What to Expect


After meeting your tour guide at a central location, your action-packed culinary and cultural tour of Takayama begins. You’ll learn all about the history of Takayama and why its isolated location led to such an interesting culture forming here.

You’ll visit a sake brewery to learn how Japan’s signature drink is made. There will be no time to get hungry, as you’ll visit a variety of eateries to taste samples during the tour, including a miso maker and a local restaurant.

A wonderful introduction to Takayama

Miyuki was a fantastic guide. She shared so much information with us. We really enjoyed tasting various foods and sake, and meeting the people who produce them. A very good tour.

I think it was about 2hours including a stop for hot chocolate in a cafe. I believe it gives the duration of each tour on their website.
