About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- efendie20140 contributionsA short visit to KinshasaMy brother and I took a trip. In the afternoon, we took a motorboat across the Congo River from Brazzaville and arrived in Kinshasa. There they were waiting for us and helped us through the formalities and carried our luggage. In the afternoon we visited the main sights of the city. The next morning we rushed to the Lola ya Bonobo Sanctuary. It was very interesting to see the amazing work they do to protect these animals, which are similar to chimpanzees but smarter than chimpanzees. Back in town we visited the Martyrs' Stadium and the National Museum. Then we packed up and just caught our flight. Leave plenty of time to get to the airport. Kinshasa has unbelievable traffic jams. It took 3 hours to cover the 25 km from the hub. Our guide in Kishnhasa Emmanuel was great. The vehicle we travelled in was clean and comfortable and the driver was always safe and very nice.Written 2 June 2024
- 975iamt0 contributions5 starIt was a pleasure traveling with Congo Local Guides. They did a great job helping me from visa and crossing the border into Bukavu to boat trip across the lake Kivu and one night stay in Goma. I'd like to give a credit to everyone but especially Christian, who is such a great organiser understands what tourists need and respectful. I had a problem in Rwanda so i had to change the schedule but he kindly accepted and rescheduled accordingly in timely manner without a hassle. I would highly recommend Congo Local Guide.Written 30 December 2023
- Joel C0 contributionsBest tourism agency in congoThe DR Congo is a country which is both beautiful and intense. With this intensity comes the possibility of danger and unpredictability. However, under the guidance of Christian and the team at congo local guides my safety was never an issue. Christian is a true professional and made my safety while travelling around DRC his number one priority. Even through unpredictable and at times trying circumstances in a remote region of central congo, Christian, through his deep knowledge of the country and commitment to his role as a coordinator managed to navigate me safely and with professionalism. During my visit to Congo I travelled to Bukavu, Goma and Kisangani and was seamlessly assisted by multiple guides. From the moment i entered DRC I was greeted by Daniel, who went above and beyond to make me feel welcome within the country and was a great introduction to the team at congo local guides. I maintained continual communication with Christian throughout the trip who was always ready to respond and answer any questions I might have as well as to help facilitate a smooth transition through the carefully thought out and well constructed itinerary. After I arrived in Goma I met with Christian who again made me feel very welcome as a tourist in Congo, even inviting me to share a dinner at his house with his family. Christian is an outstanding individual and Congo is very lucky to have him. I highly recommend Congo Local Guides as the number one tourism agency in Congo, my time in DRC would have been nothing without their help. I look forward to coming back and meeting with everyone again :)Written 10 December 2023
- haraldm4680 contributionsKinshasa city tour - you should have seen itWe had 6 days with Christian's team in Kinshasa. They really did their best to show us every facette of one of the biggest town of the world, rapidly growing in one of the still less developed countries. Without locals as a european foreigner you are definately lost......Written 27 August 2023
- Eng_JK0 contributionsWhen in the DRC, Christian is your guy! When travelling off the beaten path, you'd want the best and safest experience possible. This is exactly what we- my wife and I got with Christian, From the moment we'd contacted him about the possibility of organising a trip to the DRC, he responded very promptly to our questions and sent us a detailed itinerary of places we could visit in and around Bukavu, Idjwi Islands and Goma. He's also knowledgeable of tourist visa rules and was very reliable in arranging our entry visas and responsible in communicating to us requirements of our travel. All areas of the itinerary were taken care in detail- we just showed up and were guided through a plethora of activities from gorilla trekking in Kahuzi Biega National Park to cultural visits with the local people of the Idjwis and a relaxing overnight stay at the tented camps of Tchegera Island. The extent of Christian's commitment to tourists travelling with his company cannot be overstated, Although we did not meet him in person during our time there, he always made sure to remain contactable and dutifully responded and dealt with any concerns we had along the way. All this while he was travelling on a separate trip in the remote regions of Congo- this level of professionalism is extremely commendable and where we're concerned, is the gold standard that private guides should aspire to.Written 26 June 2023
- X2863SGjang0 contributionsKinshshasa tourWe did our trip with Congo local guides in March. We visited Kinshasa and partly Congo central province. We had special experience with Tata Gonda. In Kishasa we met with sapeurs, visited Bonobo sanctuary and our highlight was wrestling. Trip was very well organized, all minor setbacks were very well and quickly resolved. Our guide Josiphia was very helpfull and took really good care of us and our safety. Trully amazing trip and services!Written 7 April 2023
- I222GQchristianb0 contributionsKatanga Trip DRCI did a 10 day trip with CLG and their guide Luc through Katanga region riding my own motorbike. Although not an ordinary trip and a bit complicated in the preparation specially due to paperwork, Christian and his crew worked tirelessly to get everything together and make it happen. On the ground in DRC it was extremely helpful to have Luc at my side who is speaking all necessary local languages. And since i don´t speak french it was also great that Luc speaks english. Luc´s a super nice chap who stayed calm and cool even when situations got stressy and complicated. I enjoyed it a lot to travel with him and share this great experience riding a motorbike through DRC. Of course, DRC is not an easy destination, but with CLG you are in the best of hands. Special thanks to Luc for sharing this with me and Christian for the fantastic preparation and support from start to end (and even my ongoing travels during that trip) and of course to everyone else involved from the CLG crew. Highly recommended!Written 21 December 2022
- dantorsiello0 contributionsSecond Trip - Keeps Getting BetterWhat an outstanding visit! This was my second trip to the Kivus with CLG and I cannot speak highly enough of Christian, Josiphia, and the entirety of the CLG family. We spent 14 days with them this year, traveling to Kahuzi-Biega National Park, Bukavu, Mushaki, Goma, and across the border to Gisyeni, Rwanda. The entire trip was professional, done in comfort, and with safety as the key priority. Christian and his team know there areas intimately and make sure the entire experience is tailored to your needs and wants. I cannot wait to return against in August 2023!Written 16 November 2022
- Benobenefritz0 contributions8 days in KivuI spent 8 very successfull days in the Kivu region. Congo Local Guides has organized my stay, and I was guided by Josiphia. After pick-up at the Grand Barriere and an afternoon in Goma, we took the boat (Emmanuel) to Bukavu. We visited Kahuzi Biega, Lwiro and hot springs. Then we went to Idjwi, where we visited the local coffee plantation. I highly reccomend a visit to the Lowa Chocolate factory in Goma! Every day was another great learning experience, and felt very welcomed and safe. The food was delicious and I very much recommend Congo Local Guides. As it was my first time visiting the DRC, I did not want to organize everything on my own, and I'm glad I found them.Written 9 August 2022
- tommE3483TE0 contributionsAmazing Photo trip to DRCI had to travel all around the world to discover in DRC the most professional and friendly travel agency willing to fulfill all my requests for my 2-weeks long demanding trip to DRC in order to discover AND photograph the hidden gems of Congolese culture. No other person would make it happen, other than Christian, who put all his efforts, passion and patience for successfully and flawlessly go through all the details of my itinerary. DR Congo is not an easy country to travel to, but all the time I felt safe and assured that everything will go as planned. And it did !!!Written 31 July 2022
- 961d_boram0 contributionsCongo-Central tour : from Muanda to ZongoEvery part of this trip was memorable thanks to the amazing guides, Gloria and Fleury. They were always going above and beyond to make sure I am safe and, as a woman who travel solo, this is a big deal. I recommend the tour in Congo-Central with Congo Local Guides without any hesitation.Written 4 November 2021
- dantorsiello0 contributionsExcellent Service, Communication, PeopleChristian and his staff at CLG did everything to make my time in Goma and the eastern DRC a memorable experience. From arranging postcards from Kinshasa, to transferring me to and from the airport, to organizing volunteer trips to multiple orphanages, and putting together trips and experiences in Goma and afield. I highly recommend Christian and his staff and look forward to returning next year.Written 21 August 2021
- Maciej150 contributionsAmaznig time in DRCI can really recommend that company. I work in tourist market and I have a big experience in those topics. Christian and his friends are really honest and friendly guys. He showed us thing which normally we have never seen like: people live in village, how produce fruits, what they do in work, free time. We got a chance to see real Congo not just a tourtist part. They are very professional. There was a schedule with all plan what we do. During all tour we could feel safe all the time. They really care about it. If you go to Congo take Congo Local Guides and you get the best experience!!! It is really worth.Written 19 August 2020

- Schoepsi0 contributionsAmazing experience with Congo Local GuidesCongo Local Guides are simply amazing. They not only offer short or daily tours around and in Goma, but also extensive trips in almost the whole country. I was lucky, because I was the first person who did a one month road trip together with Christian. Starting in Zambia we've traveled through eastern Congo from south to north - by truck, by car, by boat and mototaxi. We've visited Lubumbashi, Likasi, Kasongo, Kindu, Kisangani, Goma, Idjwi Island (and many more) and ended in Bukavu. Even though this was the first time for both of us doing such a tour, Christian was a such a great guide. He speaks all local languages, which helps a lot, especially when you are in remote places. It was more like two friends doing a road trip. We've visited very remote areas and had so much fun during our one month trip. Of course, this kind of trip is not suitable for everyone, but those who look for real adventures should try. If you are looking for someone trustworthy and reliable, CLG is the right choice.Written 8 December 2019

Congo Local Guides were incredible from the beginning! Christian, our guide, was readily contactable on Whatsapp and communicating well throughout. On the day, he was at the border at our chosen time to greet us and he was a fantastic help translating and communicating with different border agents to ensure that the process went smoothly and swiftly. Christian was very flexible and was able to provide a suitable car and driver to suit our itinerary, while also acting as a tour guide as well. Our tour was customised, to include sites and places that we already knew about that we wanted to see, as well as some of his own suggestions. One of the highlights that Christian suggested was a visit to Turunga village towards the North of Goma where we could see the hardened lava from previous Nyiragongo volcanic eruptions, and were able to stop on top of a hill and take photographs with an incredible panoramic view of the city and airport, as well as taking a quick visit inside a hidden cave. Christian was incredibly helpful taking photos of our group throughout the day, and giving us different information about the social life and history of Goma as well. It was clear that he was very passionate about the city and his work, and was eager for tourists to see and enjoy all of the positive things that the city has to offer. For a reliable, professional service, as well as a safe and fun way to see Goma city, Congo Local Guides is definitely the best to consider!

I had an excellent guide called Josophia via Congo Local Guides which is run by Christian who is very helpful, friendly and very quick to respond.
His guide was extremely professional and explained every spot that we visited within Goma very well. He also gave me great knowledge on various aspects about Goma and Congo in general from cultural, political and historical points and he made the tour extremely interesting for me .
I find him very approachable as well to ask the most basic questions which made the tour enjoyable
Anyone can walk around in Goma by themselves ,but the place becomes a lot more interesting when a good guide shares many stories and facts that cannot easily be found on the Internet.
I highly recommend him !
