The food we made was delicious and I will definitely cook the dishes at home when I miss India and Udaipur so much again. A wonderful experience, I would love to come back!Written 3 April 2024
- 895carolynr0 contributionsExcellent Experience in a HomeThis was an excellent experience and we highly recommend it. Gotham and his mom Mamta are very warm and friendly and you take the class in their home. You cook a lot of dishes but it’s also the right amount of time.Written 1 February 2024
- danielbK4156TO0 contributionsTons of fun! Dragged my boys to Mamta's cooking class and they loved it!Had a cooking class with Mamta yesterday with my wife and my two teenage sons (one was the same age as Mamta's nephew, so they had a chance to compare life as eight graders!). Great class! We all have a new appreciation for the amount of work it takes to make an amazing Indian meal.Written 27 November 2023

- annapereiram0 contributionsAmazing cooking class and delicious recipes! One of the most amazing experiences i’ve done in my trip to India! This was a very hands on, extensive experience. We talked through preferences to pick out the menu, were involved in all parts of the process (including cutting the ingredients, stirring, making our own naan/chapati), received so many tips and recipes, and overall had an amazing experience. Highly recommend - you even get to eat all you cook!Written 1 November 2023
- Gabi P0 contributionsAmazing cooking classThe experience was amazing. We were able to learn so many tricks about cooking Indian food. They were super friendly and were able to help with all questions we had. I would recommend this experience to anyone who want to try and learn some new cuisine.Written 1 November 2023
- Ilya K0 contributionsSo friendly and so informative! The best cooking class we've had. It was very personal and very detailed, so we really got to learn all the details of cooking several dishes. My favourite part was making the roti directly on top of the gas stove. We cooked an entire meal and it was delicious. Mamta and her son Gautam were extremely welcoming and friendly and the conversation never stopped flowing.Written 26 August 2023
- alizaherbst0 contributionsThe best cooking class everThe young man, 𝙶𝚊𝚞𝚝𝚊𝚖, who was in touch with us before we got to India was very nice and kept in touch whenever we contacted him. We requested a cooking class for our family of 6, including 2 teenagers and he was fine with it, for a very reasonable price. His very sweet Mom gave good instruction and showed us how to do everything. We chopped and kneaded and stirred and made incredibly tasty food. A very hands on class. Even our smallest child, 7 years old, cooked and had a great time. The 3 hour class turned into 3 1/2 and we sat down to a very yummy meal. The people couldn’t have been nicer! Highly recommended!Written 13 April 2023
- dondonal0 contributionsHighly recommendedAbsolutely brilliant cooking class. We learned so much from Mamta and Gautam who were absolutely brilliant hosts. From making Masala tea, to making all different types of Indian breads, and several main courses, this is the best cooking class of any kind that I've ever done. Highly recommended!Written 13 March 2023
- DaiBroitman930 contributionsTotally recommendedI had Mamta class as soon as I arrived in India. It was at her place, everything was so clean and tidy. When we arrived, they went through the menu we choose, explaining us what was every dish about. The explanations were clear and easy to take. We cooked the food and we finalised the class eating the dishes. Also, they sell the spices we use for cooking; they were overpriced. I paid a third for the same thing.Written 21 February 2023

We love to seek out a cooking class when we travel to new places so when we saw the reviews for this class we had no hesitation in booking. We were met outside and welcomed into the family home where we discussed what we were about to cook and preferred spice levels. Then we got busy cooking starting with masala chai then a variety of pakoras, dal, vegetable biryani and paneer butter masala which we accompanied with naan, chapati and stuffed parathas. We love to cook Indian food at home and this provided us with new skills to put into practice at home. The home blended and mixed spices were also delicious and reasonably priced.
It was a superb evening and at the end their hospitality truly came into play when our driver got stuck in crazy Friday night Udaipur traffic. Gautam leapt into action, taking us to him and then directing traffic and our driver to get us safely away.
It was an absolute highlight of our travels around India so far!

We absolutely loved our time at Mamta’s cooking class. It was an amazing experience to cook traditional curries, daal, chai, and roti from scratch.
It was a very hands on class, we were involved in every step of the process, from chopping vegetables, to adding spices, rolling out chapatis and cooking them on the stove.
I also really enjoyed created Aloo Paratha, and the sweet chapati.
Afterwards we sat and ate the food, which not only was very fun to make, but tasted incredible.
Mamta and her son made us feel as though we were at home from the moment we arrived until the moment we left.
I would definitely recommend this cooking class for anyone visiting Udaipur, it is a really authentic experience in a locals home, cooking delicious food.
All of the recipes are shared with you via email at the end also so you can re-create the recipes at home and enjoy Mamta’s recipes for years to come.
Thank you so much for an unforgettable experience!

We loved our cooking class with Mamta. We’ve always loved the food here and to see how it’s made (and taste the results) really made this an exceptional time. We learned a ton and would recommend it to anyone that has any interest in Indian food, or those who want to learn a new skill. Loved it.

Just incredible! We did the deluxe course. Mamta and her son Gautham are absolutely perfect. They met us on the street to show us the way into their (clean!) home. On arrival, we washed our hands and got to work. This is the perfect class if you’re truly looking to bring your new knowledge home with you to try to recreate the incredible dishes. You’ll be doing 98% of the cooking with strong guidance— this is exactly what we were hoping for. The result? A delicious meal of very fresh food. This was the best Paneer Masala, Garlic Naan, and Aloo Paratha I’ve ever had.
Watching the two together was also very sweet— you can tell it’s a loving home which makes it so inviting. The recipes they send you afterwards are also very detailed and clear.
We were taken to their art shop after and fell in love with the work. Go even if you don’t think you’ll want to purchase anything (we didn’t but ended up purchasing two beautiful paintings.)

Honestly one of my favourite experiences we had in India. This cooking class is so authentic and intimate and the care and love that Mamta and her son show is unmatched. We did the deluxe menu and learnt SO MUCH! We loved that we got to be so involved in the cooking process and it really felt like we were cooking in our own home. I couldn’t recommend this experience more!!

We had such a fantastic time learning to cook Indian cuisine with Mamta and her son, Gautam. They were so welcoming, kind and friendly, opening up their home and sharing their love of Indian food. I’m really excited to try out their delicious and straightforward recipes again back home!

I did this activity with a couple of people I met at my hostel. We cooked the standard menu and the experience was awesome! We received very detailed instructions and the food was incredibly delicious - better than any restaurant I’ve been to! Indian food is very complicated and it’ll take some effort for me to replicate what I learned back home, but I’ve developed an appreciation for the intricacy in the process and flavors of this wonderful cuisine.

Cooking with Mamta was amazing! Authentic local food with a personal touch. If you’re visiting Udaipur on your own or as a group, do this cooking class - you won’t regret it! Mamta was a greater teacher and provided me with great experience to cook authentic Indian food when I get home. Gautam was a great host making the class very personal and adding great humour! They also gave me the opportunity to buy home made spices to perfect my own recipes in the future.
After the class Gautam took me on a tour of the local street food which was a fantastic experience. The day with this family made my trip to udaipur unforgettable! Thank you so much Mamta and Gautam!!!

The cooking class experience was excellent. Mamta explained and demonstrated her cooking style and techniques from her own kitchen. We began with the basic Chai tea, then methodically moved to a fried cauliflower onion potato rolled in seasoned chickpea flour as a starter dish. There were 5 other items on the menu. I’m also taking away a better understanding of Indian spices and when to use them. Great fun for those who like to cook.
