's travel in India. The food Nidhi prepared was amazing and I was shared the Recipes of several Indian dishes immediately after the Tour. I had an option to visit Roopak's personal shrine in his home where he patiently explained me all about Hinduism. I am thankful to Roopak for giving me this opportunity to be at his home and would like to recommend this Tour to all tourists visiting Delhi.

I had a wonderful experience with Roopak and Nidhi. Roopak shows so much exuberance for his country and culture, you can't help but get excited!
He and his wife provided several personal touches that made the evening special, but I won't share what they were and spoil the surprises - you need to book with them to find out!
Leading up to the night, Roopak reached out to me via WhatsApp to check in and gather/share important info (like allergies, etc). As we got closer to the evening, we communicated a bit more about logistics. I took the metro to his neighborhood and we each shared our location via WhatsApp; Roopak was waiting for me at the station and he drove the final section to his home. He and his wife welcomed me with light refreshments. After a bit of chatting, we started cooking. Nidhi put me to work, first showing how she wanted vegetables cut, then handed me the rest. We got each dish started on the stove, then Roopak showed me their temple and explained a bit about Hinduism. During this time, Nidhi finished the cooking. We chatted a bit while eating, and afterwards we sat in the living room talking until I had to head back.
R & N were super welcoming and open to talk about any topic. Their home is on the way to the airport, so if you have a late flight, you could consider having an evening with them, then heading to the airport via metro.
Overall it was a great night with an authentic home-cooked meal.

Roopak and Nidhi were fantastic! They have such a passion for sharing their way of life. It was wonderful to be part of an Indian family for a short time, prepare and eat food together. They add lots of personal touches, were very considerate with our time frame/needs and we flexible with our change of times due to being stuck in traffic! This type of experience grounds you in a place, and creates memories far beyond a tour of a building!

This cooking class was one of the best things we did in India! Nidhi and Roopak are very welcoming and we learned a lot while cooking with them. They went above and beyond before, during, and after the class by providing us with information about India "must-see's" and "must-try's", mini lessons about Sanskrit, Hindi, and Hindu culture, and a yoga class taught by Nidhi (an extra charge).
We would recommend this class to anyone looking for learning a little more about local food and culture within a welcoming home!

I was in India for more than 3 months and decided to visit Roopak's home for a second time, but this time with 2 other friends. He picked us up from the nearby metro station and dropped us back after the Tour. Roopak had been sharing with me very useful information about India which helped me a lot during my trip. This second time I was again given traditional snacks, food & desserts, specially the pumpkin which is the best! I highly recommend this Tour to people who just arrived to Delhi, you’ll enjoy the company of Roopak and his wife and the valuable information he gives.

Nidhi and Roopak were absolutely the best host one could possibly ask for! My wife and I had a super jam-packed visit throughout Delhi including several sightseeing tours, upscale restaurant patronage but this cooking experience was hands down our favorite item on the itinerary. It was not only an intimate cooking experience where we learned how to cook local cuisine with fresh ingredients (the milk man literally knocked on the door to deliver the days milk for our session) but also an immersive cultural experience. We understood better of the Hindu religion due to Roopak’s and Nidhi’s exceptional english, offered desserts to the gods, and had activities in between cooking times. We learned a few phrases in Hindi! Overall they went above and beyond and for a short period we felt like true locals. Thank you best of luck!

We booked this experience through Get Your Guide.
We were looking for a great, unique experience while discovering Indian cuisine. It was a perfect moment, the two hosts welcomed us perfectly, very smiling and available, we were quickly at ease.
From the moment we booked, they were immediately very available, giving us a lot of information and being available to answer our questions.
We discovered the daily life of an Indian family while cooking with them.
We are used to taking cooking classes during our various trips to learn but this experience is much more enriching than the previous ones between a short Indian course, cooking with the host and discovering the culture, everything is perfect. I highly recommend it if you come to Delhi, don't miss it!
They kindly took us back to the metro.

We booked the experience with Nidhi and Roopak for 2 people traveling from Germany. Some days before the start they already showed their expertise in communicating to us. We got a lot of useful information about the different religions of India, must do sightseeing, a very good description how to find the building, and much more. Roopak was very accurate and responsive in the communication which is very much needed when you are a first time traveler to India. We even got the chance to visit them earlier as planned, because our flight arrived in the morning and it would have cost too much time to go to the hotel first and after checking in to Roopak. That helped a lot. We were able to ask all kinds of questions as both are open minded and very interested in other cultures. They teached us some Indian words and played a quiz with us (which we didn't pass) :-)
During the experience, they gave us background to various aspects of life in India. After a very warm welcome we had the chance to cook together with Nidhi a very tasty Chai and a delicious meal.
This experience is probably the best way to start exploring India and definitely highly recommend. You'll come as a foreigner and leave as a friend with a new home in Delhi.
If you want to explore something special, we would say start with those nice people. They will help you with anything you need. And they offer some interesting add ons like wearing a Sari, painting Henna and some other stuff.
