About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- kanand20200 contributionsEnriching experience in Goa’s Latin Quartersleft India 47 years ago with the perception that Goa was all about the seaside/beaches. This tour humbled me and Bob introduced me to Goa’s rich past, vibrant culture and tradition. This was only made possible by Bob who shared his knowledge and love for Goa in an engaging way. Joshua his assistant was with us ensuring that we stayed safe, together and took our group photos which I would love to see. My husband and I thank the owner, Mr Andrade who as a true Indian host welcomed us graciously to his Casa. The tour concluded with us being treated to freshly baked snacks and a refreshing Kokum drink at Confeitaria 31 De Janeiro bakery. Will definitely use them again….we may make Goa our winter getaway from Canada.Written 6 February 2025

Sameer was so helpful, and dedicated to making sure we made the tour and had a good time (we had trouble on our own with transportation, and he was dedicated to helping us figure it out). Then on the tour he gave us so much history, fun quizzes to test us, and made us feel like we’d been life long friends. This was my favorite day in Goa, hands down.Written 16 January 2025

The walk delved deep into the true history of Goa, exploring every important element of its heritage, culture, and traditions.
The highlight of the experience was our incredible guide, Adolf. She is nothing less than a legend and a living heritage herself! Her passion, deep knowledge, and personal connections to the history of the area made the tour incredibly enriching. It felt like a blessing to have her lead us through this journey.
Another standout moment was visiting a very old Portuguese house. It was an absolute privilege to step inside such a well-preserved piece of history and engage with the gracious owner.
This walk isn’t just about sightseeing; it’s about truly immersing yourself in Goa’s rich past and vibrant culture. I highly recommend this experience with Soul Travelling to anyone who wants to explore the authentic essence of Goa."

Adolfina is a wonderful storyteller, kind , funny and so responsive. She was extremely knowledgeable about the history of the Latin Quarters, the significance of every little detail - be it the color choices on tiles, colors of the walls, etymology of the names of people, places and fruits too!
The way she would merge history, geography and the politics of Latin Quarters was so surprising and fun.
In order to show her guests on trail what original tiles looked like, she had preserved them at a particular place before hand and when the time was right, she just pulled them out of a corner like magic. It's not simple storytelling, it's a whole show:)
She'd one to go the extra mile to recommend places to try various dishes from.
Ask her any number of questions, her knowledge is vast. Watch her Walk round the town and wave hellos to almost everyone on the way--its a sight to witness how connected the community is. The trail is a wonderful curation, the houses, their heritage, the 187 year old house on the way is a time capsule really. There are a number of collectibles from past and present in that house that one cannot take their eyes off of.
Oh and The treats at the bakery are delicious:)

Exploring Fontainhas with Soul Travelling was an unforgettable dive into Goa’s Indo-Portuguese heritage. Priyanka, our guide, was exceptional—her storytelling brought the vibrant streets, azulejos tiles, and colourful heritage homes to life. She effortlessly highlighted the fusion of Indian and Portuguese culture, from architecture to local traditions, making every detail feel meaningful. The tour was relaxed, engaging, and full of hidden gems I would’ve missed otherwise. Priyanka’s passion and warmth made it feel less like a tour and more like a journey through time. If you want to experience the true soul of Goa, this is a must!

This was an absolutely amazing tour; easily the best of all the tours I did during my three weeks in India. The tour guide was personable and friendly and it did not feel like he was reciting a memorized script. His commentary into the architecture, relgion, and culture of the neighborhood was insightful and clearly backed up by research and lived experience. His wry sense of humor was an added bonus! To top it all of, booking was a dream; super flexible and easy to do online. Communication was timely and responses from both the guide and the booking manager were extremely fast. I wish I had had more time in Goa to do more tours with this group.

Let me start off with saying that Koonan has been a great host across the whole walk. His understanding of different aspects of history and then making it all palatable for different kinds of audience is commendable. We walked through Fontainhas and it's lanes, talking about architecture, color theories, colonialism, plague, wars, saints and for the most part the spirit and history of Goa. This walk changed how I look at Goa, it's no more just a place to chill/hangout/drink. It's also the place of hope and celebration. I am awe with the resilience of people in Fontainhas. All thanks to this walk. I've never walked 3 hours without looking at my phone and this tour made it happen. Forever thankful to you guys! 🤌

Thank you so much for your heartfelt review! We're thrilled to hear that Koonan made such a positive impact on your experience with his deep understanding of history and his ability to connect with everyone on the walk. It's wonderful that your exploration of Fontainhas, with its rich discussions on architecture, color theories, colonialism, and more, has given you a new perspective on Goa.
We’re especially glad to hear that this walk helped you see Goa not just as a place to relax, but as a land of hope, celebration, and resilience. It’s amazing that you were so engaged in the experience that time flew by without even glancing at your phone—that's exactly the kind of connection we aim to create.
Thank you for being part of this journey with us, and we hope to welcome you on more walks that continue to inspire and engage!

Zena Coutinho made Margao trail walk so interesting and engaging that we missed the darkening sky and thunder in the sky! She walked us to the Cathdral, pointed out architectural insights and told us historical stories. We also enjoyed some typical goan finger foods. Overall an amazing experience.

We were piqued to learn more about goa's history and signed up for the fontainhas walk tour. Koonan led us on a delightful tour of the popular colorful area of goa filled with anecdotes, history, cultural facts and more. We even got to visit a 180yr old house still maintained by the original family and ended with snacks at the goldspot cafe. Unfortunately since we went on a Sunday the oldest bakery was shut and we could not cover it, so if u plan your walk on a Sunday be aware that's it is the Lord's day and many places are shut in the area. Nevertheless we enjoyed our walk.

Inspite of it being a rainy week, we were fortunate to have booked the Aldona village experience. We were accompanied by Josh (the local from Aldona) and Adolfina (our guide and local to Goa, who had great knowledge of the history, culture and heritage of the place). The trip started at the village square, and from there we visited the church, the cemetery and a few other iconic spots, that are unique to the area (don't want to spell everything, to spoil the show ;) The trip ended on a sweet note at Jacinda's house, where we were in for a treat in terms of local snacks and wine tasting (some of which were, hard to figure but delightful to taste).
The teams authenticity, knowledge and love for Goa, made the trip memorable and something I would definitely go back to, to try some of their other tours.

We had a great time exploring the rich history, architecture and food of the Latin Quarters in Panaji! Roy, our ambassador, is very knowledgeable and knows the area inside out. The stories, factoids and anecdotes that he shared were engaging and intriguing. We did the tour with our 3 year old, which was quite manageable. If you have little kids with you, it is advisable to carry a pram. The walk was done at a leisurely pace with enough time given to each stop.
The highlights for me were:
1. The house we visited. The owner was a very warm and hospitable gentleman who takes pride in his family’s history and tradition.
2. The local cafe we visited. Amazing food.
3. Feni tasting at a local bar (add on activity) was fun.
10/10 would recommend.

A worth to visit this place which is more colourful, beautiful and very well maintained. I was very impressed after getting to know about the ancient history about that particular place. We also got a chance to visit the oldest cafe of Goa and tasted some of the unique items of Goan. I would really like to thanks Adolfina who was our ambassador for the entire journey. She is knowledgable about the place and taken us through the walk with some important and relevant places and persons who were really not know to the world. Thank you for this opportunity Soul Travelling.
