Private Tour: 9 Days China Tour to Beijing - Xi'an – Shanghai
Our family of 4 went on a 9 day China Tour with TravelChinaGuide to Beijing, Xian and Shanghai. I had a great experience working with Amy (TravelChinaGuide) in planning our customize private tour. She was very responsive and created an itinerary that met our expectations (and added extra requests and kindly made last minute changes when needed). The local tour guides (Selina, Susan & Sophie) and drivers in each of these locations were very professional, knowledgeable and accommodating and created memorable experiences for us in each of the cities in China. I highly recommend booking a tour with TravelChinaGuide as they made it less stressful for me during this vacation. TravelChinaGuide made all the hotel and ticket bookings, domestic flight/train/car arrangements and most meals. Any issues we encountered (not much), it was handled promptly by Amy and our local tour guides. Again, booking with TCG is highly recommended as this definitely gave me the chance to really enjoyed the trip instead of figuring out all the detailed logistics of any vacation planning.

        A wonderful 17-day China trip
With the help from Wendy Lee of Travel China Guide, our group of 19 members was able to customize an amazing 17-day China trip. Wendy patiently worked with us answering numerous questions, to finalize this once in a lifetime trip. All the arrangements were perfect; hotels, meals, transportations and local tour guides were all top notch. We visited many beautiful cities and sites. The highlight of the trip was the last two days at Huangshan. We were fortunate to have a sunny day on the day we started climbing the mountains. Alvin was our local tour guide, who is knowledgeable, energetic and professional. He cheered us on as we climbed the never-ending steps while soaking in the panoramic and breathtaking views of huangshan. Lots of walking was required to see the many magnificent sites of Huansshan, Alvin providing an interesting narrative and story along the way so we forgot the physical exhaustion! Our 17-day China trip was fantastic. We truly appreciate the efforts made by Travel China Guide! We will continue using Travel China Guide to plan our next China vacation and will happily recommend it to our friends.

        Awesome!
My friend and I had a wonderful time, from the moment we arrived till we reluctantly left. Our tour guide, April, was awesome. We enjoyed everything, especially the local food, we had a great meal every day. I will do the Huangshan tour again in different seasons. This was not the first time I had a tour by Travel China Guide. TCG has always been my choice. Thanks, Amy Jian, for the Huangshan arrangement.

        Huangshan
Our visit to Huangshan and the Yellow Mountains was 2 days and 2 nights filled with history, unbelievable views, interesting shopping, and great food; made all the better due to our amazing guide Selena. Having her with our group answering questions, leading us to the best views and pointing out the best places for snapshots, taking us to a favorite local restaurant, or helping to find the best deals in the market, is the difference between a good visit and a memorable one. Selena went above and beyond as our guide for this segment of our trip and made our time in Huangshan one of the highlights of our China tour.

        Huangshan 4-Day Tour
We arranged a 4-day, 3-night private tour of Huangshan for our group of 6 through Travel China Guide. This is just about the right amount of time if your goal is to explore both the front and back ranges and see as much of the mountain as you can. We started our tour exploring the Tunxi old street in Huangshan city, after being met at the train station by our tour guide, Alvin. Alvin spoke excellent English, was very knowledgeable about the area, and was patient and flexible with our group. The next morning, Alvin arranged the transportation to the park, storage of our luggage at a local hotel in the village (you carry only backpacks with you on top of the mountain), and the cable car ride to the top of the mountain. We started on the front mountain side by catching the cable car at Mercy Light Pavilion. We then hiked a short distance to see the picturesque Greeting-guest Pine and had lunch at the Yuping Hotel. After lunch, we hiked another couple hours and saw Lotus Peak, went through the Narrow Cliff, and climbed Turtle Peak, before finally arriving to our hotel for the 1st night, Baiyun Hotel. This hotel is an older facility with limited dining choices, but adequate for our needs. After checking into the hotel and a brief rest, we hiked the 1 hour to the Fairy Walking Bridge. Definitely worth the effort with spectacular views of the canyon and surrounding peaks. On the 2nd day on top of the mountain, we caught the funicular railway at Tian Hai Station to the bottom of West Sea Grand Canyon and then hiked backed up the other side of the canyon. At Alvin's suggestion, we hiked up the right side of the 2nd Ring and on the left side of the 1st ring to get spectacular views of both the canyon and surrounding mountains. The trails are very steep, so it took us about 3 hours to get back to the top. For a less physically-demanding experience, it's probably better to hike down and take the funicular back up the canyon. The weather in Huangshan can be highly unpredictable. Just as we arrived to our 2nd hotel, Xihai Hotel, it started raining and got very foggy, which prevented us from doing anything else the rest of the afternoon. Fortunately, the Xihai Hotel is new and modern with comfortable rooms, so it was a nice place to spend the rest of the day. They have an excellent dinner buffet, which is highly recommended even if you don't stay at this hotel. The next morning, the rain stopped and the fog lifted just in time for our descent down the mountain. We got fantastic pictures of the peaks surrounded by mist and low clouds. After exploring parts of the back mountain in the morning, we made our way to the White Goose station to take the cable car back down the mountain. After picking up our stored luggage at the local hotel in the village, Alvin arranged a delicious lunch at a restaurant close to the Huangshan north train station, so that we could take our high-speed train back to Shanghai afterwards. All in all, our Huangshan tour was a memorable experience and one of the highlights of our trip to China. Definitely highly recommended and a must see for nature lovers. Using an experienced tour company like Travel China Guide to arrange all the trip details and guide us on our tour was also worth it.

        2 Days Trip to Huangshan
We booked the trip to Huangshan, traditional village and old town with Travel China Guide. It was a private tour for 10 of us. Pick up and drop off were all on schedule. Our English speaking guide, April, was amazing! She is pleasant, passionate, knowledgeable, patient, puncture, caring and fluent in English. She is also a nature lover. We have learned different plants and herbs from her during the tour. It was one of the most memorable and reliable tours we ever had. Great job!

        Fantastic trip to yellow mountains
We travelled to the Yellow Mountains with Travel China Guide earlier this month. We were 2 families traveling with 5 kids aged between 9-14. The beauty of these mountains is simply breathtaking and you can see how these craggy peaks covered in mists have inspired Chinese paintings for centuries. Our guide Bruce spoke excellent English and made the trip very comfortable. He was friendly and chatty and engaged well with our kids Our 2 day trip started when we arrived in Huangshan in the afternoon and spent the evening exploring the charming Tunxi old street. The next morning we left for the yellow mountains and took the cable car up to the the national park. We got the day to explore the mountains walking to the various viewing points with Bruce, each more spectacular than the other. The next morning we headed back to the base of the mountain via cable car and then drove to the picturesque Hongcun village where we had a delicious lunch before heading on to the next part of our tour. The weather on the mountain is unpredictable but we were very lucky! Despite thunder storms at night we were fortunate that the lightning had stopped during our cable car trip or else we might have experienced a delay. The trip to the yellow mountains was definitely a highlight of our China travel and we’d highly recommended it.

        HuangShan and Hongcun
Joe was our tour guide to our four days and three nights trip to HuangShan and Hongcun through Travel China Guide. He is very knowledgeable, informative, pleasant and helpful. His command of English is excellent !! He helped us to plan this front mountain hike up and come down from the back mountain. We took the cable car from Mercy Light Temple to Jade Screen and hike from there to Beihai Hotel. It was a difficult hike but it was well worth the effort. Because Joe knows the mountain like his back yard. We experienced the mountain, the trees, the rocks, the culture, and the history through his eyes. The weather on the mountain changed constantly. He was be able to re-arrange the hikes accordingly so we can see the best of the different peaks. The hotel, transportation and the meals are all well planned. Two nights stay was perfect for us so we can have time to explore and enjoy the mountain. Joe introduced us to the Hongcun after the mountain visit. It was such a nice visit to this treasure. He get to know the tradition, the culture and the people. Joe does not just have wealth of knowledge about HuangShan and Hongcun but he also has infinite patient when we wondered off or tired! We enjoyed his guiding. We also appreciated Joe's support and understanding. It has become the best and unforgettable part to our whole China trip!

Making the best of the situation
Louise was my guide during a recent visit to Huangshan. She was very informative and pleasant and her command of English was excellent. Arrangements had been made for an overnight at the top of the mountain with lots of hiking and plans to watch the sunrise. However Mother Nature had other other plans. It was very foggy and cold. In fact it snowed! Being an optimist, I suggested that we meet at 5:30am in case the weather improved. Although I’m sure she knew this was a fool’s errand, Louise agreed. She texted me to cancel the plan when she woke up at 5am and couldn’t see out the window. She was a really good sport about it, too. Although our activities were extremely limited by the ice underfoot, Louise still managed to make the visit very enjoyable.

Tour of Huangshan In 3 Days
My 4 days at Huangshan was a wonderful experience. My tour guide Ellen strategically toured me to each of the sightseeing point in 3 days. So many things to observe and absorb ... many mountainous sceneries, sea of cloud, above the cloud, waterfall cloud, culture, and historical architectures and more. Perfect weather in late January and the snow came at my last day on the mountain which gave me a chance to experience the cold winter there. The hike along each route was breath-taking and Ellen did a great job in explaining the history behind each area. The hotel stay, transportation, and meal were perfectly organized and everything went smoothly as planned. Ellen is a skillful tour guide who make my trip very enjoyable. Will tour Huangshan again in a different season. Thank you.

Went to Hongcun Village on our first day and learned a lot about the unique architecture of the old buildings. After that, toured around Tunxi Old Street which was a rather pleasant visit due to it being the off-peak season when we were there.

The next day we went to Huangshan mountain and learned much about the history of it on the way up the mountain. We also managed to catch the beautiful sunset which is a very rare and delightful experience.

Our guide, Vans, brought us to a few parts of the mountain that not many people know about, thus escaping the crowds and giving us the opportunity to take much more beautiful pictures of the scenery as a family.

The hotels that we patronised were comfortable and exceeded our expectations.

Overall, we really enjoyed the experience with Vans as our tour guide in Huangshan. We hope that we can visit again soon!

This tour was excellent. From the time I arrived on the train to the time I departed, I was in the hands of a pro, my tour guide Christina. Our first stop was Hongcun Village, a picturesque ancient town with a lot of local culture to learn about and experience. Christina helped me sample some of the local food, communicating to the locals about my food allergy. In the evening, I stayed near Tunxi Old Street which was a pleasant place to walk, shop, and have dinner. Days two and three were spent on Yellow Mountain. We had terrible weather! Fog covered the mountain the whole time. Bad luck. If I was rating the mountain it would get less stars ;). My guide kept things pleasant and cheerful, and took pictures for me. She was knowledgeable about the mountain and local culture so at least listening to her was interesting. When I decided to leave the mountain a little early, she was very accommodating and helpful with the trains. If you try it, good luck with the weather, and maybe plan a little flexibility in your schedule and check the weather reports!

Dear b08253794, It is so nice to see you on Tripadvisor again! Thanks for sharing your great three days experience in Huangshan with us. What a delight to know that you had a good time visiting Hongcun Village and tasted local food with your guide Christina, a professional tour guide in our company. Meanwhile, it is a pity that the bad weather at your days on Mountain Huangshan affected your trip. Thanks for your kind tips for the future travelers who intend to go to Huangshan. We agree with you that it is necessary to check the weather before the trip. Again, we are grateful for your precious time and wish to work with you again in the near future. Best regards!

I visited with my daughter on the 3 day private tour. Tony was our guide. He was personable, considerate and very knowledgeable. Hongchun village and Mt huangshan have very beautiful scenery and rich in culture and history which Tony described beautifully to us. We were able to see traditional Anhui architecture in detail and visit locations where scenes from the film 'Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon' were filmed in Hongchun village. I expressed my interest in tea from the area and Tony especially brought us to a great tea shop where I was able to sample and purchase huangshan maofeng. We were also able to try Anhui specialty dish of chouguiyu and mao doufu- both were unique and delicious but may not be for everyone. The weather was already quite hot at the time of visiting (high 20s+ degrees in May).

Overall the tour was great (I used Travel China Guide Your to arrange my trip which I highly recommend). I highly recommend Tony as a guide as he is knowledgeable, amiable and provides a relaxed atmosphere perfect for casual touring. I hope I can go back again as there is a lot more to see and learn.

      Thank you Tony!

HuangShan is one of the places you probably will revisit, it is my 2nd trip and I haven’t had enough of it!
No words can describe this magnificent and majestic mountains, you got to come to see and to appreciate the beauty yourself!
A three days two nights stay in HuangShan alone is a recommended. Pack light, a pair of good walking/hiking shoes and a stick may be helpful. There are a lot of steps up and down (well-constructed, kudos to the workers!) Walking is very demanding physically and I wouldn’t suggest to bring little kids on the tour.
Tunxi Old Street, Hongcun Village definitely have their unique attractions, I wish we could have stay longer. Well, maybe there will be a 3rd visit.
There are nine of us in this trip, a few of us had visited HuangShan before, however having a professional tour guide is the wise decision! Our tour guide is Yin Leung. Mr. Yin grew up in nearby township. He is an experience and knowledgeable tour guide. Showing HuangShan is like sharing his family story with you. Local expertise matters!
If you don’t know what you had missed, then you haven’t’ missed anything. But if you are guided to see most of the attractions, then this trip is well worth it!
Whether you are a nature lover or not, HuangShan is for you!

We were really glad to have had our 3 day trip to Hangzhou and Huangshan planned by TravelChinaGuide - they suggested places that we may not have visited otherwise - like HongCun. Having a driver saved us time and energy, and a guide is imperative to fully appreciate the history and culture of the village.

Going through TCG also saved us lots of logistics not having to book everything ourselves,or having to figure out where to eat as well.

Both guides provided were fantastic - friendly and a wealth of information. Sunny (our guide in Huangshan) gave lots of practical suggestions and was a huge encouragement on the long climb on day two.

Our trip to China overall was amazing .. every site a new experience but the 3 days at Huangshan mountain was an adventure! Our guide William was experienced and caring and sensitive to our needs and ability to challenge the trek .. his black tea was a lifesaver when I desperately needed a rest !.. we felt a real sense of achievement at the end and the views were spectacular.. highly recommended. We had a fantastic time in the Huangshan area. We started in Shanghai and the train tickets were delivered directly to the hotel, which made pickup very easy. Our guide, Sunny, was extremely friendly and met us at the train station with a clear sign. She was very knowledgeable about the area and Chinese history/culture in general. I highly recommend visiting the Huangshan mountains.

My wife and I recently took a two-day tour to Yellow Mountain. After being picked up from the train station by our guide Bruce, we first visited the town of Hongcun village. This was a magnificent town which is developed in the design of an Ox, with different parts of the village representing the parts of the Ox. The village is very traditional and I recognised the parts used in the film Crouching Tiger.
After a night’s rest in Huangshan, we headed up the mountain by cable car, on the way to the cable car we were lucky enough to see a family of monkeys in the trees!! The journey up the cable car on its own was amazing, with spectacular views. On arrival at the top of the mountain we trekked to a number of different location and peaks with each view more exciting than the last. There was a lot of mist swirling around the mountain at this time and the view would come and go. So even when standing in the same spot the view would magically change with the mist.
After lunch Bruce brought us down to the Grand Canyon area of the mountain, this is a much steeper part of the mountain as you descend down in to the valley. Although a though climb the sense of being surrounded by the mountain was incredible. After this we walked up to see the peak at flying over rock from where we were able to see the path we had taken through the mountain. We arrived back at the hotel in time to see a spectacular sunset on the mountain.
The following morning, we got up early to see the sunrise. Although the views were beautiful, the clouds conspired against us to prevent the prefect scene, although the crowds that made the effort were no disappointed in views we got. After a quick breakfast we headed back out trekking on the mountain trying to fit in as many of the locations as we could before heading back to the cable car.
Our time in the mountain was all too short, it was a breath-taking adventure which was well worth the effort of getting there.

Huangshan was part of a 22-day private tour of China, all arranged by Travel China Guide. Sally Si was our consultant and patiently worked with us to build an itinerary designed just for us.
Tony was our guide in Shanghai, and we had made contact with him through the app WeChat prior to our arrival.
We traveled from Shanghai to Huangshan by bullet train, which is an experience in itself. Amazing engineering, and an extremely reliable and comfortable (and fast!) way to travel.
Tony met us at the train station. On the way to the city he told us about the history of the area. He is very knowledgeable and passionate about his city.
We checked into our hotel, and Tony dropped us at the Tunxi Old Street which is an historic place and now a market area. We walked back along the waterfront to our hotel, which was very enjoyable as it was evening and the place was lit up colourfully. The area was very clean and tidy, and we felt perfectly safe. The people are friendly.
The follow two days was spent up Mt Huangshan, with Tony guiding us the entire time. Tony had very good knowledge of the areas to take us, and had plenty of stories to tell. We are a fit couple, and nearly wore him out with our walking! But he was great.
My Huangshan is truely spectacular. Amazing. We come from New Zealand, have toured various countries including USA but this was right up there in the top places we have visited. It’s a must see and a real ‘wow’.
We stayed overnight on the mountain. The hotel was nice, although we weren’t overly happy with the accomodation, with people smoking in the corridors despite the rules. But it didn’t dampen our enthusiasm for the place.
After exiting the mountain we stayed at the Pigs Inn at Bishan Village. This was a very old and quant place, and we loved it. We did a lot of biking, walking, and exploring. The people were very friendly, although on one occasion an old lady stepped out on to the street and gave us an obvious verbal growling - not sure what for. But we just smiled and waved and moved on. It didn’t worry us, we get it that perhaps not everyone is having a good day!
The next day we visited Hongcun Village, a world heritage site. Tony lead us through the maze of streets taking us to various building and giving us the histories. Without a guide, this would be difficult, and you would not gain the context of the place.
Overall we loved the city and the mountain. We highly recommend China as a place to visit, and you must go to Huangshan Mountain. A guide is truly worth it, and enhances the experience, and removes all worry from your day. They do all the planning, getting tickets, etc, and do everything to make your time the best time. Tony was fantastic and we highly recommend him and Travel China Guide. Tony’s Wechat ID is wxid_sds78xzvnsp22 and ph number +8618955904766
