- 168lindsayb0 contributionsGreat day with YukoYuko was an excellent host. She was easy to talk to and was able to efficiently navigate us through the city and many sites. She had great suggestions and was happy to answer our many questions. The tour of the Peace Museum was quite powerful and the Miyajima shrine was gorgeous. Highly recommend.Written 22 March 2025
- Anu S0 contributionsGreat guide in TokyoThe guide was personable and kind and knew local places to shop and eat which was helpful. We had a plan be communicated after discussion a couple of months in advance. And was very patient with us as we often stopped to shop and eat.Written 22 March 2025
- colinbK3944UH0 contributionsCool KobeMr Norio Oki was our enthusiastic guide who gave us an excellent introduction to Kobe. Met us at our hotel and during our 4 hours together we experienced The Ropeway, The Herb Garden, Perfume museum, journey on subway, Shinto Temple and how to pray and ring the bell, 1.2km shopping street, Chinatown and Harbourside as we prearranged. After all that a nice lunch together at the equivalent of a Yo-Sushi - we walked 16000 steps and all was very fine. What we really liked about Nori was his photo taking of us at special places. Lovely chap.Written 22 March 2025

- montesano170 contributionsOne of a kind experience in HiroshimaYoshiko exceeded our every expectation on this tour. Starting from the amount of time she took going through multiple iterations of our itinerary to make sure it was perfect, and then hand guiding us through travel arrangements when we were there, she went above and beyond. Her knowledge gave us additional perspective that we never would have had on our own, and her persistence coming up with a perfect plan allowed us to experience everything we wanted to do in Hiroshima even with a time crunch. To top it all off, she was extremely friendly and personable, and a joy to be around. I would highly recommend her to anyone going to Hiroshima.Written 21 March 2025

- Sherpa5848030 contributions4 Hour Private Tour of Tokyo with FummyWe had a wonderful tour with our guide Fummy! He was friendly, engaging, and eager to be of assistance. Fummy contacted us shortly after we booked our tour and asked us what three or four points of interest we would like to visit in Tokyo. He gave us some suggestions we might choose. I wanted to include in our tour places where I thought we might miss important details if we tried to go by ourselves. I chose the Tsujiki Fish Market, the Imperial Palace, and Meiji Jingu Shrine. Fummy made a proposed itinerary and sent it to me for approval. During our tour Fummy gave us tips for navigating the trains and subways. At the fish market, he explained the various items and suggested food that we might try. At the imperial Palace he gave us the historical context of the palace. At Meiji Jingu Shrine he explained the customs and points of interest. We ended the tour with lunch in Harajuku. Prior to the tour we had purchased JR trains tickets for the subsequent legs of our trip. We had a few questions that the JR agent couldn’t adequately explain to us. Fummy was happy to check the tickets for us and explain what we would need to do on each future leg of our trip. He was very helpful! We thoroughly enjoyed our tour with Fummy and recommend him highly!Written 21 March 2025
- AndrewN9160 contributionsA Perfect Bespoke TourSami was a wonderful guide. After we booked the trip, Sami contacted me to ask what we wanted to see. My mother and I had so much fun touring Takayama with Akane (Annie)! We met her at the station where she took us to the morning market. As we explored the market she explain some of the items being sold such as the Sarubobo dolls and some local snacks. The large Buddhist temple (Hilda Kokubun-ji) was breathtaking and the story associated with the ancient ginkgo tree on the property was hilarious. Akane explained the town’s famous Sanno and Hachiman festivals, what they were about and most importantly the beautiful Yatai floats. We walked the old merchant area, sampling miso and delicious croquets. Spending the day with Akane was like hanging out with a friend! When we decide to come back to Japan we will definitely be reaching back out to Akane to visit Takayama in the warmer months!

My family and I (9 people) has spent a day in Takayama with Akane Ito. She is very kind and thorough and during our day together, she showed us many interesting things - ranging from historical attractions to small local shops, and even a great barber.
Her English is very good and she told us many interesting local stories during the day.
Even though our group ranged from small children to seniors, she created a day in such a way that it was interesting for everyone involved.
We ended the day at her husbands restaurant, it had great food and a nice authentic atmosphere
We warmly recommend a day in Takayama with Akane Ito.

This was hands down the best private tour we have ever had. Mitsu gave 200% to ensure we had the most amazing day and she is an unbelievable guide. She provided a hand written guide book at our hotel the day before which must have taken hours. We had a personalized itinerary based on our interests. She went way above and beyond to ensure this was a spectacular experience. If you take this tour, I 100% recommend specifically requesting Mitsu!! He English was amazing and she took extra care in explanations and really gave us the best sense of Japanese culture.

Dear Guests,
Thank you so much for taking part in our tour.
Although it was nearly 30 degrees Celsius hot, I was very happy to see you walking around so cheerfully and energetically.
It was a fun day for me as well.
Coincidentally, on the day of the tour, the Hida Soja festival was being held in the center of the city, and it was great fun to see the lovely lion dance. It was a precious once-a-year opportunity.
I was so happy that you tried to get to know my hometown Takayama and were interested in its culture.
There are still many more places I would like to show you and I sincerely look forward to seeing you again. I will do my best to make your tour more enjoyable.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your wonderful comment.

Mitsubishi, our guide, was excellent!
She was very knowledgeable about Takayama&Japan history! She was flexible to add a tea tasting mid tour to our request, Mitsubishi had a great vetsatile itinirary for us, that involved a special beautiful old tree, pagoda, shrine, river walk, market, lunch, and an important gov building at the end. We learned a lot! She also left us the day before we arrived some local maps and personal welcome note, which was very lovely. Ger English was very goid too.
We would highly recommend Mitsu as a guide!!!
Thank you! We learned and enjoyed the tour with you a lot! ;) Nora from Canada

Thank you very much for taking part in the tour. The weather was fine, and as befits a national holiday, there were fun traditional events being held all over the place. I am very glad that you were able to see so much of it.
I also learned a lot from your talk about social matters and even nutrition. Thank you very much for your kindness.
In my hometown of Takayama, you can enjoy more beautiful scenery in each of the four seasons.
We are looking forward to welcoming you and your family again.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Incredibly interesting tour with Lily. My children aged 13 and 17 were immediately very comfortable. Lily opened a temple for us and took us to different places in Takayama allowing us to make the most of our day there. She did everything to make us feel good, adapted to our pace and interests and answered all of our eldest's very specific questions. I highly recommend!

I also had a great day with you and your nice family. Especially, your sons gave me interesting questions. It was my pleasure to answer for their questions.
Also I was very surprised that your elder son knows well about Japanese history and culture.
Please come again to Japan! I look forward to seeing you again.(^-^)/

We were so pleased to have Elvis as our guide for the 4 hour Takayama tour. Our trip was preplanned and organised efficiently. The morning markets were excellent followed by the Sanmachi Suki old town where we learnt about Sake and Hida beef. After a short bus ride to the Hida Minzoka Mura Folk Village there was time to explore and gain a good understanding of what life was like many years before.
Elvis was extremely knowledgeable and professional. We enjoyed spending time and learning from him.
Thanks Elvis.

Our morning tour around the old centre of Takayama with Annie was excellent. She is a great guide, and whilst we had selected the places we wanted to visit, she organised the route so that we would see as much as possible in the time allowed. Very friendly and extremely informative .

What really stood out was the thorough preparation of Mitsu, our guide. She communicated often before the tour to customize the itinerary. When we arrived into town, Mitsu had a huge portfolio of maps, brochures and welcoming materials waiting for us at the front desk—we’ve never had that before. Mitsu tweaked the tour as we progressed to accommodate things we saw of interest. She is a great guide.

Dear guests,
Thank you very much for taking part in our tour and for your review.
I am very happy to be able to visit various tourist spots with you in fine weather.
Since you told me what you liked, it was easy for me to make recommendations and I was able to discover many things as well.
I really wanted to take you to the tourist facilities that Takayama City is proud of, such as Takayama Jinya and Hida-no-sato, but unfortunately we did not have enough time.
If you have a chance to visit Takayama again, I would be happy to guide you again.
Please give my best regards to the lovely cats at home and to your neighbors.
Thank you so much!

Annie was an excellent tour guide. She showed us a lot of local things we may not have otherwise seen, like hidden temples, ancient trees and delicious treats from local food vendors (a special shout out to the custard guy at the morning markets!). Annie paced the guide perfectly and was happy to work with our interests and stop whenever we needed to pop into a lovely local shop. I would highly recommend this tour with Annie, we had a really lovely time.
