- 1Fontainhas is not only the oldest but the largest Latin quarter of Asia. Located at the foot of the hills, Altinho hills with springs surround Fontainhas on the west side, which give it its name from Portuguese for “little fountain”. Witness the Portuguese past that eventually survived the onslaught of development in the 21st century. The houses are dressed in yellow, green and blue, balconies fronted by wrought iron railings and tiled roofs transporting you to another era.

- Adventure619264226840 contributionsRe-Imagining Goa..The Saligao Saunter gives a unique opportunity to explore a lesser-known side of Goa, uncovering stories that are deeply rooted in Goan society which are often overlooked. Saligao, a village that embodies Goa's rich tapestry of diverse cultures, serves as a perfect example of this wonderful blend. Vaibhav Salgaonkar, the storyteller leading this tour, brings a profound understanding of the culture of Saligao, drawn from his personal experiences. His research skills are exceptional, and he builds a strong rapport with the guests, making each one feel personally connected to it. Vaibhav’s engaging storytelling style with a tint of Humour, combined with his vast knowledge, makes every moment captivating and enjoyable. As a gifted artist, he adds an extra layer of creativity to this experience with his sketchbook and making sketches of the guests making the walk truly memorable. His passion for Goa’s history and culture shines through, making him not just a storyteller but an ambassador for the region. As a Goan I feel If initiatives like this continue, they will not only help dispel stereotypes about Goan society but also contribute to preserving the subtleties of this region for future generations. This is truly a commendable effort.. Keep up the Good Work!Written 5 October 2024
- romaf1370 contributionsUnique experience in GoaWe had the best time visiting Diwar island with our story teller Rutwik. Such an unexplored place with rich history and culture about Goa that you wouldn’t otherwise know about. The trail planned by Make it happen was so unique, with unique additions and the tour was not rushed which was the best part. We really got a chance to immerse ourselves in the stories of the place and experience the place that it made the whole trip that much more rewarding. A must visit if you like doing off best things, like history and learning about different cultures.Written 5 October 2024
- Nomad6725630 contributionsGreat ExperienceWe took Divar Island trail trip on 1st Oct and this was definitely one of the best experiences we had on our Goa trip. Hritvik is an amazing guide with extremely good knowledge and friendly nature. We had lunch in a local household and our host was extremely courteous and food was delicious. We also had a brief music session which was a good addition to the trip by MIT. Thanks Hritvik for making it a perfect trip.Written 5 October 2024
- AshwiniB1470 contributionsChandor through the agesPawan and Hinaz made us feel very welcome. The trail was well thought out, the story telling (I wouldn’t call it explanation) made the historical characters come alive. The old houses were a glimpse into Goan life through the centuries. - adventtraveller0070 contributionsWonderful old goa experienceWe had amazing walk with an amazing storyteller, Mugdha. Knowing the stories behind every architectural marvel and things most people might leave unnoticed was truly amazing. I believe anyone coming to goa should visit here along with a storyteller like Mugdha. Otherwise you just come and take pics of random buildings and churches. They hold stories only a good storyteller can unlock.Written 24 September 2024

Vimala is a master storyteller who makes sure that you remember what is being told. The stories are nicely tied up and do not feel like historical facts being rattled off. One of the most amazing and beautifully curated experiences I have had in Goa. Fontainhas heritage walk with Make It Happen is something we would highly recommend for anyone who is looking for an experience beyond beaches in Goa. Our host, Ameez, beautifully narrated the tale of how the Fontainhas Quarters came into existence, the elements of the Indo-Portugese houses, the story behind all the colors of those little streets and a lovely musical end to the entire trip. Thoroughly enjoyed each and every part of it. Highly recommended!

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed this walking tour on a rainy afternoon in July. While the focus is on the beaches and the nightlife, Goa has a rich history that is often overlooked by visitors. Fonatinhas is a colorful little heritage part of Panjim. Our guide Amreen was great at narrating the interesting stories behind the foundation of Panjim and some of the important buildings, the architecture, etc. We had a little coffee break at a cute little cafe and were treated to a live performance of Konkani and Portuguese songs by a local artist. I highly recommend this tour to anyone who wants to spend a fun couple of hours learning more about Goa and Panjim's pre-colonial and colonial past.

Lata Rodrigues made the experience very inclusive and relatable. She told us beautiful stories from inside of Goa and took us through the colourful by-lanes. I was there with my parents and they loved it too. My mom is not very well versed with speaking english so Lata also gave few insights in Hindi for her after the tour.
Everything was lovely except the part that we felt it was overpriced when it came to a family expense. Mostly tours are priced based on groups and not individual person. We recently went to Jaipur where we paid Rs 600 for a similar tour for our family and not Rs 600 per person!! Which was decent and made sense.

It was a wonderful experience. Our guide Amreen was very knowledgeable. She explained the historical importance of Fontainhas in a very interesting manner. She engaged the group with the facts as well as the folk lores about the Fontainhas during the entire walk. We could cover all the important places of the Latin quarters in 2 hours and that's the benefit of such curated walking tours. The meeting with the local musician was icing on the cake. Being a solo traveler, the walk was also an opportunity for me to interact with other travelers of the Group. Amreen was also kind enough to give me tips on best places to buy cashewnuts! I would recommend this tour to all those tourists who want to explore Goan culture and heritage beyond its famous beaches and night life.

We did the morning Fountainhas Walk with Petulla. By coincidence we were the only ones and it turned out to be a private tour :-)
The tour took us through Fountainhas with breaks in between for a stop at a bakery, art gallery and ending with a short musical performance. Petulla was knowledgeable with regard to history of Fountainhas. The entire tour lasted for about 2 hours. The tour will give you opportunities to take lots of pictures, however if you've been to Pondicherry it will seem familiar.
In terms of value of money, we found tour expensive for value offered and hence would not recommend it to others. The walk can easily be done on your own with some research on the net.

Hello Rahul and Asha,
The fact that you managed to have a private experience for a standard pricing itself is value for money.
Also, while you might be able to walk to all the spots using internet research and Google maps the indepth storytelling and perspectives that we offer is not available online.
Thank you for booking with us!

I joined the tour with an expectation to learn much more about this fascinating part of Panjim which I had seen before but had limited idea about.
With this expectation I joined the tour, and it was completely worth it. Our guide Amreen shared with us detailed and engrossing stories of the various buildings in this area, and her stories truly made the district come alive. We were also treated to traditional Goan sweets at a cafe and to a session of fun Goan music at the end of the tour.
Overall, the tour was 100% worth it. Would highly recommend it to anyone remotely curious about the colonial history and culture of Panjim. I am looking forward to join more such trips with Make it happen in the future.

Our family of three thoroughly enjoyed the Fontainhas Heritage Walk conducted by 'Make it Happen' and would highly recommend it to anyone who would like a glimpse into Goan history. It was a moderately rainy day, and we were joined by another family for a group walk and it seemed like a great activity to do considering it was raining. We went armed with our umbrellas and walking shoes and walked through quite an interesting slice of Goan history. The architecture, the colors, the Christian influence and the stories were all captivating and brought to life by our charming storyteller and host, Petulla. We sampled on Goan snacks and sweet delicacies, also got a glimpse into the culture through some music and dance...all in all was a real fun experience. We decided to go on this mainly for our 13 year old and he enjoyed it too. Given that its an UNESCO heritage site, the houses kind of take us back to the past. Taking pictures on quaint housefronts and petting local felines he was in heaven.

Our walk was hosted by Ambreen and her friend. They were extremely thorough and were kind to take pictures of the group as well. We started at the Indian Post office, with some trivia. Our walk then took us through beautiful bylanes, Portuguese architecture homes and more trivia about how the roads are named, the various priests within Catholicism and the foreign architecture being made mainstream by the yesteryear locals. We stopped for a quick snack break, where we couldn’t stop eating followed by some more walking and then a live concert by the Latin Monk, who was incredible with songs in Spanish, Konkani and English. Our hosts then walked us back to the starting point and bade us farewell, made sure we learnt something knew, fed us well and entertained us with trivia and music all along the way.
Would absolutely recommend this to everybody that comes to Fontainhas, there are details that you would walk past if you weren’t told!

Been to Panjim many times but today our eyes were opened on our guided walk through the famous Fontainhas district. A UNESCO world heritage site
How could we have been coming to Goa so often and missed so much?
Our guide, Lata's knowledge of the history of Goa and the Portuguese influence in the state was first class. She brought history to life as she guided us through the narrow streets and squares of the district.
We thoroughly enjoyed seeing inside the old Hindu guest house and the beautiful home and artefacts of Mr Chico's Catholic home and tasting tempting treats from one of the oldest bakeries in the cit iny.
It was a fabulous afternoon walk. An easy walk that all could enjoy. One that has left us with many happy memories.
Highly recommended.
