About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- juergenk6430 contributionsOverall very good experienceVery reliable company, everything worked very well from the initial information request through to drop off at hotel after the Mount Meru hike, good mountain guide (Gideon), good cook (Samual), good and friendly porters, good team spirit in the Rupia Adventure team, good and safe driver. Based an my personal experience I would like to recommend Rupia Adventures for hiking Mount Meru.Written 2 October 2024
- S6866SQleap0 contributionsGreatWe had a great experience hiking up Mount Meru! Our guide, Laurent and the entire crew took great care of us and made sure we made it safely to the summit. The trek was better than we expected and we can really recommend!Written 26 September 2024
- A493VIkatarzynac0 contributionsEnglish problemsMy hike was last minute, so it is nice that Rupia Adventure organised it just a day in advance. However, I did not like a few things. The owner gave the focus-on-money impression. Before the hike he suggested the exact amounts of tips for the crew. These were really high as I paid for the hike 800$ already. My guide was technically okay, but spending time with him was difficult. He was not able to speak good English. Did not understand my questions and did not share any stories why other guides were entertaining their clients a lot. There were communication issues. He was not flexible. At the end he told me that actually he does not like to hike Meru... so why to take the offer?Written 24 September 2024
- 370leonf0 contributionsAwesome DayhikeAfter an incredible 4-day Mount Meru hike with Gideon, we couldn’t resist booking a Kilimanjaro day hike with him. It was another great experience! The day hike offered a breathtaking rainforest and a fantastic taste of Kilimanjaro’s grandeur. I have to admit i lost my camera near the top and only realized it near the foot after a full day of hiking. Gideon literally turned around and ran the whole way back to check for my camera. Our driver who was waiting at the bottom was also helping and made some calls to the top but unfortunately it seems like it got taken. Still i apprechiate all the dedication. If you decide to do this hike, this should definitely be your team!Written 13 September 2024
- 370leonf0 contributionsAwesome Tour - Awesome TeamOur 4-day hike up Mount Meru was unforgettable, thanks to our amazing guide Gideon. Gideon’s deep knowledge and enthusiasm for the mountain made the trek both informative and enjoyable but he also knew when to give us some space. His careful planning and encouragement ensured a smooth and safe adventure. The pace was perfect and adjusted for my family's fitness. I also have to mention the cook - Samorra made special vegetarian meals just for me so he essentially had twice the work. i felt a bit bad but noone ever complained and im happy they cared about my needs. It was a pleasure to have such tasty and varied food on the trail. I can also recommend Laurent - he was our "co guide". He carried some of the things, supported us on the final ascent and even made us tea.Written 13 September 2024
- 370leonf0 contributionsGreat Ride! The car was clean, the driver was on time, very friendly and able to share some information about the country if apprechiated but also knew to leave us some space after the long flights.Written 13 September 2024
- 212helgef0 contributionsA great day at KilimandscharoWe had a wonderful day with Gideon from Rupia and Wolfgang ( a student from guide school). We went through the rain forest , an amazing scenery. A big compliment to Gideon, he is a great guide. He gives everything for his clients. Thank you for this beautiful day.Written 11 August 2024
- 212helgef0 contributionsA reliable airport transferThe airport transfer from Kilimandscharo Airport to our Hotel in Arusha and at the end of the holiday in the other direction worked perfectly. The driver was a nice guy and the car was nearly new. The company is reliable, the schedule was right.Written 11 August 2024
- helgef6220 contributionsVery reliable taxi transferA review for a taxi transfer? Good cars, english speeking driver and the morst important topic: punctuality. Our driver was 10 Minitues before the agreed time at the airport and at the end of our Tanzania journey at our hotel. No waiting for the taxi - everthing perfect.Written 11 August 2024
- helgef6220 contributionsNice trip through rain forest.Amazing tour to Mandara Hut through rain forest. 900 high meter but easy to hike (not very speep). We booked this tour for our last day of our Tanzania journey at Rupia Adventure because we had 10 days earlier best experiences with Rupia at the 4 day Mt. Meru hiking trip. We were very satisfied with Rupia and we ordered the same guide Gidion because we were thrilled about his guiding and this amazing "friend". Nice trip, a taste of Kili, full day service from Rupia and best guide ever - good combination.Written 11 August 2024
- helgef6220 contributionsAmazing tour with best team from Rupia AdventureVery impressive trip with Rupia Adventure. We booked and payed direct from Germany to Rupia for the Mt. Meru Tour. We were a little afraid because of prepaying a lot of money direct to Africa to a little (for us unknown) company. Absolutely unfoundet. This company is absolutely trustworthy! Very fast reaction if you have questions via WhatsApp. An introducing the day bevore our trip started in our Hotel incl. checking of our hiking equipment was done with the complete team together with the Rupia boss Mat. This check makes sense because the Mt. Meru is 4500 m high. Our guide Gidion made this trip to an unforgettable experience for us. He always knew the right hiking speed, had a hot tea available in 4000m hight at night and ran nearly 1000 high meter extra for us to find our forgotten camera at the summit (unbelievable – thank you for that Gidion). He is only present if you need him. He is not alway present at hiking so that you can walk alone or with friends. We needed a guide and no entertainer and Gidion has a perfect feeling for he right measure of presence. The 2‘nd guide (and porter, and waiter) Laurent und the cook Samoa have done their jobs in a perfect way, too. Best food for vegetarian und non vegeterians – thank you guyes for your support. This was the best hiking team we could imagine. We were so satisfied with Rupia and Gidion that we booked a second hiking trip at Kilimanjaro for one day at the end of our Tanzania jouney. Same experience und satisfaction as first trip. One topic eyerybody should know and understnad if you think about a Tansania trip with hiking or safari guiding. You need some money for the tips. For a hiking trip a team exists of the guide, cook, and some porters + a Ranger at Mt. Meru because of animals. We started with 3 members of my family with no more guests in our team. In this case you have to (you should) carry the tips for he complete team on your own. These tips are part of he earnings of the team and this is common in Tanzania and has nothing to do with Rupia. You should calculate several 100 Dollars for that. If you don’t want to pay this tip, you shouldn’t book trips in Tansania. There is no differnt to safary trips and no different to other companies, but hiking is more tip expensive because of he bigger team in comparision to safary. Summary: The little Company Rupia ist trustwoth and has good service. Our team was amazing. We were very satisfied with the service and the complete tour. If you want to have a perfect team ask for Gidion (guide), Laurent (2’nd guide) and Samoa (cook) and than enjoy…Written 11 August 2024
- educationa4220 contributionsAmazing tripThe trip was amazing. Matt organized everything very well and Michael was a great driver and guide. The animals were beautiful and the scenery lovely. We recommend highly.Written 1 August 2024
- 516marrk0 contributionsMemorable SafariI never dreamed our safari would be as awesome as it was! And thanks go to our Rupia Adventure driver/guide - Mirage. Mirage seemed to have an intuitive sense when it came to finding animals...even the elusive ones, like the rhino, cheetahs, and leopards. He has been a safari guide for 23 years, yet he seemed genuinely as excited to see the animals as we were! We saw pretty much every animal living there; we saw the Big-Five many times over! Zebra's, wildebeast, giraffe, hyenas, lions, cheetah, leopard, rhino, hippo, elephants, birds of all kinds, warthog, fox, turtle, crocs, monkeys, and more! We saw animals eating other animals, animals fighting, playing, sleeping, eating, and animals mating. If you are going to Africa for a safari and want a guarantee that you will see lots of animals, then book with Rupia Adventure ...and ask for Mirage!Written 27 June 2024
- 516marrk0 contributionsSummit SuccessfullyJust back from my greatest adventure ever! Everything was organized so nice and smooth I can’t even think of things to work on. Matt, the owner of the company, is a great person and will do everything he can to sort out any problem even if it’s not related to the trip itself... My friend had an issue with his passport and Matt did everything to help him... The trip program was very great including the sites we have visited. Camp life was a bit rough for us, but at the end of the day it was a good experience (especially in comparison to other camps we saw on the mountain). The food was fantastic... the chef knows how to prepare real soul food just like home! The greatest was our mountain guide Gideon...I highly recommend him, he has lots of knowledge and experience and many many stories to tell... thank you again Gideon and thank you to Matt as well.Written 27 June 2024

I met with main Tour coordinator of Rupia Adventure who well communicated on spot ,and he was arranged optimum tour with my easy budget more than an expectations ,all the services they were giving me was awesome.
They provided me with what they promised even more further than that and guide always free to response and good eyes catching wherever anything go around , he's knowledgeable and experience.
In addition I can't wait to hiring Rupia Adventure for my Kilimanjaro and Meru climbs before end of year 2020.

Overall I had a great trip with Rupia. Matt and our Guide were very friendly and supportive during my stay. The accommodation we slept in also had every night a performance of locals, which was entertaining. I wished the guide would have told us more about the landscape we drove through and animals we saw. However, he is a very secure driver and drove us to all the great spots, at which enabled us to see many animals. This just as a side note. From my point of view, you could skip Lake Manyara. You will see plenty of animals in both national parks Ngorongoro and Tarangire. Therefore, a 2 day trip is totally sufficient. For solo travelers, speaking French is a plus, as they have many French customers. Please be aware, that the company is kinda new to business and therefore not yet fully organized and setup. #hakuna matata PassingWonders (Travel Blogger)

My friend and I had the best experience going with rupia for a three day safari.
We had the absolute BEST guide in Mirage, who made us feel very safe, relaxed and well informed from the beginning. He was so patient with us two silly danish girls, he told us so many valuable things with his great knowledge of wildlife and nature, and he took us around safely (as the great driver he is even on bumpy roads!) and he did his absolute best to give us the best experience of seeing many beautiful sights and animals while still having respect for their privacy in the wild. He went way over the top for us and we couldn’t have asked for anything more!
The place we stayed was beautiful, we loved the rural tent experience and we had an amazing cook who made us feel full all day long. We couldn’t recommend it enough!

The safari tour to Tanzania was booked in advance. We flew to Arusha, where our safari guide waited for us with a name plate. He was unfortunately a bit ill, so he organized, to cheange him. At a gas station, our new guide was waiting for us. It was a very good decision, we loved our new guide. And then started for the first national park. In 3 days we were in 3 national parks, Tarangire, Ngorongoro and last day Lake Manyara. Each National Park is famous for something else, so we selected it to see everything (elephants, giraffes, lions, monkeys, hippo, zebras, wildebeests, buffalos, rhinoceros and countless birds). We spent the nights in the same luxury campsite, the Safari Company's own accommodation. The tents are in a huge wooded garden with small winding paths between them. The staff waited us every day with fresh friut juices, and the food was impeccable. Our guide responded immediately to all of our requests, dealt with just us within 3 days, and answered all of our questions. For
anyone who goes to the other end of the world, it's a sin to miss out a safari tour,it was a lifelong, indescribable experience.

We booked a short safari (3 days) through Rupia Adventure, and their representative Matt was very helpful in setting up custom portions of our trip. They looked after us from the time we landed in ARK at 3 AM, maybe too well as with the excellent food on safari we were putting on weight, and looking to pitch in to get active! We did the comfy camping, in which we slept on cots in a canvas dome tent. Very comfortable, and it was great to be out where animals could travel by as you slept. Joseph, our guide, had an uncanny ability to know where to find game and spot it, and maintains high standards of conduct with respect to wildlife. He is friendly and knowledgeable, an excellent guide. We had our own cook Salehe, who was a master at putting together delicious and nutritious meals. We saw the big 5, as well as cheetah, hippo, and crocs, wildebeest and zebras migrating and fording rivers, a lion kill right in front of us, and an epic lions vs hyenas confrontation over a kill. A lifetime of experiences in just over a week.

The 3 parks were mesmerizing. We saw most of the animals and the landscapes, especially at Ngorongoro crater were breathtaking. From the beginning to the end, the service we received from Rupia Adventures was professional and friendly : they did everything they could to make us feel confortable and to be able to enjoy to the max our trip. A special thanks to Erastos our tour guide who was so energectic and to the owner.

I was traveling solo through Africa and tried to find options to see a range of the noteworthy parks of northeast Tanzania. Rupia offered a perfect package for this. Especially finding something as an individual at a reasonable price was difficult as many companies book private safari. Matt planned everything including lodging and airport transfers. Even helped me store some extra luggage I had before setting out. He grouped me with other travelers which was great to meet others as we set out on the three day safari. Our guide Andrew was incredible and found us all the wildlife as we went through the three parks. He knew every answer to questions and knew the parks like the back of his hand. We had amazing run ins with elephant and lion very close. Will never forget it

It was an amazing experience. We booked the 4 day safari going to Tarangire, Serengeti and Ngorongo Crater. We saw a lot of animals and even a hunt which is quite rare to see. Matt the owner is really good in organising everything and the communication went smoothly. Our driver Erasto was the best guide we could have asked for, amazing conversations with him made our trip even more memorable. The food was prepared by Omari who was our cook during the whole safari and let me tell you he was amazing. Every single meal was thought through, really tasty and different. Thank you Matt, Erasto and Omari for making our trip to Tanzania better that we could have imagined.

Did a 3-day safari with this company and it was worth every minute!!
Day1 to Lake Manyara, day2 to Ngorongoro Crater and day3 to Tarangire Park.
We could see a lot of animals even on low season.
Our Guide (Mirage) was amazing, always trying to show us the most animals possible and explaining a lot about them and the ecosystem. He knows the place like everyone and is very kind and helpful.
About the food, we had luck to have David as the cooker! He is the best safari cooker. Always traditional food and super delicious!
About Matt, the Host, always helpfull and trying to give us a perfect experience!!
I hope to do another one soon with all of you again!! Super recommend
Best regards to all of you!!!

We had a wonderful 3-day Safari experience with Rupia Adventures. The communication via WhatsApp and overall organization was perfect. After arrival in Arusha Matt brought us to the Mvuli Hotel. From here we started next morning to Tarangire National Park with hundreds of animals. The Ngorongoro Crater was even more amazing due to the fantastic landscape. The final day we spend at Lake Manyara National Park. A special thanks to our guide Benny, who not only has been very knowledgeable about everything we have been interested in but also is a very friendly and open minded person showing. Unfortunately we had a car breakdown which needed to be fixed in a garage. But even here Benny was perfect in organizing everything for us.
