In Mauritius, there is but a single event, which can gather twenty thousand islanders in a particular spot once a week: horse racing. Every Saturday, round about noon, a surging mass of people flocks towards the Champ de Mars, the second oldest race course in the world.
Approximately every thirty minutes, a sweeping roar rises from Port-Louis as the pack makes its way into the final straight: Mauritius is at a stand still to listen to the Champ de Mars.
This sight is unique on the island and Crown Lodge invites you to watch the show in ideal conditions, whilst benefiting from the legendary Mauritian hospitality at its best.
Crown Lodge is an ideally situated box, right in front of the winning post, besides the V.I.P. balcony of the Mauritius Turf Club, with a direct view on the presentation ring: from choosing your favourite horse in the paddock to watching him fly first past the post, there are but a few steps to walk.
Throughout the day, you will be pampered: complimentary snacks and drinks, betting booth within the box, racing specialists to answer all your queries, crew of waiters ready to cater for your every need.
On top and above, Crown Lodge stands out by the atmosphere, which prevails: midway through the day enjoy the delicious ’faratas’, meet the racing professionals who regularly call at the box for a drink with the guests.
