Been back in the real world a couple weeks and still talking about this tour. The team really looked after us as soon as we arrived. Great equipment, amazing ride and our guide Sean was extremely knowledgeable. 5 stars.

Amazing host, and great experience! Highly recommend!!!
We had Mike take my daughter and I out. He taught us a lot about all the places we saw, the history, culture, and lifestyle in Kyoto. Mike was super friendly and entertaining. We stopped at an ice cream shop that was run by the sweetest lady with the best views too! We’ll definitely book this again when we go back!

      Amazing e-bike tour in Kyoto
Our experience was absolutely fantastic! This tour allowed us to explore the iconic Arashiyama Bamboo Grove district away from the usual tourist crowds. The tour guide Son was knowledgeable and passionate, providing insightful information about Kyoto's rich history, culture, and scenic beauty. I appreciated the small group size, with a maximum of 8 guests per tour, which ensured a safe and personalized experience. I highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Kyoto who wants to experience the city in a fun, educational, and eco-friendly manner. Oh and I forgot to mention the stop we did for ice cream. Best ice cream ever ❤️

      Fun way to see Kyoto
Great Trip! The bamboo forest was cool, but the Otagi Nenbutsu-ji temple visit was unique! The bikes work well. I just wanted to learn more about some of the places we went through.

Great tour with very knowledgeable local guide
Very much enjoyed this tour. Tour was very well planned, stopping at the bamboo forest ( which was very touristy, actually not that big, but still special and beautiful). Biked through back streets to avoid traffic and beautiful countryside seeing paddy fields, suburban houses and stopping at 2 temples: mystique Otagi Nenbutsu-ji temple and Toji-in temple. Guide was local, very enthusiastic, sharing lots of local knowledge about Japanese culture, values and lifestyle. Highly recommendable!!!

Diverse Landscapes and Knowledgable Tour Guide
We had an amazing experience doing this electric bike tour. Henry is as passionate about Kyoto as he is knowledgeable. His route took us from moments of zen at quiet temples, down picturesque side streets and bustling boulevards, and to the famous bamboo forest. He’s a decent photographer too! We loved every moment of our tour and wish we had time to do another with the same tour company. Best day of the trip so far!

      Kyoto Electric Bike Tour
Sean was an amazing guide and answered all our questions, as well as giving us wonderful recommendations for activities around Kyoto. The tour was such a unique and active way to experience Kyoto as you got to ride through smaller towns and residential areas, as well as seeing some of the most beautiful sites around the city. I would definitely recommend this tour!

      Great Tour
This tour was a highlight of our time in Kyoto. E bikes are a gift to those of us in our seventh decade, making a long bike ride effortless. Mike is an excellent tour leader, enthusiastic, friendly, and knowledgeable. He was aware of us at all times, so I felt safe even in a more trafficked area of the ride. We saw a few shrines, the bamboo forest, and some parts of Kyoto we would not have otherwise seen. To make the day even more perfect, the snack was matcha soft serve, one of my favorite snacks of all time (this might not always be the case…). Came home not too tired and very happy.

Arashiyama Bamboo Forest and Back streets of Kyoto with a fun, enthusiastic tour guide.
We did this tour on March 22, 2024. Michael Laurent took us on this tour. It quickly became apparent that he loved what he did and loved sharing the history of the city and his love of biking with people who visit. What a way to visit the city with a local. We enjoyed every moment of it. He started the tour by briefing us on what was ahead for the entirety of the tour and also stopped along the way to brief us regarding what to expect. It felt very safe riding with him. Regarding the tour itself, he stopped at Kitano Tenmangu, drove thro the back streets and went to Arashiyama Bamboo grove. We walked by Tenryu-ji Temple and he gave us a history about it. We went inside Nonomiya Shrine and he talked about Buddism and Shintoism. We then went to Otagi Nenbutsu-ji Temple, the temple with 1200 Rakan statues, its most unique feature. We then rode thro Saga and picked up some oranges from a local farm. Michael was a fun, enthusiastic tour guide. Will recommend him highly. Exceptional tour. Rode 13 miles with him. Bikes were in excellent condition.

      Awesome Experience. A must do
We did this tour with Michael. From the start it was obvious that Michael loved what he is doing. His infectious enthusiasm got us all excited. The group was small. The bikes were comfortable and we did not feel like we did 13 miles that day. Mike had great insights and historical details that he shared. We were in Kyoto for 4 days without this tour we would not have seen many places we visited that day. A must do in Kyoto. Would highly recommend

      Wonderful
Michael was wonderful, informative, funny, and attentive to the group. We felt safe in his hands even though we ride a bike once a year. He took us to off the beaten path, and we saw farmland. We rode through pine tree farm. Great time for us.

      Excellent tour guide, beautiful route!
One of my favourite tours I've experienced so far! Michael was very warm, welcoming and accommodating to each person in the group, making everyone feel included from the get go. He made it a very fun and interactive learning experience with fun facts and humorous story telling as he went through the history of each site. Michael always made sure everyone was informed of tricky roads and that we were okay along the way, with enough breaks and stops to appreciate the shrines and scenery. The route was a beautiful and scenic one, going through the more quaint and suburban neighborhoods of Kyoto on the way to the bamboo forest (thank you Michael for taking great photos for every one of us when we got there!). The country side was beautiful and a great view of the city could be seen at a distance as we rode along. Finally, the Otagi Nenbutsu-ji temple was as unique as it was fun to look at with the quirky statues, one of the highlights of this bike tour! Honorable mention to the great food recommendations from Michael as well, easily one of the best ramen I've ever tasted! Thank you for the enjoyable experience, would highly recommend.

Wonderful Trip around Kyoto was highlight of the Trip!
I went on the Bamboo Forest bike tour with some of my friends while we were in Kyoto. It was a cold day (it snowed on us while we were biking at one point) but the bike rides and views were so beautiful it made up for it. Our guide Mike was very knowledgeable, and answered any questions we had. We got to see some amazing sights, and it was the highlight of our two week trip!

If you are only in Kyoto for the weekend, this is the best way to see a little bit of everything! It's nice having a private tour guide who can teach you a little history about the places you see. Our tour guide, Sean was amazing and he even taught us the proper way to pray at the shrine! The bikes are super easy to ride and get used to, this was my first time ever using one and I had no problems. We would absolutely do this again. The only thing I would recommend is bringing a snack because we did the day tour and I got really hungry.

We booked the Noru e-bike tour to do something a little off the beaten path after battling with the hordes of other tourists at many other places in Japan. It far exceeded our expectations!

Yuta, our guide for the journey, was a perfect combination of fun, humor, and information. He doesn’t just lead you from destination to destination. Instead, he provides historical perspective with a touch of education on Buddhism and Shinto. It’s a way to better understand Japanese culture and beliefs and we all found it enlightening. He shares things that feel quite personal to him and we genuinely appreciated him for it.

The bicycles are great and add some excitement to the tour. Great to see that part of Kyoto while resting our protesting feet after walking so much the days before. If you can ride a bike, you’re good to go.

I won’t delve too much into the locations and leave it to your own discovery. They’re all interesting in their own way, and you will certainly learn more than you might expect.

TLDR: If you’re thinking about this tour, book it. Certainly a highlight of our trip to date! Thanks Yuta and maybe our paths will cross again!

This tour was the highlight of our trip, undoubtedly due to the fantastic guide we had in Henry.
I have never come across such a passionate person with a thirst for the truth and knowledge in every aspect of what he does.
Expectations were high on this tour and Henry delivered what I can only say is something that we will not forget for ever.
The tour had it ALL, we had heaps of fun, plenty of laughs, learnt an amazing amount of history about this beautiful city and I would highly recommend this to anyone and particularly if you are fortunate enough to get Henry as your guide.
Thank you team, thank you Kyoto and especially thank you to Henry.

Our Hidden Kyoto evoke Tour by NORU was excellent. Our local guide “Yuta” spoke very good English and gave us great insight into local history and culture of all the sites and areas we visited. Our family group ranged in age from 13 to early 50’s and we found the tour suitable for all ages. We visited an authentic old Geisha district (not Gion), rode to a beautiful shrine dedicated to wisdom and intellect, saw the breathtaking golden temple, through a secluded wooded area and lovely old residential neighborhoods and finally to a zen Buddhist compound with exquisite and peaceful zen gardens, where our guide led us through a calming meditation. The weather was fine during our ride, but was cold and windy towards then end, so if touring in winter months we suggest a light weight backpack and warmer layers in case needed (jacket, gloves & hats). The e-Bikes were new and in excellent condition, easy to operate, and Yuta gave us great tips as to best gears and power modes for each stage. Highly recommended experience for those who have a few days in Kyoto, have seen all the popular tourist destinations and are seeking a little more authenticity away from the crowds.

The business and start line seemed hard to get to at first and out of the way, so plan accordingly and be on time for your reservation. This is YOUR responsibility, not the tour or guide. Be diligent, don’t flake, and arrive early.

That said, once you do the tour the start and launch location makes perfect sense. I.e., awesome tour, it’s in a fabulous part of Kyoto, and the experience exceeded expectations.

PS - if you get him, Henry, the tour guide from the UK we had, is a baller (that’s American slang for the dude was awesome). The company that pays Henry to lead these bike tours needs to pay him even more $$.

Company owner - once/if Henry leaves you will have a heckuva time replacing a guy/guide like him. Without him it’s a totally different experience and I don’t think it will be the same quality for your customers. You have no idea what an employee gem you have in this dude.

This was overall a great tour through the backstreets of Kyoto, led by our great tourguide Yuta. He was very knowledgeable, personable, and helpful with recommendations for things to do after the tour was over. The bike route and stops were great except for one: the stop at Golden Temple during peak tourist hours. It was extremely crowded there and does not fit with the "hidden Kyoto" theme at all. I strongly recommend the tour operator to consider replacing this stop with something else- there are so many other hidden gems in this city! We explored the outskirts of the city later on thanks to the confidence Yuta gave us from this tour. Thanks man!

This was a great way to see North Kyoto! We didn't realize it when we arrived, but everything in Kyoto is more spread out and takes longer to get to compared to Tokyo; the bus system is also a little more complicated (and slower!) compared to the metro. Biking around was convenient and fun, and seeing the city whizzing by was pretty cool. Our guide, Yuta, was super friendly and knowledgable about the area - one of our travellers didn't have much experience on a bike, and he was very patient with her! We really appreciated him giving us more information about the history of the areas /shrines we visited, and we loved getting a taste of the local culture! Yuta also took the time afterwards to talk to us about additional local recommendations, and make sure we knew how to get to our next destination safely.

Loved this tour with Yuta! Even though it was pouring with rain, it was magical cruising around on the e-bikes to some of the most serene and tranquil temples and shrines you’ll ever see. The rain actually made the experience even better. We only saw a handful of other tourists, which made it feel very exclusive and more Japanese. Yuta was an excellent tour guide - he was very informative, funny and spoke perfect English. He was also always concerned about our comfort and safety. The little tea cafe he took us to was a delight. We would highly recommend this tour for anyone who wants to see some of the more secluded areas of Kyoto, learn about Japanese Shintoism and Buddhism, and enjoy the fresh air on a very easy to ride bike.

Thank you to our guide Michael for taking us on a very informative and fun tour of Kyoto and some of its ‘hidden’ gems! His knowledge of Japan was amazing.

We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and recommend this tour to any family that is keen to gain a better understanding of Japan and its amazing history and culture.

The bikes were great, although the ride itself is relatively flat and easy to navigate.

This was a great tour that really saved our experience in Kyoto. We had found the crowds at the main attractions in Kyoto some of the most stressful ones in our entire trip to Japan thus far. Cycling with a smaller group and getting a thorough explanation from our guide (as well as a written summary emailed to us of all of the things we saw) was so enjoyable and I felt like we got a more authentic experience compared to the standard tourist route in Kyoto. Our guide, Henry, was happy to dig in our our extra questions and spent more time than originally planned going over things that our group was interested in. It was also great to get to use an e-bike for the first time making the peddling very do-able for people who don't normally cycle.
