This tour can be done between the main Silk Road cities of Samarkand and Bukhara so you will explore off the beaten treks of Uzbekistan while traveling from one city to the other rather than just traveling long distances. Sayyod Yurt Camp is a good starting point for short and medium length hikes. It is also a great place to unwind if you have seen too many mosques and madrassas in the Silk Road cities.

Book This Tour! One of Our Favorites!
This tour was one of the highlights of our trip to Uzbekistan. Ikrom our driver and Sardor our tour guide were amazing! They were friendly and informative and hanging out with them was like spending time with dear friends. They’re the best. I highly recommend taking a few days between Bukhara and Samarkand and visiting the rural side of this amazing country. You’ll see friendly local villagers on donkeys, beautiful mountains, and if you do the hike, 2,500 year old petroglyphs. If you even have a passing interest in rural life or getting off the beaten path, this tour is a must! Only wish we had done a few more days. Oh, and Ulugbeck’s guest house is welcoming and comfortable. We even had an en suite bathroom!

          Amazing Experience
Our 3-day horse-riding tour in the Nuratau Mountains with our guide Alibek was an unforgettable experience. The entire trip was seamlessly organized, with everything running smoothly from start to finish. The guesthouses where we stayed were a highlight—beautiful, cozy, and the perfect place to relax. The food was absolutely delicious, homemade, and traditional, giving us a true taste of local cuisine every day. They even provided an extra dish because I am a vegetarian. The horses were in excellent condition, strong, and well-trained, making us feel safe and comfortable throughout the journey. The scenery in the Nuratau Mountains was breathtaking. Alibek Bazarov was an outstanding guide—knowledgeable, friendly, and patient. His passion for the region and its culture added so much to the experience. If you're looking for a perfect combination of nature, adventure, and warm hospitality, I highly recommend this tour!

professional, kind and responsive travel agency and an amazing tour of beautiful Uzbekistan 😊
Nuratau responsible travel Uzbekistan is a great travel agency. They organized for my family and myself a tailored week in Tashkent, Bukhara and Samarkanda. All guides were very knowledgeable, kind and taking care and the drivers always very professional and on time. The agency personnel always extremely nice and responsive. We loved the tour and we would like to thank you for this unforgettable experience in your beautiful country 😊

Best combination of culture/history and nature
This tour was the perfect combination of culture/history and nature. Sherzod met us at the hotel when we arrived. From then on, all transportation and meet ups with guides worked out without a glitch. We didn't have to worry about anything. We learnt so much about Uzbekistan and its people and accomodation varied from hotels to tents and homestays. We really enjoyed this tour and totally recommend it.

          Immersive Chimgan Mountains hiking
We did a 5 day Chimgan Mtn hike. Nuratau Travel were a pleasure to deal with, we completely customised our trip without issues. For context I am a 30yo male with quite a bit of hiking experience with my girlfriend of the same age. This hike was stunning and the food our guides cooked was incredible. Our guides were also incredibly friendly and accommodating. We elected to carry our bags but they could easily have been put on the three donkeys that accompanied. Be prepared for a few things; it was quite unclear the route we would take and it significantly differed from the itinerary, this was a constant conversation and point of confusion as we were given options and they always seemed to change, not a huge deal. It appeared the wet weather company policy was quite conservative, enduring 10 minutes of rain resulted in a decision to hike all the way out the same day on day 3. Gear would've dried in the afternoon at camp without issues as it didn't rain again that day. We stayed at our donkey Sheppard's house which was lovely. Overall an awesome experience and would do it again, just helpful to be aware of the things I mentioned.

My wife and I loved it there
All the crew are very hospitable at all time day and night. The mountain guide is well versed into the terrain there with deep knowledge of the history of the place. As June is a hot month there, perhaps adding a number of chase longue around the pool is not a bad idea.

          We loved it!
I have booked a tour with them twice and both experiences have been exceptional, thanks primarily to the staff. The first time, I stayed in Sentob for 3 days. Both the driver and the guide, Alibek (whose knowledge of the local fauna and flora was commendable), as well as Rahima's family, were very kind and generous to us. Rahima's food, in particular, was excellent. On this second trip, the experience has been amazing. We greatly enjoyed everything we visited and experienced over these two days in the desert: the villages, the ruins, the yurts, a stunning sunset from atop a dune, excellent food (with very good vegetarian options), Lake Aydarkul, among others. Ikrom, our guide, was the highlight of the trip. He is an exceptional professional with a friendly, cordial, and polite demeanor. We had a lot of fun with him and he was always attentive to all our needs. I highly recommend this experience and I am sure I will repeat it with them.

Uzbekistan.. a wonderful under appreciated country
Our trip was a 6 day guided walking tour and independent travel in Uzbekistan. What a wonderful country! From the majestic Bukhara and Samarkand to the Nurata hills .. nothing disappointed. Nurata travel were great.. helpful with changes to our schedule and understanding of our desire to see hills less traveled. I would strongly recommend

Desert and Nuratau Mountain trek in May
In May my husband and I did a wonderful four-day trek: 2 days in the desert (with yurt stay) and two days in the beautiful Nuratau mountains, with stays in guest houses. The desert and yurt stay were really fascinating, and the hikes in the Nuratau mountains were one of the highlights of our stay in Uzbekistan. Our guides Ikrom and Alibek were both excellent: they took excellent care of us and kept everything running smoothly. Nuratau Travel was utterly professional from beginning to end. Highly recommended.

          Great Chimgan trek in May
We had a wonderful time on the Chimgan trek in May, despite bad rain. Our guide, Sardor, was great: when he saw that it was going to rain, he planned an alternate route and made sure that we kept safe and (relatively) dry. The route is beautiful and makes a nice break from the cities, and Nuratau Travel was utterly professional from start to finish. Highly recommended.

We went on a two day horse rides in the mountains and really enjoyed our experience. The homestead was lovely, their hosts very welcoming, the guide was highly knowledgeable and interesting, and the driver very professional. We will keep wonderful memories of our trip and will definitely recommend it to our friends.

          Wonderful experience
Our one day private tour to the Desert Castles from Khiva has been everything we hoped for, the guide Ms. Shakhnoza has been very precise and explained everything with patience and accuracy. Mr. Bakhtiyor, our driver, participied to our conversation too and helped us to understand uzbek culture. The food was so tasty, but be careful with how much you order because the portions are quite big! Overall a great way to spend a whole day outside the city! Thank you also to Ms. Sevinch who helped us through the organization! Totally recommended!!

Uzbekistan well worth more than a week visit!
Most groups travel to Uzbekistan for only a week or so. We chose to spend two weeks because we wanted to see more of the country. Nuratau travel organized everything to perfection. From airport pick up to transfers throughout the country to the guides assistance. Two yurt camps, one family stay and excellent hotels. Amazing hospitality . In the cities we had the best guides to walk us through sites, museums and shops. We could not have done it on our own and , had we come with a large tour we would have missed the personal attention. Uzbekistan is a wonderful country, rich in history, culture, languages , natural products and landscapes.

Had an excellent stay in Sayyod Yurt camp and Uleg Bek’s homestay in Uhum village. I have written an extensive review of the yurt camp separately. Suffice to say this will likely be the highlight of our two weeks in Uzbekistan. The company itself are very easy to deal with, are very responsive and so far have delivered on all their promises and our expectations. I really like that they reinvest money into the local economy and many of their employees live in the area where the tours take place. Tours are great value by UK standards and would recommend to others

I actually did a 2 nights in a yurt in the Nurata mountains with 1 day of a lovely 7 hours hike and the other went to see the Aydar lake and some remains of the fortress of Alexander the Great.
I would definitely recommend this tour because not only it was lovely to see also the beautiful nature of Uzbekistan, stay in a yurt, enjoy peace and quiet. But also because you can get overwhelmed by the sightseeing from 1 place to the other and tired without the time to process what you see. So its a perfect break between wonderful Bukhara to beautiful Samarkand.
I also appreciated the gr3ar professionals i spoke to via WhatsApp to join the trip. Always available and kind. Also the kindness of everyone from the driver to the yurt camp employees.

As a family with 6 adult children, we booked the trip to the mountains with Nuratau Travel and everything went wonderfully. During the planning phase, Sherzod gave us individual and flexible advice. All transfers were punctual and comfortable. The accommodations were beautiful and very authentic. Our guides Sardor and Alibek were very personable, committed and competent - we had a great hike and learned a lot about life in this region of Uzbekistan.

The tour was a very nice desert break between visiting the beautiful cities of Samarkand and Bukhara.

My guide was ikram and he was excellent. Took care of everything I needed and explained only as much as I wanted to hear, haha. Even though we had rainy weather on the first day, he was able to make sure that I still saw everything the next day.

Was fun to spend the night in a yurt and then hike around the desert in the morning and also ride a camel!

Meals were very good, particularly enjoyed lunch on the first day in a charming home courtyard setting.

Company was responsive and helpful in emails before the trip. Would definitely recommend.

A fantastic and highly recommend activity, that made a very welcome break away from staying in silk road cities. The yurt camp has a great tranquil vibe, the staff are friendly, we went on some great hikes of the surrounding mountains and our guide (Silbar) was fantastic, full of local knowledge. After 2 days at the yurt camp, we went on to stay a night in Uhum village including hiking in the surrounding area.

I can't speak English very well, but they were so kind and helpful every time. I've never been like this place. We could stay at Yurt camp, have Uzbek natural food, hike the mountains. The mountain view was like a scene in a movie. It was silent and peaceful. Cows and goats, sheep are everywhere. I think dinner and lunch are better than restaurants in the city. They served many kinds of Uzbekistan food, like fried rice, soups, salad with fresh ingredients. (My favorite is chicken soup). Travel time was over 3 hours from Samarkand to Sayord, and there were about 3 kilometers off-load near the camp. It made us a little tired. However, the driver was very kind and gave us information about the old cities. His driving was safe and careful. If I can come to Uzbekistan again, I want to stay in this perfect place again.

We did an individual 3-day-tour based on our wishes and Nuratau Travel recommendations, including Sayyod Yurt Camp, Ulugbek guesthouse in Uhum, Yahshigul guesthouse in Asraf and hikes around and between these.
Everything was perfectly planned and taken care of. The contact to the agency was easy. On site our guides Sardor and Alibek were extremely friendly and very competent. The guesthouses were perfect and their owners so friendly and lovely. We loved the trip in every details and can recommend it totally.

We had a wonderful stay in the Yurt Camp! Our driver picked us up in Samarkand and drove us to Sayyod Yurt Camp. Because of the low season we were the only guests in the yurt camp. The hike with our gide was amazing! We had also a great breakfast, lunch and dinner! And even though we were alone at the camp, we could do the bonfire in the evening.

We had a perfect experience, and had a very good (english speaking) driver/guide! He was very friendly!
